WLM monuments list of Luxembourg - Ids
[edit]I changed the lu id from integer to string. Should be fixed now. What's the coor_numm field? It appears on many monuments, but is not recognized by the bot. Platonides (talk) 21:38, 19 August 2013 (UTC)
- Great, many thanks! I can't wait for the map to flourish with green-blue dots! As for the "coor_numm" I have no idea where it comes from; someone must have introduced it in a template at some point (I guess when the standard table was still under trial) and so it was copied here and there. If it has no meaning, but does no harm, I propose to leave it for the time being; if it should mess up sth, I could devote some time to take it out, but I'm quite busy these days. Best regards, --Zinneke (talk) 21:45, 19 August 2013 (UTC)

Photos
[edit]Hello. Can you upload a photo of this place File:Fréier Minettesgrouf iwwer Dag tëscht Esch a Keel 2013-04.JPG or of a place like this but from another spot to show a quarry more fully? And would you like to add coordinats to your photos in the Category:Red Lands (Luxembourg)? Blast furnace chip worker (talk) 19:25, 7 January 2021 (UTC)
- Hi there, @User talk:Blast furnace chip worker!
- The pictures from this area I have taken can be found in Category:Nature reserve Brucherbierg-Lallengerbierg.
- If you are interested in the history of Luxembourg's iron and steel industry, have a look at this video, which covers the steel crisis 1974-1985, and where you have stock images from the works in the mines and the furnaces: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ka27-sl3Qco
- Greetings, --Zinneke (talk) 20:00, 7 January 2021 (UTC)
- No, these photos are not suitable. I mean photos taken from above the walls of the quarry, so that one can see that this is a quarry. All quarry or may be a part of it must to be seen. Have you this kind of photos? Something of this kind [1] or [2].
- The video you advised is interesting. I didn't understand a word, but some of the documentaries are very interesting. Some parts of the film are sad. Blast furnace chip worker (talk) 21:23, 7 January 2021 (UTC)
- By the way. The movie is not free so as I understand one may not to us images from it for wiki commons but I need photos for usage. Thank you. Blast furnace chip worker (talk) 21:28, 7 January 2021 (UTC)
- Indeed, media on Youtube are not free. I pointed it out because I thought it could be of interest for you. Regarding additional pictures of the former quarry near Esch, you will have to be patient until I will be in the area again - which under current sanitary circumstances and due also my other activities, might take some time. Greetings, --Zinneke (talk) 22:48, 7 January 2021 (UTC)
- Oh, I absolutly do not rush you. I am preparing an article for wikipedia on the topic lb:Siderurgie zu Lëtzebuerg. For now, I can use abovemantioned photo. Then if there will be your new photo I will replace it in the article.
- One more question. What is this [3]? Is this Les terres rouges in Luxembourg or not? Is this a fomer quarry? If this is Luxembourg, then where is the north and where is the south on this photo?
- Certainly not Luxembourg: Exotic vegetation indicates this is somewhere far, far away. Other pics on the Flickr account it comes from hint it could be Austraila.--Zinneke (talk) 09:28, 8 January 2021 (UTC)
- By the way, they want to dismantle the lb:Metze Schmelz. It is very important to make photo of this plant while it is not destroyed. This is important for both history and wiki commons. If it is possible, then take a picture of it too. Maybe even inside the plant. But I do not want to disturb you in any way of couse. With a request to make a photo of this plant in any case I am going to appeal to other people who are closer to that place. The photos of this plant in Category:Arbed Esch-Schifflange are not perfec enough. Panorama of it from a good spot is necessary. Thank you. Blast furnace chip worker (talk) 23:55, 7 January 2021 (UTC)
- I'm aware of that; google "Quartier Alzette" for the urbanisation project for the site. I understand they want to preserve some landmarks, but you are right: Pix of what will soon be 'the past' would be interesting. Btw, "Lentille Terre Rouge"/"Rout Lëns" is also a re-urbanisation project, in the South of Esch, on former Aachener Hütte/Arbed Terres Rouges. LB:Wiki has articles (and links to pictures on Commons) on both.--Zinneke (talk) 09:28, 8 January 2021 (UTC)
- Ok. Well, if you some time will be able to make panoramic photos of the fomer quarries then do it and let me know. Thank you. Blast furnace chip worker (talk) 18:04, 10 January 2021 (UTC)
- Will do. If you have questions regarding your article on the history of steel industry in Luxembourg, don't hesitate to ask, I got a few books about it.--Zinneke (talk) 19:50, 10 January 2021 (UTC)

Zurücksetzung
[edit]Hallo! --XRay 💬 13:04, 22 August 2023 (UTC)

[edit]Moien,
Ech verstinn net richteg firwat dës Fotoen vun Wikipedia erofgeholl ginn.

Kuckt dozou: c:Commons:Licensing. Ausserdeem gouf keen Auteur vun der Foto uginn.
- Et gi glécklecherweis fräi Fotoen op Commons vun deenen zwéin Hären, déi kënnen an d'Artikelen agesat ginn; kuckt: c:Category:Xavier Bettel a c:Category:Luc Frieden.
- Wann Der beim SIP wëllt nofroen, misst Der se genee drop hiweisen, wéi si den Accord ausdrécken (mat Formulaire an Email an alles) - Geneeës fannt Der hei: c:Commons:Volunteer Response Team.
Gebaier oder Statuen) a mat der Panoramafräheet (déi et a Länner wéi Däitschland oder der Belsch gëtt, ma net zu Lëtzebuerg oder a Frankräich)...

Overcat
[edit]Hello, I haven't understood the purpose of the category "December 2023 Luxembourg photographs" in my Luxembourg pictures (example here), since I had already categorized them in categories like "Luxembourg photographs taken on 2023-12-15". In my eyes a clear case of overcategorization. Would you undo those edits? Regards. Poco a poco (talk) 20:58, 13 February 2024 (UTC)
- Hello Poco a Poco,
- sorry, I saw the undercats only after having inserted the "Dec. 2023 Lux" cat, which I routinely add to new uploads relating to Luxembourg. They didn't show in the cat list in my browser. I'll undo them. Regards,--Zinneke (talk) 21:13, 13 February 2024 (UTC)
PS: You will have noticed I changed the name in the cat of some pictures from suburbs, as there are 3 distinct "quartiers" (Grund, Clausen anf Pfaffenthal). I also specified the once with the Liberty 19 building, which indeed belongs today to Banque and Caisse d'Epargne de l'Etat (Spuerkeess), but is historically the headquarter of the steel company Arbed, and later on, for a short time, ArcelorMittal. --Zinneke (talk) 21:13, 13 February 2024 (UTC)
- Hello Zinneke, thank you for your feedback. The categories with the concrete dates are -for any reason- hidden. You should configure your settings (Appearance >> Show hidden categories) to show hidden categories. Regarding the other categories, thank you! I had in fact doubts about some cats and descriptions. Now I know whom to ask :O) --Poco a poco (talk) 07:51, 14 February 2024 (UTC)

Please reverte the image. The rationale is a permanent URI to the current stone marker; previous versions are historical records. Look at the the Limes Luxemburgensis — Preceding unsigned comment added by Carrasco (talk • contribs) 18:47, 1 January 2025 (UTC)
- That's not how Commons work. It's not a reason to erase a picture on Commons just because the depicted object looks different today. As you say yourself, they are historical records and deserve to be kept. All you need to do is give the newer images a slightly different name and change the file name where it is in use.
