Categories

Should this be for sounds only and leave the Category:Audio for audio-related images? — Omegatron 01:07, 15 September 2005 (UTC)

Hm, as "sound" is the term uses in physics, I would suggest to do it the auther way around: "audio" should be a MediaType-Category and hold audio files only, where "sound" should discuss the physical properties of sound. But that would require quite a bit of stuff to be changed, especially all the "xxx sound" subcategories... -- Duesentrieb^(?!) 08:39, 15 September 2005 (UTC)

Agreed. WM Commons main page has three prominent buttons labelled "Images," "Sounds," and "Video." It seems confusing to be sent to a page of images when you click on the second one. (I see that some of these are links to audio, but the point stands.)Aetilley (talk) 23:40, 24 July 2015 (UTC)

We have Category:Sound, Category:Audio, Category:Audio files and then Category:ogg files, which is sometimes used as a general audio category. User:84.150.237.7 has removed a bunch of things from this category and put them in Category:Physics, including things like Sound barrier, Sonic boom and Sound icon. Might need to be looked at. — Omegatron 01:54, 22 September 2007 (UTC)
