English: NASA Mars 2020 Rover Sample Collection Animation
February 06, 2020 https://mars.nasa.gov/resources/24757/nasa-mars-2020-rover-sample-collection-animation/ https://mars.nasa.gov/news/8611/nasa-adds-return-sample-scientists-to-mars-2020-leadership-team/ When NASA’s Mars 2020 rover lands on the Red Planet on Feb. 18, 2021, it will seek signs of past microbial life and characterize the planet’s climate and geology. It is the first rover ever to carry a drill for coring samples from Martian rocks and soil. This series of animations shows how those precious samples will be safely stowed on Mars for potential future pickup and return to Earth by another mission. Mars 2020 is scheduled to launch in the summer of 2020. For more information about the mission, visit: https://mars.nasa.gov/mars2020/ |
