Autopatrol given

Hello. I just wanted to let you know that I have granted autopatrol rights to your account; the reason for this is that I believe you are sufficiently trustworthy and experienced to have your contributions automatically marked as "reviewed". This has no effect on your editing, it is simply intended to make it easier for users that are monitoring Recent changes or Recent uploads to find unproductive edits amidst the productive ones like yours. In addition, the Flickr upload feature and an increased number of batch-uploads in UploadWizard, uploading of freely licensed MP3 files, overwriting files uploaded by others and an increased limit for page renames per minute are now available to you. Thank you. howcheng {chat} 19:41, 27 May 2013 (UTC)

Your bot

Why isn't User:YiFeiBot flagged as a bot? It would be nice if I didn't have to patrol all its edits. Thanks. howcheng {chat} 19:57, 28 May 2013 (UTC)

Thanks for supporting my bot. But Foroa didn't want to (or like, or something else), and blocked it. I don't really know why. [Commons:Bots/Requests/YiFeiBot] --Zhuyifei1999 (talk) 10:26, 29 May 2013 (UTC)

Thanks for your help on moving the Category:Arabic script in non Arabic languages.--Ashashyou (talk) 08:05, 9 July 2013 (UTC)

You're welcome. It's actually quite easy with Cat-a-lot. --Zhuyifei1999 (talk) 08:25, 9 July 2013 (UTC)

Hi Zhuyifei1999. You may want to contribute to this re-started discussion. --Leyo 15:31, 22 July 2013 (UTC)

User:Bidgee page moves

Hi, re your message about file moves without leaving a redirect: this is of course a great concern. But I have manually looked at a few, and only find him moving/renaming his own recent uploads. Can your script compare the upload and move/rename dates (it is acceptable to move/rename files without leaving a redirect if they were recently uploaded and unlikely to be in use anywhere, the definition of 'recent' seems to vary, but up to a month is often accepted, older than a year is very bad). Or if that is too difficult, can your script provide a list of files renamed, with dates of upload and dates of rename/move? Thanks :-) --Tony Wills (talk) 06:44, 1 August 2013 (UTC)

PS He of course does not have an OTRS 'job'!! He is a volunteer like you and me, that donates his time to help the project and obviously helps as he can, as he has the time and energy, as he sees fit. More people helping out OTRS is obviously a good thing, but like most of us I have never gotten myself qualified to do that let alone made it a priority. I don't think it is fair to suggest that because someone has done more than most and gained OTRS status that they are in some way failing because they haven't fixed a backlog !! :-) . I think you should consider striking or removing that sentence. --Tony Wills (talk) 06:44, 1 August 2013 (UTC)
PPS His move of File:Australian Slippery Road Surface sign.png left a redirect, did this not register with your script?, or was this one of the two "over a redirect'? (which I took to mean that a redirect was already there and the file was moved over top, as happens when one reverses a move). --Tony Wills (talk) 06:44, 1 August 2013 (UTC)
Don't seem so.

INSEE-files

Hello, your INSEE bot is going to run for about twice three days! And it does skip correctly the files already categorized. I'll wait for the red cat's the end of run. Question:Is it possible to make at the end a list of Files in Category:Population diagrams of municipalities in France for which the added category has remained red and should be somewhere in Special:WantedCategories? Such a list should represent a shortcut for me, otherwise I have to go over all 90 departments. Anyhow, via Special:WantedCategories they will be found sooner or later. --Havang(nl) (talk) 08:15, 4 August 2013 (UTC)

Sorry, but bad news: Special:WantedCategories only list the first 5000, so it's impossible to find any with only 1 file in it. But I can make a script for checking whether every municipalities category exists or not. --Zhuyifei1999 (talk) 09:41, 4 August 2013 (UTC)
I thought about the use of lists I had made and came with this proposal on fr:wikipédia: fr:Discussion Projet:Communes de France#ajout modèle Autres projets par bot. Again, it's the one way or the other way round: may-be your script can be helpful, making the lists superfluous again, but may-be I have to make these lists anyhow. You have better knowledge about bots and scripts, what do you think is easiest?--Havang(nl) (talk) 10:40, 4 August 2013 (UTC)
What I'm thinking is that for each category listed in The French Wikipedia: check whether it exists; if not, add it to a list (such as User:YiFeiBot/sandbox). And then, maybe manually fix each category. BTW, if you think this is a good idea, I'll run after the current running script finishes, or it will be slower. --Zhuyifei1999 (talk) 10:48, 4 August 2013 (UTC)
I conclude, I do the check by starting with the original 3 lists,
and convert them to lists as I have shown you before, that's the most easy selection of red cat's. After that, I fix them manually. Thanks anyhow. You (your bot) are doing a marvelous job. --Havang(nl) (talk) 12:49, 4 August 2013 (UTC)
You're welcome. --Zhuyifei1999 (talk) 12:53, 4 August 2013 (UTC)

IRC logs

Hi Zhuyifei1999, IRC logs are considered private and must not be quoted at Commons without consent. This is to be considered even in case of public channels or if another public copy of the logs exist. Regards, AFBorchert (talk) 14:15, 5 August 2013 (UTC)

Thanks, I know that. It was a misunderstanding. Steinsplitter said "sure" when I asked for the permission, and I thought he meant posting. --Zhuyifei1999 (talk) 14:26, 5 August 2013 (UTC)

I blocked your bot for a day, because it flooded recent changes.

Please do not run it again until your task will be approved.

I think you need to invite other Commons users to discuss your bot request. I may be mistaken, but it will be good idea for you to ask help from person who knows your native language and English well.

Your request for rollback

Hi,

I'm WorldTraveller101. I noticed your request for rollback. As a non-admin, I brought up some concerns. If you eschew clarification, your request could be denied and archived with little to no additional thought and discussion. If you could clarify my concerns, I'd appreciate it. Thanks. WorldTraveller101  ?  03:08, 11 August 2013 (UTC)

I have 1 granted rollback rights to your account; the reason for this is that after a review of some of your contributions, I believe I can trust you to use rollback correctly by using it for its intended usage of reverting vandalism, and that you will not abuse it to revert-war. For information on rollback, see Commons:Rollback. If you do not want rollback, just let me know, and I'll remove it. Good luck and thanks. Rillke(q?) 08:27, 11 August 2013 (UTC)

  • Please make test edits before you start a batch edit or look at your contribs while doing so. Thank you.

I'm glad you still got it. Just be careful. Good job bud. Best. WorldTraveller101  ?  14:19, 11 August 2013 (UTC)

INSEE-files red cat's adapted manually

Hello I have from the INSEE files population for depts. 1 - 30 already adapted the red cats, see my contributions 11 aug 2013 or the simplified User:Havang(nl)/List. To be followed by depts. 31-60, depts. 61-98 --Havang(nl) (talk) 18:33, 11 August 2013 (UTC)

Cool ;) thanks. --Zhuyifei1999 (talk) 18:36, 11 August 2013 (UTC)
I adapted depts 1-60; I shall do 61-99 after you have finished the population files, just give me a sign. You then may run the maps files with all corrections 01-99. --Havang(nl) (talk) 12:23, 12 August 2013 (UTC)
Thanks. But can you make a list for all the moves (including 61-99) so I can run both population and maps at once? --Zhuyifei1999 (talk) 12:37, 12 August 2013 (UTC)
Is INSEE number + all categories in blue sufficient for you? These are ready: dept 01-06 User:Havang(nl)/List 1 and dept 07-12 [[User:Havang(nl)/List 2. The figure 0 is lacking, you may add it beforehand if needed. I make the other ones accordingly. --Havang(nl) (talk) 15:02, 12 August 2013 (UTC)
Sorry, but I mean only the not directly correct ones, so that the bot can correct itself at the beginning. All of them would be too large to save. --Zhuyifei1999 (talk) 15:24, 12 August 2013 (UTC)
I have to make them for the French wikipédia, in order to get at WP:fr the commons links correctly. It'll be 16 lists, named User:Havang(nl)/INSEE 01-06, User:Havang(nl)/INSEE 07-12, User:Havang(nl)/INSEE 13-18]] and so on. In fact, I used your red-categorised files to be able to find quickly the blue cat's by using hotcat. I now finish first the 16 lists; then try to make the smaller red-to blue list you ask for. --Havang(nl) (talk) 16:09, 12 August 2013 (UTC)
Thanks. I'd better add them to my watchlist. :D --Zhuyifei1999 (talk) 16:13, 12 August 2013 (UTC)
Also, File:Population - Municipality code 46075.svg is in the wrong category. can you fix it? --Zhuyifei1999 (talk) 09:30, 13 August 2013 (UTC)
✓ Done, manually inspecting, I missed probably a few red one's. The lists hereafter are more reliable. --Havang(nl) (talk) 11:20, 13 August 2013 (UTC)

Subpages containing triple Lists

I am making INSEE subpages for each group of 6 departments, to be found at User:Havang(nl) subpages. Each subpage contains implicitly triple lists as follows (exemple for departments 01-06): a last-edit list with all cat's blue User:Havang(nl)/INSEE 01-06, an old-edit-list showing the red cat's among the blue ones [1] and a difference list [2] showing the changes red-blue. Does this suit you? --Havang(nl) (talk) 11:20, 13 August 2013 (UTC)

Cool :) I'll use your list run again when it is approved. (if you missed some red ones) --Zhuyifei1999 (talk) 11:34, 13 August 2013 (UTC)

RE:Blocking

Firstly, no matter which language you use is not important, for that's absolutely off-topic; secondly, I am COMPLETELY unaware of zzg's so-called "contribs", and I don't mind it if he was referring to me; thirdly, I don't care who he's referring to, for someone who "vandalizes" is just him.
Finally, I APOLOGIZE for my blocking you. I'd better unblock you and warn zzg not to vandalize again.Super Wang (talk) 06:48, 17 August 2013 (UTC)

Thanks for fixing recent small errors on my edits

Thanks for making some recent fixing to my changes like this recent one. I am still getting used to some of the templates on common (my home Wiki is usually English Wikipedia). Thanks alot, and happy editing! Sadads (talk) 22:19, 20 August 2013 (UTC)

Can you write a bot script to count the categories using each criteria, and fill in the table? That's a specific thing that would be helpful... JesseW (talk) 03:39, 20 August 2013 (UTC)

ok. But needs time. --Zhuyifei1999 (talk) 03:42, 20 August 2013 (UTC)
No hurry. I've done some pywikipedia programming myself, if you're using that framework and have questions. I just wanted to clarify what I was asking for. Thanks for considering it! JesseW (talk) 04:11, 20 August 2013 (UTC)
You're welcome. BTW, if you want to have a look at the final program, feel free to ask. --Zhuyifei1999 (talk) 06:42, 20 August 2013 (UTC)
Thanks for getting the numbers! I've made a suggestion for possible next steps on Commons talk:List of meta category criteria. Let me know what you think. I would be interested in seeing your code -- can you post it on-wiki somewhere? JesseW (talk) 04:42, 23 August 2013 (UTC)

category movments

Hi, please, remember to use "Roman Catholic" in the categories of dioceses in Italy. :-) Churches in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Rome ;-)--Threecharlie (talk) 19:40, 20 August 2013 (UTC)

Category:Churches in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Rome? Category:Churches in Diocese of Rome says the target is Category:Churches in the Diocese of Rome. --Zhuyifei1999 (talk) 19:45, 20 August 2013 (UTC)
Ok, but please see the mother category Category:Roman Catholic dioceses in Italy, we (not only me) are slowly transforming the old names in those with the "Roman Catholic" suffix, because if it is true that for italians take it for granted that the existing dioceses in Italy are only Catholic, in reality it is not sure and could coexist diocese with the same name but in different religious territorial extension because they are managed by different local authorities religious. I hope I have written in an understandable English ;-)--Threecharlie (talk) 06:31, 21 August 2013 (UTC)
✓ Done the movement :D --Zhuyifei1999 (talk) 06:43, 21 August 2013 (UTC)
Thanks for your work in the categories of dioceses... I would do it myself but I do not know how to move an entire category to another with just the cat-a-lot. Can you explain this to me? Bot error(s)

Please check this and the follow-on edit. The first edit broke the template on top + did weird things to a misplaced location info while the second edit modified the misplaced location a bit. --Denniss (talk) 15:26, 23 September 2013 (UTC)

Yeah, weird. It shouldn't match the first one. But the second isn't. It is placed in {{Information}}. --Zhuyifei1999 (talk) 22:53, 23 September 2013 (UTC)
I'm trying my best to fix that, but it is hard. Currently split from {{Information to avoid that. --Zhuyifei1999 (talk) 11:07, 24 September 2013 (UTC)
Please stop your Bot ASAP, it now starts to break language templates, see here. Please use some testruns to verify it's working correct but don't let it run without monitoring edits. --Denniss (talk) 10:14, 25 September 2013 (UTC)
Ok, I have stopped that part of the job: Robot: Replace "|" with "|" for bad parameter(s) of {{Information}}. And I'm unable to always keep watching all the edits since I have other things to do, and it is mostly correct. I hope it will work fine for the other parts and fix the bugs later (may need a compiler to do that). --Zhuyifei1999 (talk) 11:03, 25 September 2013 (UTC)

Bot error inside gallery

There is no file to do for the last list User:Havang(nl)/INSEE 97-98 and that one has no structured data. The others should be structured suitable for no extra programming. My lists give the right blue categories. You can continue using the list of fr.wp; but if a clean start is easiest, do that. The choises are yours. Thanks already. --Havang(nl) (talk) 17:14, 28 August 2013 (UTC)

PS. Do not forget Haute-Corse and Corse-du-Sud, avec numbers starting with 2A... or 2B... . --Havang(nl) (talk) 17:37, 28 August 2013 (UTC) PS2: My INSEE-files have been successfully used on fr.wp: 20.000 links to commons have been bot-added.--Havang(nl) (talk) 17:40, 28 August 2013 (UTC)

By starting all over, your bot apparently generates the list of redirects and homonymes: [4] ... go on, I can use that list. I have to look into each of them, and then shall correct them manually. --Havang(nl) (talk) 14:04, 29 August 2013 (UTC)
See par exemple User:Havang(nl)/INSEE 07-12 where I have put the corrections to make. Also important for wp:fr commonslinks.--Havang(nl) (talk) 14:31, 29 August 2013 (UTC)
Because of the double run, I could make corrections till nr 67279, where the first run broke. I made also till that number a list of 56 categories to correct. I let your bot finish it all, and keep those 56 for manual correction. --Havang(nl) (talk) 16:39, 29 August 2013 (UTC)
Thanks. --zhuyifei1999 (talk) 16:47, 29 August 2013 (UTC)

I am knowledgable about native wildflowers of the eastern United States, and in the process of uploading a photograph I took of Mertensia virginica, I noticed that a user called Biopics had redirected and recategorizing a lot of wikimedia content from "Mertensia virginica" to "Mertensia pulmonarioides" which is an obscure synonym for Mertensia virginica that seems to appear occasionally in the horticultural trade overseas. In America, where Mertensia virginica is a native species, there is no current controversy over it's name. The accepted scientific binomial name is Mertensia virginica. I went through and tried to correct their mistakes, but before I could even finish, they were changing it back again. I'm not sure how to get in contact with this person, or even if they are a real person or a robot. I tried posting about it on their talk page, but I haven't heard back from them. Their talk page has a notice on it that says "This user is inactive until further notice" which is dated June 2013. Other than Biopics, I believe you are the only other user who is responsible for miscategorizing images of Mertensia virginica, and you apparently are a very experienced wikimedia editor, for this reason, I am asking you for your help in restoring the images of Mertensia virginica to their proper category, and deleting the false category. Right now it looks like a mess. Fritzflohrreynolds (talk) 00:36, 13 December 2013 (UTC)

I apologize that I don't know much about species. All I can do is to revert my edits (already done), patrol your reverts, and request deletion (category redirected). --Zhuyifei1999 (talk) 07:21, 13 December 2013 (UTC)

Thanks for getting back to me. I have not heard back from Biopics yet. As of now the Mertensia virginica category is ok. If you could keep an eye on it, that would be great. Fritzflohrreynolds (talk) 01:03, 14 December 2013 (UTC)

✓ Done on my watchlist. --Zhuyifei1999 (talk) 04:13, 14 December 2013 (UTC)

Hey

Troll. What can I do to help? Bobbychan193 (talk) 15:01, 16 December 2013 (UTC)

Be nicer please. --Zhuyifei1999 (talk) 15:11, 16 December 2013 (UTC)

Small regex bug

Hi Zhuyifei1999. I found a bunch of files last edited by you in Category:Pages using Information template with syntax errors. I was able to fix ~30, but due to the variability ([5], [6], [7]) I missed many. Please have a look. --Leyo 22:35, 19 December 2013 (UTC)

Ok. Looking into it (testing a new regex & finding others). --Zhuyifei1999 (talk) 07:26, 20 December 2013 (UTC)
I've reverted ~20 edits for now. Finding the others will be even harder than the others, and may need a script. --Zhuyifei1999 (talk) 08:07, 20 December 2013 (UTC)
Thanks for fixing. --Leyo 23:11, 20 December 2013 (UTC)

Congratulations! Task 15 was approved. --EugeneZelenko (talk) 15:42, 20 December 2013 (UTC)

Congratulations! Task 13 was approved. --EugeneZelenko (talk) 16:03, 21 December 2013 (UTC)

Hi Zhuyifei1999. You seem to have completed many of the remaining files. Could you please the corresponding sections from the list? --Leyo 19:23, 22 December 2013 (UTC)

I was using VFC in alphabetical order (until File:Boguslavskyi-Raion.png), trying to fix all occurrences, and there's no clear information on which authors are completely fixed. Sorry for that. --Zhuyifei1999 (talk) 09:12, 23 December 2013 (UTC)
How did you manage to work with VFC directly? For me, it did not work since the images are linked from your sandbox only. I've always been looking for a category that contains the files in question. BTW: Sometimes I ended up in fixing more file pages than listed in your sandbox. --Leyo 09:48, 23 December 2013 (UTC)
Regex replace from Category:Author matching Creator template, Creator template not used: /(\| *[Aa]uthor *= *)([^\|\{\}\[\]<>#\*~?!,'"&\n]+?) *(\s*(?:\||\}\}))/ → $1{{Creator:$2}}$3 does most of the edits, but actually I'm not sure it's safe enough. Also the "fixing more file pages" issue might be caused by several reasons. One is that the data in the sandbox doesn't have all the pages listed (see COM:BWR). Another is that the page may be using some language variants of {{Information}}. The third is that category contents change all the time. --Zhuyifei1999 (talk) 10:00, 23 December 2013 (UTC)
The way you did it is not safe enough IMO. See e.g. Category:Photographs by Andreas Schlüter for false positives. As I picked specific categories and check if they correspond to a specific Creator template, there is only a potential for false positives if a file is wrongly categorized. --Leyo 10:11, 23 December 2013 (UTC)
Ok, I won't do the replaces again, if there's too many false positives. --Zhuyifei1999 (talk) 10:17, 23 December 2013 (UTC)
This question of mine remained unanswered. Do you have a solution that might be implemented together with reverting your edits in the mentioned example category? --Leyo 11:13, 23 December 2013 (UTC)
