Just a quick reminder that the deadline for submitting your most memorable shot of 2023 is swiftly approaching! As tradition holds, since 2018, we've been sharing our favorite captures from the past year with each other. This year marks the sixth iteration of our beloved "Most Memorable Shot" tradition, and we're excited to see what everyone has to share.

Whether you're a member of the Commons Photographers User Group or not, you're warmly invited to participate. Your unique perspective adds to the richness of our community, and we'd love to see the world through your lens.

Dosya buradan değilde AKK çerçevesinde viki:TR'ye yüklenseydi taşıma işlemini kolay yapabilirdim fakat burada biraz bekleme gibi bir zaman kaybı var taşıma işlemi yapabiliyorsan talepteki isme taşıma onayı verebilirmisin? Görseldeki takım bursa büyükşehir belediyespor değil çünkü buradaki linkten formalara bakınca anlaşılıyor. Deletion requests/Copyright Coat_of_Arms_-_Alexandria,_Egypt.svg

Hello, first of all thank you for your work fighting spam on wikipedia. Last week you marked my upload of the high resolution svg vector format of the coat of arms of Alexandria, Egypt as a possible copyright violation and marked it for speedy deletion. I changed your request to a normal deletion request to contest this. You claimed it is a city logo, which can only be uploaded by fair use on local Wikipedias. I can understand the confusion as this is quite common in the USA and other countries. The file I uploaded however depicts the official emblem of the Alexandria Governorate. According to Egyptian law (Article 141 of Intellectual Property Law 82 of 2002) this emblem is treated as an official state symbol and is not an object of copyright. I have corrected the license of the file accordingly. Please check the deletion request page and if you have nothing to add I suggest we close the request after 7 days have passed. Round 1 of Picture of the Year 2023 voting is open!

Wikimedia Commons is happy to announce that the 2023 Picture of the Year competition is now open. This year will be the eighteenth edition of the annual Wikimedia Commons photo competition, which recognizes exceptional contributions by users on Wikimedia Commons. Wikimedia users are invited to vote for their favorite images featured on Commons during the last year (2023) to produce a single Picture of the Year.

Hundreds of images that have been rated Featured Pictures by the international Wikimedia Commons community in the past year are all entered in this competition. These images include professional animal and plant shots, breathtaking panoramas and skylines, restorations of historical images, photographs portraying the world's best architecture, impressive human portraits, and so much more.

For your convenience, we have sorted the images into topical categories. Two rounds of voting will be held: In the first round, you may vote for as many images as you like. The top 30 overall and top 5% of most popular images in each category will continue to the final. In the final round, you may vote for just three images to become the Picture of the Year.

Round 1 will end on 14 October 2024, 23:59:59 UTC.
