- @M2904: Hi, and welcome. I am sorry to inform you that you have triggered Special:AbuseFilter/153 by trying to cross-wiki upload a smaller (<50KB or <5MP) jpg photo as a new user while leaving the summary intact. The photo you tried to upload is smaller, and you said it's your own work. Usually when someone uploads a smaller photo, it is a copyright violation taken from the web. If you took the photo yourself, please upload the full-size original of it, including EXIF metadata. If you did not take the photo, please see Commons:Licensing for why we can't accept it, and have the photographer send the photo and permission via OTRS with a carbon copy to you. If you change the summary or use our Upload Wizard instead, you should be able to avoid that filter. — Jeff G. ツ please ping or talk to me 02:22, 2 April 2019 (UTC)

- The filter worked as intended. As the message you received explained, the edit you tried to make did not consist of valid Timed Text. (I'm also not entirely convinced that closed captions for single-word pronunciation audio like File:En-us-Peru.ogg is particularly useful, but that may just be my ignorance, and it's not why your edit was prevented.) —LX (talk, contribs) 15:04, 3 April 2019 (UTC)

It is not a Google index issue but a Wikipedia misleading content. Prioritising this banner picture. Any othet town in this world have a correct image leading people to visit but Comarnic. If you are so expert in everything in here, why don't you just help a community to regain their online presentation on your site?
Thank you. Ondin Dinescu (talk)
- Ondin Dinescu: You are on Wikimedia Commons, a repository of free, educational media. The file description page here is correct and should not be blanked out. Doing so will not remove the image from Google or Wikipedia. If there is an issue with those sites, you will need to take it up with them. —LX (talk, contribs) 05:08, 10 April 2019 (UTC)

- @GutsUK: Hi, and welcome. I am sorry to inform you that you have triggered Special:AbuseFilter/153 by trying to cross-wiki upload png and smaller (<50KB or <5MP) jpg logos as a new user while leaving the summary intact. Such uploads of png logos are not allowed at all. You said each is your own work. Usually when someone uploads a logo, it's a copyright violation taken from the web. Please upload the full-size original of it, including EXIF metadata, but it may be judged too complex to be under TOO in the country of origin, so you may need to send permission via OTRS. Also, any png image will look fuzzy when scaled down or jaggy when scaled up, so you may want to upload an svg or jpg version, too. If you change the summary or use our Upload Wizard instead, you should be able to avoid that filter. — Jeff G. ツ please ping or talk to me 12:52, 10 April 2019 (UTC)

- None of the filter log links you provided have any entries, and in any case, you cannot upload anything unless you are registered and logged in, which you are not.
- But searching through all the entries in the log, I'm guessing you may be Devonrfox (talk • contribs • block log • filter log) who tried to upload File:Scottie E. Deubler.jpg (hist • logs • abuse log). If so, the filter you encountered prevents low-resolution uploads from newly registered users using the particular upload form that you used. The reason for this filter is that such uploads overwhelmingly turn out to be copyright violations.
- Based what you write above, it seems like the assertions you made when you tried to upload it ("This is my own work" and "I attest that I own the copyright on this file") were untrue and that the filter worked as intended.
- Permission to use an image as a headshot on a specific page is not sufficient for the image to be hosted on Commons. Content uploaded here must be free for anyone to use for any purpose. The only one who can provide a legitimate permission for that is the copyright holder. For photographs, that is normally the photographer rather than the subject. Please see Commons:OTRS for how to obtain and submit an appropriate permission statement. —LX (talk, contribs) 14:23, 10 April 2019 (UTC)

- Laurenellmarketing: The filter you encountered prevents low-resolution uploads from newly registered users using the particular upload form that you used. The reason for this filter is that such uploads overwhelmingly turn out to be copyright violations. If you did indeed personally create this image, the expectation is that you should be able to provide a full-resolution version rather than the 740×826 and 960×720 pixel miniature versions that you tried to upload. Those are resolutions typical of files downloaded from social media, which is a common source of copyright violations. Images from your own camera are typically much bigger.
- Based on your username and edits, I would also recommend reading Commons:Guidance for paid editors. —LX (talk, contribs) 14:22, 15 April 2019 (UTC)

- Swedeamerican1955: I see that your account has been renamed. Strangely, that has had the effect that it is no longer possible to see the filter log for your old username (which I could see yesterday), nor are the events shown in the log for your new username, but the entry is still there in the full log (isolated in the link here by narrowing down the time selection).
- Anyway, the reason for the filter is still the same as previously. 2560×1920 (4.9 megapixels) is just below the 5 megapixel limit selected for this filter. If that really is the full resolution version, if you really did personally create the photograph yourself, and if the photograph is useful for educational purposes (which probably depends on if the subject meets the notability criteria for inclusion on English Wikipedia or equivalent on another Wikimedia project), then you may upload it directly here at Commons. —LX (talk, contribs) 08:43, 16 April 2019 (UTC)

- Serfife: The filter you encountered prevents low-resolution and PNG format uploads from newly registered users using the particular upload form that you used. The reason for this filter is that such uploads overwhelmingly turn out to be copyright violations.
- Unfortunately, because of the number of copyright violations, the filter has had to be defined quite broadly, meaning it sometimes stops uploads that aren't copyright violations. And unfortunately, instead of getting rid of the flawed upload form and directing users here to Commons (which the overwhelming majority of volunteers here would prefer), the Wikimedia Foundation thinks that leading users down this blind alley is a good idea. Please upload the file directly here on Commons to avoid these problems. —LX (talk, contribs) 12:58, 23 April 2019 (UTC)

- None of the filter log links you provided have any entries, and in any case, you cannot upload anything unless you are registered and logged in, which you are not.
- But searching through all the entries in the log, I'm guessing you may be EonMalan (talk • contribs • block log • filter log) who tried to upload File:1555450690229-8MOEW44E3JAOEZWT3WAG.jpg (hist • logs • abuse log), File:EonMalan2019.jpg (hist • logs • abuse log) and File:Headshot of Eon Malan at UNC Charlotte 2019.jpg (hist • logs • abuse log). If so, the filter you encountered prevents low-resolution uploads from newly registered users using the particular upload form that you used. The reason for this filter is that such uploads overwhelmingly turn out to be copyright violations. If you did indeed personally create this image, the expectation is that you should be able to provide a full-resolution version rather than the 1000×1250 pixel miniature version that you tried to upload. But unless this was a selfie, it seems like the filter may have worked as intended by preventing you from uploading a photo with false authorship information.
- Also note that we generally do not need you to upload photographs of yourself. If you are planning to contribute actively to a Wikimedia project, you may upload a small number of personal photographs for use on your user page, but if all you want to do here is to promote yourself (and so far, it looks like that is your only reason for being here), then we don't need that. —LX (talk, contribs) 12:45, 23 April 2019 (UTC)

- @Deisenbe: Hi, and welcome. I am sorry to inform you that you have again triggered Special:AbuseFilter/4 and Special:AbuseFilter/135 by trying to create a blank page. Unfortunately, you are not allowed to do that yet because you have neither the "autopatrol" user right nor 200 edits on Wikimedia Commons. Please stop trying, and only create pages with meaningful content. — Jeff G. ツ please ping or talk to me 11:55, 26 April 2019 (UTC)

- Page name: Jubilee Yacht Club (hist • logs • abuse log)
- Edit kind: I was uploading a photo I took of our club.
- Comments: This should not be filtered out, as I took and own the photo. It is an image of the page topic (yacht club). I am the photographer, an authorized official of the Jubilee Yacht Club (webmaster). JubileeYC (talk) 13:07, 27 April 2019 (UTC)
- @JubileeYC: Hi, and welcome. — Jeff G. ツ please ping or talk to me 15:29, 27 April 2019 (UTC)

- You have been attempting to remove "source" information from file description pages without being logged in. Please stop doing that. — Jeff G. ツ please ping or talk to me 11:14, 28 April 2019 (UTC)
- I did so because the stated source is the same as the institution in which the artwork is housed, and there's no link to prove the picture was actually taken from a page related to such institution. — Preceding unsigned comment was added by 179.6.194.231 (talk) 15:24, 28 April 2019 (UTC)
- In such cases, please find the actual sources yourself or tag the files {{subst:nsd}}. — Jeff G. ツ please ping or talk to me 17:27, 28 April 2019 (UTC)

- Edit kind: I was attempting to upload one of my photo's and received the message "We could not determine whether this file is suitable for Wikimedia Commons. Please only upload photos that you took yourself with your camera, or see what else is acceptable. See the guide to make sure the file is acceptable and learn how to upload it on Wikimedia Commons."
- Comments: When I tired again it said "An automated filter has identified this edit as potentially unconstructive, and it has been disallowed. If this edit is constructive, please report this error." AlexxRog (talk) 15:32, 29 April 2019 (UTC)
- @AlexxRog: Hi, and welcome. I am sorry to inform you that you have triggered Special:AbuseFilter/153 by trying to cross-wiki upload a png logo as a new user while leaving the summary intact. Such uploads of png logos are not allowed at all. You said it's your own work. Usually when someone uploads a png logo, it's a copyright violation taken from the web. Please upload the full-size original of it, including EXIF metadata, but it may be judged too complex to be under TOO in the country of origin, so you may need to send permission via OTRS. Also, any png image will look fuzzy when scaled down and may look jaggy when scaled up, so you may want to upload svg or jpg versions, too. If you change the summary or use our Upload Wizard instead, you should be able to avoid that filter. — Jeff G. ツ please ping or talk to me 16:43, 29 April 2019 (UTC)
