The map of the North Pembrokeshire Railway incorrectly shows the order of the stations which should read- Letterston Beulah Halt Martell Bridge Halt Castlebythe Halt.. etc

You will note that Beulah Halt and Martell Bridge Halt should be reversed. citation- Disused stations web site by Nick Catford which not only shows detailed maps but the stations/halts listed on a ticket.Steamybrian2 (talk) 09:53, 15 March 2017 (UTC)

Mitcheldean Road & Forest of Dean Junction Railway

[edit]

Looking at the map of the line that you have produced, have you positioned Steam Mills Crossing Halt and Nailbridge Halt incorrectly? Have a look at the topography section of the Wikipedia article on that station and also the line template.

Done, thank you. Afterbrunel (talk) 10:26, 27 May 2024 (UTC)

Ambergate, Nottingham, Boston and Eastern Junction Railway

[edit]

On your map you have placed Elton & Orston and Aslockton in the wrong places. Any modern map will confirm this. Elton which did not add Orston to its name until after 1904, did not open until 1855 and should not, therefore appear on your 1850 map. Also Ratcliffe is just north of Leicester whereas Radcliffe is the station that should appear here near the river Trent. AsparagusTips (talk) 23:16, 17 May 2021 (UTC)

Thank you for these remarks. I am afraid I was unaware of your message until today. You are correct that I had reversed Elton and Aslockton stations.
I mainly use Col Cobb as my mapping source, and Michael Quick for dates and renamings. Quick is near-immaculate in accuracy, and is subject to continuous peer review. There are other sources for this data, but some of them are slapdash and misleading.
The information I regard as authoritative consists of:
Elton, opened with the line on 15 July 1850. Orston may have come later; it was Elton for Orston for some decades, (to 1899) and Elton and Orston from 1924 or 1925.
Aslockton too opened with the line on 15 July 1850.
Ratcliffe station opened with the line, under that name spelt with a "t". It was renamed Radcliffe-on-Trent (with a "d") from 1 January 1878, and Radcliffe (Notts) from 14 May 1984. (I tend not to use location specifiers that appear in brackets.) The 1878 date comes from the Railway Clearing House according to Quick -- he cites all his sources -- but Clinker and another writer have suggested 1871.
I hope you are content with the amendments I have made, but if not please let me know. However I must ask you to indicate the authorities you are using. Afterbrunel (talk) 12:02, 27 May 2024 (UTC)

Carmyllie Railway

[edit]

Looking at the map of the line that you have produced (in your now-trademark style), you have made a spelling error. The station name is CUTHLIE, not as you show it on your map. Could you be so kind as to amend the wording, please.

Done. (I am sorry, I only noticed your report this morning.) Afterbrunel (talk) 07:17, 27 May 2024 (UTC)
