Hi Mariah. These templates don't meet the requirements of Commons:Licensing I'm sorry. To be allowed here, images must allow free use by anyone, not just Wikipedia or Wikimedia. To get permission you should always use the Commons:Email templates and then there will be no problems. Thanks, pfctdayelise (translate?) 08:47, 18 June 2006 (UTC)
Image Tagging Image:JuliaFischerFISCHER 42CR.jpg[edit]
Thanks for uploading Image:JuliaFischerFISCHER 42CR.jpg. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikimedia Commons (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.
If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag, then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use {{GFDL-self}} to release it under the GFDL or {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain. See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find all your uploads using the Gallery tool. Thank you. Image deletion warning | Image:Yulia_Tymoshenko_calendar_in_a_café_in_Western_Ukraine.jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry. If you created this image, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. If the file is up for deletion because it has been superseded by a superior derivative of your work, consider the notion that although the file may be deleted, your hard work (which we all greatly appreciate) lives on in the new file. |

File:UPAmen.gif has been marked as a possible copyright violation. Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content—that is, images and other media files that can be used by anyone, for any purpose. Traditional copyright law does not grant these freedoms, and unless noted otherwise, everything you find on the web is copyrighted and not permitted here. For details on what is acceptable, please read Commons:Licensing. You may also find Commons:Copyright rules useful, or you can ask questions about Commons policies at the Commons:Help desk. If you are the copyright holder and the creator of the file, please read Commons:But it's my own work! for tips on how to provide evidence of that.
The file you added has been deleted. If you have written permission from the copyright holder, please have them send us a free license release via COM:VRT. If you believe that the deletion was not in accordance with policy, you may request undeletion. The image on Flickr is licensed cc-by-ND, that is not free for modification (non-derivative) and not free enough for Commons. --Martin H. (talk) 15:41, 15 September 2009 (UTC)
- What the hell are you talking about??? According to the Flickr page it is "free to Share — to copy, distribute and transmit the work". I did not modificate the picture... "not free enough for Commons"... this is why wikipedia commons reminds me of the KGB... Mariah-Yulia (talk) 15:49, 15 September 2009 (UTC)
- Sorry, I missed your question. Images on Commons must be free to use by everyone for every purpose including commercial reuse and modification. This image was and still is not free for modification, so it is not freely licensed as required in Commons:Project scope#required licensing terms. I disagree with your last sentence, for me it seems like you not read the basic instructions in Commons:First steps and Commons:Flickr (and even the upload form for Flickr files...), so no reason to compaint. --Martin H. I got the image from Yulia Tymoshenko's official website. The photo was made at the 45th Munich Security Conference 2009. I presumed it was made by Harald Dettenborn. Since the Munich Security Conference released all there pictures under a free license they must have done the same with this one. Unblock granted[edit]
In future, you'll need to:
A. Be very careful about licensing in the future
B. Ask if you're in doubt, before uploading. (COM:AN would probably be a good place).
Failure to do that will result in you being reblocked. Adam Cuerden (talk) 20:37, 6 April 2010 (UTC)

Hi! Just to note, it may be better to use {{Attribution}} - which is the exact translation of the copyright status given on the Ukrainian Wikipedia. That said, the way you set it up is pretty reasonable. May want to just ask Leonst which he prefers - I would, but my Ukrainian is... not up to the task. =) Adam Cuerden (talk) 10:48, 29 April 2010 (UTC)
Your Flickr uploads[edit]
Hello Mariah-Yulia!
Thanks a lot for your contributions! Thank you for transferring images from Flickr to Commons! Two hints ahead:
- NEVER forget the {{flickrreview}} tag in files from flickr that you have uploaded
- Always upload the highest resolution of a photograph that is available on flickr
- You can use this tool for your flickr uploads. It makes the hole procedure much easier and faster for you!

|
Thanks for uploading File:Vidsich 4.JPG. This media is missing permission information. A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or ask the author or copyright holder to send an email with copy of a written permission to VRT (permissions-commons@wikimedia.org). You may still be required to go through this procedure even if you are the author yourself; please see Commons:But it's my own work! for more details. After you emailed permission, you may replace the {{No permission since}} tag with {{subst:PP}} on file description page. Alternatively, you may click on "Challenge speedy deletion" below the tag if you wish to provide an argument why evidence of permission is not necessary in this case.
Please see this page for more information on how to confirm permission, or if you would like to understand why we ask for permission when uploading work that is not your own, or work which has been previously published (regardless of whether it is your own). The file probably has been deleted. If you sent a permission, try to send it again after 14 days. Do not re-upload. When the VRT-member processes your mail, the file can be undeleted. Additionally you can request undeletion here, providing a link to the File-page on Commons where it was uploaded ([[:File:Vidsich 4.JPG]] ) and the above demanded information in your request. |

Autopatrol given[edit]
Hello. I just wanted to let you know that I have granted autopatrol rights to your account; the reason for this is that I believe you are sufficiently trustworthy and experienced to have your contributions automatically marked as "reviewed". This has no effect on your editing, it is simply intended to make it easier for users that are monitoring Recent changes or Recent uploads to find unproductive edits amidst the productive ones like yours. In addition, the Flickr upload feature and an increased number of batch-uploads in UploadWizard, uploading of freely licensed MP3 files, overwriting files uploaded by others and an increased limit for page renames per minute are now available to you. You are, I am sure, well aware that "Kharkov" is an established spelling, given that it's the standard transliteration of the Russian name for the place. Had you asked that the name be changed because the Ukrainian variant is better than the Russian variant, or otherwise looking at the differences between the two languages, it would have been reasonable to consider, but your presentation of it as a typographical error was quite clearly disruptive and will not be rewarded. - I think you are getting the wrong impression here... The only thing I want here is Wikipedia to use Common English names. Common English name for the city is Kharkiv. Do you agree that the Common English name for the city is Kharkiv as of 2015? Let's leave nationalism out of this discussion. — Yulia Romero • Talk to me! 15:34, 8 November 2015 (UTC)
PS You calling my previous clumsy attempt to rename the category "quite clearly disruptive" is really harsh. Please, especially an administrator, assume good faith. — Yulia Romero • Talk to me! 15:39, 8 November 2015 (UTC)
- PS2 Your message here above is aggressive (at least I see it this way). I am of the opinion that Wikipedia administrators should observe a high standard of conduct; this is also the consensus among Wikipedians. Please do not write in a way that can be seen as aggressive. If I was an Ukrainian nationalist (I am actually a territorial nationalist) your rubbing me in the face of any "standard transliteration of the Russian name for the place" looks more like an attempt to irritate me then an attempt to point something out; again we should expect better from Wikipedia administrators. Especially you naming this talkpage topic subject the Russian Cyrillic version of the city name and not used a more NPOV way to do this (as "Renaming Category:Kharkov GAI to Category:Kharkiv GAI") does give me the impression you are trying to bully me. — Yulia Romero • Talk to me! 16:13, 8 November 2015 (UTC)
I am not COM:MELLOW today because of an "outside Wikipedia observation", my bottom line is that Wikipedia administrators should always COM:MELLOW on Wikipedia (outside Wikipedia is also good). — Yulia Romero • Talk to me! 21:19, 8 November 2015 (UTC)
