Hi Wagino 20100516, you're now a filemover. When moving files please respect the following advice:

  • Use the CommonsDelinker link in the {{Rename}} template to order a bot to replace all ocurrences of the old title with the new one. Or, if there was no rename-request, please use the Move & Replace-tab.
  • Please leave a redirect behind unless you have a valid reason not to do so. Other projects, including those using InstantCommons, might be using the file even though they don't show up in the global usage. Deleting the redirects would break their file references. Please see this section of the file rename guideline for more information.
  • Please know and follow the file rename guidelines.

Welcome, Dear Patroller![edit]

Counter Vandalism Unit

Hi Wagino 20100516,

You now have the Patroller right and may call yourself a patroller! Please take a moment to read the updated Commons:Patrol to learn how Patrolling works and how we use it to fight vandalism.

As you know already, the patrolling functionality is enabled for all edits, not just for new-page creations. This enables us to keep track of, for example, edits made by anonymous users here on Commons.

We could use your help at the Counter Vandalism Unit. For example by patrolling an Anonymous-edits checklist and checking a day-part.

If you have any questions please leave a message on the CVU talkpage or ask for help on IRC in #wikimedia-commons.

File:Kucing peliharaan (6).JPG has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

Hi Wagino 20100516, thanks for your application to be an image reviewer. The application has been removed as successful, and you've been added to the list of reviewers. You can review all kind of image licenses on Commons. Please see Commons:License review and Commons:Flickr files if you haven't done so already. We also have a guide how to detect copyright violations. Backlogs include Flickr review, Picasa review, Panoramio review, and files from other sources. You can use one of the following scripts by adding one of the lines to your common.js:

importScript('User:ZooFari/licensereviewer.js'); // stable script for reviewing images from any kind of source OR
importScript('User:Rillke/LicenseReview.js'); // contains also user notification when review fails, auto blacklist-check and auto-thank you message for Flickr-reviews.

Javanese fonts[edit]

Are you able to respond to this question I asked here COM:VPC#Javanese font images? If so please reply there. Ww2censor (talk) 18:56, 10 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

For Javanese font, I'll trying to share with my friend who knows more about it. Please waiting some time. Wagino 20100516 (talk) 02:09, 11 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for taking the trouble to check this out. Normally fonts are not copyrightable. Just drop me a {{Talkback}} if you find out something and post your reply here. Ww2censor (talk) 10:11, 11 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Why are you categorizing files that are already in Category:Taken with Nikon Coolpix 2000 into Category:Photos taken with Nikon Coolpix cameras? I take it you're aware of COM:OVERCAT? darkweasel94 07:29, 24 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I'm inspired from Category:Photos taken with Sony Cyber-shot, but it's look like different case. Sorry, I've made some mistake, maybe! Do I need to restore my edits? Wagino 20100516 (talk) 07:57, 24 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I didn't find anything in the Sony category that was also categorized in one of the more specific ones, and if there is, that's surely a mistake as well. So, yes, please undo your edits. darkweasel94 08:02, 24 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Okay! Give me some times to rollback my last edits. Wagino 20100516 (talk) 08:38, 24 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your kindness and best of luck this year Ramon FVelasquez (talk) 07:49, 27 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Photographs by Ramon FVelasquez[edit]

Hi Wagino, I noticed that you are categorizing every photo by Ramon FVelasquez to Category:Photographs by Ramon FVelasquez. I appreciate your efforts but don't assume that an entire category (like Category:San Fabian, Pangasinan) only has photos by Ramon FVelasquez. 2 of my photos were mislabeled (File:San Fabian Pangasinan 1.JPG‎ and File:San Fabian Pangasinan 1.JPG‎). Please carefully check before doing a mass change. Thanks. -- P 1 9 9   14:16, 6 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Likewise, I've just noticed that a number of my photos have been reattributed in the categories to Ramon FVelasquez - please be more careful. Thanks, Simon Burchell (talk) 15:24, 6 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
@P199: @Simon Burchell: I always tried to do a review of my work the next days and this morning you has fixed the error first. I would like to thank you and apology for these errors. Yes! Next time I'll be more carefully to my work. Wagino 20100516 (talk) 02:46, 7 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • I have also been involved in sorting out Ramon's pictures. So I know it's a huge task and sometimes it's easier just to select everything and sort out the exceptions later. Thanks for your work and keep it up! -- P 1 9 9   14:21, 7 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
On behalf of User:Ramon FVelasquez, we thank you Wagino for your great heart and kindness in appreciating the photos.[1] Ramon on short Wikibreak is still awaiting the consensus or voice of Commons administrator if he should retire or continue with commons because of alleged demand for his stopping and or banning due to description and category mistakes, etc. Sincerely for Ramon, Good day.--112.203.176.155 15:03, 17 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Most users likely to get mistakes and I've personally saw Ramon as a great user, probably only a handful of users can donate as much as a collection of photographs like Ramon. I also keep trying to give the Ramon category at the photos that have been uploaded with summary note Author by Ramon FVelasquez in the next time. You're welcome and nice to meet you. Picture of the Year 2013 R2 Announcement[edit]

Round 2 of Picture of the Year 2013 is open![edit]

2012 Picture of the Year: A pair of European Bee-eaters in Ariège, France.

Dear Wikimedians,

Wikimedia Commons is happy to announce that the second round of the 2013 Picture of the Year competition is now open. This year will be the eighth edition of the annual Wikimedia Commons photo competition, which recognizes exceptional contributions by users on Wikimedia Commons. Wikimedia users are invited to vote for their favorite images featured on Commons during the last year (2013) to produce a single Picture of the Year.

Hundreds of images that have been rated Featured Pictures by the international Wikimedia Commons community in the past year were entered in this competition. These images include professional animal and plant shots, breathtaking panoramas and skylines, restorations of historical images, photographs portraying the world's best architecture, impressive human portraits, and so much more.

There are two total rounds of voting. In the first round, you voted for as many images as you liked. The top 30 overall and the most popular image in each category have continued to the final. In the final round, you may vote for just one image to become the Picture of the Year.

Round 2 will end on 7 March 2014. https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Special:MyLanguage/Commons:Picture_of_the_Year/2013/Introduction/en Click here to learn more and vote »]

Category discussion warning

Roasted corns has been listed at Commons:Categories for discussion so that the community can discuss ways in which it should be changed. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this category, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for discussion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it. If the category is up for deletion because it has been superseded, consider the notion that although the category may be deleted, your hard work (which we all greatly appreciate) lives on in the new category.

In all cases, please do not take the category discussion personally. It is never intended as such. Thank you!

Important message for file movers[edit]

A community discussion has been closed where the consensus was to grant all file movers the suppressredirect user right. This will allow file movers to not leave behind a redirect when moving files and instead automatically have the original file name deleted. Policy never requires you to suppress the redirect, suppression of redirects is entirely optional.

Possible acceptable uses of this ability:

  • To move recently uploaded files with an obvious error in the file name where that error would not be a reasonable redirect. For example: moving "Sheep in a tree.jpg" to "Squirrel in a tree.jpg" when the image does in fact depict a squirrel.
  • To perform file name swaps.
  • When the original file name contains vandalism. (File renaming criterion #5)

Please note, this ability should be used only in certain circumstances and only if you are absolutely sure that it is not going to break the display of the file on any project. Redirects should never be suppressed if the file is in use on any project. When in doubt, leave a redirect. If you forget to suppress the redirect in case of file name vandalism or you are not fully certain if the original file name is actually vandalism, leave a redirect and tag the redirect for speedy deletion per G2.

The malicious or reckless breaking of file links via the suppressredirect user right is considered an abuse of the file mover right and is grounds for immediate revocation of that right. This message serves as both a notice that you have this right and as an official warning. Questions regarding this right should be directed to administrators. --Majora (talk) 21:36, 7 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I think something went wrong...[edit]

...with your edits here. This is a satellite image, certainly not taken with a Nikon and not by whomever that is. Huntster (t @ c) 08:48, 30 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Huntster: Thank you for you correction. I'll more be carefully next time. Wagino 20100516 (talk) 09:20, 30 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Wikimedian,

Wikimedia Commons is happy to announce that the 2022 Picture of the Year competition is now open. This year will be the seventeenth edition of the annual Wikimedia Commons photo competition, which recognizes exceptional contributions by users on Wikimedia Commons. Wikimedia users are invited to vote for their favorite images featured on Commons during the last year (2022) to produce a single Picture of the Year.

Hundreds of images that have been rated Featured Pictures by the international Wikimedia Commons community in the past year are all entered in this competition. These images include professional animal and plant shots, breathtaking panoramas and skylines, restorations of historical images, photographs portraying the world's best architecture, impressive human portraits, and so much more.

For your convenience, we have sorted the images into topical categories. Two rounds of voting will be held: In the first round, you may vote for as many images as you like. The top 30 overall and the two most popular images in each category will continue to the final. In the final round, you may vote for just three images to become the Picture of the Year.

Round 1 will end on UTC.

Thanks,
the Wikimedia Commons Picture of the Year committee
