Loes Wouterson[edit]

Are you going to nominate every picture I planned to upload from OTRS/WikiPortrait? Then I better wait a few days. These extra tags and templates are added for a reason. This image is uploaded and made freely available by OTRS/WikiPortrait, so I don't see why you now mention it to be a copyright violation. Edoderoo (talk) 10:27, 28 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

  • Well, I didn't see any link to a proper source, there was no OTRS ticket number, and I found the exact same image on an external website without any mention of the cc-by-sa/GFDL (you've tagged it with cc-by too, but I guess that was by mistake). Of course, if you can provide a proper source and OTRS ticket, then the image can stay. Prof. Professorson (talk) 10:36, 28 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
You are right, I forgot to mention the ticket number ... This happens once every 35 tickets :-( As a rule of thumb, you can leave images with an OTRS mention aside for OTRS members, as they are in general OK. But feel free to continue to check other images that are new/existing on commons, as there are a lot of images uploaded that are actually a copyright violation. So actually I have to congratulate you because you spotted this image well. Edoderoo (talk) 10:42, 28 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Great! I've removed the template. Is it cc-by or cc-by-sa though, according to the ticket? Because you've applied both licenses and I'm not sure which one is right. Prof. Professorson (talk) 10:55, 28 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

And I thought that my 6000x6000 is full resolution... Congratulations! Bulwersator (talk) 13:36, 29 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

:-) Thanks! Prof. Professorson (talk) 14:46, 29 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

PD-1923[edit]

Hi, in this change could you explain why you would want to change pd-1923 to pd-art? By the way, I understood there was no reason why the original license as on Flickr on upload could not be left with an image file in addition to any weaker licenses that may be added for particular locations. Thanks -- (talk) 23:57, 2 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Well, I don't think we should imply that the flickr user has any rights to the image; leaving the cc-by-2.0 tag on the description page suggests that the flickr uploader must be credited even though the image is public domain and they didn't even create it. PD-Art is precisely the tag that explains why Commons doesn't recognize fraudulent copyright claims on public domain media, hence my using it in this case. Prof. Professorson (talk) 00:04, 3 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Hm, "fraud" seems a strong allegation in this case, particularly as the template does not mention that word. This has been discussed before (I can't remember exactly where, but it was a few months ago), and the consensus was to leave the CC licenses rather than mass removing them for these sorts of batch uploads. You may like to see the additional text, however the PD-1923 is sufficient. I'll not change it but I'm not in a rush to change similar past uploads unless there is a clear consensus or policy to point to. Thanks -- (talk) 00:20, 3 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I find the wording of PD-Art pretty strong myself: claims to the contrary represent an assault on the very concept of a public domain. So according to PD-Art, tagging those PD images with a cc-by license is an assault on the very concept of a public domain, which obviously I think we shouldn't do. I'm not opposed to leaving information about which license was claimed on flickr, as is the case in the Description field of File:Face without skin Page 86.jpg, but it shouldn't be a license tag.
If you find the reference to the discussion you mentioned, I'd be interested. Prof. Professorson (talk) 01:01, 3 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Many thanks for your assistance :-) --Cactus26 (talk) 10:09, 3 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Autopatrol given[edit]

Hello. I just wanted to let you know that I have granted autopatrol rights to your account; the reason for this is that I believe you are sufficiently trustworthy and experienced to have your contributions automatically marked as "reviewed". This has no effect on your editing, it is simply intended to make it easier for users that are monitoring Recent changes or Recent uploads to find unproductive edits amidst the productive ones like yours. In addition, the Flickr upload feature and an increased number of batch-uploads in UploadWizard, uploading of freely licensed MP3 files, overwriting files uploaded by others and an increased limit for page renames per minute are now available to you. Thank you. Morning Sunshine (talk) 11:23, 15 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

lizenz Rosenbauer vehicles[edit]

I've send the Lizenz for 25 Rosenbauer pictures to permissions-nl just 10 minutes ago. Henk Obee 13:11, 16 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Ah okay, I won't tag any more images then. But you should use {{OTRS pending}} on your uploads to show that you're in the process of validating permission. Prof. Professorson (talk) 13:13, 16 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I told you on FT and my UT in detail. I thought that this problem was solved long ago (even five years ago): both authors - is one person - that's me. --Serge Lachinov (talk) 14:14, 17 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I see... It wasn't exactly clear looking at the file description page. Maybe you could write something like Serge Lachinov (aka Alexej von Schultz) in the author field, to avoid such inconveniences in the future. Sorry for the trouble. Prof. Professorson (talk) 14:30, 17 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for your understanding! I will try to return to this issue later. Good luck! --Serge Lachinov (talk) 16:29, 17 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I have got written permission (in Polish) from the copyright holder - the Polish magazine "Wiedza i Zycie" to use the graphics on the Wiki. --Jerry34 (talk) 22:54, 18 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

It will be undeleted by the OTRS team as soon as the permission is processed then. If you don't see anything coming after a while, you can inquire on the OTRS noticeboard. Prof. Professorson (talk) 16:40, 19 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Partido da Terra and Smiling Sun[edit]

You may find permission for Smiling sun in the English version logo. Please check before deleting. The Partido da Terra has also produced a document providing permision for internet use. Please check www.partidodaterra.net --Cgnk (talk) 10:17, 23 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not going to delete anything, I'm not an admin. The tag I added was just to inform you that you didn't add a proper license tag; you should add one. If I refer to the English version of the logo, {{GFDL}} seems appropriate. Prof. Professorson (talk) 10:30, 23 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Well, I fixed it for you. It should be fine now. Prof. Professorson (talk) 12:58, 23 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. You recently flagged the file Earth moon size comparison.jpg. I'm the 3D artist of the picture and I have the full rights on it. May I ask you two simple questions:

  • The warning tells "Please provide evidence of permission by either providing a link to a site bla bla" but I can't see where I can put this link.
  • Is the text on this page explicit enought: lesud astro which will be the link. I put this text : "These files are availiable on wikimedia common under Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike 3.0 licence.").

Thank you for your answer. Lsmpascal (talk) 14:59, 23 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I've added the link on this image, in the Permission field [1]. The permission seems fine, except that if you don't wish to release all the images on that page under cc-by-sa, maybe you should say that "the images uploaded on Commons by Lsmpascal are released under cc-by-sa-3.0", or something like that; otherwise, some people may think they're all free, and start uploading them here. In any case, thanks for your contribution, the image looks great! Prof. Professorson (talk) 15:06, 23 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, and maybe you should link to Wikimedia Commons, to avoid any ambiguity (and for those who don't know what Wikimedia Commons is), and call it Commons, with an "s". Prof. Professorson (talk) 15:08, 23 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I did everything you told me. The link, the text... thank you so much. It's a bit hard to understand something huge like Commons or Wikipedia when you are a newbie. I still have a question : Is it still necessary to send a message to permissions-commons-at-wikimedia.org ? Thank you another time (and for your comment too :) Lsmpascal (talk) 15:18, 23 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
No, I don't think it's necessary now. Just include the link to that page on your future uploads, to avoid other people tagging your images as I did, and it should be fine. (And you forgot to update the French text on your website, so now it doesn't match the English version :) ). Cheers. Prof. Professorson (talk) 15:23, 23 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I updated the french version. Thank you. Cheers.Lsmpascal (talk) 15:40, 23 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Plushes[edit]

Hello,

Please do not create a speedy DR for plushes. Most of your requests are just plain toys, which are not copyrighted. When in doubt please create a proper deletion request. Thanks, Yann (talk) 10:20, 5 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Plain toys are not copyrighted!? Where did you get that from? It's certainly not what COM:DW says. Besides, if you disagreed with my tagging, you should have turned it into a DR instead of just reverting me. Please do that. Prof. Professorson (talk) 12:28, 5 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Since you didn't even bother to explain why these toys wouldn't be protected by copyright, and since Túrelio has deleted a bunch of these in the meantime (File:McSooty & Friends Xmas Charters 2011.jpg for instance), I've placed the tags back. If you still disagree with this, please turn these into a DR, as you should have done the first time. Prof. Professorson (talk) 11:29, 8 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
This is NOT a speedy deletion. YOU have to create a DR if there is a problem, not me. Do NOT add a speedy tag. Thanks, Yann (talk) 12:17, 10 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I don't appreciate your tone. Instead of shouting at me, perhaps you could answer the question I asked: why aren't plain toys copyrighted (and what make a toy "plain", for that matter)? Where did you get that from? Prof. Professorson (talk) 13:24, 10 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

19th century engravings of military[edit]

Please don't be hyper-painstaking about such clear PD-Art of Napoleon times. Checking the modern pictures will be more usefull for project. Shakko (talk) 14:48, 7 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Please provide a source, that's required by policy; it would be more useful than writing "web". Prof. Professorson (talk) 14:57, 7 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I indicated the source for this file: It has been published under a Creative commons licence as you can see here http://www.flickr.com/photos/gaellelenfant/6807161861/in/photostream Superbenjamin (talk) 06:50, 9 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Yes I know. But not all Creative Commons licenses are free; in this case, the image on flickr is under the cc-by-nc-nd-2.0, which forbids commercial usage and derivative works. This is not acceptable here; see COM:L for details. Prof. Professorson (talk) 09:11, 9 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I do not understand[edit]

See if you can understand! These pictures I took them myself with my camera! It's no copyright violation! The truth is I do not understand! Please if you can explain me!!! MadonnaFan (talk) 16:50 10 feb 2012 (UTC)

If you take a picture of a copyrighted image, the resulting picture cannot be released under a free license; the original copyright subsists. See COM:DW and Commons:Screenshots for details. Prof. Professorson (talk) 16:54, 10 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
And why they have to erase the image "Miley Cyrus - Secret". That is not even a violation of copyright. I made it myself! Because I have to delete the!??!!! --MadonnaFan (talk) 16:57, 10 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Answer me!! --MadonnaFan (talk) 17:01, 10 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Calm down, please. Give me a minute, will you?
As I explained here, I think this image is out of scope because it consists entirely of text, and it's not in use. If you disagree, please make your case on that page. Prof. Professorson (talk) 17:04, 10 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Ok! I'm so sorry! It's ok! --MadonnaFan (talk) 17:08, 10 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Moje uliczne galerie w Warszawie[edit]

Welcome once again in this discussion. st New World (Nowy Świat), Cracow suburbs (Krakowskie Przedmieście) - are particularly considered. In the weekends are often closed - always in the summer and host of numerous cultural events. On the sidewalks there are exhibitions as a regular part of the street. Square ks. Jan Twardowski that STREET GALLERY - is a constant. Topics may change, but the exhibition are almost without interruption ever since, from many, many years. I am convinced that this solves the problem. It is hard not to let show exhibitions coming to the gallery! Even if it's just a street gallery. I cordially greet and welcome foreigners to Warsaw. – Sorry my English. Yours sincerely --Jolanta Dyr (talk) 06:48, 4 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

--Jolanta Dyr (talk) 07:29, 5 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Yes I did. The name of the file on flickr shows that the flickr user copied the images from facebook; they are not the author or copyright holder. So please, don't remove the {{Copyvio}} tags, an administrator will take a look and decide what to do. Thanks. Prof. Professorson (talk) 16:39, 9 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
The User:FlickreviewR I confirm that if it was originally uploaded to Flickr.--CourtneyMcCulskeyT 16:44, 9 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
No, it confirmed that it was uploaded on flickr, but of course it cannot know if it was uploaded there originally. Facebook generates image names in the form of "270787_10150710121550076_672725075_19626 750_1520815_n.jpg", so the fact that File:David Archuleta Press Conference 2012.jpg was named that way on flickr shows that the flickr user got the file from facebook. I am Radivoj Lazić. The file: familija-klarineta.jpg you deleted is also mine. Website or this blog ([2]) is my own site or blog. Look: [3]. Email address is my, too. Text on Gravator [4] is the same as in Commons User:Radivojl [5]. I really do not understand. What copyright law. My pictures are my right, and you delete them to me? Why are you doing this? You take my copyright. Please put my pictures back. Copyrights are not violated.

Your VFC installation method is deprecated[edit]

Hello Prof. Professorson, we are aware that using the old installation method of VFC (via common.js, which you are using) may not work reliably anymore and can break other scripts as well. A detailed explanation can be found here. Important: To prevent problems please remove the old VFC installation code from your common.js and instead enable the VFC gadget in your preferences.
