Swanage

[edit]

Ich bedanke mich, Telford, für den Vorschlag über die Eröffnung der Swanage-Linie.

Ich werde die Karte kontrollieren, und ich mache die Korrektur heute.

Grüße

Autopatrol given

[edit]

Hello. I just wanted to let you know that I have granted autopatrol rights to your account; the reason for this is that I believe you are sufficiently trustworthy and experienced to have your contributions automatically marked as "reviewed". This has no effect on your editing, it is simply intended to make it easier for users that are monitoring Recent changes or Recent uploads to find unproductive edits amidst the productive ones like yours. In addition, the Flickr upload feature and an increased number of batch-uploads in UploadWizard, uploading of freely licensed MP3 files, overwriting files uploaded by others and an increased limit for page renames per minute are now available to you. Thank you. ~riley (talk) 05:00, 25 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Ho do you add category in an easy way

[edit]

I have no idea how to treat commons afbeeldingen quick. Is there a smart way to achieve this? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ahospers (talk • contribs) 23:56, 3. Okt. 2021‎ (UTC+02:00)

Hello Ahospers: The "little helper" is called Cat-a-lot, see Help:Gadget-Cat-a-lot. Unfortunately the is no Dutch translation of the description (yet). I could try to help you, if necessary. And, please, sign your contributions on discussion pages, see Commons:Signatures (unfortunately no Dutch translation, either). --Telford (talk) 08:15, 4 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Hello Ahospers: I just saw the categories you added to File:7701_hoogkerk-bangeweer-hoendiep-suikerunieterrein.jpg etc. Obviously you do not know HotCat, which I should have mentioned first. HotCat works on one file, and you can add/change several categories; Cat-a-lot works on many files, and you can add/change only one category at a time. Moreover you should observe:
- Categories are not like tags which you can attach as you like, but they should exist (no red links, please!)
- The spelling of links is "[[Category:...]]"
- Titles of categories are normally in English, so Category:Parken van Groningen exists as Category:Parks in Groningen (city)
If you use HotCat and Cat-a-lot, this will probably help you to avoid these mistakes.
Category:Suikerunieterrein does not yet exist. I categorized the respective pictures unter "Nature of Groningen (city)" and "Hoogkerk". Of course you could create a category "Suikerunieterrein" as a subcategory of both "Nature of Groningen (city)" and "Hoogkerk"; in this case the pictures should be in the most appropriate category only and be removed from the parent categories. But: is "Suikerunieterrein" really the official name of that area or only a description you invented? In the latter case I would prefer not to create such a category. --Telford (talk) 15:47, 5 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

"Suikerunieterrein" was owned by the companay SUIKERUNIE and the Gemeente Groningen bought it for 30miljoen euros. It will be split in to a park and a new wijk, quarter with houses. I used Suikerunieterrein to look for pictures and photos and for me it was working excellent. My itention was to add this to all old photos, older than five year..so i could find them easily. I tought the categorie was already created and automaticlly translated by poeople..So in Holalnd it starts as Dutch..and if German of Egnlsh want to translate it (WIKDATA, Q-code) it wil get the coreespnonding languge. Why remove the highlevel category, it should be Stadsnatuur or Green but Natuur is also good. I will take look but in general it is moore complicated than i had hoped.

Hello Ahospers: If the link to a category is red, that category does not (yet) exist, and it is not created automatically. Names of categories are not translated, but you can give a description in different languages. Automatic choice of language works in wikidata, but only if the descriptions for the different languages have been filled in first by hand. --Telford (talk) 09:13, 6 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Is a photo without a categorie harder to find ?

[edit]

If a photo does not have a categorie, is it than that harder to find ? It is easier but finding also depends on the tags and description in my opinon. As adding categories is diffcult if you do not know how to do it, i prefer adding the other things which were easier. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ahospers (talk • contribs) 22:44, 5. Okt. 2021 (UTC+02:00)

Hello Ahospers: Please sign your contributions on discussion pages, see nl:Wikipedia:Ondertekening! The easiest way is op de handtekeningknop op de werkbalk te klikken."If a photo does not have a categorie, is it than that harder to find?" Yes. "It is easier but finding also depends on the tags and description in my opinon." In a strict technical sense, tags do not exist in wikipedia. Instead the name of a file should give an idea of what is depicted, and the description should be accurate. Excessive tagging is of no use at all: Title and description of File:9848 Roege.Bos.DeHeld.Dunnen.BomenKap.Park.Bos.Woud.Herfst Siersteenlaan Vinkhuizen.jpg do not tell me what is to be seen on that picture, and I could categorize it only by referring to the geodata. "... adding categories is diffcult ..." Not really when you understand the principles. I wanted to recommend nl:Wikipedia:Coachingsprogramma to you, but I see that you are blocked indefinitely there. --Telford (talk) 08:45, 6 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

There is a not a nice atmoshphere at nl.wikipedia.. I only started a new topic after it was removed..and i asked people who where 10-15 years of that was allowed..and they told me it was. In holland they are pshypathic. --Ahospers (talk) 18:43, 6 October 2021 (UTC) i hope there is a signature there now The strange thing is that all accounts i use contain my real names --Ahospers (talk) 18:45, 6 October 2021 (UTC) The environment @nl.wikipedia hostile, that was the word i was looking for. --Ahospers (talk) 09:28, 7 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Nevertheless most people manage to contribute to Wikipedia without being blocked. – Have a look at File:4094 hoogkerk-bangeweer-hoendiep-suikerunieterrein.jpg: Categorie:Park in Groningen (stad) exists as Category:Parks in Groningen (city), but in my opinion the suikerunieterrain is no park but just braakland. Categorie:Recreatie in Groningen (stad) Categorie:Sport in Groningen (stad) Categorie:Industrieel monument do not exist, but the picture does not show anything belonging to these categories anyway. According to its description Category:Hoendiep deals with a canal, so most pictures you put into that category do not belong there. It is not clear what Parken van Groningen means: if the province is meant, Parks in Groningen (city) is more precise. So the only category which is maybe missing is Category:Suikerunieterrein or Category:Suikerunieterrein (Groningen). If created, it needs a clear description, and its relation to other categories, for example Category:Suikerfabriek (Groningen) or Category:Suikerzijde, should be clear. --Telford (talk) 13:11, 7 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
