Hello All,
The Wikimedia Foundation's Fundraising team have begun our 'User Experience' project, with the goal of understanding the donation experience in different countries outside the USA and enhancing the localization of our donation pages. I am searching for volunteers to spend 30 minutes on a Skype chat with me, reviewing their own country's donation pages. It will be done on a 'usability' format (I will ask you to read the text and go through the donation flow) and will be asking your feedback in the meanwhile.
The only pre-requisite is for the volunteer to actually live in the country and to have access to at least one donation method that we offer for that country (mainly credit/debit card, but also real-time banking like IDEAL, E-wallets, etc...) so we can do a live test and see if the donation goes through. All volunteers will be reimbursed of the donations that eventually succeed (and they will be low amounts, like 1-2 dollars)
By helping us you are actually helping thousands of people to support our mission of free knowledge across the world. Please sing up and help us with our 'User Experience' project! :)

Be a Wikimedia fundraising "User Experience" volunteer!
Thank you to everyone who volunteered last year on the Wikimedia fundraising 'User Experience' project. We have talked to many different people in different countries and their feedback has helped us immensely in restructuring our pages. If you haven't heard of it yet, the 'User Experience' project has the goal of understanding the donation experience in different countries (outside the USA) and enhancing the localization of our donation pages.

Wikimedia sites to move to primary data center in Ashburn, Virginia. Read-only mode expected.
(Apologies if this message isn't in your language.) Next week, the Wikimedia Foundation will transition its main technical operations to a new data center in Ashburn, Virginia, USA. This is intended to improve the technical performance and reliability of all Wikimedia sites, including this wiki. There will be some times when the site will be in read-only mode, and there may be full outages; the current target windows for the migration are January 22nd, 23rd and 24th, 2013, from 17:00 to 01:00 UTC (see other timezones on timeanddate.com). More information is available in the full announcement.

Convert complex templates to Lua to make them faster and more powerful

Greetings. As you might have seen on the Wikimedia tech blog or the tech ambassadors list, a new functionality called "Lua" is being enabled on all Wikimedia sites today. Lua is a scripting language that enables you to write faster and more powerful MediaWiki templates.
If you have questions about how to convert existing templates to Lua (or how to create new ones), we'll be holding two support sessions on IRC next week: one on Wednesday (for Oceania, Asia & America) and one on Friday (for Europe, Africa & America); see m:IRC office hours for the details. If you can't make it, you can also get help at mw:Talk:Lua scripting.

There is a new request for comment on Meta-Wiki concerning the removal of administrative rights from long-term inactive Wikimedians. Generally, this proposal from stewards would apply to wikis without an administrators' review process.
We are also compiling a list of projects with procedures for removing inactive administrators on the talk page of the request for comment. Feel free to add your project(s) to the list if you have a policy on administrator inactivity.
All input is appreciated. The discussion may close as soon as 21 May 2013 (2013-05-21), but this will be extended if needed.
The default position of the "edit" link in page section headers is going to change soon. The "edit" link will be positioned adjacent to the page header text rather than floating opposite it.
Section edit links will be to the immediate right of section titles, instead of on the far right. If you're an editor of one of the wikis which already implemented this change, nothing will substantially change for you; however, scripts and gadgets depending on the previous implementation of section edit links will have to be adjusted to continue working; however, nothing else should break even if they are not updated in time.
Ideas to do this all the way to 2009 at least. It is often difficult to track which of several potential section edit links on the far right is associated with the correct section, and many readers and anonymous or new editors may even be failing to notice section edit links at all, since they read section titles, which are far away from the links.

Recent software changes

The latest version of MediaWiki (version 1.22/wmf4) was added to non-Wikipedia wikis on May 13, and to the English Wikipedia (with a Wikidata software update) on May 20. It will be updated on all other Wikipedia sites on May 22. [1][2]
A software update will perhaps result in temporary issues with images. Please report any problems you notice. [3]
MediaWiki recognizes links in twelve new schemes. Users can now link to SSH, XMPP and Bitcoin directly from wikicode. [4]
The UploadWizard on Commons now shows links to the old upload form in 55 languages (bug 33513). [10]
Future software changes
The next version of MediaWiki (version 1.22/wmf5) will be added to Wikimedia sites starting on May 27. [11]
An updated version of Notifications, with new features and fewer bugs, will be added to the English Wikipedia on May 23. [12]
The final version of the "single user login" (which allows people to use the same username on different Wikimedia wikis) is moved to August 2013. The software will automatically rename some usernames. [13]
A new discussion system for MediaWiki, called "Flow", is under development. Wikimedia designers need your help to inform other users, test the prototype and discuss the interface. [14].
The Wikimedia Foundation is hiring people to act as links between software developers and users for VisualEditor. [15]

Feedback wanted on Commons brochure draft
I've been working on a "Welcome to Commons" brochure, and community feedback was extremely helpful. We now have a draft of the designed version, so please share any thoughts you have on how to make it better. The main target audience is newcomers who are learning about Commons for the first time.

There is simply placeholder content for the section on adding images using the Visual Editor; once screenshots of the interface are stable, that content will be added in.

Pywikipedia is migrating to git
Hello, Sorry for English but It's very important for bot operators so I hope someone translates this.
Pywikipedia is migrating to Git so after July 26, SVN checkouts won't be updated If you're using Pywikipedia you have to switch to git, otherwise you will use out-dated framework and your bot might not work properly. There is a manual for doing that and a blog post explaining about this change in non-technical language. Wiki loves monuments - Sopron
Hello. I spent some days in Sopron this summer and took pictures of several historic monuments. I speak no hungarian, so I have no idea how to find which building in the town is a monument. Is there a category and/or list somewhere to help me? Traumrune (talk) 19:32, 1 September 2013 (UTC)
Since most of the monuments are still missing and I only have a small book from the tourist information Spaziergänge in Sopron plus oral information that Sopron is the second town after Budapest in number of historic monuments, I decided to upload everything with "wiki loves monuments". Upload will take several days, because I have a slow internet connection (sometimes it takes 3 hours to upload 20 pictures) and there are about 200 photos. I only put in information in German (j'ai la flemme - as they say in France), and at first only Sopron as category. I will see that later. Traumrune (talk) 18:05, 6 September 2013 (UTC)
Dear Traumrune, thank you for your interest about Wiki Loves Monuments in Hungary, and I am very happy that you plan to upload pictures of monuments in Sopron and its area. However, I have to tell you, that the only images eligible for WLM in Hungary this year, which you can find in our lists. In Hungary, lists of monuments are not public, and this year we are running a pilot project with a governmental organization, who are handle the assets of the Hungarian state. Therefore, in the list you will find only monuments, which are owned by the state, but there is no monuments which are owned by somebody else (e.g. ecclesia, private). It is only a small part of all the monuments, but according to our national rules of WLM for this year, we can accept images only about these monuments for WLM-HU. I hope, you still would like to upload your photos about Sopron, because we really need them, but we can not offer a prize for them. If you would like to check which of your photos are in the list, I try to find you somebody from the Hungarian community, who can help you. Samat (talk) 20:34, 6 September 2013 (UTC)
Samat, the answer for the church is on my discussion page. I upload the photos anyway, and for the monuments not on your list, you simply put off the wlm category. For me it is too difficult to check who is the owner with help of automatic translation. Example: I just saw on flickr that this house is a historic monument, but only one line is in English and most of the information only in Hungarian and the translator, just filled in about 30 % Hungarian instead of English :-(. Hello. I finished my uploads. All files are named Sopron_number + specification. For some buildings I found the monument number and/or the category saying "monument".
I have some problems with the categories : Is it correct to name a street Category:Templom Street, Sopron? I think it should be the right name Category:Templom utca, Sopron. the same for the squares. And in the Category:Castle of Sopron with monument ID are pictures from the archeological site Scarbantia Category:Archeological park (Sopron). Maybe someone translated the latin castrum with castle? Or is there a castle which would be different from the Scarbantia ruines? All my uploads which are finally not ok for wlm, just take them out of the listing. But I hope to have taken more historical monuments, then historical buildings that are not (yet) monuments. Traumrune (talk) 17:58, 16 September 2013 (UTC)
Hi Traumrune, thanks for your (lots of) uploads! I think, the Hungarian-related category system on Commons quite chaotic, most of them are in English, some of them in Hungarian. I don't plan to change it in September :) I have to look into some of your other questions, because (sadly) I don't really know Sopron. If you plan to help us identifying the monuments, you can find map tools here and here (you will find the monuments on the map only which are in the list for the national WLM this year, it is far from the list of all state monuments). Notifications will inform users about new activity that affects them on this wiki in a unified way: for example, this new tool will let you know when you have new talk page messages, edit reverts, mentions or links -- and is designed to augment (rather than replace) the watchlist. The Wikimedia Foundation's editor engagement team developed this tool (code-named 'Echo') earlier this year, to help users contribute more productively to MediaWiki projects.
We're now getting ready to bring Notifications to almost all other Wikimedia sites, and are aiming for a 22 October deployment, as outlined in this release plan. It is important that notifications is translated for all of the languages we serve.
There are three major points of translation needed to be either done or checked:
Notifications help on mediawiki.org. This page can be hosted after translation on mediawiki.org or we can localize it to this Wikipedia. You do not have to have an account to translate on mediawiki, but single-user login will create it for you there if you follow the link.
This community consultation was commenced on September 24. The following day, two individuals filed a legal opposition against the registration of the Community logo.
The question is whether the Wikimedia Foundation should seek a collective membership mark with respect to this logo or abandon its registration and protection of the trademark.
We want to make sure that everyone get a chance to speak up so that we can get clear direction from the community. We would therefore really appreciate the community's help in translating this announcement from English so that everyone is able to understand it.

English: Hi, sorry for not being able to write in Hungarian. Could somebody please explain to User:Szalay3 in Hungarian how categories work and that it is neither useful to create double categories for the names of Austrian localities in the Hungarian, Slovene or Czech language, nor to overcategorize files categorized like File:Ausztria, Grác, Schloßbergbahn, 0085.JPG into Category:Transport in Austria? He does not seem to understand or want to understand my advice in German and English. Thanks for your help!

Think of it as a digital laboratory where community members can preview upcoming software and give feedback to help improve them. This special preference page lets designers and engineers experiment with new features on a broad scale, but in a way that's not disruptive.
Beta Features is now ready for testing on MediaWiki.org. It will also be released on Wikimedia Commons and MetaWiki this Thursday, 7 November. Based on test results, the plan is to release it on all wikis worldwide on 21 November, 2013.

Számomra meglepő módon az enwikin a német elnevezésével szerepel. Ott is jó lenne megfelelő elnevezést találni neki, és ezeket egységesíteni. Még érdekesebb módon a saját weboldaluk angol nyelvű lapja is ezt használja. Samat (talk) 17:56, 24 December 2013 (UTC)

Universal Language Selector will be enabled by default again on this wiki by 21 February 2014
On January 21 2014 the MediaWiki extension Universal Language Selector (ULS) was disabled on this wiki. A new preference was added for logged-in users to turn on ULS. This was done to prevent slow loading of pages due to ULS webfonts, a behaviour that had been observed by the Wikimedia Technical Operations team on some wikis.
We are now ready to enable ULS again. The temporary preference to enable ULS will be removed. A new checkbox has been added to the Language Panel to enable/disable font delivery. This will be unchecked by default for this wiki, but can be selected at any time by the users to enable webfonts. This is an interim solution while we improve the feature of webfonts delivery.

Changes to the default site typography coming soon
This week, the typography on Wikimedia sites will be updated for all readers and editors who use the default "Vector" skin. This change will involve new serif fonts for some headings, small tweaks to body content fonts, text size, text color, and spacing between elements. The schedule is:

April 3rd: Wikipedias will see this change live
This change is very similar to the "Typography Update" Beta Feature that has been available on Wikimedia projects since November 2013. After several rounds of testing and with feedback from the community, this Beta Feature will be disabled and successful aspects enabled in the default site appearance. Users who are logged in may still choose to use another skin, or alter their personal CSS, if they prefer a different appearance. Local common CSS styles will also apply as normal, for issues with local styles and scripts that impact all users.

A "File:Fagus sylvatica distribution maps.svg" lapon szerettem volna elkészíteni a magyar nyelvű leírást a Summary szakaszban, de miután betettem a sorba (az angol és az orosz közé, az ábécérendet tartva), eltűnt mindhárom eddigi nyelv aláírása, s csak a magyar maradt. Úgy emlékszem, hogy korábban (2013 szeptember-októberben) ilyen még nem volt, s megmaradt mindegyik ott levő nyelv aláírása. Valamit elrontottam, vagy ez valami új dolog, amiről még nem tudok? Közben kezdem sejteni: ha nincs a látogató által beállított nyelvnek megfelelő képaláírás, akkor feltehetően mutatja mindegyik nyelvet, ha pedig van, akkor csak a beállított nyelvű képaláírást mutatja, a többit nem. Nem tudok bejelentkezni a Commonsba, már azt se értem, hogy ha a huwikin bejelentkeztem, akkor miért nem léptet be itt is (mint eddig). És a Commonsban hiába kattintok a Log in-ra (akárhol, Kezdőlapon, valamelyik kép lapján, stb.), bejön a belépő-lap, de mire beírnám a jelszót, vagy bármit tehetnék, visszadob arra a lapra, ahol az előbb voltam. misibácsi javaslatára töröltem a sütiket, és újra bejelentkeztem a Commonsba. A nevem és a jelszó-pöttyök ugyanúgy ott voltak a mezőkben, de a lap nem irányított át sehova, türelmesen megvárta, amíg megnyomom az Entert és szépen elfogadta a bejelentkezésemet. Kipróbáltam, a huwikiről is át tudok jönni, vagyis megjegyezte, hogy bejelentkeztem.
Szia, nálam ilyen még nem volt. Olyant tapasztaltam, hogy egyszer csak kidobott innen, de aztán egy idő után (gondolom addig valami történt, s ismét tudta észlelni, hogy a huwikin be vagyok jelentkezve) ismét beléptetett. Találtam egy szép képet a Commonsban, amiről csináltam egy magyar verziót, de mivel még sosem töltöttem fel képet, nem tudom hogyan kell korrektül feltölteni, hogy az eredeti szerző, stb minden rendesen fel legyen tüntetve. Az eredeti ezen a linken található. Nem találtam leírást róla igazából, de ha linket adtok, ahol érthetően le van írva, hogy mit kell csinálni, az is jó.

Segítséget kérek
Segítséget szeretnék kérni. 2009 óta vagyok szerkesztő a wikimedián és a napokban egy szerkesztő https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/User:BrightRaven minden eddig feltöltött munkámat törölte. Először arra hivatkozott, hogy copyrightosak a képek, bár azokat is kapásból törölte amik évek óta megfelelően szerepeltek a wikimedián. Az új feltöltéseket kicseréltem cc-re. Ezek után szerzői jogsérétssel vádolt meg,és ahelyett, hogy az igazolást kérte volna, vagy meggyőződött volna a személyazonosságomról törlésre jelölte őket újból, utána vandalizmussal vádolt. Ez a szerkesztő egyszerűen nem hagy békébe és mindig kitalál valamit és törlésre jelöli a munkáimat, sőt le is törli őket. A korábban feltöltött képeimet a magyar wikipédia számos szócikke is használta és ezek nyomtalanul eltűntek. Már többször írtam a szerkesztőnek, hogy ne piszkálja a szerkesztéseimet. Törlésre javasolta az Alexa Szlávics kategóriát, és tényleg nem áll le. Tudna valaki segíteni, hogy mit lehet ilyen esetben tenni a feltöltött filok védelmében? Letter petitioning WMF to reverse recent decisions
The Wikimedia Foundation recently created a new feature, "superprotect" status. The purpose is to prevent pages from being edited by elected administrators -- but permitting WMF staff to edit them. It has been put to use in only one case: to protect the deployment of the Media Viewer software on German Wikipedia, in defiance of a clear decision of that community to disable the feature by default, unless users decide to enable it.
If you oppose these actions, please add your name to this letter. If you know non-Wikimedians who support our vision for the free sharing of knowledge, and would like to add their names to the list, please ask them to sign an identical version of the letter on change.org.
I am notifying you that a brainstorming session has been started on Meta to help the Wikimedia Foundation increase and better affect community participation in software development across all wiki projects. Basically, how can you be more involved in helping to create features on Wikimedia projects? De ha nem több száz (ne ömleszd el az FV-t), akkor használhatod a Cat-a-lot nevű segédeszközt is (Beállítások→Segédeszközök→Tools for categories→Cat-a-lot), tud olyat, hogy összes kijelölése, és akkor pár kattintással áthelyezhetsz fájlokat az egyik kategóriából a másikba (kategóriákra és egyéb lapokra sajnos nem működik). Egyébként most nem értem, a Members of the Hungarian Parliament be van kategorizálva a Members of Parliament of Hungary-be. Ez csak átmeneti, vagy hogy gondoltad? Az egységesített bejelentkezés véglegesítésének célja, hogy minden Wikimédia-közreműködőnek legyen egy globális felhasználói fiókja, ami minden Wikimédia-projektben, ugyanazzal a felhasználónévvel működik. Mint talán tudod, hosszas késlekedés után, a bürokraták, intézők és a Wikimédia Alapítvány fejlesztői együttműködésének köszönhetően, az egységesítés most a végéhez közeledik. @Garbera levente: Ajánlom megtekintésre a Wikipédia:Képek használata című lapot a Wikipédián. Mint az elején található táblázatban is látható, ugyanúgy kell beilleszteni, mint ha a magyar Wikipédiára lenne feltöltve. Egyébként pedig kérlek válassz informatívabb nevet a képeidnek, ezenkívül az internetről származó képeknél nem elég annyi forrásmegjelölés, hogy „internet”, hanem pontos forrásmegjelölés is kell (én pl. úgy szoktam jelölni, ha a Wikipédia főlapjáról van a logó, hogy http://www.wikipedia.org/ (file)), és ki kell derülnie, hogy milyen licenc alatt van a kép, és miért (mondjuk a dinós képed valószínűleg jogvédett). Meta RfCs on two new global groups
Hello all,
There are currently requests for comment open on meta to create two new global groups. The first is a group for members of the OTRS permissions queue, which would grant them autopatrolled rights on all wikis except those who opt-out. That proposal can be found at m:Requests for comment/Creation of a global OTRS-permissions user group. The second is a group for Wikimedia Commons admins and OTRS agents to view deleted file pages through the 'viewdeletedfile' right on all wikis except those who opt-out. We would like to hear what you think on both proposals. Both are in English; if you wanted to translate them into your native language that would also be appreciated.
It is possible for individual projects to opt-out, so that users in those groups do not have any additional rights on those projects. To do this please start a local discussion, and if there is consensus you can request to opt-out of either or both at m:Stewards' noticeboard.
Nem tudok bejelentkezni a Commonsba - Can't login to commons
I created wikipedia user nett. (It is converted to Nett. WTF?) I could not login to commons. In commons I could not create user nett. I created user nettpic. (It is convertd to Nettpic.) So: with Nettpic I can login to commons and wikipedia, and with nett or Nett I can't login to commons but can login to wikipedia. I want to upload images with user nett (or Nett, I don't care). Note: nett and nettpic has te same email address registered.
A nett júzert a wikipédiában készítettem, de nem tudok vele belépni a commonsba. A commons nem engedett ilyen júzert csinálni. A commonsban készített nettpic júcerrel mindenhova be tudok lépni. A nett júzerrel hogyan tudnék képeket feltölteni? Kényelmetlen a váltogatás. Megj.: a két júzerhez ugyanaz a emil cím van rendelve.
A szerkesztőnevek mindig nagybetűvel kezdődnek, ez műszaki adottság (de megjeleníteni meg lehet kisbetűvel is, ha majd szeretnéd). A Nett nevű fiók nincs csatolva az egységes bejelentkezéshez. Ez azt jelenti, hogy minden egyes projekt külön-külön kezeli ezt az azonosítót, külön kell regisztrálnod. A helyzetet nehezíti, hogy ezzel az azonosítóval már több projektbenregisztráltak, szerkesztettek. Ha ezek nem mindegyikét te hoztad létre (pl. a Commonsban is van ilyen nevű regisztrált fiók), akkor ez okozhat némi problémát, de (idővel) megoldható. Viszont ehhez (és a bejlenetkezéssel kapcsolatos problémák nagy részének megoldásához) látogasd meg a https://hu.wikipedia.org/wiki/Speci%C3%A1lis:Szerkeszt%C5%91i_fi%C3%B3kok_egyes%C3%ADt%C3%A9se oldalt a huwikin, ahol biztosan a tiéd az azonosító, és csatold a fiókot az egységes bejelentkezés rendszeréhez, valamint csatold hozzá azokat a jelenleg különálló fiókokat, melyeket te hoztál létre. Egyebkent proba cseresznye alapon megprobaltam, ezt kaptam Nett felhasznalokent: A fiókhoz tartozó saját wikiben (lent látható) más a jelszavad, mint amit megadtál. Kérlek add meg a saját wikidhez tartozó jelszót.

Két külön karakter, két külön jelentéssel és használati körrel, lásd a hu:kötőjel és hu:nagykötőjel cikkeket. Ebben az értelemben igen, valószínűleg igen, bár nem mélyedtem el különösen abban, itt mi is lenne a helyes használat. Aki jártas ilyen dolgokban, esetleg tudna szólni a fejlesztőknek, hogy Special:UploadWizard-os feltöltésnél is legyen vagy egy figyelmeztetés, hogy "Maximális fájlméret: 1 000 MB (a számítógépeden kiválasztott fájl)" (ahogy a Special:Upload-nál), vagy pedig jelenjen meg valami, ami jelzi, hogy ezért nem megy fel a feltöltendő kép, vagyis hogy több, mint a megengedett 1 000 MB... mert ha nem javasolja nekem is valaki, hogy próbáljam a hagyományossal feltölteni, nem jövök rá, mi a baja... Felmerült egy olyan probléma a hu:Wikipédia:Wikidata-segítségkérés#Egyéb oldalakon lévő kapcsolt lapok szakaszban, hogy az egyéb lapokhoz sokan a commons kategóriáit írják be. A Fehér somon keresztül jól látható, hogy ez kavarodást tud okozni. A kérdés, hogy ha a commonson átirányítás történik a galéria-lapról a kategóriára, akkor a sima galérialap linkelhető-e a wikidatában és az megjeleníti-e (és ez lenne a lényeg) az "interwikiet" a commonson? Ugyanis főleg személyeknél kérdés, hogy a nyelvi wikikben születik-e kategória a névvel - legtöbb esetben nem - akkor pedig nincs mivel összekapcsolni a commonson a Wikipédia-lapokat. Engem személy szerint nem zavar annyira, mert a commonsot nem arra használom, hogy eltaláljak a wikipédia lapokra, hanem fordítva, de végül is nem kizárt, hogy más (pl. nem szerkesztő böngészők) viszont de... Attól függ. Ez mindig dilemmát okoz, hogy általában a Wikipédián csak szócikk van, a Commonson csak kategória. Ilyenkor nem egységes az álláspont, hogy összekössük-e őket. Még bonyolultabb, ha van galéria is: ilyenkor értelemszerűen a galériát kötjük össze a Wikidatán a szócikkel, de a kategóriában interwiki nélkül ilyenkor legfeljebb néhány link marad a más nyelvű kategóriákra, minden témában több nyelven van szócikk, mint kategória. Köszi! Én csak szócikkekre irányító (ha a kategóriát szerkesztéshez megnyitom) látható (pl. Category:Lajos Kossuth) interwikikkel találkoztam eddig. Nyelvi kategóriára irányító ilyen megoldással nem. Tehát, ahol nem okoz fennakadást törölhetem őket?--Szenti Tamás (talk) 18:05, 13 April 2015 (UTC)
Igen, ha „nem okoz fennakadást” alatt azt érted, hogy marad továbbra is nyelvközi link (Kossuthnál, Madáchnál nem). (A kategória valóban ritka megoldás, talán csak a Wikidata létrejötte --Tacsipacsi (talk) 19:12, 13 April 2015 (UTC)
A Wikidatán egyébként be lehet állítani mind a Commonskategóriát, mind a Commonsgalleryt is egy laphoz kapcsolódóan. Ennek nem kellene megoldania a szócikk, commonskategória, commonsgaléria közötti átfedéseket?--Szenti Tamás (talk) 18:12, 13 April 2015 (UTC)
Most, hogy át lett nevezve pl. a huwikin a Madách Imre szócikk hu:Madách Imre (író)ra a Commonskategóriájában megmaradtak az eredeti interwikik, amik felülírják a Wikidatás átirányítást, így csak átirányítás útján lehet eljutni a magyar szócikkhez a commonsból. This year the Board and the FDC Staff are looking for a diverse set of candidates from regions and projects that are traditionally under-represented on the board and in the movement as well as candidates with experience in technology, product or finance. To this end they have published letters describing what they think is needed and, recognizing that those who know the community the best are the community themselves, the election committee is accepting nominations for community members you think should run and will reach out to those nominated to provide them with information about the job and the election process.
This year, elections are being held for the following roles:
Board of Trustees
The Board of Trustees is the decision-making body that is ultimately responsible for the long term sustainability of the Foundation, so we value wide input into its selection. There are three positions being filled. More information about this role can be found at the board elections page.
Funds Dissemination Committee (FDC)
The Funds Dissemination Committee (FDC) makes recommendations about how to allocate Wikimedia movement funds to eligible entities. There are five positions being filled. More information about this role can be found at the FDC elections page.
Funds Dissemination Committee (FDC) Ombud
The FDC Ombud receives complaints and feedback about the FDC process, investigates complaints at the request of the Board of Trustees, and summarizes the investigations and feedback for the Board of Trustees on an annual basis. One position is being filled. More information about this role can be found at the FDC Ombudsperson elections page.
The candidacy submission phase lasts from 00:00 UTC April 20 to 23:59 UTC May 5 for the Board and from 00:00 UTCApril 20 to 23:59 UTC April 30 for the FDC and FDC Ombudsperson. This year, we are accepting both self-nominations and nominations of others.
