There is a cooldown period of 7 days or so before redirects can be executed, as done correctly by RussBot. --Foroa (talk) 04:47, 28 May 2013 (UTC)

RussBot handles that perfectly well. Maybe you should learn that there are some rules on Commons. I blocked the bot; after all, there are some reasons for obtaining a bot flag before you do 18000 moves. --Foroa (talk) 11:49, 28 May 2013 (UTC)

User:RussBot also work everyday. (Special:Contributions/RussBot) And there's only A bot carrying out non-urgent tasks should not edit more frequently than once every 5 seconds in Commons:Bots#Bot_speed, I'm only every 10 seconds. Have you ever noticed why RussBot skip some of the categories? It's just because there's too many subpages of them (Never seen more than 50, and even the code on SVN is not the code used). I don't have the impression that you are really understand (or want to) how Commons works.

• First, redirects are not a normal way for renaming categories, normally there is a procedure to be followed as outlined in Commons:Rename a category. Last week, we have been flooded by renamings through redirects, and I was a bit surprised as the alumni naming used to be quite controversial as it is quite different from the en:wikipedia. You can read on Commons:Rename a category about the cooldown period. Moves via COM:DL move the associated talk page and tells in the edit summary where the category is coming from and the authors of the original category.
• Doing mass moves without a bot flag is quite rude as it makes overflow some people's watchlist and creates unnecessary work for the people that mark changes as patrolled.
• RussBot does an excellent jobs, as far as I know, without flaws. It has some limitations as most py bots in the sense that it cannot move template generated categories and has some problems when there are invisible characters in the category names. Another shortcoming is that RussBot only detects double redirects when it uses them, which sometimes takes years.
• RussBot does an excellent job in reporting too as can be seen in User:RussBot/category redirect log. This information is very handy to discover all sorts of move problems, faulty redirects and protected items.
