[edit]Weißt Du, wofür die Felle verwendet werden sollten? Gruß vom --Kürschner (talk) 20:53, 27 February 2009 (UTC)
Vermutlich zu garnichts. --Inugami-bargho (talk) 14:28, 16 March 2009 (UTC)
File:Dingos-schwarz.jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.
If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues. |

Your images and maps of wild dogs and dingoes
[edit]There is reason to doubt that you are the author of some of your uploaded images. You stated yourself that some of your images are obtained from friends (some of which wish to remain anonymous) and only some of them are made by yourself. A short search by myself revealed that File:Dingo_duenn2.JPG is a cropped version of [1] and [2] is a framed version of File:Dingo6.jpg, see also the above deletion request of File:Dingos-schwarz.jpg.
If those images are not made by yourself, you have to get permission (preferably via OTRS) from the original author and name the author (unless he wishes not to be named, but OTRS is necessary anyway). For more information about copyright in Wikimedia Commons see the links in the above welcome box. If you do not supply sufficient information, the images may have to be deleted.
This applies to the following low resolution images without EXIF data which are likely screenshots or copied from some webspace:

- Image:Wilder_Hund.jpg
- Image:Dingos-schwarz.jpg

as well as these images of low resolution with EXIF data which are different from your own camera (see File:Lilly 2.JPG).

Also note that maps are copyrighted and while maps may be reproduced (not scanned), e.g. from books, they must clearly name the source. This applies to the following maps and graphs:

- Image:Wildhund-Verbreitung_2.png

Ok, The maps won't be a problem, but I can't guarantee, that I can contact all the authors of the dog pictures. However, this may not be a problem after all, since a checked flickr again and they have quite a lot of pictures with high quality there and I'm working on convincing some of the authors to upload them in commons, so we won't have problems. I'll do what I can, otherwise they will have to be deleted.--Inugami-bargho (talk) 07:56, 17 March 2009 (UTC)
- Thank you for your cooperation. All images were nominated for speedy deletion. The six maps seem to be ok now. --Quartl (talk) 20:08, 17 March 2009 (UTC)
Tip: Categorizing images
[edit]
Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.
Here's how:
1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:
2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.
[[Category:Category name]]
For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:
[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]
[[Category:Comets]]
This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".
When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").
Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.BotMultichillT 05:55, 28 May 2009 (UTC)

Hi Inugami-bargho, the description of this image says "it's in the public domain", but at the same time it is under a CC-BY-license. Both don't fit together, either PD or CC-BY. Besides, it would be interesting to know, where this dog was pictured. --Túrelio (talk) 09:15, 9 May 2012 (UTC)

Wikimedia Commons does not accept derivative works of non-free works such as File:Tassie-picture Hobart.jpg. It only accepts free content, which is images and other media files that can be used by anyone, for any purpose. Reproductions of copyrighted works are also subject to the same copyright, and therefore this file must unfortunately be considered non-free. For more information, please read Commons:Derivative works and Commons:Freedom of panorama. You can ask questions about Commons policies in Commons:Help desk.
The file you added has been deleted. If you believe that this file was not a derivative work of a non-free work, you may request undeletion.
