Hello, Gyongyhal!
Tip: Add categories to your files
Tip: Add categories to your files

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.

Thank you for providing images to Wikimedia Commons. Please keep in mind that images and other files on Commons must be under a free license and should be useful to the Wikimedia projects. To allow others to use your files, some additional information must be given on the description page. Most importantly:
 • Describe what it is about in a short sentence. (What does the image show?)
 • State the author and the date of creation. If you made it yourself, say so explicitly. If it is from another Wikimedia user, link to the person's local user page. Best to use CommonsHelper.
 • If you did not create the file yourself, state the source you got it from.
 • Add a copyright tag - images without an appropriate license tag will be deleted.
 • Add the image to one or more gallery pages and/or appropriate categories, so it can be found by others. To find out where an image belongs, you can use CommonsSense.

If you copied the file from another wiki, please copy all information given there and say who uploaded it to that wiki. Use CommonsHelper.

It is recommended to use Template:Information to put that information on the description page. Have a look at Template talk:Information for details of the use of this template.

You can edit the description page and change the text. Uploading a new version of the file does not change the description of the file.

Please add as much information as possible. If there is not sufficient information, the file may have to be deleted. For more information, follow the Commons:First steps guide. If you need help or have questions, please ask at the Help desk.

Thank you.

File:Alexa szlavics szinhazas.jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

Alexa Szlavics[edit]

Hello. Please note that Commons has a scope. We host files to be used on Wikimedia foundation websites and/or files with obvious educational purpose. This is why we generally do not accept self-created artworks. If Alexa Szlavics is a famous artist, you should create an article about her in one of the many Wikipedias (for example in Wikipedia in Hungarian). If this article is accepted on a Wikipedia after 2-3 weeks, the educational value of the artworks by Alexa Szlavics will be demonstrated. In this case, you will have to upload her artworks following the procedure described here, because we must be sure that you are allowed to publish these artworks under a licence accepted on Commons. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have further questions. Best regards, BrightRaven (talk) 09:14, 20 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

OK, so these pictures are probably in scope, but we still need a permission to be sent through OTRS system. (Please note that your pictures were deleted because permission of the author was missing, not because they were not in scope.) Best regards, BrightRaven (talk) 07:26, 21 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Warning sign
This media may be deleted.
Thanks for uploading File:Fractalmandala4 alexa szlavics.jpg. This media is missing permission information. A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or ask the author or copyright holder to send an email with copy of a written permission to VRT (permissions-commons@wikimedia.org). You may still be required to go through this procedure even if you are the author yourself; please see Commons:But it's my own work! for more details. After you emailed permission, you may replace the No permission since tag with on file description page. Alternatively, you may click on "Challenge speedy deletion" below the tag if you wish to provide an argument why evidence of permission is not necessary in this case.

Please see this page for more information on how to confirm permission, or if you would like to understand why we ask for permission when uploading work that is not your own, or work which has been previously published (regardless of whether it is your own).

Warning: unless the permission information is given, the file may be deleted after seven days. Thank you.

Removing tags[edit]

Hello. Please note that removing tags is considered as vandalism. Best regards, BrightRaven (talk) 07:55, 23 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

My mistake: I did not notice that you published an authorization on your website. I was looking for an OTRS tag. I apologize. Best regards, BrightRaven (talk) 07:58, 23 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I have tried to categorize your files correctly. If you could give more details in the description about the medium, the date, the place of conservation, it would allow to add more relevant categories. Thank you for your uploads. Best regards, BrightRaven (talk) 08:21, 23 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Please calm down. I made a mistake and I apologized for it. Now the licences of your files are correct, so I do not think there is any problem any more. I just give you the gentle advice to expand the description of your files (date of creation, medium, place of conservation...). This will help better categorizing your files. Please remember that Commons is a cooperative project, so anyone is allowed to modify the others' contribution. Best regards, BrightRaven (talk) 11:56, 23 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Gyongyhal, your post on BrightRaven's talk page is completely inappropriate. You are not entitled to give orders to, or to threaten, other Commons contributors. Wikimedia Commons is a collaborative project and you do not own any of the resources here. Other editors are entitled to edit, modify and revise your contributions. If you disagree with any of these changes, please discuss in a civil manner. BrightRaven is a respected contributor here on the Commons and you need to assume good faith. If you post like this again on someone's talk page, you will be blocked. --Skeezix1000 (talk) 13:05, 23 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. Thank you Skeezix for your message. I ackowledge I made a mistake this morning: I thought Gyongyhal removed a "no permission" tag without justification. I had not noticed she had added a link to a permission statement. I noticed this mistake immediately and I apologized. I hope Gyongyhal will understand I do not want to harass her. I just want to check the images published here are published in the respect of the creators' rights. (In addition, I try to categorize them correctly.) BrightRaven (talk) 13:19, 23 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for your note, BrightRaven. I had seen your apology above, as well as your request for information to assist with categorization. Gyongyhal, please understand that BrightRaven is, like you, working to improve the project. Regards. --Skeezix1000 (talk) 13:40, 23 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you very much for BrigtRaven deleted my all works since 2009. He (she) was not entitled to deleted my all files becouse their files was confirmed and used other wikipedia sites. That was a big mistake by BrightRaven and he (she) forgot to apologize for it. So, thank you Skeezix and thank you again BrigtRaven for your working on my projects. It was good and nice work! Thank you again!Gyongyhal (talk) 16:16, 23 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I can't tell for sure, but that sounds like sarcasm. Surely BrightRaven has not deleted all of your work from the last 5 years. --Skeezix1000 (talk) 17:17, 23 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Unfortunately, it is true. In previous years uploaded ALL my work has been deleted by BrightRaven. Ask he(she).Gyongyhal (talk) 12:10, 24 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Are you Alexa Szlavics? Otherwise, you need her permission to post her images here. This was explained to you above. BrightRaven was perfectly correct to nominate those images for deletion. I see that the artist has now given permission here for some images. I haven't reviewed your entire list above, but it appears that many of the deleted images are not included in the artist's permission. If some images have been deleted, but the artist subsequently gave permission, you can request that the image be restore at Commons:Undeletion requests. You will need to provide the necessary permission from the artist. I hope that helps. Please let me know if I can be of assistance. --Skeezix1000 (talk) 13:31, 24 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I am Alexa Szlavics contemporary artist and I gived the permission on my website. My user name on wikimedia commons Gyongyhal (talk) 10:12, 25 July 2014 (UTC) . Perfect. I will undelete them over the next couple of days. I kindly ask that you send a list of the deleted images, a link to your permission website, and an explanation of who you are to permissions-commons@wikimedia.org (see COM:OTRS for more informationn) - it will simply archive a record of your permission for these images so that there will no further debates. --Skeezix1000 (talk) 18:41, 25 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
