First steps tutorial

Our first steps tour and our frequently asked questions will help you a lot after registration. They explain how to customize the interface (for example the language), how to upload files and our basic licensing policy (Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content).

You don't need technical skills in order to contribute here. Be bold when contributing and assume good faith when interacting with others. This is a wiki.

Getting help

More information is available at the community portal. You may ask questions at the help desk, village pump or on IRC channel #wikimedia-commons (webchat). You can also contact an administrator on their talk page. If you have a specific copyright question, ask at the copyright village pump.

Goodies, tips, and tricks
  • Put Babel boxes on your user page so others know what languages you can speak and indicate your graphic abilities.
  • You can find the files you have uploaded in your Uploads.
  • Please sign your name on Talk pages by typing ~~~~.
  • To link to an image page without embedding the image, type: [[:File:Foo.jpg]], which produces: File:Foo.jpg.
  • You may enable gadgets (custom features) for your account.
  • There are several tools to upload files.
  • Have you edited Wikipedia before? This guide might be useful.
Made a mistake?
  • Do you want to have a file renamed or moved? Use the move link and wait for an authorized user to rename it.
  • Do you want to have your recently uploaded picture removed? Tag it as {{speedy|reason here}}. For more information read the deletion guidelines.

Mapas[edit]

Hola Raul, trataré de ser conciso. En principio, suponiendo que lo que hay en commons tiene una licencia correcta, puedes reusarlo. Eso sí, debes consignar la fuente a partir de la cual has creado tu mapa (o lo que sea). Por ejemplo, con la plantilla {{Derived from}}. Respecto a fuentes de mapas, pues parece que sí, que sí que tienen copyright (así que no, no vale Google Maps o Bing Maps or whatever), así que lo mejor que puedes hacer es usar mapas de openstreetmap.org, para lo que tendrías que usar la plantilla {{Openstreetmap}} para describir el mapa. Sobre sitios para pedir mapas, en commons sí que existe un sitio específico: Commons:Graphic Lab/Map workshop. En la wikipedia en español recuerdo que había un taller gráfico (que tiene una sección de mapas, pero no sé si sigue funcionando). En todo caso, te dejo un enlace para que te ilustres un poco: aquí. De las traducciones me puedo ocupar yo, aunque no ahora mismo (me voy de vacaciones en pocos días). Sin embargo, creo que lo más interesante es que yo figurase lo menos posible. Creo que con eso se llegaría al "De entrada no". Mi recomendación es que sondees el asunto en el café o similar. Dependiendo de las respuestas, nos ponemos o no. Las objeciones de que ya hemos hecho no sé qué cosa me parece que caen por su propio peso, dado que nada se ha hecho y, sobre todo, es lo más opuesto al espíritu wiki que se puede encontrar. Hola, me paso por aquí para agradecerte sinceramente tu participación en el debate de mi desbloqueo, incluso si ha sido finalmente infructuoso. Tras más de dos años completamente alejado de la interacción con la Wikipedia en Español, me causa gran tristeza el nuevo fracaso de mi petición. Como ya he comentado en mis peticiones de desbloqueo de las últimas semanas, mi única intención es pasar página y seguir contribuyendo al conocimiento libre. Reconozco la frustración de seguir en el mismo punto en el que estábamos en 2012, cuando ya se arguyeron políticas inexistentes para negar un desbloqueo que, aparentemente, cuenta con un respaldo mayoritario por parte de todos aquellos que han querido pronunciarse sobre el tema.

También te lo agradezco porque, posiblemente, no has apoyado mi desbloqueo por tu simpatía o cercanía hacia mí, sino porque crees que ese precisamente no es un argumento relevante y sí el avance del proyecto. Precisamente porque soy consciente de todo lo ocurrido y de todas las cosas que hice mal es que te doy las gracias por querer darme una oportunidad para demostrar con hechos que lo lamento y que deseo reparar los perjuicios causados. No voy a tirar la toalla y seguiré intentando poder volver a reintegrarme en el proyecto, con los mismos deberes que todos los demás, pero también con los mismos derechos. Hasta que esto ocurra, seguiré con mi labor en Wikiexilio, aquí en Commons y en Wikidata.Gracias finalmente por haber dado la cara en un debate en el que lo más cómodo era simplemente quedarse al margen. Joder, que esto es un hobby. No le des más importancia a esto que la que tiene. Fíjate que a mí ya no me importa lo que pase. Que pueda editar, bien. Que no, pues también bien. No nos pagan por esto y entiendo (¡como no!) tu frustración, pero no creo que debas irte (a menos que efectivamente os vayáis de vacaciones ). He estado revisando resultados anteriores y los resultados son muy parecidos. Ahora un 68% de apoyo. Hace dos años un 65%. Obviamente es difícil que las cosas cambien, pero lo harán. Aunque haya que esperar, como sugiere Penquista, al 2020. Haz lo que debas, por supuesto, pero irse dando un portazo solo alegra a los que querían que te fueras (y yo no estoy entre ellos, obviamente). No, si eso está claro. Anda que si wiki tuviera que vivir de mis tablas, ya habrían cerrado el chiringuito.
Por lo que leo, rebotada de ping en ping, te vas de wikivacaciones. Oiga, hace usted requetebien, todo currante tiene derecho a ello.
En serio, no te lo tomes tan a pecho. Injusticias, situaciones como estas, frustrantes y cabreantes, las ha habido desde que la wiki nació. Y, casi siempre, estas escaramuzas tumban a los que consideran este proyecto más allá de las mezquindades humanas. No es así. Está hecho por humanos, con todos sus defectos y virtudes y para que siga funcionando necesita ese equilibrio entre virtuosos y defectuosos, así que te esperamos a la vuelta de esas vacaciones, aportando a la balanza wikipédica como hasta ahora.
