Hello, and thank your for sharing your files with Commons. There seems to be a problem regarding the description and/or licensing of this particular file. Please remember that all uploads require source, author and license information. Could you please resolve these problems, which are described on the page linked in above? You can edit the description page and change the text. Uploading a new version of the file does not change the description of the file. This page may give you more hints on which information may be missing. Please note that if you won't provide a valid license in 7 days your image will be deleted and if you upload a lot of images without licenses you may be blocked from editing wikimedia-commons. Thank you.

Tip: Categorizing images
[edit]
Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.
Here's how:
1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:
2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".
When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").
Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.BotMultichillT 05:40, 22 March 2009 (UTC)

BBC One
[edit]Hi! Thanks for your work in the Polish Wikipedia, of which I am one of the sysops. Sadly I've just had to revert your changes to the plWiki article on BBC One. Please note the Polish Wikipedia does not accept images that would not be accepted here on Commons - this applies particularly to fair use images which are strictly prohibited on plWiki. The image of BBC One logo that you've added is being seriously disputed on Commons - some people think it's a copyright violation (as you can see in the image page) or at least it's not a free licence. To be honest, our policy on plWiki is not to publish corporate logos exactly because of those restrictions. Please sort this out before adding it again to plWiki - if it's accepted here, than we will be more than happy to see it also on plWiki. Thanks for your understanding. Powerek38 (talk) 17:33, 26 April 2009 (UTC)
Please stop reverting each other on this image; try and work something out (on the image talk page) before you make more edits. I'm sure you're both trying to enhance this image, so it would be great if you could work together instead of against each other. For example, you could agree on the image size, then find out which positioning works best, and finally use valid and simple code. Thanks. –Tryphon☂ 19:26, 14 May 2009 (UTC)

File:Eurovision Song Contest 2010 logo.svg has been marked as a possible copyright violation. Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content—that is, images and other media files that can be used by anyone, for any purpose. Traditional copyright law does not grant these freedoms, and unless noted otherwise, everything you find on the web is copyrighted and not permitted here. For details on what is acceptable, please read Commons:Licensing. You may also find Commons:Copyright rules useful, or you can ask questions about Commons policies at the Commons:Help desk. If you are the copyright holder and the creator of the file, please read Commons:But it's my own work! for tips on how to provide evidence of that.
The file you added has been deleted. If you have written permission from the copyright holder, please have them send us a free license release via COM:VRT. If you believe that the deletion was not in accordance with policy, you may request undeletion. (It is not necessary to request undeletion if using VRT; the file will be automatically restored at the conclusion of the process.) Warning: Wikimedia Commons takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

I need to bring to attention a couple of inaccuracies on the above-mentioned picture:
1 - You show Iceland has having entered in 1998. They were relegated after a series of poor performances. 2 - You also show Cyprus has having never entered the Contest.
I would change it myself, but I am unable to. Thank you. 90.199.71.238 22:12, 27 June 2009 (UTC)

Two queries about the image: What is the source of the underlying map? Also, could you seperate out the Northern Irish counties?--Nilfanion (talk) 12:12, 22 November 2009 (UTC)
- Most of the image is self drawn by me using some PNG files for Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and Rep. of Ireland. I can easily split Northern Ireland up, but do you mean the old Counties or the new Districts? --AxG (talk) 12:34, 22 November 2009 (UTC)
- I assume that you mean the PNGs themselves were your own work, and not just the conversion to SVG format. If someone else created them what is the source of those files? As for counties or districts, districts would be more consistent as they are the current local authority areas (which is how Scotland and Wales are handled). That also means that England should have the unitary authorities shown too... The other option is to use county-level mapping across all regions. Either is fine, but all areas should be handled consistently.--Nilfanion (talk) 13:45, 22 November 2009 (UTC)

Just wonder if you could update the map to highlight County Limerick as also experiencing flooding? The flood waters up the River Shannon, have now, unsurprisingly, reached Limerick. There has been flooding resulting in road closures in County Limerick this afternoon (news link). Further flooding in the Limerick area is likely as the ESB release flood waters from Ardnacrusha (news link). Thanks. 78.137.128.232 15:58, 23 November 2009 (UTC)

Can you explain why does the map you insist on includes Palestine and Kosovo which have nothing to do with Eurovision as EBU does not recognise these entities?--Avala (talk) 21:30, 10 December 2009 (UTC)
- Where does it say that the EBU doesn't recognise Kosovo, one source that I could find was: "Svante Stockselius replies that Kosovo has not yet a broadcaster as a member of the Eurovision. When one is registered, nothing stands in its way."[1]. The map also goes on the basis that more EBU countries recognise these than the ones that do not.[2][3] --AxG (talk) 20:28, 11 December 2009 (UTC)
- Sorry but that is original research. Until Kosovo, Palestine, Ossetia etc. become EBU members (and they can't because they can't become members of the International Telecommunication Union in the case of Kosovo or Council of Europe in the case of others) you can't have the crystal ball map that says well hey maybe they will become members one day and even more ridiculous claim that what happens in political bilateral relations has any bearing on Eurovision. Majority of UEFA members recognise Kosovo, according to your logic we should add Kosovo to the UEFA map? Well not, and not only because Platini (French) dissed them but also because it makes no sense. You can of course upload such a map here all you want but as I understand you want to use this map on Wikipedia and for that it needs to be factually correct. Simply, if you keep on adding Palestine and Kosovo to the map it will not be used on Wikipedia as it will be seen as a political agenda and not a map that corresponds to factual state that can be easily checked here [4]. Adding entities that don't meet those criteria has nothing to with encyclopedic work. I hope you now understand where is the problem.--Avala (talk) 16:05, 12 December 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading File:Eurovision Song Contest 2011 logo.svg. This media is missing permission information. A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or ask the author or copyright holder to send an email with copy of a written permission to VRT (permissions-commons@wikimedia.org). You may still be required to go through this procedure even if you are the author yourself; please see Commons:But it's my own work! for more details. After you emailed permission, you may replace the No permission since tag with on file description page. Alternatively, you may click on "Challenge speedy deletion" below the tag if you wish to provide an argument why evidence of permission is not necessary in this case.
Please see this page for more information on how to confirm permission, or if you would like to understand why we ask for permission when uploading work that is not your own, or work which has been previously published (regardless of whether it is your own). The file probably has been deleted. If you sent a permission, try to send it again after 14 days. Do not re-upload. When the VRT-member processes your mail, the file can be undeleted. Additionally you can request undeletion here, providing a link to the File-page on Commons where it was uploaded (:File:Eurovision Song Contest 2011 logo.svg ) and the above demanded information in your request. |

Copyright status: File:ESC 2014 Map.svg
[edit]This media may be deleted. |
Thanks for uploading File:ESC 2014 Map.svg. I notice that the file page either doesn't contain enough information about the license or it contains contradictory information about the license, so the copyright status is unclear.
If you created this file yourself, then you must provide a valid copyright tag. For example, you can tag it with GFDL to release it under the multi-license GFDL plus Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike All-version license or you can tag it with PD-self to release it into the public domain. (See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of license tags that you can use.) If you did not create the file yourself or if it is a derivative of another work that is possibly subject to copyright protection, then you must specify where you found it (e.g. usually a link to the web page where you got it), you must provide proof that it has a license that is acceptable for Commons (e.g. usually a link to the terms of use for content from that page), and you must add an appropriate license tag. If you did not create the file yourself and the specific source and license information is not available on the web, you must obtain permission through the VRT system and follow the procedure described there. Note that any unsourced or improperly licensed files will be deleted one week after they have been marked as lacking proper information, as described in criteria for deletion. If you have uploaded other files, please confirm that you have provided the proper information for those files, too. If you have any questions about licenses please ask at Commons:Village pump/Copyright or see our help pages. Thank you. |

File tagging File:Channel 5 Logo 2016 SVG.svg
[edit]This media was probably deleted.
|
Thanks for uploading File:Channel 5 Logo 2016 SVG.svg.
Additionally you can request undeletion here, providing a link to the File-page on Commons where it was uploaded (:File:Channel 5 Logo 2016 SVG.svg ) and the above demanded information in your request. |

Hi! I just want to let you know that I have nominated a number of logos of ITV—some of which you uploaded or re-uploaded here on Commons—for deletion as it appears they might actually be copyrightable in England and Wales (the jurisdiction they were created in). As you authored or edited at least some of these files, I'm obliged to let you know that their deletion is being discussed, and that your participation in this discussion would be very welcome indeed. Croatia is already a part of the Schengen Area from a legal point of view. That the ground and maritime border checks will only be lifted next year on January 1 doesn't change that. In this second and final round, you may vote for a maximum of three images. The image with the most votes will become the Picture of the Year 2022.
Round 2 will end at UTC.

Round 1 of Picture of the Year 2023 voting is open!
[edit]Dear Wikimedian,
Wikimedia Commons is happy to announce that the 2023 Picture of the Year competition is now open. This year will be the eighteenth edition of the annual Wikimedia Commons photo competition, which recognizes exceptional contributions by users on Wikimedia Commons. Wikimedia users are invited to vote for their favorite images featured on Commons during the last year (2023) to produce a single Picture of the Year.
Hundreds of images that have been rated Featured Pictures by the international Wikimedia Commons community in the past year are all entered in this competition. These images include professional animal and plant shots, breathtaking panoramas and skylines, restorations of historical images, photographs portraying the world's best architecture, impressive human portraits, and so much more.
For your convenience, we have sorted the images into topical categories. Two rounds of voting will be held: In the first round, you may vote for as many images as you like. The top 30 overall and top 5% of most popular images in each category will continue to the final. In the final round, you may vote for just three images to become the Picture of the Year.
Round 1 will end on UTC.
Thanks,
