This media may be deleted.
Thanks for uploading File:St Joseph's Catholic Church, Roehampton.jpg. This media is missing permission information. A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or ask the author or copyright holder to send an email with copy of a written permission to VRT (permissions-commons@wikimedia.org). You may still be required to go through this procedure even if you are the author yourself; please see Commons:But it's my own work! for more details. After you emailed permission, you may replace the {{No permission since}} tag with {{subst:PP}} on file description page. Alternatively, you may click on "Challenge speedy deletion" below the tag if you wish to provide an argument why evidence of permission is not necessary in this case.

Please see this page for more information on how to confirm permission, or if you would like to understand why we ask for permission when uploading work that is not your own, or work which has been previously published (regardless of whether it is your own).

Warning: unless the permission information is given, the file may be deleted after seven days. Thank you.

Deletions and removal of licensing information[edit]

Hi! I saw that you've been a bit frustrated about the deletion of a file that you uploaded. When a file has been previously published under non-free terms elsewhere, we typically require proof that the copyright holder actually approved the publication under a free licence here on Commons. The reason for this is not to discourage contributions, but to protect content creators and those who use content from this site. Unfortunately, there is an astonishing number of people who upload other people's works with false authorship claims and false licensing claims. Not all of it is caused by ignorance either. Some people go so far as to impersonate the legitimate copyright holder – and of course anyone can create an account here with the same name as any given account on Flickr. I'm sorry this caused you some frustration, but that's the reality we're facing.

The easiest way to avoid the issue is to use the same licence here and on Flickr. It doesn't make much sense to use a licence on Flickr that prohibits commercial use for a file that's also published here under a free licence, since anyone wanting to use it commercially can just get it from here instead.

As for the changes you made to your other uploads here, here, here, here and here, I've reverted them. Blanking out the licences and other things from file description pages won't cause the files to be deleted, and doesn't revoke the licence. In fact, the licence under which you've released these photos cannot be revoked. This is stated explicitly in section 7(b) of the license. LX (talk, contribs) 15:36, 2 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Eight days into Wiki Loves Monuments[edit]

Thank you for taking part in Wiki Loves Monuments UK
Thank you for submitting so many photos to the competition! You're one of five people who have uploaded more than 50 images to the UK competition. Photos from this year are already being used on Wikipedia - though it may take a while for the monuments map to catch up so don't be disheartened if some pins haven't turned blue yet. WLM runs until the end of the month, so please add more and invite other people to take part. The UK is closing in on 1,000 uploads putting us just behind the United States in 14th place out of 49 countries taking part. Let's see if we can jump a few places. If you have any questions, feel free to leave a message here or contact me directly at richard.nevell@wikimedia.org.uk.

An update from Wiki Loves Monuments UK[edit]

Thank you for taking part in Wiki Loves Monuments UK
More than 300 people have contributed a total of 4,000 photos to this year's competition and we wanted to say thank you for helping us get this far. The competition runs until the end of September, and you can upload as many images as you want - so feel free to document some more sites. Or why not go through your old images to see if you have any others that could be submitted?

Since you've already submitted some pictures to the competition, you might be interested in the banner mini-contest; to take part you crop your images to a 7:1 and upload a new version. You can find out more about how to do that here. In the meantime, we hope you enjoy the competition and share it with others! MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 12:24, 22 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

File:Sundial 1586.jpg was uploaded after the content ended at midnight (London time). --Jarekt (talk) 02:46, 2 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

It was not meant for WLM, if that's what you mean. If you mean the monthly challenge, then that's a shame but nevermind. The page said "7 hours remaining" when I uploaded it, so someone might want to double check the timezone-i18n code, because it's clearly communicating an incorrect deadline. September 2019: it's Wiki Loves Monuments time again![edit]

Hi

You're receiving this message because you've previously contributed to the annual Wiki Loves Monuments contest in the UK. We'd be delighted if you would do so again this year and help record our local built environment for future generations.

You can find more details at the Wiki Loves Monuments UK website. Or, if you have images taken in other countries, you can check the international options. This year's contest runs until 30 September 2019.

Many thanks for your help once more! MichaelMaggs (talk) 15:35, 3 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not being funny but I uploaded over 200 monuments in the last two years of WLM and >95% of them have never been used across any wiki project, or even looked at, as far as I can tell. Maybe it's time to put the volunteer effort into actually doing something with the photos you've been provided already instead of appealing for another few hundred you'll proceed to ignore?
