Request to categorize

[edit]

Hello. Kindly categorize FoP deletion requests started by Laurel Lodged. I already notifed them before, but they seemed to not categorize deletion requests still, such as this and this. They may had likely opened dozens of FoP-related deletion requests. Regards, JWilz12345 (Talk|Contributions) 23:30, 21 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@JWilz12345: ✓ Done, at least mostly if not totally. --A1Cafel (talk) 03:57, 23 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Hello. It seems Laurel Lodged again made nominations, with no categorizations. Kindly categorize their DRs, like Commons:Deletion requests/File:New buildings in Sumgayit.JPG. Regards, JWilz12345 (Talk|Contributions) 02:09, 1 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@JWilz12345: Done (again)--A1Cafel (talk) 14:43, 2 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
One more request. User talk:Panoramio upload bot pops up on my watchlist with their contribs., and as I view some of their deletion requests, alwayd uncategorized. JWilz12345 (Talk|Contributions) 01:19, 7 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@JWilz12345: Done. BTW, is it possible to bring this to COM:ANU (not means to block him, just let them know about the importance of categorize their DR)? --A1Cafel (talk) 04:25, 7 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@A1Cafel it's up to you. My only concern is that FoP DRs should always be categorized under any of the subcategories under Category:FOP-related deletion requests/pending, so that deleted files can easily be revisited later if works fall in the publiv domain or the country (like Azerbaijan) liberates their laws on free uses of public space. JWilz12345 (Talk|Contributions) 04:46, 7 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Not a fan of bringing someone to ANU, unless serious issues (IMO this hasn't reached that bar)--A1Cafel (talk) 03:40, 8 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Danish sculpture

[edit]

Vonsidering that you have listed so many photographs for deletion and we both tend to repeat the same arguments, I would like to have a more general discussion. Again and again your point is that the sculpture is "quite prominent". I don't believe that is the relevant criteria under Danish law? Isn't the relevant criteria weather the sculpture is the principal subject matter of the photo or weather the photograph is a general depiction of scenery (buildings, landscaping etc). It is impossible to photograph many of the public spaces and buildings in the photographs that you seem to have a problem with without including the sculptures (often from a distance or in an akward angle) since the sculptures happen to be placed in the centre of the public space or in front of the building. That doesn't amke the sculpture the principal subject matter of the photograph.Ramblersen2 (talk) 17:08, 27 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

File:London 2015 (24435531015).jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

FOP tagging

[edit]

Hi A1Cafel, you seem to be very keen on cleaning up Commons when it comes to files not covered by freedom of panorama. You do this by opening deletion requests (like this one). These are the negative cases. Have you also considered working on the positive cases (files that are covered by FOP) like this or this? Categories like Category:Belgian FOP cases/kept are a good starting point. I would appreciate that and I'm sure other users would too. Multichill (talk) 09:24, 11 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Key missing category "Veterans" added to your recently created category about U.S. military veterans.

[edit]

I added [1] the most important- and missing Category:Veterans of the United States to your recently created: Category:Protests at the National Mall against the cuts on veterans (March 14, 2025) Your file uploads even include the word "veteran" in every file name.

Since this may not have been reported in your hometown of Hong Kong, it was a protest by United States military veterans "on the National Mall to protest cuts by President Donald Trump to veterans’ federal jobs, services and benefits." according to the Stars and Stripes here: [2]

Thanks for uploading these files and creating the associated category. -- Ooligan (talk) 21:23, 12 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

No FoP for 2D works in the United States

[edit]

Thank you for your work. I was hoping you could answer a question:

I made a derivative work based on a mural; I converted part of a photo to SVG. Then I got worried because the photo my derivative work is based upon was taken in the United States. I'm worried by derivative work might be removed if the photo is removed. Trying to research the specifics of those rules, I found Murals in the United States by state. Is it likely that many of the files in that category might be subject to "No FoP for 2D works in the United States?"

I've taken "No FoP for 2D works in the United States" to mean "no photos of murals" and clearly that simplification is inadequate. What kinds of factors permit/forbid certain types of US mural photography on Commons? Jerimee (talk) 23:40, 12 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

They are likely to be copyrighted. Derivative work of a copyrighted object still had copyright. --A1Cafel (talk) 03:29, 13 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
So for this Q: Is it likely that many of the files in that category might be subject to "No FoP for 2D works in the United States?"
A: They are likely to be copyrighted.
Want to make sure I've got it right (ish). Thanks for your help. Jerimee (talk) 03:45, 13 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Danish FoP issues

[edit]

Hi, I've notice your good work rooting out copyrighted works. If you get the time before somebody else, I've gathered what I could find in Category:Svend Engelund. TherasTaneel (talk) 16:07, 17 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Similar to UK, there is no FoP for "graphic works" in Hong Kong

[edit]

Hello. Please be notified that the phrase above that you used in your deletion requests can be searched in multiple search engines:

Please consider explaining all deletion requests in detail or I have to revert some of your deletion requests. Thank you. 📅 11:24, 26 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
