Midyeler

Midye resimleri çok güzel, teşekkürler. Bir sayfada geri çevirdim zira altyazıda Kadıköy çarşısına atıf vardı ve ben İstanbul'u, Kadıköy'ü filan güzel yerlerimizi tanıtmak arzusuyla oralara bağ vermiştim. Bir başka yerde ise "dolmanın ayrıntıları" yazısı ile resmi bıraktım. Midyeleri tutan parmaklar çok zarif, Rusya'da yaşadığınızı belirttiğiniz için "bu kız Rus ve piyano çalıyor" diye bir tahminde bulundum. Belki de yanıldım. Bir rica

Sir, siz bu resim işlerinden anlıyorsunuz galiba. Dün bir Hulusi Öktem maddesi yaptım; internette kitaplarının (hatta galiba kendisinin de, İstanbul Bandosu ile birlikte, benim ulaşamadığım bir kaynakta) resimleri var. Hepsinin üzerinden 100 yıl filan geçmiş. Böyle eski resimleri yüklemek mümkün galiba. (Ben kendi çektiklerim dışında resim yüklemiyorum, çünkü telif hakkı işini bilemediğimden geçmişte laf işittim.) Selam. Bir yerlerde Türk sineması maddesini yapıyorum da bizim yönetmenlerin çoğunun resmi olmadığını, film afişlerinin de nedense Commons'a yüklenmediğini gördüm. Bana bir Ömer Kavur'un kendi maddesindeki çok güzel resmini (olmadı Metin Erksan'ınkini) Commons'lasanız, bir de oralarda varsa "ödüllü" bir(kaç) Türk filmi afişi bulsanız, yoksa yükleseniz... Maalesef isteklerinizin hiç birine olumlu yanıt veremeyeceğim. Çünkü hem afişler hemde ölmüş kişilere ait fotolar adil kullanım gerekçesi ile commonsta bulundurulamıyor. Hi Takeaway, I took away the Turkish cuisine cat. You know, this soup or stew is made all the same in both cuisines, the only minor difference is in the serving: In the Latin table it comes with shredded Parma cheese on it. So I had a plate of "Yeşil mercimek" (Green lentils in Turkish) before me and I added some shredded parmigiano on it; suddenly it belonged to two cuisines. :-) Now that I remember, I must add "homemade stew" to that one... --E4024 (talk) 07:41, 8 June 2015 (UTC)

Categories

If an image is categorised in one of the subcategories, you don't need to also add the main category. For instance, if an image is put into sub-category:Turkish kofte, it shouldn't also be put into the main category:Cuisine of Turkey. Yahu Fenerli (tek kusurun bu :-) hani En:WP'da filan "teşekkür" mesajları var, "Turkish coffee", "baklava" resimleri vb içeren. Türkçede de ona benzer bir şey yapsanıza; bak bu resimde "afiyet olsun" bile var. Oradaki bazı alaturka saçmalıklara sinir olduğumdan uzak duruyorum ama ortalıkta dolaşabilecek teşekkür mesajlarında -benim yaptığım değil ama benim resmini çektiğim- bir kurabiye imgesi olsa itirazım olmaz. Ben özellikle yeni kullanıcıların yaptıkları olumlu her değişiklikten sonra teşekkür etmeyi ihmal etmemeye çalışıyorum ki şuraya da bakarsanız 2.242 kez teşekkür etmişim. Zennibe

Gençliğimde "Zennube" diye bir şarkı vardı ama "Zennibe"yi hiç duymamıştım. Alaturka VP'deki voleybolcu kızlarımıza bakarken farkettim, "Türk kadın voleybolcular" diye bir kategori yok (!) ama hem Zennibe Yıldız hem de "Zennibe yıldız" maddesi var, ayrı ayrı. Beats me! Tried to detect but couldn't. If it were some kind of "bad" butter (or margarine, I don't know why) you could have understood that. Not a normal (common) practice but I wonder if it could be tulum. When you have a good grilled fish, you really don't need anything else other than a cold glass of rakı, at least in Turkey... * Back again. First of all I looked into your edits on this file and there should be nothing to disturb you personally. Sometimes when dealing with things that come as absurd, silly, ignorant or whatsoever to me in Wiki sites, I may give "pointed" reactions. At times, this is just improvising, as an emotional outburst, at others I do it on purpose to attract attention to something (many times it served) with which otherwise nobody is interested. Yesterday I noticed a "Category:Grand Muftis of Turkey". Interesting, because in Turkey we don't have any "Grand Mufti". The only person we had close to a Grand Mufti was a "minister of government" -therefore more a politician than anything else- on religious affairs, before Turkey accepted secularism. (Transition period from Empire to Republic, 1920s.) Why would there be a category with this name? On the other hand, there was a category on Ottoman Grand Muftis. Therefore I began to clean up the category, and saw that almost all the images were about "Ottomans". (What does "Illustrations of Ottomans by Jean-Baptiste Vanmour, 1707" tell you? Frankly I don't know of any Ottoman Grand Muftis, as such, either, but that is another story.) Look at the files I evacuated from the category:They are Ottoman people. Anachronical. Why do you think people, seeing that these were Ottoman people added them to the "Turkey" category, instead of the "Ottoman" one? How do we know these people are Turks and not Bosniaks, Albanians, moslem Jews, Hungarians etc? Why does one add "Category:Fur clothing of native people of Turkey" to an Ottoman of 18th century? When people refer to "Turkey" we understand 18th Century Ottoman Empire? Are Romania or Hungary or Serbia parts of Turkey? (Please do not lecture me on Turkish history; I already studied too much). "Turkey" in WP brings to mind modern-day Turkey, at least to common, ordinary reader.

* Speaking about modern-day Turkey, when I was working on that stupid (sorry) category I also got heated up with pictures like the one I edited just before this talk (my previous edit). A common tourist who comes to Istanbul, and sees people in certain dress may take them as Turks (especially if his/her culture is limited to WP and similars) but people who "contribute" to WP "are supposed to know" what pictures they are taking and how to use them. If they do it in a certain way, they give the right to knock down the presumption of good-will, because I have seen many of these guys discussing heavily on any matter relating Turkey and I have no doubt that most of them really know what Turks wear and what not, or who wear what and which brand of bag they may carry with the dress.

* Look, Steenberg. I lived in "Mitteleuropa" for several years. I had interesting observations. There are millions of Turks living in that part of the world. Some of these people have Turkish nationality, others the nationality of the host country (Austria, Germany, Liechtenstein, Switzerland, in alphabetical order) and some of them have both (one "Turkish" and one "European" passport). I noticed how the press and other public opinion shapers called a woman "Turkish" when the news was about one with a headscarf, and "Austrian", "German", "etc" when it was about a painter, pianist or whatsoever. (Possibly the lady with a headscarf was a citizen only of Austria, and the pianist only of Turkey, but that didn't matter.) Sometimes the question was more intricate or subtle, the piano playing lady was called with the name of the city, "Viennese", as if she had no nationality, but the lady who looked like "the other" was always called "Turkish" even if she was born, grown up and citizen of only a Mitteleuropean country.

* I hope by now you understand me. It is not a "file" question. It is an attitude question. Have you worked in DE:WP? Go look for my edits; I could not manage to add category "Turks" to some Turkish artists. You know why, I was told, "they were married to Austrians!

* Dear colleague, racism is out there, like the air. It enters through our pores. It is subconscious. Are you white? Next time you take a train and surprise yourself looking for a seat beside a white person, remember me. Not satisfied? I'm sorry.

Bir gazeteci-yazar ve TV "personality"sinden bahsediyoruz. Şu an KD olmasa yarın olacağı kesin. Bak ben Katalancada maddesini yaptım ve devriye kontrolünden de geçip onaylandı. Bu hanımın maddesi TR'de de düzgünce, kaynaklarla yazılınca kimsenin karşı çıkmayacağından eminim. Hem karşı çıkılsa, silinse bile ne olur ki? Her zaman herhangi bir dilde maddesi açılabilecek bir kişinin resmini Commons'tan silmek niye? Burada tonla kullanılmayan foto var. Günü gelir, kullanılır. Hi. Please don't teach me what I already know. The DR was not correctly made and at weekends I generally use a mobile phone with which it is difficult to make that separation. All in all I did not remove a "visible" (correct) or proper DR. (BTW if one is opened of course I will have a couple of words to say on PKK terrorism. Turkish hoax flags

When I read Commons:Deletion requests/File:Yenicubuk.png, I have looked for more Turkish hoax flags uploaded by the same user and have nominated them for deletion. Some of them were kept, because they were still in use on Wikipedias. Therefore I removed them from the Wikipedias three weeks ago. Now I was going to nominate the remaining files. Yeah, tell me about it. I started on a similar job, fixing up Category:Association football players by country earlier this year and started Commons:Categories for discussion/2017/01/Category:Association football players by country but it's a shit ton of work and I gave up on it after a few days and it doesn't seem like there's anyone else interested in fixing it either. Ideally it should be fixed, since it's sort of a Twitter SJW shit storm waiting to happen, but it's amazingly boring to do manually. :-) TommyG (talk) 18:37, 14 July 2017 (UTC)

Removing by country category template

Hi, E4024. I was wondering why you removed the {{By country category}} template from Category:Kickboxing by country. When you did that, a couple of things were lost that need to be there: the category Category:Kickboxing and the {{Metacat}} template. I have added them back manually. Don't ask me why, I like the detail of the bottle behind the grille, in Old pickup 02.jpg. Is it a home-made expansion tank for the radiator?

Hi. I'm not fighting against anything or anyone. Just the opposite. I waited for the discussion to close in order to respond to a stupid talk I recently noticed. I wish you could show the same attention to the insults I have been receiving from a couple of users, without any provocation, and in a persistent manner. Here and in the WPs I work/ed I generally avoid(ed) complaining about other users' behaviours; but as an admin if you are concerned about not having noticed them and would like to take action with regard to them, I can show you several examples: Look at the DR's closed yesterday (31) and you will find at least two. (If you can see them, they will lead you to other insults I have received from the same people.) Yann, I'm a good contributor here (I know that, no need for third party confirmation) and deserve as much or as little respect and protection as any other user, and I'm stressing this to you in your capacity of admin. In short, this is part of a group of disruptive nominations, and unless a nominated file really is problematic, its discussion should be kept as a matter of procedure. I'm trying to find it on the deletion log. Meanwhile, do you have some reason to say that this image should be deleted? Thanks for the "good-faith user" thingy, Nyttend, this compliment is very kind of you; normally I'm more accustomed to receive insults here that I am too surprised how admins cannot see and say a word to people who feel no remorse in insulting volunteers trying to contribute to a community effort.

As regards this pic, my opinion on the image -if I had written it at the discussion that I avoided to participate- would not have been all that different from what I have just opined at Commons:Deletion requests/File:Shelly and Freya Harris (17193397618).jpg. However, I looked into the cat that was added to the file yesterday and there is at least one more similar image (File:Ama la Vida etc) in there. That means other people do not share my view and I respect others' views. Human beings deserve respect.

With regard to your concrete question: I was only trying to say that there was nothing strange in discussing the deletion of that file; your probable opening the DR again is of little -if any- interest to me, as I already imagine the possible result. DR reasons

Please do the DR nominations with full name of the reasons. Abbreviations can cause bewilderment for not well experienced users who were registered recently and received mysterious symbols on a own uploads. Ideally, the reasons have to contain a hyperlink to our rules also.
Full reasons could be also quick processing by Administrators.

I will try my best but I have a difficulty in understanding why while many users, including admins, use abbreviations like DM, PD, CC, TOO, FOP etc, and in many cases without any hyperlinks, you chose to single me out. You know I accepted you to the Good Admins Club and this is why I dare question your acts. (I mean as a good admin I know you will accept criticism.) If not, I would hesitate to irritate any admin. Let me give you two examples from Taivo, a very mature person and the mellowest admin I have known in Commons until today: Both at Commons:Deletion requests/File:Werner Machold.png and Commons:Deletion requests/File:Suzy meets Pat.jpg Taivo uses "URAA", for me the code name of a Martian invading our planet. Is that not an issue as important as my UPF, OoS and SFUs? Indeed in every two or three uses I add in parentheses the meanings I load on those abbs (I mean abbreviations :) and I'm sure "anybody" who is capable of uploading a file here is more than capable enough to ask the meaning of any abb.
