Soyuz MS-19

Since the Soyuz MS-19 will be the first completely Russian mission since Soyuz TM-30, would be nice to have some free licensing images from the full crew in general and Klim Shipenko in specific, since the Roscosmos images (prime/backup) are copyrighted. I'm asking because I'm not sure if some NASA photographer would release anything from a full Russian crew, also considering the pandemic still going on. You can find that information at the file's page File:Saint Maurice Magdeburg.jpg under a header "Licensing"; helpfully the photographer has even added a section called "I want to use the image. caulking iron

wikt:caulking iron. Once more, a specific tool with a particular identifiable shape (based on DDG and Google results). All I found here was File:Kalfatrevaektoej.jpg. Based on the other images I found online, the caulking iron is the small triangular object inside the box. I'm not trying to be too picky, but the photo is not ideal for illustrating the tool because of the framing/resolution of the caulking iron within the larger scene, and the lack of contrast. 70.172.194.25 22:34, 9 April 2022 (UTC)

Jesenice (Dugi Rat)

Good evening, I'd like to request a photo of Jesenice in Croatia. It's a quite big tourist resort, but there are absolutely no free domain photos anywhere. It's located in Dugi Rat municipality between Split and Omiš - this area is really poor for any pictures, as you can see in neighboring resorts Dugi Rat and Duće. But they at least have some pictures; Jesenice doesn't have any. Here is the location. I would be really grateful if you had any picture from this area. Moson81 (talk) 17:55, 4 January 2022 (UTC)

@Loibird90: There are hardly any photos of this actress on the internet that are under a free licence (not only public domain, but also Creative Commons). I did find one video on YouTube, from which I have uploaded a cropped screenshot here. If you would like to learn more about Commons licensing, have a look here. This refers to images (photos and illustrations) at EOL (Encyclopedia of Life) https://eol.org/ I don't understand their license conditions. Please could someone kindly check if an upload might be possible and if yes upload the images at the following pages:

Ernsts, hello. Unfortunately all the images you linked are licensed under {{Cc-by-nc}} licences. These licences are not compatible with Wikimedia Commons and can't be uploaded to Wikimedia Commons. Hulged (talk) 06:23, 2 April 2022 (UTC)

@Hulged: Thanks for the answer anyway! I'm stll working on the article and found that a lot many figures in current illustrations are doubtful members of the genus and there is still need for further images. So I looked for other sources that may contain images usable for wikimedia commons. I found the following candidates (I'd like extract the relevant parts by myself later :-) ):

It is realistically useful for an educational purpose, as required by our project scope (note that "self-created artwork without obvious educational use" is specifically excluded);
It does not breach any copyright owned by the rights owner; and
It has been released by the fan art creator under a permitted free licence.

In its caption it says Intellectual property rights: © Leibniz-Institut DSMZ and the ref. leads to the institute's website, where this illustration was published. Highway Shields for the Lincoln Alexander Parkway and Red Hill Valley Parkway in Hamilton, ON

If anyone with graphic design skills could recreate the highway shield for the Linc and RHVP in Hamilton, Ontario, that would be greatly appreciated as that would enhance their respective Wikipedia pages greatly.

can I speak to the manager haircut

wikt:can I speak to the manager haircut. The description on Wiktionary is "a layered, asymmetrical bob with blond highlights". The closest I could find is File:Short blonde hair with highlights.jpg. This may be adequate for a rough depiction, but if you look up the term on DuckDuckGo or Google, the hairstyle being referred to seems slightly different, but I am far from an expert on hairstyles. I have some doubts about the authorship of the images in this PDF (some have extraneous watermarks, and this Figure 2-4 looks like it was taken from some online sale). conduit bender

wikt:conduit bender. There appear to be two meanings for this, although Wiktionary only has the first currently:

A tool with a thin handle: [11]
A bulky object on wheels: [12]

I don't know what if anything the connection between these tools is. Currently, we only have one image with the tag "conduit bender", File:Pueblo Chemical Agent-Destruction Pilot Plant Immobilized Cell Bioreactor Area (12795582483).jpg, which is referring to the second meaning. It's not a bad photo, although the angle and framing may not be ideal for illustrating the concept. We have nothing for the first sense AFAICT. 70.172.194.25 01:59, 10 April 2022 (UTC)

Wait, immediately after posting this I realized that in the existing Commons photo there is actually a very long lever, although it's not too prominent due to the perspective (it extends away from the camera). So maybe this is the sense Wiktionary is referencing. Or maybe this is the conduit that is being bent, not a distinct lever. Note that in the operation of the object #1 the conduit is placed similarly: [13]. So, reconsidering, I think Wiktionary's sense is still #1 as that object involves a lever/handle and a conduit, but I could be wrong. 70.172.194.25 02:03, 10 April 2022 (UTC)

I would never use a photo for this purpose in which people are identifiable. The problem with trying to take a "nice" photo of a playground is that the weather should also be reasonably nice - and then playgrounds are usually busy. Playgrounds also come in a wide variety of equipment, sizes and structural condition. The ideal typical playground photo will therefore not exist and you will always have to make some kind of compromise. I do agree with you on one point: the variety of usable photos on this topic is really not pleasing on commons. --Smial (talk) 00:41, 1 September 2022 (UTC)

Short-track speed skating world cups

I would love for someone to cover the w:short-track speed skating world cup in Dresden (Germany) or Dordrecht (Netherlands) in February 2023.

I'm happy to help submit a grant request to Wikimedia to cover travel and housing costs (entrance at the event is usually free, but if not, happy to help with that too), and to sort through the photos before upload or during categorization.

I'm a terrible photographer and it's killing me that most pro skaters are either not illustrated on Wikipedia or illustrated with a blurry smartphone photo taken at an early 2010s competition. I'll go and take my own blurry smartphone photos from the early 2020s if needed, but if anyone has any talent, it would probably be much better Exilexi (talk) 11:58, 5 December 2022 (UTC)

Place clearly allowing camping but has no infrastructure whatsoever

Ideal picture would be like https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/File:Camp_site_backcountry.jpg - clearly no infrastructure at all, clear language-independent marker of designated camping site. I am fine if it is just cropping and site has actual infrastructure not visible on photo.

So far https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Refuge_Cove,_Wilsons_Promontory_National_Park_12.jpg was found where this marker is not well-visible (previous search attempt was on [18] and as of now better one was not found)

I would appreciate help if someone can take or find a better image (I tried searching on Flickr but failed to find anything like that)
