Hello. There have been many inconsistencies regarding the evaluation of images in Commons, mainly on the issue of resolution and sharpness. Question

Hola Jebulon. Me doy cuenta de que las líneas horizontales superiores de File:Placa da torre de Vilanova dos Infantes - Celanova - Galiza VI.10.jpg no están como deben (rectas). La línea horizontal inferior sí está recta (o eso creo). Para mi es evidente que hay un defecto.

Tú dices que la imagen está torcida (tilted). ¿Lo dices por las líneas horizontales o por las verticales? Para mí, las verticales están bien.

Si lo dices por las horizontales, lo siento, no he sido capaz de hacerlo mejor, creo que da igual que lo intente de nuevo, pues ya he invertido bastante tiempo.

Lo intentaré con Gimp. Lo malo es que hace seis años que no lo uso, aunque he llegado a entender el programa aceptablemente. Con Lightroom no soy capaz de rectificar ese defecto. Quizás mi problema sea que el único ordenador que tengo es un portátil de 13 pulgadas (la economía no me permite comprar un ordenador de sobremesa) y que por tener un monitor muy pequeño pierdo muchísimo tiempo enderezando imágenes. Petit coup d'oeil

Je viens de verser : Mâchoire de renne Paul Tournal. MHNT PRE 2010.0.93.1.jpg. Peux-tu jeter une coup d'oeil à la légende car tu connais mon gout pour l'orthographe primitif, voir antéprimitf. Le cailloux est émouvant et personne ne se souviens de ce pharmacien de Narbonne qui avais trouvé avant tout le monde l'homme fossile. Cette pièce faisait partie de l'exposition sur la préhistoire que nous avions montée à Toulouse l'an dernier et qui viens d'être inaugurée au Palais de la découverte. Exposition qui devrait être familière au Wikipediens car les objets sont déjà versés dans Commons. C'est vrai que parfois un petit rien change de tout à tout le rendu d'une image, parfois un pas à gauche (ou à droite), parfois un petit réglage de l'apareil ou encore une petite retouche, et hop - la photo n'est plus la même. That tag galleries is my (unfortunate) invention from the early days of VI, so allow me to explain... If an image is promoted to VI status and there is a link to a gallery in the scope the bot will automatically tag it with a values image logo like this:   (the {{VI-tiny}} template). The purpose of this is to highlight the image in that gallery such that gallery users can see it is a VI within that scope. If there is not a gallery in the scope, the bot does not know how to tag it. Thus, it is instead listed at Commons:Valued image candidates/tag galleries. The objective of this page is that users shall consider if there are relevant existing galleries in which the image already exists or could be placed, and where the tag could be added to show the VI for the gallery users. Alternatively create one or more new galleries to highlight the image. Once processed, it shoudl be removed from the page.

The problem is that no-one maintains that tag subpage and processes them (there are more than 1500 unprocessed entries there). Thus, most of our VIs are not highlighted in suitable galleries. I can only urge every VI nominator to help clean up the tag page. --Slaunger (talk) 18:22, 5 February 2012 (UTC)

Victoria Eugenie, Princess of Battenberg

Hello Jebulon,

Thanks for all the kind words. What is the source for this coat of arms? As a female descendant of Queen Victoria, she would not be able to bear the Royal Arms of the UK in her coat of arms, so I think the arms maybe wrong. I have this book called: 'The Royal Heraldry of England' by J.H. Pinces & R.V. Pinces, which has the blazon of all of the members of English and British royal families. It says:

VICTORIA EUGENIE ("ENA") PRINCESS OF BATTENBERG, QUEEN OF SPAIN, 1887-1969, who married, in 1906, Alphonso XIII, King of Spain, K.G., was granted by Royal Warrant, 1 March 1906, On a lozege Her paternal arms with an inescutcheon of Saxony, all within a bordure gules charged with eight lions passant guardant or; and for supporters Two lions guardant double queued or, each supporting a banner of the Royal arms. (Pinces & Pinces, p.257)

”

This would make more sense as she could bear the arms of her father (Battenberg) plus the arms of Saxony (Prince Albert), as a descendant from her mother (Princess Eugenie), of the House of Saxe-Coburg & Gotha. The supporters are definitely those of the Battenbergs; Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburg, a descendant of the Battenbergs (later changed to Mountbatten), still uses one of these double-tailed lions on his coat of arms.

Indeed the bookplate and her arms as the Queen of Spain seems to show your version. Maybe a question with a Spanish heraldry expert would be better. She is I think a member of both the British and Hessian royal families. She was given the status HRH just before the wedding by the King Edward VIII of the UK, so maybe that was when she received her 'English' arms from the College of Arms. Also when she married a treaty was signed between the UK and Spain, so I think everybody considers her a member of British royalty and not so German. Her arms are weird in my opinion, as a female-line descendant of Queen Victoria, she is definitely not allowed to use the royal arms undifferenced. The practice of putting paternal or 'dynastic' arms in front of the arms of a country is European practice and not English, this could mean that the arms were made after she got married without consultation from the College in London.

The blazon I gave you was given to her on the 1st March 1906, she was married 31 May 1906 (tragic day, with the bomb and stuff), so she didn't get to use the coat of arms for very long anyway! Regards, Sodacan (talk) 03:20, 9 February 2012 (UTC)

As written here there are 41 TV channels and 32 radio channels broadcasted from the tower. J'avais un problème avec les verticales vers les bords en haut. J'ai appris ça à la dure : on voit beaucoup mieux les parallèles que les perpendiculaires, et les bords de la photo sont terriblement droits. les parallèles. Les gouttières et les pilastres avaient l'air de s'écarter en montant, mais c'est bon maintenant. Je vais de ce pas promote cette photo. --Coyau (talk) 22:19, 8 March 2012 (UTC)

"sharpening halo"

Ce n'est quand même pas dramatique, tu sais, il faut vraiment bien regarder... Mais c'est surprenant, parfois on a des échecs incompréhensibles, et parfois des succès inattendus. J'étais persuadé que celle-là ne passerait pas, et j'ai même aquiescé au premier jugement négatif, pourtant quelqu'un est venu à la rescousse malgré ça, et un deuxième a confirmé. Der Leuchter, der von der Decke kommt, kann nicht genau zentiert hängen, denn so schief war mein Kamerastandpunkt nicht, dass er so nach links versetzt hängt. So ist zumindest meine Sicht. Voy a subir ahora mismo (dentro de un poco) dos nuevas versiones de las imágenes File:Eagle Power on Land fountain Vienna.jpg y File:Die Macht Zu Lande Power on Earth Michaelertrakt Vienna.jpg. Creo que hay menos aberraciones cromáticas.

He estado comparando las fotos. Es posible que hayan empeorado. Las aberraciones cromáticas han mejorado, pero los bordes son más duros. No es lo mismo variar una imagen RAW que una imagen JPG, como ya sabes: Siempre que alteras una imagen JPG empeoras algo.
