  • Túrelio, while it is consistently gracious of you to provide your photograph(s) to anyone who asks, in the case above, I think a review of this organization's political agenda might make you think twice. Please see the Focus on the Family article on English WP, or just Google this organization. They have been designated as a hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center. Surely, even Mother Teresa herself would not have approved of her image being used to promote a group whose sole mission is to promote intolerance, bigotry and hate - all under the ruse of religion. If you can reconsider, or even rescind, your permission for the misuse of your work of this revered person by this hate group, I respectfully urge you to do so. Thank you. 2602:306:BD61:E0F0:F058:D2DA:DEEC:BAC6 08:34, 22 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Hi 2602,
I don't feel enough informed to judge whether SPLC's position towards "Focus_on_the_Family" is objective.
But anyway, AFAIK you cannot prevent anybody from using a work which has been released under a free license, provided they are using it according to license terms. This is a pain for everybody who wants to release portrait images, especially if the depicted person means something to them. That's the main reason why I am very reluctant to upload such images. --Túrelio (talk) 12:45, 22 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, my name is Yee Ting Ma. I am an editor of Religious Education Resource Centre (RERC) from Hong Kong. (website : www.rerc.org.hk/index.htm)

I am writing to ask for permission of using the photo of "MotherTeresa 090.jpg" in your album on a PowerPoint presentation for young people. (FYI:http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Image:MotherTeresa_090.jpg)

We are an non-profit educational publisher and now working on a textbook of religious and ethics studies. We are also creating a PowerPoint presentation (in-class activity) for Grade 9 students. We are looking for a photo of Mother Teresa and find yours is great. We are hoping to have your permission in using it.

We’d be very grateful if the permission is granted. Your site will surely be acknowledged.

Thank you very much. I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Regards, Yee Ting email: yeeting@rerc.org.hk

Hi Yee,
as the image is under a free license and I only asked for notification after use of the image, you don't need to ask for permission, though it is nice that you did ;-) Since I can't read Chinese and don't know whether RERC is sympathetic or opposed to Christianity, I only ask you not to put the image in a direct context of unfair criticism, e.g. not to put a defaming caption under or on the image. Details for the credit you can find here. A direct link to the actual license for that image in Chinese is here: [3]. I am glad that my picture can be of use for you and your students. Cheers --Túrelio 06:30, 18 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Turelio, My name is Tony Yu. I'm beginning to create mainline Christian resources such as Gospel tracts, leaflets and booklets. I would like to use the Mother Teresa photo for a gospel tract I'm designing. I will give you credit for the photo. Many thanks, Tony. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 122.57.197.59 (talk • contribs) 00:09, 1. Dez. 2008 (UTC)

Hi Tony, thanks for your feedback. You can use the image for that purpose, of course. As it is licensed under CC-BY-SA, you simply need to credit my Username (Commons-User Túrelio) and the name of the license (not the license text). If the "gospel tract" is going to be published in print or online, I would like to get the URL and/or the bibliographic data (ISBN, etc.) as we try to track the use of media from Commons. You may post that information either here or on the talkpage of the respective image. Cheers --Túrelio (talk) 07:10, 1 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, we've used this picture to represent Mother Teresa on the Inspirational People website here http://www.inspirationalpeople.org/Mother_Teresa Thank you, Jules

Hi Jules, thanks for the notification. However, to comply with the license terms, you have to credit me (Túrelio) as the photographer and to mention the license (CC-BY-SA) on your page. Easiest way would be to add that to the already existing mouse-over caption. --Túrelio (talk) 07:02, 17 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Túrelio, Full details including the license and a statement requesting people notify you are displayed on the image page here:

http://www.inspirationalpeople.org/Mother_Teresa/facts_and_figures/info/14342-Mother_Teresa_of_Calcutta_%282681919_591997%29_at_a_pro_life_meeting_in_1986_in_Bonn_Germany Click the Additional info link to see the full details. Thank you, Jules

Thanks for the update, Jules. In case you work again on that page, you might remove the no-commercial-use icon (striken-through dollar sign) as this image is actually free for commercial use. But it's not that important. Regards. --Túrelio (talk) 07:31, 18 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Túrelio, I will get the NC icon updated, thanks. I have one other question: the recently launched Inspirational People website relies on member contributions for content - do you have any suggestion or recommendations on where and how to gather contributors? ie. what are the best ways for a new wiki to gather contributors? Thanks, Jules
Re your question: hmmm, that's the million $ question, very difficult to answer. I think, first you need a few real "activists" and you need to make it easy for people to contribute. Then you have to do some "marketing", make it known in the audience that you want to reach as readers and as writers. As the experience with wikipedia shows IMHO, you also need some kind of fun/competition/quarrel factor. Wikis or pedias which miss that, usually have a markedly lower rate/number of active participants, such as http://wikitravel.org/en/Main_Page, http://www.kathpedia.com/index.php?title=Hauptseite, http://www.wikivoyage.org/de/Hauptseite for example. That isn't inherently bad of course, it depends on what you want. --Túrelio (talk) 07:25, 21 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
What do you think is a good competition prize as an incentive? I appreciate your comments. Thanks, Jules
No idea, may be that? Seriously, I actually hadn't anything organized in mind, but I meant a sort a "feeling" that developed within the community. However, in regard to organized action, you may have a look at at writing competition (in German) in my "native" wikipedia. There you will find also links to similar actions in the english wikipedia. Hope that helps a little. --Túrelio (talk) 10:41, 22 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi "MonsterFactory",
thanks for notifying, though I have no idea what's a MonsterFactory (and can't read the website language). 'Photo by Túrelio' might read somewhat better than 'Sourced by Túrelio'. Picture of Mother Teresa Image:MotherTeresa_094.jpg[edit]

Hi Túrelio, It's Fiona from HK again. As I found another photo of Mother Teresa which was also taken by you in Wiki,I would like to use this one too in the same Chinese booklet "Enhancing Leadership Qualities of Gifted Students through Exploring the biographies of World Celebrated Leaders". Thank you for letting us use your photo. We will surely credit you according to the guidelines you set out. Fiona

Turelio, I am a design coordinator for Saint Mary's Press, a Catholic publisher located in Winona, MN. We would like to use your image MotherTeresa_094.jpg in one of our college texts.

The text is titled: "Who Would Jesus Kill?: War, Peace, and the Christian Tradition" by Mark Allman. This intro college text provides an overview of approaches to war and peace within the Christian tradition. An appendix further explores the issues of war and peace from Jewish and Muslim perspectives.

Thank you for posting and sharing your wonderful images. Kristi --Kgud 19:10, 28 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Kristi,
thanks for your request. As the image is under a free license, you can use it freely. As I wrote already to the guy from Hongkong, I only ask, not to put the image in a direct context of unfair criticism, e.g. not to put a defaming caption under or on the image - but that will probably be out of question in your case. Details for image crediting you will find here. In my case and for that image, the credit should be like that:
  • Image by Commons-User:Túrelio [http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/User:T%C3%BArelio], licensed unter CC-BY-SA 2.0-Germany[http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/2.0/de/deed.en].
As the CC licenses require you either to mention the license terms or a link to them[5], the latter is usually the easier way.
In case of an online publication, the two links need not to be shown in full, but can be "embedded", so that everybody who clicks on them, is directed to my user page on Commons or to the CC license text, respectively. Also, if "Commons-User:Túrelio" is too long for you, "Túrelio" would also be o.k.
In case of a text print, if two links are one too many, you may drop the link to my user page and instead just print "Wikimedia-Commons User:Túrelio".
If you consider to print the text as a regular (sold) book, I would prefer to use my real name for the image credit. I will disclose that on request. You may either leave your email adresse here or use the email function on my user page (tool box on the left side: E-mail this user).
And after successful publication, online or in print, it would be nice to feedback either the URL (if public) or the book data to the talk page of the used image, because we try to keep track of Commons images that have been used for any sort of publication.

Foto of Mother Teresa[edit]

Dear Túrelio,

Per your request, would like to inform you that I have included your picture of Mother Teresa of Calcuta in the web site of my company. This is the picture that appears in the English article of Wikipedia. My company name is Juego Tecnológico SC and it is a vary small business out of Guadalajara, México. Our focus is the development of entrepreneurial and innovation skills amongst teenagers. We have created a gallery in our website of people that best illustrates this kind of behaviour, we have included Mother Teresa in it. You are welcome to visit our site at http://www.juegotecnologico.com. The site is in Spanish, and I would be happy to provide a translation what we wrote about Mother Teresa, if you want it. Thank you for sharing her picture through Wikipedia. Best regards. Miguel Meiszner August 8, 2008.

Gracias para la notificacion. Do you have deep-link (direct link) to the subpage where the image is placed? --Túrelio ( ) 20:36, 8 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thank´s for you replay Túrelio. This is a Flash page entirely, therefore, there are no subaddresses. In order to get to the place where the picture is, please take the following steps after you load the page: a) select the "Ellos supieron jugar" box (second box in the first row from left to right), this will take you to a photo gallery; b) within the left hand side menu, select "M" (stands for Mujeres = women) "Sociedad" (stands for society). You will se the Mother Teresa´s picture; c) click on the picture to get more detail. One more thing, credits for the pictures are missing now, we only have a legend about Wikipedia being the source of all images; we will update the credit next week. I apologize for the short term omision. - Miguel Meiszner, Agust 10, 2008.

Thanks for your reply. After viewing the image on your impressive website, I doubt that the image currently shown there is really from me. I also couldn't find it in Category:Mother Teresa. From where did you take it? --Túrelio (talk) 10:12, 11 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Good day, Túrelio!

We will be having an exhibit on the development of the German language in our school and we chose the German spelling reform in 1996 as one of the major points. Hello I am an art teacher at a catholic school in Illinois. I am trying to take a catholic approach to my art classes. Students will be writing and decorating Mother Teresa's sayings and prayers in honor of her upcoming day Friday Sept. 5. in my prep discussion I will be showing my students your photo because I think it is such a beautiful portrait of her-simply as she was-you see the distinct blue of her habit and of course she is always smiling-joyful in her work. You have captured her so perfectly. I see on your website that I do not need permission to use your image you just want to know what it is used for. Thank you in advance for allowing this. The duration of the exhibition will be 3 1/2 month. We are a state museum in Germany, so our purposes are educational and serious. I would like to ask your kind permission to use your image. Hallo A. Seiffert,

Hi Turelio! I've a question for you. My non-profit association's promoting your public image with television advertising and it's looking for a new promotional message. My organization is an association of voluntary donors of blood of Italy. We would want use your picture about mother Teresa in our new advertising (the code is "MotherTeresa 090.jpg"). Francesca 02 october 2008 — Preceding unsigned comment added by Comunicazioneavis (talk • contribs) 14:27, 2. Okt. 2008 (UTC)

Hi Francesca,
you are free to use the image your promotional purpose. I only ask - as I do with everybody using this image - not to put/use this image in a context of unfair criticism of Mother Teresa or of the Catholic Church in general. As you may know, the use of images licensed under Creative Commons licenses requires to mention the license type. Therefore I suggest to use a credit note like this:
The URLs (blue links) are meant for online-presentations; in print or TV use, you don't need to use them. For the generic words you may italiano, of course. If any materials with my image will be available online, I would be glad to get the URL. As donating blood is a good thing (I did it for 30 years), I'm glad that my picture may be of use for that purpose. --Túrelio (talk) 12:38, 2 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you very much for your answer! Well .. we can use this picture with this signature. But ... in the page of the picture, I read "Personality rights warning Personality rights warning. This work contains material which may portray one or more identifiable persons alive or deceased recently. The use of images of living or recently deceased individuals is, in some jurisdictions, restricted by laws pertaining to personality rights, independent from their copyright status. Before using this content, please ensure that you have the right to use it under the laws which apply in the circumstances of your intended use. Is it a problem for my association? Francesca

No. As Mother Teresa is dead already for some time, the Personality-rights-template does actually no longer apply. I left it there only to discourage abuse of the image. --Túrelio (talk) 13:35, 7 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

They are going to be traveling to Barcelona and I'm making a little book for them that tells them some interesting information about Barcelona and Spain. Things they might not ordinarily hear about. Since this is a band group, I thought they might really like to see a picture of a Cobla and the instruments and learn about the Sardana.

I appreciate that you have posted the image under the creative commons share alike license that allows derivative works to be made. I will, of course, attribute the photograph (if you want to give your full name, please feel free). Sincerely, David Marcus, Dissent Magazine (www.dissentmagazine.org) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 96.224.4.136 (talk • contribs) 22:55, 15. Dez. 2008 (UTC)

Hi David, thanks for notifying. Yes, derivatives are o.k. I hope the caption doesn't suggest the CUA to be especially bad in regard to student debt, anyway, I can't help it. Credit should be something like: Derivative based on photo by Commons-user Túrelio, licensed under Creative Commons BY-SA-2.5.
When the issue with your article is published, I would very much like to get the bibliographic data (title, author name, issue, year, ISBN, etc.) and eventually the URL, as we try to keep track of the use of our media. Thanks. --Túrelio (talk) 22:05, 15 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Request for Permission: File:LucMontagnier1995_065.jpg #21[edit]

Dear Túrelio: I am a medical college professor in the National Cheng Kung University in Taiwan. I was asked by a non-profit organization to write an article in Chinese about the 2008 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine. The purpose of the article is to introduce the works of those 2008 laureates to students and general publics. I would like to use your picture of Luc Montagnier(File:LucMontagnier1995_065.jpg)for the article. I also wondered whether you have photos of the other laureates Francoise Barre-Sinoussi and Harald zur Hausen. Your kind permission and reply for the use of these photos are greatly appreciated. Hi Túrelio,

I'm not sure if my previous message got to you, I just started this Commons account. I would like to use your Mother Teresa photos _90 for an article in Direct Selling News magazine. The title of the article is "Lessons learned from Mother Theresa" I have the image set as a placeholder with caption: Foto: Commons-User Túrelio, License: Creative-Commons BY-SA 2.0 Please let me know if it's ok with you to use this photo and if I need to change the photo credit. Hi Karla,
sorry, at least I don't remember any earlier request. However, at end of 2008 I've moved all requests to User:Túrelio/requests & notifications. Your planned use of my image and the proposed credit caption is fine. As we try to keep track of our images on Commons, would you be so kind to post the bibliographic data (Journal title, article title, author name, issue #, date, page) and, if available, the internet address (URL) here, after your article has been published? Thanks.--Túrelio (talk) 19:21, 16 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
After some search I found your request here. I've copied it to User:Túrelio/requests & notifications. O.k.? --Túrelio (talk) 19:27, 16 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Using MotherTeresa 090.jpg Photo[edit]

Túrelio: Love your picture of Mother Teresa in Wikipedia Commons. Thank you for posting such beautiful photo and thank you for making it freely available for use. Mother Teresa is famous for saying, No, I won't join a march against war; but if you have a march for peace, invite me! I'll be there. So she deeply understood "What you Resist, Persists". I am using this quote and am planning to use her photo for the web-page for our Special Report on this subject. I confirm that the reference is in no way detrimental. This web-page is not created yet, but probably will some variation on: www.LifeStrategies.net/StressSolutions, or www.LifeStrategies.net/WhatYouResistPersists Warm regards, Cris, Friday, 2009/05/15 — Preceding unsigned comment added by CrisBCT (talk • contribs) 16:19, 15. Rights requested to use Mother Teresa's Photo (File:MotherTeresa 090.jpg)[edit]

Dear Mr Túrelio,

I saw on Wikipedia that very beautiful picture of Mother Teresa (MotherTeresa 090.jpg).

I am religious in the Chemin Neuf Community, a Catholic community having ecumenical vocation, and I realize movies as part of a prayer network called Net for God (www.netforgod.org) established by the Community since the 2000. The purpose of this network Net for God is to bring together people of all countries and different Christian denominations around the film, to share and pray for peace and unity between our countries and our churches. These films now translated into 22 languages go free to sixty countries.

Recently I went with Jean Vanier (founder of the l'Arch) to Israel-Palestine to achieve 14 films with him on the Gospel of Saint John. This is the result of years of reflection, study, prayer and community life at L'Arche. I am in full swing and I need to use this picture of Mother Teresa twice in two of these 14 films. These films will be operated commercially by L'Arche International in the world of television, video, internet and broadcasting for the entire duration of the exploitation of the work in the entire world.

Of course, in the generic at the end of the films we'll put the following reference as per your request: Photo by Commons-User Túrelio, licensed under Creative Commons BY-SA-2.0-in.

Net for God's email is found in the contact-us link at the bottom of the www.netforgod.org website. Would it be possible that you reply to me by mail?

Thanking you in advance for the help you may be offering, and standing at your disposal for any questions or adjustment, please believe me in my most respectful greetings.

Sister Valérie Bouchez

I would also like to inform you that this book is meant for educational purposes, to be used in the classroom by students of Grade 3, following the National Curriculum. We strongly believe that inclusion of this beautiful image will help the young learners to further understand the great soul - Mother Teresa. We would of course acknowledge you for the image. Also, I would like to mention that since these books are for educational purposes, the price of each book would be less than $1.00. Thanks so much for making the image available for us to be used. Hi Debarati,
thanks for your request. Independent of the price for the book, you can use this image. Hallo

Hallo Andreas,

HI,

We’d like to use this image of Dr. Gunther Van Hagens (see link below) for Panorama , one of our best TV show Are they copyright free or do we need to pay to use them? We need a valid authorisation for 1 year. Medium: television & web/ French Canada.

Thank you,

Nadine nmbemba@tfo.org Recherchiste visuel TFO: 416-968-8301 X 8291

Hi Nadine,
as I've released only one image of Gunther von Hagens (not Van), you likely refer to the one now linked in the section header. As you may see from the image description, I've released it under a Creative-Commons-BY-SA 2.0-DE license. That means, in regard to copyright you can use it for any purpose, provided that you credit me as the author (you'll find my prefered credit line in the description) and, if you use it online, you have to mention the license and either provide the license text or, more easy, link to it, [8] (the identical license text is also available in french and english). This is valid without any time-restriction. Well, 70 years after my death it will become public domain. In addition, it should be self-explanatory that this kind of license is non-exclusive. As the depicted is still living, you as the re-user have to observe your local regulations/laws governing personality rights. However, that shouldn't be a big problem, if you don't intend to unfairly smear him, as he is a public figure and as the photo was shot at the opening of his exhibition. If the show/broadcast where you intend to use the image will be available online, I would like to get to know the URL. Regards. --Túrelio (talk) 22:11, 4 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

thanks for notifying. If the publication is print-only, you might write: (C) Wikimedia-Commons User Túrelio, or, if you don't have enough space: (C) Túrelio (Wikimedia-Commons). If the publication is online (not only as pdf), then the license requires that you mention the license and its conditions. The easiest way to do that is to write something like: (C) Wikimedia-Commons User Túrelio; licensed under (may be left out) Creative Commons BY-SA 2.0-de and to put a hyperlink to http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/2.0/de/ (or the link for your language of choice) under the license name. In both cases it would be nice if you could post here the publication data, i.e. the book record or the URL for the online publication. Thanks. --Túrelio (talk) 19:37, 16 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the quick response. We shall abide by these guidelines. 67.214.61.73 20:25, 16 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Turelio, I appreciate your photos and your willingness to let them be used by others. As per your request, this is to let you know that I've made use of your photo File:MotherTeresa 090.jpg on my blog at MinchinWeb: Sunday Quotes #1: The Difference Love Makes. Let me know if there's any issues. Thanks again, --Mr Minchin Canada 01:37, 9 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

It's fine. (Well, only it's "Wikimedia Commons" instead of "Wikipedia Commons".) Thanks for notifying. --Túrelio (talk) 13:10, 9 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Túrelio New to this Wiki Commons thing - I would like to use SchafherdeInKoeln.jpg for a poster promoting a United Church Children and Youth ministry fair (theme 'the good shepherd') being held in Calgary, Canada. nitsana

Hi Nitsana, thanks for notifying. If the image is shown only in print, you should add a credit/attribution like Photo (or the hebrew word for it): Commons user Túrelio. If it is also used online, you'll also have to mention the license, and the credit should by like Photo: Commons user Túrelio; licensed (or in hebrew) Creative Commons-BY-SA 2.5 and the latter should have an underlying link to http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/2.5/deed.he. If something of it will be online, I would be glad to know the URL (web address).

Daniela — Preceding unsigned comment added by 62.245.151.6 (talk • contribs) , 28.

10:44, 28 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

--Túrelio (talk) 08:48, 30 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Spike and Suzy rural painting[edit]

It's a pity you took away the picture of the Spike and Suzy rural painting. I thought it looked very nice on the wikipedia page: Belgian Comics. EricVerdonck (talk) 23:41, 13 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Erik, I've no idea to what you are refering. Is that about an image I deleted? If yes, well as an admin I have to delete scores of files and do not remember that name. --Túrelio (talk) 06:15, 14 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Use of photo on Suite101[edit]

Thank you for sharing your photograph!

I have just used it to illustrate my article 'Famous Inspirational Quotes on Body Confidence and Beauty' on Suite101.com, an online magazine. I hope this is OK.

The photo credit is visible when readers hover over the image. The image can be enlarged by clicking on the thumbnail accompanying the article.

Please let me know if you would prefer the credit to be under a different name and whether you require your original photo caption to be used, as I have changed it to match the article’s content.

Mother Teresa art project[edit]

Dear Turelio, I used your photo of Mother Teresa as the base for an art project I did. I posterized it to have ten shades. Then I drew the image and used words written by Mother Teresa to shade it. I have made copies of my completed project and would like to distribute it to my family and friends. Would I be able to sell copies of my picture as well?

Here is a link to my project: http://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/6v9MLTAjllg1K367HVez4g?feat=directlink

Thank you! G. Koch 6/24/2010

Hi Greta, very nice work. As the original photo is licensed CC-BY-SA, you can use it also commercially - well, provided you don't use it for advertising drugs or violence, which might violate personality rights. However, as of the CC-BY-SA license, "you may distribute the resulting work only under the same or similar license to this one"[12]. Therefore, the licensing of your work on Picasa formally violates the license of the original, as you put it under (C) ARR. It wouldn't be a problem for distributing physical copies, but online copies have to be CC-BY-SA licensed which would make it difficult selling them. As of yet, I didn't face that situation. --Túrelio (talk) 21:49, 24 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Bild: Rheinblick vom Petersberg[edit]

— Preceding unsigned comment added by Rhiya (talk • contribs) 03:35, 1. Jul. 2010 (UTC)

Hallo Rhiya,

Mother Teresa request[edit]

Hello Turelio: I am with the Knights of Columbus, a catholic fraternal organization and our local council in Canada has a website. I have a section of the website titled: Pro-Life where I want to place a link to Mother Teresa's address to a breakfast meeting in the US Capitol (Senate and House of Representatives). I also wanted to attach this photo of Mother Teresa. Here is the link to Mother Teresa's speech: http://www.ewtn.com/New_library/breakfast.htm. I trust we have your permission to attach your JPG photo on our website. Thanks Richard — Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.79.239.26 (talk • contribs) 10. Juli 2010, 06:56 Uhr (UTC)

Hi Richard,
yes, I'm glad to confirm the permission (which you actually already had per the CC-BY-SA license), the more as you want to use it for an aim that was also Mother Teresas aim. As you may have read from the image description, both my Mother Teresa photos were actually taken at a pro-life event already in 1986. After placing the image on your website, could you post the website address here on my talkpage. Thanks. --Túrelio (talk) 08:35, 10 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Positron Discovery[edit]

Hi Túrelio, thank you for removing the deletion request in Commons! Will the deletion request still seen in Wikipedia disappear automatically?HPaul (talk) 09:32, 29 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Request for permission to use your picture[edit]

Dear Sir/Madam,

Re: Request for permission to use your picture

We would like to request for your permission to use a picture from your website: http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:MailaenderDom.jpg as teaching material in our secondary history book series entitled: Travelling Through History. This series of textbooks follows closely the history syllabus prepared by the Hong Kong Curriculum Development Council. This book will be published in June 2011.

The above noted picture is attached for your reference.

In addition to the print format, we would also like to feature this picture in an accompanying CD-Rom, which is a replication of the above noted in electronic format. Available free of charge only to those who have purchased the print format, the CD-Rom is a complementary resource that allows users of the printed book the convenience of viewing the contents on their personal computers. We would like to emphasis that the said CD-Rom forms part of, and is not separate from, the total archival files of the print edition.

It is our opinion that the above noted picture would be of benefit to teachers as a teaching resource, and to students in terms of enhancing their historical knowledge. Due acknowledgement of your kindness would be made in our skills book series.

We shall be pleased to come to a suitable arrangement with the owner. Should you have any requests or enquiries, please feel free to e-mail me at akilee@aristo.com.hk.

Thank you in advance for your consideration. We look forward to hearing from you in due course.

Yours sincerely

Aki Lee Assistant editor, History Department Aristo Educational Press Ltd.

Hi Res Photo Request[edit]

Hi Turelio, I'm from the media department of Oral Roberts University (Christian university in Tulsa, OK) . We are working on a TV special (fundraising campaign) called "An Enduring Legacy" that will feature historical/current people who have left a legacy through their life/work. We are wanting to use photos of some people as part of the set design (maybe 10 different photos), as well as include images as part of the animation. I'm wondering if we can use your photo of Mother Teresa (MotherTeresa_090) as part of the set. For a project like this, would we include the credits at the end of the film? Also, do you have a higher resolution photo?

Thank you!

Florence Cathedral Santa Fiore[edit]

Hello Túrelio, what's the sense of your notification about usage of my picture of Santa Fiore di Firenze on ebay? Can't find any reference there. Rsuessrb (talk) 22:01, 14 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The sense is that you, as everybody else, might be interested to know about re-uses of their works. No wonder it's no longer online after that long time, but also because the same Ebay account had used (in an unlicensed manner) an image of mine, about which I have notified him. So he likely also took your image off his offer page. However, I've a pdf-screenshot from the page with your image as of March 13. I could email it to you. --Túrelio (talk) 06:08, 15 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Jodie,
thanks for notifying. Yes, 'Photo by Túrelio' or better, if there is enough space for it, 'Photo by Túrelio (Wikimedia-Commons)' would be o.k. as credit for offline-use. In online-use, a link ([14]) to the license is required. To which of my 2 images of Mother Teresa are you refering? In case your game has an identifiable data set (such as the bibliographic data for a book), could you post it here? --Túrelio (talk) 07:20, 3 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Samantha, thanks for notifying. If your publication is published offline (print)-only, a credit "Photo: Túrelio (Wikimedia-Commons)" would be enough for me. If your publication will also be available online, the credit should be "Photo: Túrelio (Wikimedia-Commons); Creative Commons BY-SA 2.0-de", in which the license name should have an underlying link to http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/2.0/de/deed.en. The latter is actually required by the license itself. To shorten the credit, you may write "CC" instead of "Creative Commons". After publication, please post here the web address, if available, or the bibliographic data of your publication. --Túrelio (talk) 08:51, 22 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Use of Mother Teresa photo on Dublin Libraries website[edit]

Hello Túrelio: I was hoping to get your permission to use your beautiful photo of Mother Teresa on the South Dublin Libraries website (in test mode at present) in the context of her living in Loreto Abbey in Rathfarnham, Dublin as part of her training as a Loreto Sister. I'm using your photo of Mother Theresa for my school project[edit]

Hi Túrelio,

as you request, I'm informing you that I'm going to use this photo in my school project about some social-interest arguments. The image will be in the chapter about Mother Theresa. I'm going to print it, so I can't use links, but I think an attribution like "The copyright holder of this image, "User:Túrelio" at Wikipedia, releases it under the Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike 2.0 license (http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/2.0/de/)" is fine. I know the project you mainly work in is not Wikipedia, but Wikipedia is more known than Commons (more persons would try to find you there). Besides, I'm going to release the entire project under the same license. For clarifications of any kind, leave a message on my talk page at the Italian Wikisource. Hi Amanda, I have no idea what you mean by "photograph number 79". In general all my images uploaded to Commons can be freely re-used, if the license terms are met. As I release all my own images under the Creative-Commons-Attribution-ShareAlike license, a credit (Photo: (C) Túrelio (via Wikimedia-Commons), CC-BY-SA) should be added, preferably in close vicinity to the used image. But if you tell me to which image exactly you are refering to, I can tell you whether there are other terms to be met.

Thank you very much for your advise.I was seeing help topics again.I get a massive attack long time ago over the importance of images in Wiki Commons even though it could be that also it has been received by anonymous identity. It seems that although English is not a communication barrier, if it's not my native language, not comes to be the one used for writing, but understandable in my case seems to be the same or perhaps well seemed. Anyway I hope you understand that the incursion is alienating and massive, and finally remove the block but here will be to ask another, I'm not even angry with anyone for any posible impression. Please a new

Mother Teresa[edit]

Hello Túrelio –

I really appreciate being able to use your great photo of Mother Teresa in my forthcoming book, “HE♥RTGASM – Increasing the Intimacy & the Ecstasy with Your Beloved.”© Of course, I will give you credit as outlined in Wikimedia-Commons.

This book features communication skills and spiritual principles used to achieve greater intimacy and love in relationships -- and eventually to experience ecstatic love-making.

The image of Mother Teresa is used in the section on FORGIVENESS, and whom I quote as saying, “We know that if we really want to love we must learn to forgive.”

If you would like to see an abridged version of the book, I’m presenting a course online on www.dailyom.com called “Awaken Your Relationship Magic.” If you go to the top bar, choose “Courses,” then choose “Relationships,” and then look for the title and/or my name, Toni De Marco. You can enroll in the course for as little as $1. Or if you prefer, I can email you you the entire chapter in which your photo will appear.

Thanks again, Toni globaltoni@gmail.com — Preceding unsigned comment added by Globaltoni (talk • contribs) 7. Juli 2012, 07:26 Uhr (UTC)

Aachener Dom/Benutzungsanfrage[edit]

Dr. Wiley image[edit]

Hello,

I am the webmaster for the Environmental Molecular Sciences Laboratory (EMSL) website http://www.emsl.pnl.gov/emslweb/. We are in the process of updating our page on Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Environmental_Molecular_Sciences_Laboratory and would like to use a photo of Dr. Wiley that is on the website http://www.emsl.pnl.gov/about/wiley_emsl.jsp and also available on Flickr http://www.flickr.com/photos/emsl/4517693659/. Why can't we use it?

Thank you!

Hi Webmaster Fletcher04, for such kind of questions you should use my regular talkpage. Anyway: the problem is that on Flickr, this image is restricted to non-commercial use, an restriction which we don't accept per our policy. Now, the question is, why does a US federal institution, whose works are PD-USGov per law, use such a restriction? It might be that it's not their image, i.e. it wasn't shot by one of their personal. Therefore, I would recommend you to contact directly either the Flickr account or the ESML press/PR dep. and ask them about your wish. If they have the rights over this image, they should surely grant your wish, if they don't have, they can't. If that doesn't work, and as Dr. Wiley is dead already, you may use the image per fair-use, but only locally on :en wikipedia. --Túrelio (talk) 16:40, 4 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there, I really liked your image of The Molecule Men Of Berlin. I used it for a story which appears at Fictionaut now and earlier on my blog. Thank you and cheers from Berlin! --msb (talk) 03:58, 5 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Use of File:MotherTeresa 094.jpg[edit]

Turelio,

I would like to use your MotherTeresa 094.jpg as a visual to coincide with an excerpt from the APOSTOLIC LETTER “MOTU PROPRIO DATA” PORTA FIDEI OF THE SUPREME PONTIFF BENEDICT XVI FOR THE INDICTION OF THE YEAR OF FAITH. The copy to accompany the image is:

By Faith, men and women have consecrated their lives to Christ, leaving all things behind so as to live obedience, poverty and chastity with Gospel simplicity, concrete signs of waiting for the Lord who comes without delay. By faith, countless Christians have promoted action for justice so as to put into practice the word of the Lord, who came to proclaim deliverance from oppression and a year of favour for all (cf. Lk 4:18-19).

Your image, along with the above excerpt will be included in a Facebook cover image. The Facebook cover image will be offered at no cost to Catholic parishes for posting/publishing to their individual parish Facebook pages to promote the Year of Faith in their local faith communities and social networks.

The following has been added to the image in accordance to your wishes. © 1986 Túrelio (Wikimedia-Commons) / Lizenz: Creative Commons CC-BY-SA-2.0 de

Thank you in advance.

Use of Mother Teresa image[edit]

Hi Turelio,

I am an editor at Marshall Cavendish International (Singapore) Pte Ltd. We are co-publishing school books with the Ministry of Education, Singapore(MOE).

In efforts to make learning materials exciting and attractive to students, besides illustrations, photos and data are used to capture real life events.

In light of this, the photo of Mother Teresa taken by you (found here in wikimedia commons) has been identified to be used in these books. Basically it is found in the Malay Language Secondary School Textbook Jauhari (Higher Malay) 3A, in Unit 7 which talks about local and international leaders, be it political , cultural and others.

Full credit will be given in the form of acknowledgement in the preliminary pages (i.e. Acknowledgement page) with the name © 1986 Túrelio (Wikimedia-Commons) / Lizenz: Creative Commons CC-BY-SA-2.0 de. I can only put © 1986 Túrelio (Wikimedia-Commons) under the photo as the photo will be small and is surrounded by other text. I hope this is ok with you. Do get back to me before end of October 2012 for any queries ya. (asyurahismail@sg.marshallcavendish.com)

Thanks for your contribution!

Children's educational game[edit]

Greetings from Bangkok. We are hoping to use the image of Maria Teresa as a small (25mm x 15mm) picture on a card for children to learn about Kolkata and the work of Maria Teresa thanks. We are a small family company based in new Zealand, and our web site is at http://www.ody-see.com. This version of the game is about Asia, called Asian Ody-see.

Regards Kiwiodysee

Hi Kiwiodysee,
thanks for notifying. To which one of my 2 images (File:MotherTeresa 090.jpg, File:MotherTeresa 094.jpg) of Mother Teresa are you refering? By the way, it's not "Maria Teresa"; she was born as "Agnes Gonxha Bojaxhiu", but today is called either "Teresa of Calcutta" or "Mother Teresa". If the cards don't have enough space for the full author credit, please put at least "Túrelio" (or Turelio, if the accent is difficult for you) on the side of the image. --Túrelio (talk) 17:48, 31 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Foto Licence for Pit Hartling (File:Pit Hartling.jpg)[edit]

Dear Túrelio,

a photograph of me (on my Wikipedia-Site Pit Hartling) seems to have been marked for deletion on the grounds that the license holder has not approved its publication. That is not correct, however, as I am the license holder myself.

While the picture has been taken by my friend Jörg Puchmüller, I do own the rights for it. I would never publish any photograph that I am not legally allowed to. The text "Photo by Jörg Puchmüller" is just to express my thanks to my friend and publically credit him for his good work.

Please do not delete the picture.

Thank you very much for being so attentive and many greetings from Frankurt,

Pit Hartling

Hi Pit Hartling,
o.k.. However, you then need to change the author entry from Pit Hartling to Jörg Puchmüller, as you may be the rights holder, but you aren't the author/photographer. In addition, as per our policy in such cases (uploader is not author) you do need to send a written confirmation to permissions-commons@wikimedia.org (OTRS), stating again what you have written above and confirming the choosen license for File:Pit Hartling.jpg. Your email will not be made public. --Túrelio (talk)

Copyright request[edit]

Dear Turelio,

First of all, I just wanted to say thank you for your work in making pictures available on Wikimedia Commons.

I would like to use one of your photos in a publication I am working on at the moment, and since it will be produced by a charity organization my royalties are not large (and would quickly be swallowed up if I had to pay for images).

My publisher, however, has requested that I confirm with you that you are willing to give me permission to use the following:

http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:CyrustheGreatTomb_22054.jpg

Are you fine with this? If so, could you please email me at achalmers@adelaide.tabor.edu.au

Once again, thanks for your work and I look forward to hearing back from you.

All the best,

Dr Aaron Chalmers

Used your aerial shot of Greenland in my climate change adaptation blog, Carbon Based[edit]

Hi, Turelio,

I just used an image you shot from a plane over Greenland in my climate change adaptation blog, Carbon Based. The URL is here: http://carbon-based-ghg.blogspot.com/2014/01/new-nasa-laser-technology-reveals-how.html

Heartfelt thanks for making this dramatic shot available. It really gives the viewer a sense of the scope of this landscape.

Cordially yours, Brian Thomas

Picture Mother Teresa[edit]

Dear Túrelio, I would like to use one of your Mother-Teresa-photos (preferably No. 090) to illustrate a concert programme. One of the choral pieces performed is a "Prayer in Memory of Mother Teresa" by the Estonian composer Peteris Vasks. Unfortunately, the highest resolution available for download is not quite enough for a print version. Do you think, it would be possible to provide me with some photograph which has a bigger file size (around 1MB would be fine). - Many many thanks in advance! — Preceding unsigned comment added by J. Treumann (talk • contribs)

Hi J. Treumann,
I need your email address and the information about what resolution (pixel) you need at minimum. You can send your email via [16]. --Túrelio (talk) 19:32, 29 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I'm Muhammad Ahmad Ayoub. Can I ask you why are you delete the logo .It was legal as it is small logo with low resolution & it's published under the free license . I had uploaded it from flickr website.
kind regards,
Muhammad Ahmad Ayoub. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 41.46.226.140 (talk • contribs)

Hi Muhammad,
I did not delete the logo, but only tagged it for deletion. If I remember correctly, the logo image was the only upload of that Flickr-account, whereby it was likely without permission. We call that Flickr- oder license-laundering. The logo came originally from http://www.tubby.co.nz/ and is surely protected. If you want to use it on Wikipedia, you need to contact the rights holder and ask them for a release under a free license.

Use of Mother Theresa image for museum exhibition[edit]

Hello

I am designing an exhibition for the Bar Convent in York, and would like to use your image of Mother Theresa in the exhibition. It's about the Bar Convent and also about the Congregation of Jesus, of which Mother Theresa was a member. She will appear alongside other nuns in this exhibition about the extraordinary history of their movement, and their work, both past and present.

If you would allow us to use the image, I would require a higher resolution version, as we will want to reproduce it at about 500 mm across and 200 dpi (ish).

Many thanks for your help.

Kate — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.25.18.240 (talk • contribs)

Hi Kate,
If you need a higher resolution than the one I released under the CC license, you should contact me either by posting your email address here (not recommended due to spam risk) or by opening an account here on Wikimedia-Commons and then contacting me through Wiki-Mail. --Túrelio (talk) 19:42, 28 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Ted,
I assume you are refering to File:PaulusTarsus LKANRW.jpg. You do not need any individual permission. As this image is under a CC-BY-SA license, all you need to do is to credit the author, LKA NRW (which is the abbrevation for w:Landeskriminalamt NRW), and to mention (CC-BY-SA) or link to the license (http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/2.0/de/deed.en). Of course, this facial composite was not created by the whole State Criminal Police Office, but by an individual profiler. However, when I obtained their license, they asked that the office is credited, instead of an individual person. --Túrelio (talk) 21:14, 6 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Túrelio, I would like to use your excellent photo, Mother Teresa 090, in a YouTube video about misguided Christian doctrines. Use of your photo in the science popular paper[edit]

Hello, Túrelio, I am writing a popular science paper concerning the animals living in groups and need to add some figures with the most common cases of grouping behaviour. The sheep herd on the city street would be a perfect illustration of it. At least, it can give rise to the associations in the reader's head. So I am planning to use your image (Flock of sheep moving through a city early on a holiday morning; File:SchafherdeInKoeln.jpg) in the manscript. I'll refer to Wiki and you. The article (if it will be accepted) will be published in the open access on the RFBR official site (Russian Fund for Basic Research - http://www.rfbr.ru/rffi/ru/popular_science_articles). Mother Teresa is someone who noticed something wrong and acted to help people, and inspired others to do the same. We ask people to notice the ethical standing of their bank and act because negative acts by financial institutions can hurt people, animals and the climate/planet/. We are a not for profit UK registered charity. Our work is outlined at www.eccr.org.uk - and yes we hope to update that page.

I hope you agree to our request under Creative Commons attrib: as per your specific request © 1986 Túrelio (via Wikimedia-Commons), 1986 / Lizenz: Creative Commons CC-BY-SA-2.0 de [» please add this credit below or near the image] — Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.232.146.39 (talk • contribs)

Use notification for Blick aufs Mittelmeer von Juan-Les-Pins[edit]

Hi,

I'm using your photograph as a background for the music videos of an old concert of ours. I had to crop a bit to fit YouTube's 16/9, I hope I didn't unset the balance too much (I aimed for wide panes of space for text at both top and bottom).

Use of CC-photo in video[edit]

Dear Túrelio,

I'd like to use your image showing a solar generator on top of a Fachwerkhaus in my video about construction types of solar panels. I hope that's okay.

I will name the source of the image below the image and add the full link to the image in the YouTube description. As this video description is a bit confusing and doesn't seem the correct place for credits, I will soon create a new section "credits" on my website (www.polka-umwelt.de) where I'll list all sources for each video.

Thank you very much for making your images CC!

Best,

Pauline

Hallo Pauline,

Foto: Fallow deer - Albino[edit]

Hallo Túrelio,

I´m writing to you because I used your foto of an albino fallow deer (Bild: © Túrelio (via Wikimedia-Commons), 2006, CC BY-SA 2.5, https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?curid=1633556) in a presentation for my pupils - and I read that you wanted to be notified when someone uses this Foto. Just as information: I am a Biology teacher and I teach in a school in Oldenburg in Holstein in north Germany (Holstein). Thank you for your work and for sharing it with the general public. Dear Turelio, I am an English language professor at the Moscow State University of Foreign Relations. We would like to use the photo https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:MotherTeresa_090.jpg in the coursebook we are writing now, in the section about the leaders that have changed the world. Could we possibly do it? Looking forward to your reply. Best regards, Tatiana — Preceding unsigned comment was added by 5.181.211.254 (talk) 08:14, 29 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Tatiana,
sure. Just try to credit it properly. If space is limited, "© 1986 Túrelio" would be sufficient. Thanks for notifying. If your book is regularly published (externally), I would be glad to get its title. --Túrelio (talk) 09:19, 29 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Permission to use image[edit]

Dear Túrelio,

We are a Catholic charity based in the UK. We publish a magazine for Catholic children (ages 7-11) called Celebrate and I am writing to ask for permission to use this image of Mother Teresa in our Lent issue:

https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:MotherTeresa_090.jpg

many thanks, Tim — Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.68.55.243 (talk • contribs)

Hi Tim,
sure; actually you don't need an individual permission by me, as the CC-license under which I released this image, gives you already a rather broad permission. If your magazine is published also online, it would be nice if you could post the address of the Lent-issue here. Regards. --Túrelio (talk) 14:10, 17 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

It's not nice when a picture of you is used and you don't understand the content of the article. 178.202.106.251 09:50, 11 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
