BA Legislature logo

Hi, I've noticed you marked file BA city legislat logo.png to delete because of its copyright status. What I don't understand is why you did this so I had put the {{Legislatura-WMAR}} tag so it is a variant of this logo which has the same license (OTRS permission).

Hi, the problem is, that there is just no license template included to the description page. The source page is using {{PD-text}} but I don't think thats very suitable, because its a logo without text. Regarding File:Adamharringtonvoiceactor.png

I have done everything possible to make it fit in with the commons rules. I'm very inexperienced and need help with the Creative Commons licencing. I attributed more sources with more links and users among the wikia. Please see what can be done.

If you do remove the file it will be re-uploaded as the voice actor that it is attributed to is rising in fame and popularity and will become more prominent in the next year or so.

Hi again, the wikia policy states that non text should be treated as text which can be used if correctly attributed. Secondly, this content seems to be original and uploaded by Adam Harrington himself for self promotion/information purposes and so it must be original and there can be no other source. Therefore, it should be the only site to contain this image and to deny this upload because of sketchy creative commons granted under the wikia rules, which I have followed, would be a disservice to the flow of knowledge and resources on the internet.

Hi, with this one I'm not sure myself. It would depend on who was "Gill", when and where did he lived, or better when did he died (see i.e. {{PD-old}}), where was the image published first an if in the US with or without a copyright notice. This is helpfull. The source of the illustration is Gill, E.L. 1924. Fossil arthropods from the Tyne Coalfield. Geological Magazine, 61:455-471. Well, based on the blazon it should be possible to create SVG files even without those images. If the images are needed they wouldn't be realy based on the blazon, but on the copyrighted fotos. Hello, The author of the pictures about Ganymede's statue of Carthage is Lotfi Rahmouni, a friend in facebook. He wrote when I asked him for reusing it : "mes publications sur Fb, textes et photos, serviraient à une éventuelle sensibilisation et des autorités mais aussi des lecteurs sauf si vs voulez citer l'auteur ou l'origine, bien que leur emploi par autrui ne me gêne absolument pas tant que c pour une bonne cause". Hi, the original problem with these images is/was that there is/was just no license template was included to the description pages. For one you corrected that inbetween. But they don't look like drawing, but like (manipulated) fotos. If the copyright blongs to Jane's Addiction as you stated, you cannot release the images under a free license. Only the copyright holder can o that. So: please contact them an ask them if the willing to publish these imags under a free license - {{Cc-by-sa-3.0}} is recommaned. They have to send an email to the commons support team as documented on Commons:OTRS in this case. URAA and France: 1937

Hello JuTa,

Thank you for the work you are doing for helping clean the backlog of the Not-PD-US-URAA files and please continue this good work. That said, I just wanted to explain why I think User:Rd232 had made a good faith mistake when he added [1] the tag Not-PD-US-URAA to File:Bellenger Tour de France 1929.JPG and why I had removed his addition (and why you should not have reverted the removal ). Regarding the works first published in France, we must keep in mind the fact that the 1995 French copyright extensions, from 50 years to 70 years, did not affect the works that had already entered the public domain before 1995. This is the case for anonymous/pseudonymous works (50 years from publication), and for attributed works (50 years after the death of the author). To which must be added the war extension (8 years). As an example, if this photo published in 1929 by agence Meurisse is correctly defined as no auhor disclosure, then 1929 + 50 + 1 + 8 = 1988. The work entered the public domain in France in 1988 and therefore it is not affected by the URAA. Photos first published in France begin to be affected by the URAA, for anonymous works published after 1936, and for attributed works whose author died after 1936. (1936 + 50 + 1 + 8 = 1995.) Agence Meurisse published under this name until 1937. So, almost all photos identified from agence Meurisse are in the public domain in the United States, with the possible exception of photos published in 1937. Currently, on some 1200 files Commons has from agence Meurisse, 19 seem to be identified as published in 1937 [2] (and even for those photos published in 1937, I'm not sure who could claim a copyright, considering that they are attributed to the agency and considering that the photographic fonds was bought by the BNF in 1961 from the successor agency and that the BNF itself states that they are in the public domain). -- Asclepias (talk) 19:46, 6 December 2013 (UTC)

I normaly use en:Wikipedia:Non-U.S._copyrights, en:List_of_countries'_copyright_length and/or Commons:Hirtle chart as source for my decisions to either raise an URAA-DR or to change the license. Hi, I normaly use VisualFileChange going through Category:Media uploaded without a license as of 2013-12 (or the actual month) marking all images without a license and without another problem tag. So I don't open or see the file description pages to be able to decide if they are obvious copyright violations or not. Löschung eines Commons Bildes

Guten Abend! Glücklicherweise hab ich gesehn, dass du Deutsch sprichst. Also betreffend des zu löschenden Bildes User talk:Freddyapple. Ich weiß leider nicht, wie ich die Datei sonst im dem Artikel verwenden soll. Da die sogenannte Schaffenshöhe des Logos der betreffenden Institution nicht hoch genug für den SChutz als geistiges Eigentum ist. Leider weiß ich nicht, wie ich das im Commons eintragen soll bei den Lizensen. Es handelt sich um einen handelsüblichen Schriftzug der den Namen eines Magazins darstellt. Bei einer ganzen Reihe von Artikeln über Zeitschriften und Zeitungen, die ich als VOrbild herangezogen hab, ist das ähnlich gelöst. Das Bild entspricht meiner Meinung weitestgehend den Hinweisen zur Auswahl der Vorschläge.

Kann ich ein Bild mit Ursprung von de.wikivoyage.org als Vorschlag eintragen?

Football images

Hi, I saw that you started nominating a lot of files that are in PD in Argentina but not still free in the US. I was not very cleared about how the URAA works but now I'm sure that a lot of Argentine football photos should not be in Commons for that reason. Therefore I started nominating a lot of those photos (most in use in diverse WP articles) that are under the URAA copyright. Hi, thx for helping with the URAA deletion process. I found some minor and some major mistakes in your deletion request. Most of them would be "fixed" if you would use the gadget "quick delete" within your Special:Preferences.

I have corrected that now for your todays deletion request starts.

In detail:

• (minor) in all DRs you forgot the parameters year, month an day within the {{Delete}} template on the description pages. i.e. Correction. Otherwise the images would end up in the maintenance Category:Deletion requests - No timestamp given, and another user has to fix that. This would go automaticly with the "quick delete gaget".
• (major) you forgot to include the nomination pages into the todays deleteion request page. i.e. Correction. Otherwise Admins normaly dont find your requests and will not decide them. This would go automaticly with the "quick delete gaget".
• (minor) You should add an undeletion category and the URAA-DR-category to the deletion request page. i.e. Correction. The undeletion categories will ensure that the files will get undeleted as soon as they will become free. The URAA-DR-category is good for statistical and similar issues. This you still have to do manually even with the "quick delete gaget".
• (minor) The headers in the deletion request pages should use 3x "=" (not 2x). Correction. Otherwise the daily deletion request pages would get a bit weird. This would go automaticly with the "quick delete gaget".
• (major) You sometimes forgot to inform the uploader(s). i.e. Correction. The uploaders should be informed all times a DR gets started, to give them a chance to comment on the DR or to i.e. transfer the files to a local wiki if the local wiki rules allows that. This would go automaticly with the "quick delete gaget".

You can reupload the image(s), but dont' forget to set the license template of the copyright holder wish (compare Commons:Copyright tags). As you can see by the title, the file was created to indicate what could be done with photo-editting. The picture was taken on a very grey and dismal December day with no sunshine, shadows, flowers or blue sky. It has served its purpose and can be deleted. Unless you can see a reason for keeping it. Please, stop it with the crap categories.

This is a bad category and it should be deleted, not redirected. We do not invent new categories for every foreign language version of a category name.

These images were bulk uploaded recently by a new editor. They were all given a rubber-stamp set of incorrect categories: terms vaguely related to nuts and bolts, but in a non-English redlinked name. They should have been corrected at that point. Instead, you and user:NeverDoING have been persistently recreating these incorrect categories, then recategorising on that basis.

There are two problems:

• "Arandelas" is not a category we need or should have.
• They are not even "Arandelas", nor are they washers.

Please do not do thoughtless bulk recategorisations without at least looking if the images belong in those categories. Andy Dingley (talk) 16:14, 3 January 2014 (UTC)

The only way to keep the file on commons is to ask its author, Adrian Younge, if he is willing to publish this image under a free license ({{Cc-by-sa-3.0}} is recommanded). If he agrees he has to send an email to the comons support team as decripbted on Commons:OTRS. Can I request undeletion of images Gilbert Ling (Older).jpg and Gilbert Ling (Younger).jpg as 2 emails were sent to permissions-en@wikimedia.org with requested copyright template from copyright holder but no replies to both emails. Emails were sent at least one week prior to deletion.

Hello JuTa,

I received the message you posted on my account earlier regarding the image I uploaded (S03_06_01_004 image 98). The reason I didn't completely fill out the copyright information was because I accidentally assigned the wrong ID number as the title for that image. I'm uploading a lot of things on behalf of the Brooklyn Museum of Art in New York City, and a mix-up with the numbers could make things confusing for the project. I always intended to delete that entry and then re-upload the image with the correct number (if I couldn't find an easier option), but I haven't heard back from my supervisors or any of my co-workers on how to do that (I'm very new to the upload process). If you would like to delete that image yourself, feel free to do so and let me know when it is completed, or you could simply inform me how the process works. I apologize for any confusion and hope to hear from you soon.

About the Copyright status of Antonio Mahfuz.jpg

Thank you for your taking of time to inform me about the Copyright problem that you encounter with the file File:Antonio Mahfuz.jpg that I recently uploaded.

I am sorry that have to confess to you that I don't know how to get the documentation that you need to allow the picture be shared under the rules and regulations of Wikimedia standards. I thought, erroneously, that the fact that Facebook corp. in its Statement of Rights and Responsibilities (about "Sharing Your Content and Information") - clearly stating that "When you publish content or information using the Public setting, it means that you are allowing everyone, including people off of Facebook, to access and use that information, and to associate it with you (i.e., your name and profile picture)."'

I was under the impression that clear statement would be enough to show that the Facebook user gave me the right TO USE the information and, therefor, I gave to Wikimedia, the right to use that information and the link, that I provided, would be sufficient to satisfy Wikimedia requirement. Obviously, I misunderstood the legality of the situation.

Would be so kind as to guide me in this bureaucratical legal entanglement to resolve this situation?

Hi, Facebook imgages are generally not accepted on commons as far as I know. But the source you given is not from facebook. If you know or can find out who the original fotografer is, you could try to contact him and ask him if he willing to release the image under a free license ({{Cc-by-sa-3.0}} is recommanded. If he agrees he has to send an email to to commons support team as describted in Commons:OTRS. regards. --JuTa 20:18, 5 February 2014 (UTC)

I know the conversation is over, but just so you understand, Facebook does not take over the copyright of any intellectual property content (pictures, videos, etc.). By uploading, you are giving Facebook a temporary license to use your content. This is the reason Facebook content cannot be used on Commons without the permission of the original author. To quote Facebook's Help:

Do I retain the copyright and other legal rights to material I upload to Facebook?
Yes, you retain the copyright to your content. When you upload your content, you grant us a license to use and display that content.

It's also this way to protect them in the case that a user infringes someone else's copyright (which happens often).The Haz _talk 21:58, 18 February 2014 (UTC)

Hi, I guess you talking about File:Messerschmitt Bf 161.jpg. Well the souce page does not list any fotografer or other inications that this foto yould be in the public domain. And as long we dont know who took this foto and when he/she died (or is still alive), we cannot determine its copyright status. In most countries the auther needs to be dead for more than 70 years to mak his work public domain. So: I'm afraid but I don't see a realistic chance to keep that image on commons. regards. --JuTa 21:30, 18 February 2014 (UTC)
