New users editing subpages of User:OgreBot/Uploads by new users

New users editing User:OgreBot/Uploads by new users, usually to remove their own entries, seems to be an excellent indicator of users that need a little extra attention. I came across two such entries just on one page. Could we create a rule to raise a silent alarm (i.e. log without warning) for this? LX (talk, contribs) 19:41, 1 June 2015 (UTC)

@LX: We are already hitting the condition limit for some actions (including edits), which means that some edits go unchecked for some filters and therefore I'd like to avoid everything that isn't a matter that is frequently happening. Perhaps OgreBot could check the pages itself once a day? If you were administrator, you could see all the filters (some are of arguable value, I guess), and start discussing about them… -- Rillke(q?) 19:44, 12 July 2015 (UTC)

  • Page name: Category NYC Gay Pride Parade 2015 (histlogsabuse log)
  • Edit kind: Category should now read NYC LGBT Pride Parade 2015. Told this was unhelpful as it deleted an entire category, which was my intent.
  • Comments: The proper name is LGBT pride march, but as most people think of it as a parade, it isn't helpful to change that. But after years of referring to it as gay pride parade, we need to make all future references LGBT, in keeping with the parent category. I have no idea why it comes up under N and not 2, as do the others. This is the first time I'm attempting to create a category, and while your instructions say that category creation should rarely be required, in this case it's required annually. @OwenTate: Please do some useful contributions before adding your full portfolio to your user page. Adding a lot of links to a user page with less than five quality uploads is often times considered being spam. I would like to have a photograph on my wikipedia page that i am proud of. Many people visit this page for information and i would like to have a decent looking picture associated with my information. I have created a COMMONS page and found a thumbnail image that would be suitable - so i was just trying to remove the picture with the pink dress and change it to the one where i am wearing a green dress. Removing categories from images that have the wrong copyright information preventing their use. Why categorize them? I was looking for an image I could use, and these are not usable. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 166.173.58.119 (talk • contribs) 15:05, 18 August 2015‎ (UTC)
As I've explained at User talk:Fernandoreyespalencia, your premise that the copyright information is wrong or that the images cannot be used is incorrect. But even if it had been correct, content that is non-free or otherwise outside of Commons' project scope should be noinated for deletion, not have categories or other arbitrarily selected parts of their file descriptions blanked. Blanking out categories like that is indeed disruptive. LX (talk, contribs) 19:25, 18 August 2015 (UTC)

Uploads by new users

I'd like to tag these so that I can query these files in the database. Proposed rule:

!("editsemiprotected" in user_rights) & (action == "upload")

I know about OgreBot, but this rule has little cost, produces immutable results, and can be queried more easily. --Dschwen (talk) 16:30, 4 January 2015 (UTC)

@Rillke, Steinsplitter, Krinkle, Jarekt, and Natuur12: (recent rule contributors). --Dschwen (talk) 21:29, 4 January 2015 (UTC)
Sounds reasonable to me; as long as the database won't crash and AF will not auto-deactivate itself or this rule due to a high trigger rate. Well, this is something we will know after testing. -- Rillke(q?) 22:13, 4 January 2015 (UTC)
Yep. Sounds reasonable. --Steinsplitter (talk) 15:56, 5 January 2015 (UTC)
Alright, I'll add the filter later today. I don't know what the usual level of discussion is for new filters (those sections are totally drowned out by reports on existing filters). @Rillke: auto-deactivation of AF is a thing? Well, our upload rate is not that high. We'll see, I guess. How to we get it back up again? Shouldn't it just deactivate the high-hit-rate rule rather than the entire filter? --Dschwen (talk) 14:51, 5 January 2015 (UTC)
As far as I remember only a filter that got too many hits was auto-disabled (wgAbuseFilterEmergencyDisable). But it was very confusing when I saw a filter suddenly disabled. Another thing is the total condition limit of 1000 which appears to be hit sometimes. Current values: Of the last 8,743 actions, 17 (0.19%) have reached the condition limit of 1,000 ... This means these 17 actions go unchecked. -- Rillke(q?) 23:24, 5 January 2015 (UTC)

✓ Done. Added as filter 137. --Dschwen (talk) 18:01, 5 January 2015 (UTC)

And the filter is getting about two hits per minute. That should not be reason for concern. --Dschwen (talk) 21:04, 5 January 2015 (UTC)
@Dschwen: Warning: This filter was automatically disabled as a safety measure. It reached the limit of matching more than 5.00% of actions. -- Rillke(q?) 18:57, 22 January 2015 (UTC)

Hi Mgtny. By "the russian version wiki", I assume you mean the Russian Wikipedia project (as opposed to some other Russian-language, wiki-based site – of which there are many) and by "the EN domen" I assume you mean the English Wikipedia project.
You are not on the English Wikipedia project right now. If you look at the address bar of your browser (a good habit to get into to avoid falling victim to phishing), you'll notice that you're on Wikimedia Commons, a repository of free, educational media files used by Wikipedia, other Wikimedia projects, and others. In line with Commons being a media repository, entries in the main namespace here are not articles (as they are on Wikipedia) but galleries intended for showcasing media files. Since the page you tried to create was not an actual gallery, it was prevented by the filter – just as intended. LX (talk, contribs) 20:28, 28 November 2015 (UTC)
