Scope and evidence of license

[edit]

@B dash: This template doesn't reference any evidence that it can be used, or in what circumstances. I've found https://www.eumetsat.int/website/home/Images/index.html and https://www.eumetsat.int/website/home/AboutUs/LegalInformation/Aboutthiswebsite/index.html but it only seems to apply to content on the EUMETSAT website itself. I assume that it also applies to content from https://eumetview.eumetsat.int/mapviewer/ because the bottom of the viewer links directly to the Aboutthiswebsite page. It does not address images that appear on, for example, NASA's website, but the template is being applied to images through NASA also, such as File:Humberto 2013-09-10 1445Z.png, File:Humberto 2013-09-09 1730Z.png and File:Erin 2013-08-15 1630Z.png. Do we have evidence that this template can be used for things that aren't sourced directly to EUMETSAT's own website? --Closeapple (talk) 04:46, 8 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

At least until July 2018, the website allowed: "EUMETSAT grants all users the right to use, download and copy information, images, documents and materials from the website on the condition that each information, image, document and material taken from the website carries the EUMETSAT copyright credit "copyright {year} EUMETSAT" (where {year} is the current year)." Terms of service on web.archive. It seems that since 2020-1-1 the terms of use changed, and no commercial use is allowed anymore. This date should mark the limit of usage of this template as a license. --Ruthven (msg) 22:16, 28 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
