Four days of failure - I really need this exclusion

I restarting this edit request here because it seems to have been missed when I added it to my previous request of a few days ago just above.

A third day of gallery update failure received today. Can you please remove Category:Pony Express so we can see if this is the problem? In the log I see 440 such entries out of 500 listings. Thanks Ww2censor (talk) 11:53, 28 February 2023 (UTC)

Hello @Magog the Ogre, I have just received a failure message from your bot saying– Your gallery has a hard upper-limit of about 8000 files per day, while your gallery would have had 17149 files (including files already on the page). Another failed gallery update. I think this time it is necessary to please exclude the following category: Category:International organizations based in Europe based on what I found in the log [1]

Also please exclude Category:Travel documents.

Today we have 4 days of failed gallery updates. I'm not even sure these two categories mentioned above are sufficient to avoid future failures. Magog the Ogre please review the logs for me and advise if you see any other category that may be causing the failures as I can't find the problem categories. Hello, I have searched for the cause of the error message. The problem has to do with totally stupid category series from the subject area of film. @Arosio Stefano: I got it working by adding a few more exclusions. There are a few problems though: 1) your exclusions are super broad and probably mean we're missing a bunch of content and 2) the category is super broad and is likely to break again in the future.
The concept of "video games" is just too broad. My recommendation would be that you choose a narrower subset of what exactly you're looking for. Magog the Ogre (talk) (contribs) 15:30, 24 June 2023 (UTC)

I kind of figured out what broke the gallery, though as I am quite busy IRL I haven't had the time to pinpoint exactly what to exclude, an example string here is:

In this case subjects mentioned in books direct to the subjects themselves, I think that the main issue here is "Category:GFDL => Category:GNU licenses => Category:GNU Project => Category:Richard Stallman" but this still leaves quite a lot of files which are outside of the intended scope of the gallery. Is it possible to only list files by type? Namely only ".PDF" files? The idea of the gallery is mostly to list PDF files and other documents, but because of "Category:Place Charles-de-Gaulle (Paris) => Category:Avenue Kléber (Paris) => Category:Jean-Baptiste Kléber streets => Category:Things named after Jean-Baptiste Kléber => Category:Jean-Baptiste Kléber => Category:Campaign in Egypt (1798-1801) => Category:Description de l'Egypte =>" a large number of other files are also placed in this gallery. The best case would be to exclude a number of these categories, but I'm not sure if your bot can also distinguish between filetypes. @Donald Trung: issue was a few overzealous categorizations which I have reverted.[2][3] Courtesy ping @Photo Archives: while I think your edit was well-intentioned, I would disagree since it adds a PDF parent category to a child which is more broad than a PDF. Yes I see your point. I should have just done the individual images even tho many pdf's are grouped at the bottom of a main Cat.
