Hi. Thanks for adding categories to the images I uploaded. I regret to inform you, however, that in the interest of accuracy, you will probably need to recategorize most of them. Those are not pets, they are wild animals who converge on my backyard and while, indeed, I have been privileged enough to be able to pet some of them, their home in the forest, and unlike Kitty, they do not depend on me for food and shelter. Also, I feel I should point out that the creature in this and many other similar images is not a squirrel, but rather, a chipmunk (much smaller, timid). Photos de la cathédrale d'Amiens

Permets-moi de te féliciter pour tes nombreuses photos et notamment celles de la cathédrale d'Amiens. J'ai remarqué que tu en avais publié de nouvelles ce 15 juin. Etant donné que je termine l'article en français concernant cette cathédrale, j'en ai déjà incorporé quelques-unes qui manquaient cruellement. Une question : tu as fait la photo d'une "Vierge à l'enfant" repertoriée Vierge Cathédrale d'Amiens 090608.jpg. Puis-je te demander où elle se situe dans la cathédrale, car je n'arrive pas à la retrouver dans ma documentation? Merci.

Encore une chose : d'après le nombre de tes photos d'Amiens, j'en déduis, peut-être erronément, que tu habites la région ou que tu y passes régulièrement. Si tu y repasses, serait-il possible de prendre une ou deux photos de la façade sud du transept et de l'intérieur de celui-ci (surtout la chapelle saint Sébastien, à l'angle du transept nord et du déambulatoire du choeur). Commons ne possède quasi rien sur ce transept, à part la rosace nord et la Vierge Dorée du portail sud. Excuses-moi de te déranger avec ça, mais je n'habite pas tout près (Bruxelles) et je suis handicapé des deux jambes, ce qui m'empêche totalement de marcher. A plus, j'espère.

Merci beaucoup pour ta réponse à ma demande et à mon message. J'ai déjà incorporé certaines de tes nouvelles et très intéressantes photos (chapelle de S. Sébastien et monument J. de Sachy). Excuses-moi de t'avoir pris pour un habitant de la Somme. Puisque le transept sud de la cathédrale est en restauration, et que tu habites Reims, je me sens gêné de t'avoir sollicité . Excuses-moi encore. Ce que tu as fait est déjà formidable. Cependant si un jour, plus tard, tu passes par là, une bonne photo de cette façade sera toujours bienvenue. Encore merci,

Photos de cathédrales

Rebonjour,

Merci pour tes derniers messages. Tu l'as peut-être constaté, tes dernières photos sont déjà intégrées dans l'article, qui commence à prendre ainsi une belle allure. Si j'ai un peu tardé à te répondre, c'est que j'ai beaucoup réfléchi à ta proposition de réaliser de nouvelles photos sur un autre site. Alors, disons que j'accepte avec enthousiasme. Mon problème est que je ne possède pas toujours de documentation suffisante pour écrire un article complet et valable. C'est le cas pour les cathédrales de Laon, Beauvais, Troyes, et surtout Reims, que j'aimerais un peu travailler.

Pour le moment, je me permets de te proposer une excursion à la Cathédrale Saint-Étienne de Meaux, ville historiquement champenoise et non pas francilienne comme on le prétend actuellement, pour laquelle je possède une documentation valable, mais dont "Commons" ne possède que ... deux malheureuses photos. Un vrai désert pour lequel tout est à faire, tant l'intérieur que l'extérieur. J'avais commencé à étoffer l'article il y a peu, mais face à la pénurie de photos, j'avais suspendu ce projet. Comme cela correspond à ton rayon d'action, ce serait gentil d'y faire un petit tour quand tu en as le temps. C'est non seulement une superbe (petite) cathédrale gothique, mais aussi l'ancien évêché de Bossuet. Merci beaucoup d'avance et à plus,

Bonjour, j'espère que tu vas bien,

Merci beaucoup pour ton message, et surtout félicitations pour la qualité des photos qui m'ont presque coupé le souffle...Je vais bientôt les introduire dans l'article qui, grâce à toi, est devenu un "must" pour ce qui concerne l'art baroque français. Et puis, merci pour les notices que tu as ajoutées aux photos ; elles me seront fort précieuses pour compléter les paragraphes concernant les diverses chapelles, car je compte remanier l'article, au vu de l'abondance de détails que tu me fournis. Il y a certains détails que je ne trouvais pas dans ma documentation et que tu explicites fort bien. Merci aussi d'avance pour Meaux. Je constate que tu es pleine de ressources, alors puisque tu es Rémoise, puis-je te demander, si un jour tu te promènes dans la campagne environnante (ou à Reims), de prendre une ou deux belles photos de la Vesle et de l'Ardre, son affluent (ou de n'importe quelle rivière de la région d'ailleurs). Il se fait que j'ai aussi écrit une série d'articles sur les rivières de Champagne (et d'un peu toute la France), mais ça manque cruellement de photos. Si ça ne te dis rien de le faire, ou si tu n'aimes pas prendre des photos de paysages, je ne serai pas vexé. J'espère ne pas t'ennuyer avec mes demandes. Surtout ne te déplaces pas rien que pour me faire plaisir. A bientôt j'espère.

Cathédrale de Meaux

Chère Vassil,

J'ai bien reçu ton message concernant ta visite à Meaux, et je t'en remercie. Ravi aussi d'apprendre que l'excursion t'a plu, et soulagé, car c'est épatant de pouvoir joindre l'utile à l'agréable. Tes photos sont superbes. Elles m'ont appris qu'il existait des gargouilles mâles et ce sont les premières photos de celles-ci que je découvre. Félicitations aussi pour tes photos primées de la cathédrale d'Amiens. Je vais, bien sûr, les intégrer toutes dans l'article. Il me faut d'abord terminer un travail engagé fin juin et concernant les cours d'eau français et wallons, et dès ce week-end, je reprendrai les articles sur les cathédrales.

PS : Sans vouloir t'importuner, quelques photos des portails et chapelles de Notre-Dame de Laon seraient aussi les bienvenues... C'est un article auquel je réfléchis depuis deux trois mois, et puisque c'est assez proche de Reims, je me permets de t'en faire part. En fait, je vise toutes les cathédrales de la moitié nord de la France (surtout les gothiques), mais c'est un travail extrêmement long et complexe. Ainsi, j'ai travaillé plus de 400 heures rien que sur Amiens, et autant pour Notre-Dame de Paris...et ce n'est pas terminé. Bonne journée

Vézelay

Rebonjour,

J'ai oublié de te parler de Vézelay. D'abord, mes félicitations pour les fort belles photos que tu y a prises. A part la rubrique historique, l'article est très sommaire et nécessite un "lifting" très important. C'est malheureusement le cas de quantité d'articles sur les édifices religieux (et pas seulement dans la wikipédia francophone...). Je vais me réserver quelques heures ou quelques jours dans les prochaines semaines pour tenter d'améliorer cela, d'autant plus que ça me fait plaisir que tu t'adresses à moi pour le faire. Ça me permet de te faire plaisir à mon tour. Et puis un monument aussi superbe que la Basilique de Vézelay mérite bien un peu d'attention. Mon problème est que je m'y connais moins bien en art roman. Mais heureusement j'ai un peu de documentation sur les principales églises bourguignonnes. J'ai d'ailleurs travaillé sur les cathédrales de Sens et d'Auxerre (qui elles manquent cruellement de photos...). Bref, à plus,

Re-Vézelay, Ardre et Notre-Dame d'Amiens

Bonjour, j'espère que tes vacances se passent bien (si tu es en vacances),

J'ai analysé à fond le cas Vézelay et décider de développer cet article prioritairement, étant donnée la quantité énorme de photos qui dorment dans commons (dont 75 sont tiennes), et l'absence totale de développement de cet article depuis un an ou deux. Si tu y jettes un coup d'oeil, tu verras que j'ai déja intégré une série de tes photos, au niveau des portails du narthex notamment. Mais ce n'est qu'un début, car je vais bientôt aborder les chapiteaux. Tes chapit~eaux sont superbes et très intéressants, alors j'ai décidé de foncer...

Concernant l'Ardre, j'ai épluché les libellés comme tu me l'avais demandé. Il y a, à mon avis, une erreur de localisation du pont qui fait la limite entre les sections de première et de deuxième catégorie, car l'Ardre ne passe pas à Méry-Prémécy, mais à Faverolles-Coëmy. Un arrêté préfectoral de la Marne que j'ai trouvé sur internet précise de fait que cette limite se trouve au pont de Faverolles. Et cela correpond bien à ce qui est dessiné sur la carte Michelin. Peux-tu rectifier la légende? Il y aurait dès lors le même problème au niveau de la station d'épuration.

Enfin pour Amiens, je t'avais posé la question concernant l'endroit où se trouve la Vierge Vierge Cathédrale d'Amiens 090608.jpg. Je pense qu'elle est située au niveau inférieur du puissant contrefort nord ou gauche édifié fin du XIVe siècle, sous le règne de Charles V, pour éviter l'écroulement de la tour nord. Penses-tu que c'est juste ? Merci de rassembler tes souvenirs.
De plus, en relisant un ancien message, j'ai lu que tu retournerais à Amiens cet été. Si c'est le cas, puis-je te demander de prendre une ou deux photos de cet énorme contrefort très orné, paraît-il, et qui comporte outre la Vierge et deux saints, les statues du roi Charles V (très rare) et de ses deux fils, dont le dauphin, futur Charles VI. Ce serait génial d'avoir une photo de ces deux rois. Ils se situent au dessus du niveau de la Vierge c'est-à-dire au deuxième niveau. Je n'ai trouvé nulle part la moindre photo de ce coin là.

Ce spectacle gratuit (...) reconstitue la polychromie des statues par projection lumineuse, réalisée par la société Skertzo (à contacter pour une utilisation des photos)." : l'éclairage est-il copyrighté ou non ? S'il l'est, alors la photo ne doit pas être sur Commons.

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]

[[Category:Comets]]

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

Hi, I looked at several metal images you took and I want to ask you to please use the date of creation as the photo date - the line is not meant for the date of upload (which is clearly visible in the log anyway). Dear Vassil, I just changed the ID of your image File:Liseron Amiens.jpg from Convolvulus arvensis to Calystegia sepium. There might be Calystegia silvatica in parts of France (see http://www.tela-botanica.org/eflore/BDNFF/4.02/nn/12348 ), which might look very similar. Convolvulus arvensis has got different leaves which are not as wide relative to their length and not as deeply heart-shaped at the base. Nevertheless I got some advice from de:Wikipedia:Redaktion_Biologie/Bestimmung (see the Commons page with your image for the actual link!) before reassigning the image to Calystegia sepium. QIC Decline

For some reason you have declined this image which I nominated in QIC with the reason "crop at the top". I didn't crop this picture and all of the Alpaca except for the end of a few hairs at the top which doesn't really disturb the image in my opinion. The quality of the image is also good. Vierge à Cordoue

J'ai tenté de prendre en compte ta remarque sur le caractère jaunasse de "ma" statue de la vierge dans la Cathédrale de Cordoue. Je te remercie de ton coup d'oeil, car je crois en effet que tu as raison. J'ai tenté d'améliorer la chose. Ces chapelles sont bien sombres, et l'omniprésence des dorures baroques est encore amplifiée par l'éclairage, effectivement. Je sais que tu n'ignores pas à quel point ce genre d'images est difficile à faire ! Peux-tu à nouveau jeter un regard, s'il te plaît, et me dire ce que tu en penses ? Remarque sur le détourage de photos

Bonjour,

Merci pour vos remarques. Je ne fais jamais de sélection automatique, je procède par sélections multiple en faisant des sélection par contour, par couleurs, par contraste, et en faisant les finitions à la main (ce qui prends beaucoup de temps, mais j'essaie d'être parfait). Ici, il semble effectivement qu'il y a ait un léger soucis pour le nez de l'ange (pourtant je l'ai recommencé 2 fois). Pour ce qui est de Hercule, je crois simplement que c'est un problème d'adoucissement de la sélection qui cause cet effet. La jambe est correctement découpée mais un peu crénelée. Et pour le buste d'André Lens, je pense que c'est le marbre lui-même qui est cassé, je vérifierai sur la photo originale.

Désolé mon cher Vassil,

Tu assures souvent la promotion de mes images, et me voici contraint, pour "jouer le jeu", de contester celle qui est faite de ta "Vierge à l'enfant" en ivoire du Musée Royal... Il y a trois fois des surexpositions sur l'avant bras-droit de la Vierge, sur son genou, et sur l'épaule de l'Enfant Jésus. Les parties un peu sombres sont "bruitées", de surcroît. A mon avis, c'est pour l'instant rédhibitoire en vue d'une promotion. J'espère que tu ne m'en veux pas, c'est avec regret que j'envoie cette photo à l'examen d'autres "reviewers" en "Consensual Review".

Es ist ein ungewöhnliches mittelalterliches Bild mit Understatement (ohne Engel und betende Hände, die sonst in jener Zeit üblich waren). In Stil und Farbgebung wirkt das Bild sehr modern. Your high resolution detail photos need to be mounted together. I did this today. Because your originals were exactly rectangular, they fit together perfectly. Only the shades of the four parts differ and might need some effort with GIMP or Photoshop. Now every detail can be cut out wiithout loss of precision. Wikimedia Commons is happy to announce that the second round of the 2015 Picture of the Year competition is now open. This year will be the tenth edition of the annual Wikimedia Commons photo competition, which recognizes exceptional contributions by users on Wikimedia Commons. Wikimedia users are invited to vote for their favorite images featured on Commons during the last year (2015) to produce a single Picture of the Year.

Hundreds of images that have been rated Featured Pictures by the international Wikimedia Commons community in the past year were entered in this competition. There are two total rounds of voting. In the first round, you voted for as many images as you liked. In Round 1, there were 1322 candidate images. There are 56 finalists in Round 2, comprised of the top 30 overall as well as the top #1 and #2 from each sub-category. In the final round, you may vote for just one or maximal three image to become the Picture of the Year.
