A cheeseburger for you![edit]

Hey! Thanks for devouring those naming targets on the Jeff Attaway pictures. It's quite therapeutic to refresh your contributions every second and see them get renamed in order :) StraussInTheHouse (talk) 22:54, 26 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Hey @StraussInTheHouse: No problem :). I have done them all except two, those two need new names as the desired name already was in use by another image. Kind regards, Wiki13 talk 23:08, 26 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Joyce Geostationary Image[edit]

Hi,

I noticed yesterday that you had renamed File:05S Geostationary VIS-IR 2018.png to File:Joyce Geostationary VIS-IR 2018.png. While this is needed (and a fully reasonable rename), the Australian Bureau of Meteorology did not upgrade Tropical Cyclone 05S to Tropical Cyclone Joyce until today. In the future, it might be best to wait until after the storm is upgraded and given a name before performing the renaming of the geostationary file; we cannot be certain that the storm will strengthen into a named storm, and indeed there are many circumstances where these forecasts do not pan out as intended. :)

Iune(talk) 15:58, 11 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I apologize for the above message; I did not originally realize that you were not the person requesting the file move. — Iune(talk) 19:12, 12 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
No problem. I think it was the original uploader that requested it if I recall correctly. I was only the one doing the rename, which makes me partly to blame for this mistake aswell. I usually assume good faith and that the given reason is correct when doing so. --Wiki13 talk 19:35, 12 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Renaming of church in Yazlovets[edit]

Why did you rename many images of Yazlovets Catolic Church? It's correct name is Костел Успіння, not Костел Внебовзяття, see Костел Успіння Діви Марії.--Anatoliy (talk) 20:57, 5 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I think you should ask the user "Бучач-Львів" for the exact explanation of the renaming requests. He was the one requested them. I only did them because I assumed they were correct. After your notice here I did some digging into this user and he is apparently blocked indefinitely on both the Russian and English Wikipedia for what it looks like disruptive editing. I almost always assume good faith in the correctness of rename requests, but it looks like I should do that less as people seem to take advantage to push unwanted renames through. I'm sorry @Ahonc: for the trouble and the mess you had to clean up. Kind regards, Wiki13 talk 21:36, 5 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Assumption isn't Dormition[edit]

Hi! Thank's for yours yesterday renaming and sorry so-so English. But unfortunatly user from Ukraine Ahonc cancelled renaming.

en:Assumption of Mary translate in ukrainian as uk:Внебовзяття Пресвятої Діви Марії (you can check). Category was named, for eg. Church of the Assumption in Yazlovets. en:Dormition of the Mother of God translate in ukrainian as uk:Успіння Богородиці. Therefore all theese files must be renamed to Внебовзяття (Assumption).

Most of Ukrainians aren't Roman catholics and don't know that Внебовзяття (Assumption) isn't Успіння (Dormition).

User from Ukraine Ahonc knows that, but he does not like this name (Внебовзяття), and he decided to use and abuse his rights. Also Ahonc used AHbot. Thanks for attention. --Бучач-Львів (talk) 07:48, 6 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Kimswerd - Noordelijke ingang Sint-Laurentiuskerk[edit]

--Bouwe Brouwer (talk) 20:36, 6 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Important message for file movers[edit]

A community discussion has been closed where the consensus was to grant all file movers the suppressredirect user right. This will allow file movers to not leave behind a redirect when moving files and instead automatically have the original file name deleted. Policy never requires you to suppress the redirect, suppression of redirects is entirely optional.

Possible acceptable uses of this ability:

  • To move recently uploaded files with an obvious error in the file name where that error would not be a reasonable redirect. For example: moving "Sheep in a tree.jpg" to "Squirrel in a tree.jpg" when the image does in fact depict a squirrel.
  • To perform file name swaps.
  • When the original file name contains vandalism. (File renaming criterion #5)

Please note, this ability should be used only in certain circumstances and only if you are absolutely sure that it is not going to break the display of the file on any project. Redirects should never be suppressed if the file is in use on any project. When in doubt, leave a redirect. If you forget to suppress the redirect in case of file name vandalism or you are not fully certain if the original file name is actually vandalism, leave a redirect and tag the redirect for speedy deletion per G2.

The malicious or reckless breaking of file links via the suppressredirect user right is considered an abuse of the file mover right and is grounds for immediate revocation of that right. This message serves as both a notice that you have this right and as an official warning. Questions regarding this right should be directed to administrators. --Majora (talk) 21:36, 7 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hello - I would like to nominate this image for speedy deletion (it is clearly an official photo that has been copied from somewhere and is not "own work" as claimed), but I am unable to due to some cascade protection that you imposed via fr.wiki. Would you be able to unprotect it, or nominate it for speedy deletion (or just delete it)? Thanks, Number 57 (talk) 18:39, 28 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry for the latereply, but I cannot do anything for you here. I wasn't the one that made the cascade protection (I'm not even an admin here) and the images included in it are added by a bot. If you want to nominate, you could ask an admin for help on Commons:Administrators' noticeboard. Wiki13 talk 15:11, 4 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Wikimedian,

Wikimedia Commons is happy to announce that the 2022 Picture of the Year competition is now open. This year will be the seventeenth edition of the annual Wikimedia Commons photo competition, which recognizes exceptional contributions by users on Wikimedia Commons. Wikimedia users are invited to vote for their favorite images featured on Commons during the last year (2022) to produce a single Picture of the Year.

Hundreds of images that have been rated Featured Pictures by the international Wikimedia Commons community in the past year are all entered in this competition. These images include professional animal and plant shots, breathtaking panoramas and skylines, restorations of historical images, photographs portraying the world's best architecture, impressive human portraits, and so much more.

For your convenience, we have sorted the images into topical categories. Two rounds of voting will be held: In the first round, you may vote for as many images as you like. The top 30 overall and the two most popular images in each category will continue to the final. In the final round, you may vote for just three images to become the Picture of the Year.

Round 1 will end on UTC.

Thanks,
the Wikimedia Commons Picture of the Year committee
