English: The John Muir Wilderness is protected within the Sierra National Forest (west) and the Inyo National Forest (east) in the Sierra Nevada, California. The wilderness contains some of the highest and most spectacular peaks of the Sierra Nevada, with 57 peaks over 13,000 feet (4,000 m) in elevation.
