Wiki Loves Monuments Philippines submissions

Hi Ramon FVelasquez,

Thank you for uploading entries for Wiki Loves Monuments Philippines 2013. We're encouraging you to upload photos that would qualify as "monuments". You may browse this Wikipedia article as a guide: List of Cultural Properties of the Philippines.

In addition to that, structures that are at least 50 years old are also considered heritage monuments based on the Philippine National Cultural Heritage Act (R.A. No. 10066). It will be great to see your contributions qualify as entries for the competition. Should you have any questions feel free to e-mail us directly at wlm@wikimedia.org.ph

Best regards,

Roel Balingit
Wiki Loves Monuments Philippines organizer

Thanks, also. Regards--Ramon FVelasquez (talk) 04:48, 12 September 2013 (UTC)

Hi Ramon FVelasquez,

We would like to know if all your uploads are intended as entries for Wiki Loves Monuments Philippines 2013? Because we find that there are a significant number of photos that do not meet the criteria as being Cultural Heritage Monuments. We do not intend to treat your uploads as spam that would prompt us to create bots to uncategorize all of them as entries. We would advise to upload only those that fit the criteria and remove the ph template from them before the end of the upload period on September 30, where bots will begin sweeping unqualified entries.

Best regards,

Roel Balingit
Wiki Loves Monuments Philippines organizer

Thanks for your messages. I am sorry and apologize for not having well read the qualification on entries. Hence, from now on, I no longer use the template and will no longer enter my photos, since I feel I already uploaded so many photos thereat for Philippines. Hoping for your kind consideration of my mistakes. Sincerely and regards.--Ramon FVelasquez (talk) 03:19, 20 September 2013 (UTC)
Hi Ramon, I noticed your photos. Maybe not all in scope for Wiki Loves Monuments, but it sure is in scope for Wikimedia Commons. I hope you'll continue contributing to Commons after Wiki Loves Monuments. Multichill (talk) 18:07, 20 September 2013 (UTC)
Thanks, Multichill, for your trust despite my negligence due to my stress in this slow internet here in Philippines. I will try my best to put your contest template only in those qualified photos, but help me in re-categorizing these, if I commit mistakes in including not qualified photos, for at age 59, I am not so technological to know much of these difficult to understand rules of the contest, again thanks for your confidence in me. From time to time, please correct me, and send message here, if I would make mistakes in including not qualified photos. Cheers.--Ramon FVelasquez (talk) 01:35, 22 September 2013 (UTC)

Hello, Ramon FVelasquez!
Tip: Add categories to your files
Tip: Add categories to your files

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.

Thanks EugeneZelenko for your message, this will help me and editors to make Commons a better place for researchers and the world of wisdom, cheers.--Ramon FVelasquez (talk) 00:42, 7 October 2013 (UTC)
File:SanAntonio,QuezonHalljf0142 07.JPG has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

Thanks for your message and concern; it was so cloudy and just rained, and I could not take a better view of the facade which I desire to put in the Wikipedia infobox of the article of the town, hence, my error or mistake, no objection to the deletion, Cheers.--Ramon FVelasquez (talk) 03:11, 24 October 2013 (UTC)

Category discussion warning

Category:Aksyon_ng_Bayan_Rosario_2001_And_Beyond has been listed at Commons:Categories for discussion so that the community can discuss ways in which it should be changed. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this category, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for discussion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it. If the category is up for deletion because it has been superseded, consider the notion that although the category may be deleted, your hard work (which we all greatly appreciate) lives on in the new category.

In all cases, please do not take the category discussion personally. It is never intended as such. Thank you!

Unclear descriptions

Kumusta Ramon, please don't add generic descriptions to your uploads. I know you are doing a mass upload and therefore the photos will all have the same description. But the result is that the description is becoming confusing! Especially when you are uploading images of 2 places at once! Some photos are therefore in categories of 2 different places. See for example File:Batangasjf2040 27.JPG, File:Batangasjf2040 22.JPG, File:Batangasjf2040 20.JPG, File:Lemery-Taaljf1853 14.JPG, among many others. Please check your uploads and fix this confusion. Maraming pong salamat. -- P 1 9 9   16:01, 15 November 2013 (UTC)

Thanks for your helping me and looking at my pictures. I am sorry for my inadvertence. Last times, I was carefully describing these and putting the categories each. I will start again what I did before to avoid bad description. (Note: actually, I use about 4 computers - 2 in one area and another, about 500 meters; then, I would ask the help of the server staff to guard my uploads, so I fear that one may close it, so, I began the quick description; many times I made enemies, for they sit on my chair, and often they would close my uploads I waited for 2 hours, just 40 images, for their games are slowing down). Maraming salamat din po sa mga tulong ninyo, for your assistance. Best regards.--Ramon FVelasquez (talk) 23:37, 15 November 2013 (UTC)
Ramon, I appreciate you uploading these pictures. But I agree with P199, according to (Commons:First steps/Quality and description), "Description should be about the content. What do you see, hear, or otherwise perceive on that particular picture?" Not one description common to the set of pictures. Also, please do not put one file into two categories if one of the category is a subcategory of the other. Another suggestion so you won't have to wait that long uploading your pictures, choose only the best pictures for uploading, do not upload everything you shoot into Commons, please only pick the best ones. Somebody has already brought this point before. Like on your most recent upload, you uploaded pictures of a rusty rooftop: File:MarianOrchard,Baletejf0166 44.JPG, File:MarianOrchard,Baletejf0166 40.JPG or something I am still wondering why would you upload this: File:Balete,Batangasjf9840 08.JPG. Another picture is File:MarianOrchard,Baletejf0166 41.JPG, which is a picture of Mount Macolod, but the Description is about Balete Municipal Hall and the Marian orchard. I know you spent some time taking and uploading these pictures, but a lot of them had been submitted for deletion as well. Please choose your pictures before you upload them, please don't pass the problems to others. I apologize if I sounded mean, but I'm just trying to help. Thanks.Briarfallen (talk) 05:34, 19 November 2013 (UTC)
Thanks for your message and concern. I apologize for my mistakes. I will try my best to review the pictures and description including the categorizing, please help if you have time, and best regards. Cheers.--Ramon FVelasquez (talk) 00:08, 20 November 2013 (UTC)
No problem. That's what I was doing. I was replacing some of the descriptions on some pictures and changing some categories, consuming a lot of time, which prompted me to write on your talk page. Just remember, please describe ONLY what you see, hear, or otherwise perceive on that particular picture. Never include what happened to you that day shooting the pictures, lighting situations, population, what else can you see in that town, external links, coordinates, etc. You should not write an article on the Description, we have Wikipedia for that. If you would like a link to a Wikipedia article use: name of article on Wikipedia, please do not use the internet address. Please do not transfer what is on Wikipedia. It is not about the length, if it's too long, no one will read your description. Thanks, just helping. Briarfallen (talk) 15:23, 20 November 2013 (UTC)
Thanks so much, for I am now clarified on this. Help me along, for there is no adoption here. It is very difficult for me to read the rules for at my age and our times, Internet and technology are very very far from our understanding, hence, I rely on what better or learned editors and administrators, can teach me to improve Commons and of course, so that my photos will easily reach all class of readers; I understood, that, I must establish the notability of the photos uploaded, even angle by angle, avoiding redundancy, by submitting verifiable links, like coordinates, Wikipedia articles on the matter or subject of the photos; I was a bit confused regarding the citing and copy pasting some words and phrases in my own words from Wikipedia or from some links; I was afraid that, as I thought, photos of far Philippine towns, could just be submitted for deletion, if editors are not informed of their notability by proper links; another point: in taking photos, I want the best, or picture perfect, like full sun, symmetry, no obstructions, and good lighting; but I found that some learned editors would instead like to insert in Wikipedia my photos that have dogs blocking the view, wires, garbages, including tricycles and irrelevant people blocking the church of town hall; now, I learned that some are tired of perfect picture, and instead love photos that are darker, gloomy due to bad weather, and populated by blocking persons who are there to make the photo breath; another point, is, I have tried my best to upload the best and to describe and to categorize properly; but I beg your and others' indulgences to be patient with my predicament - there are times, many times, that, there will be brown-outs, and very slow internet connection, hanging, and I use 4 computers, spending about 14 hours to upload a memory card of 590 photos of about 2 towns; often, I have to hurry, since fear is in my mind that the internet shop would close and I have to travel about 300 meters by tricycle to the nearest next computer I used from the computer I am using; for example, the shop would close about 10 minutes, and I have to race against time. I am searching and did search and even hope that I could have my own computer with fast server connection, but I failed due to Philippine congested traffic in the Internet; there are DOTA games and others that slow down when I upload, so I tried to find one shop that will not slow down; I talked to a PLDT office manager in a town, but I failed to get a faster internet connection; I am not submitting these as excuse, for I admit my errors and I am slow in learning the finer points of description; if only, our times had internet in 1960's I could do faster; but using shared computers plus the fact that my concentration is in philosophy and Law, I am very slow in learning these rules. I comprehend that my mistakes would have editors more time or double time to correct and edit my works; I believe however, that, Commons like Wikipedia is a collaboration of those who love images and scenery, memories and capturing these towns and landmarks; I thank thee and all those who kept on teaching me for spending yours and their time to make Commons a better place for the future readers and watchers: a final point, perhaps: yesterday, in San Juan, Batangas, a person in the town hall appreciated my taking photos, for they would like to send these photos via internet links to Filipinos abroad and their relatives or friends; he even helped me take photo of their Town Flag. Best regards and apology for my shortcoming. Cheers.--Ramon FVelasquez (talk) 16:25, 20 November 2013 (UTC)

Respectfully, submitted, no objection to the deletion. Best regards.--Ramon FVelasquez (talk) 23:48, 23 November 2013 (UTC)

Over-categorization

Could you please correct your mistakes on 'Category:National Shrine of Our Lady of Fatima'. There are files you put on both main category and (sub)Category:Grand Marian Exhibit, National Shrine of Our Lady of Fatima, which resulted in OVER-CATEGORIZATION (COM:OVERCAT). Please remove the Category:National Shrine of Our Lady of Fatima on the pictures that belong only to Grand Marian Exhibit. Thanks. We all need to learn how to correct our own mistakes. Briarfallen (talk) 16:42, 21 December 2013 (UTC)

Please also correct your most recent uploads, another over-categorization by putting both files in Category:Guiguinto, Bulacan and Category:Saint Ildephonsus of Toledo Parish Church of Guiguinto yet St. Ildephonsus is under Guiguinto. Thanks Briarfallen (talk) 16:50, 21 December 2013 (UTC)
Upon checking your recent uploads, it seems you were doing this till your most recent uploads. Please stop over-categorizing and follow Commons rule per COM:OVERCAT. During your free time, please correct some of these errors. Thanks. Briarfallen (talk) 18:00, 21 December 2013 (UTC)
No need to waste human time on this one. As soon as my bot is coded I will clean up all OVERCAT. --McZusatz (talk) 18:23, 21 December 2013 (UTC)
Ramon you are still over-categorizing on your most recent uploads (Bolinao). I suppose you are not concerned about others who are cleaning the mess you are making and do not care about it? You still have unrotated pictures on the 'Metropolitan Cathedral of San Sebastian' (Lipa Cathedral) category. I guess you do not even check your uploads. Thanks for uploading these pictures of Philippine churches for whatever personal reason, but then you are not concerned about other editors. Thanks. Briarfallen (talk) 06:29, 23 December 2013 (UTC)
Thanks for your help and cleaning, editing my works, and First of all Merry Christmas to you!. I ask apology for my mistakes, I am trying my best, though, a slow learner to make better my edits. I am handicapped by our slow computer, and the present problem, I use 3 computers, from 3 different places, and some of my enemies who play dota 2 or the like would put off my works, hence the stress and anxiety in uploading. I have tried to put just one category except that in the first uploads of a kind, I put 2 so that researchers who are Class D and E would easily see the existence of the images. In rotation, I have learned about word picture manager, lately, hence, some have not been rotated but few. Some editors here did help me in rotating. I am sorry if you and some editors had more time in editing my works. Sincerely and Regards.--Ramon FVelasquez (talk) 23:59, 23 December 2013 (UTC)

Hence, until today, there appears no edit and rotation tools, hence I uploaded a new version smaller one and I found the correct description and rotation tools, sorry for the problem, best regards and Merry Christmas.--Ramon FVelasquez (talk) 00:58, 26 December 2013 (UTC)

Thanks for your message and concern; first of all, Happy New Year and Holidays; second, actually, the monument is owned by the Candaba municipality, and I was assisted and given permission by the Tourism office thereat which is in front of the subject. At any rate, no objection to the deletion, respectfully submitted, regards.--Ramon FVelasquez (talk) 23:23, 28 December 2013 (UTC)
Thanks! Would you be able to get a written note from the Candaba Tourism office through the Commons:OTRS system? With that evidence of permission, it could be kept. Best for 2014! - MPF (talk) 01:09, 30 December 2013 (UTC)
Thanks also. I am planning instead to get a written Note from the superior and proper Offices here, under our Copyright laws, the NHI or National Historical Institute, NCCA or the National Commission on Culture and Arts and DOT or Department of Tourism which are all in Intramuros Manila; I also planned to take photos of these 3 Offices, their buildings, as I photographed Intramuros landmarks, but for lack of material time, that is, after 5 pm they are closed, I postponed - these 3 Offices all have jurisdiction over this matter of photo copying facade, landmarks owned by the Municipal Government, but under the supervision and control of these 3 superior departments; for example, the subject photo, is owned by the Municipio de Candaba under the Mayor, but their Tourism Office has power over this; nonetheless, the NCCA, the NHI and the DOT above-mentioned have over-all supervision and control over this Municipal Tourism Office; at any rate, I have no objection, at this time to the deletion, since, I cannot at this time get the written authority; let me explain that, I also thought of getting permission; but since I am photographing more than 14 provinces including their 350 towns, their churches and Halls, landmarks, with 7 hours travel to and 7 hours back each with nightmare of 14 hours uploading time for 600 photos of 7 Mbps each, now 103,000 photos already, the better option is to get the proper NCCA, NHI and DOT written authority for shortcut; please give me time, and if I reach and photograph these 3 superior offices by 2014, I may be able to get the authority. Best of Luck in 2014, Cheers.--Ramon FVelasquez (talk) 01:59, 30 December 2013 (UTC)

Category names

Hi Ramon. I would like to make a suggestion, could you please be more specific about the locations of the categories you are creating so that readers can easily identify where are they located or identify its locations like towns and provinces. Like on church CATEGORIES, could you please include the towns and provinces of their location, so that they are easily identifiable for the sake of Wikipedia or Wikimedia readers. Sometimes they are not included or partially included as there many places with similar names. (e.g., Category:Santa Monica Parish Church - there are many Santa Monica Parish Churches in the world, Category:Saint Nicholas of Tolentino of Balaoan - not everyone knows where Balaoan is). This is Wikipedia/Wikimedia, please do not assume that only Filipinos would read Filipino topics. Also, please use the English language for category names per COM:Category names. No Spanish names like Nuestra Señora... or Santuario de... 'Saint Anthony of Padua' instead of 'San Antonio de Padua'... (place names should remain as is)

Even other categories not just churches, for example the Category:Historical Park for a park in Batangas, which could mean any historical park anywhere in the world! Although that is the name of the park, adding a more specific location could avoid confusion among readers and editors. Don't you think so? Thanks. Briarfallen (talk) 20:53, 29 December 2013 (UTC)

Hi Briarfallen, Happy New Year and Happy Holidays. First of all, let me thanks you for helping me so much and cleaning my works despite my slow learning and many mistakes vis-a-vis the many problems I did encounter in our Internet, PC and more importantly in the actual photography and uploading here in Philippines. As of now there is no fiber optics available here in my place and most of the 3 internet PCs I use are afar from each other and are so slow, the memories are bad. But I am trying my best with the patience of all editors upon my stress-laden situation. Please feel free to correct me, my errors and I will improve. Second, I am really thinking on how to name the Church, Park, etc. caterories. At first, I looked for samples from others and I thought it is not good to make long names of categories so I keep it short. But the problem is that there are many the same saints names of churches and even parks. So, lately I add the first name of towns excluding the comma and provinces. Therefore, with your suggestion, I will add the province even if they are long, and in Parks, the same in addition to the name of the hero or official so that the reader or researcher will easily know the photo by just typing Google or Wikipedia. Lately, I use the English names and disregard the Original name of the Church put in the Church and the website, for this is English Wikimedia. Best regards this 2014 New Year.--Ramon FVelasquez (talk) 23:42, 29 December 2013 (UTC)

Philippine aircrafts

Hello. Good day Ramon, I would like to ask if your interested in taking pictures of our Philippine Air Force and Philippine Navy aircraft. It would greatly enhanced the Philippine Navy and Philippine Air Force wiki page. Thanks. God bless. Xtian06 (talk) 16:01, 6 January 2014 (UTC)

Thanks for your message. Sorry for the late reply, I was away and waited for a good sun and weather. I captured some of the possible objects that were granted permission or for the public, I know it is difficult to take other pictures of highly sensitive planes. Please review my uploads on categories and putting these in Wikipedia this is not my expertise. Cheers.--Ramon FVelasquez (talk) 00:46, 10 January 2014 (UTC)

Churches in the Philippines

Hi Ramon. Could you please check the category Category:Churches in the Philippines? I have been trying to organize the category and have cleaned up the churches by categorizing them according to religion, diocese, patron saint and location in the Philippines. So please, could you please keep the category organized by not simply dumping any churches in the "Churches in the Philippines" category. But organize them according to: RELIGION if Catholic, adding which Archdiocese or Diocese and the patron saint. If it's not Catholic, or not one of the religions on the list. BY LOCATION, which Provinces or if it's in Metro Manila, please choose which 17 cities in Metro Manila is it located. Please do not put just put 'Churches in Metro Manila'. I have already created and completed the 17 city categories of Metro Manila.(You can see the options by clicking the arrow (or triangle) on the left side of the category. An arrow means that there are subcategories on that category.

And we have already talked about my next point. Could you please put the location of the churches in the title of the category. For example, "Pentecostal Missionary Church of Christ in Marikina, Metro Manila" instead of just "Pentecostal Missionary Church of Christ (4th Watch)". As it would be easier to identify LOCATION of the church. Just because the name of the church is unique or available, that is not enough; you must specify the LOCATION of the church. Please think about the readers and editors of Wikipedia/Wikimedia, as the church could mean any where in the world. (And why did you have to add the '(4th Watch)'. Could you please explain? What would any readers think when they read the '4th watch' Is it really important to add that for identification?) RENAMING a category is time consuming, it is not similar to just changing the name of a file. So please, put the LOCATION of the church in the title for the sake of the readers and keep 'Churches in the Philippines' organized. Thanks Briarfallen (talk) 11:20, 13 January 2014 (UTC)

Hi Briarfallen, first of all, thanks for your great help and patience in contributing to this ultimate photography of Commons by cleaning, editing and making my photos easier for the world of viewers researchers and those who love the Philippines and are amazed at its beauty. Thanks very much for the times you spent with great patience in organizing my works. Second, I will from now on, start making specific even less, the categories on Churches, I just happened to learn how to by copying the works or past edits of some Filipino editors and creators of these, but they were not so keen on this; the problem I encountered, is - that, many churches are in Tagalog, Spanish like Nuestra, de San Jose, etc. so, I found it difficult if I will use English or stick to the original, for the researchers, if they type the English, they would not be able to find the original in search engines; nonetheless, I am now starting to use English names of Churches instead of Spanish or Tagalog, like Tolentine instead of Tolentino; also, I decided to use the Original name in the Wikipedia article, instead of adding the specific locations or specifics as you stated, since if I put the template of commons in the Wikipedia article, they would not fit and find them empty, except if you put the straight bar and the name, like EDSA (road) to bar EDSA; like this Marikina Church which is so hard to photograph for it is closed by its own School, and only the head appears - I used the original name in the Wikipedia article but I put in the Category the Wikipedia link and entire name; I know that readers might not read and open the Category title, hence, as you said, I should add Marikina to tell readers it is in Marikina; hence, this seemingly hard conflict between the Wikipedia article Original title and Commons must identify the location with specifics in the name; yes, I put the straight bar so that in Wikipedia, my photos would be seen if opened; thanks for the note, and I will try to put this names to specify as you suggested; please, from time to time, message me, so that you will not have a hard time cleaning my works, and in accordance with what you desire, for the best of the future readers; I am just an amateur photographer, and under your teachings and contributions my photos will reveal the best even to the most uneducated viewers of technology; Best regards and best of luck, thanks again.--Ramon FVelasquez (talk) 00:25, 14 January 2014 (UTC)

Welcome and thanks also for being interested in our Heritage, rich historical treasures and of course in the beautiful Philippines. Please check the categories, for I have had a difficult time in putting the right categories in each plane, for I am not into this field of technology, I was afraid I could commit mistakes in the categories. Best of luck and regards.--Ramon FVelasquez (talk) 00:25, 14 January 2014 (UTC)

Welcome. I thank all of thee, you great editors, who for one reason or another, believe in our contributing to this great Commons, to share our little things to the future little people, who unlike grown-ups, as the Little Prince did say many years ago, are concerned about the most important things in this planet, what the eye does not see but what the heart does, the invisible ones, inside the images, the photos that we treasure. And Commons will never ever be the same again with my more than 105,000 files and of course your dedication, inter alia. Sincerely--Ramon FVelasquez (talk) 00:33, 21 January 2014 (UTC)

Joseph May Swing

Hi Ramon. Why did you name this category Category:Joseph May Swing while the category is about the landing site of the Allied Forces in Nasugbu during WWII? The files inside do not match the category. If you're going to name the category about the person, then it should be about the person. If it's about a location, then the event on that location should be the title. You must rename that category or move it and delete the old one. Please read this: Commons:Rename a category. We all must learn how to correct our own mistakes. Thanks. -- Briarfallen (talk) 09:16, 31 January 2014 (UTC)

Thanks for your message. If I am right, I read the renaming and inserted the template accordingly and it says the images will be moved by a bot in days to the new Category I renamed to Nasugbu landing and I put some images there[2] pardon for my lack of learning on this, and I stand corrected, respectfully submitted. Regards.--Ramon FVelasquez (talk) 10:32, 31 January 2014 (UTC)

Do you really have to create these new categories?????

I have just noticed that you recently created FOUR new categories (Category:Chinese Filipino, Category:China–Philippines relations, Category:Manila Chinatown, Chinese New Year 2014 and Category:Filipino-Chinese Bridge of Friendship). Aren't the first two categories the same? Instead of creating a Manila Chinatown category, you created Category:Manila Chinatown, Chinese New Year 2014. Why not create a general category about Manila Chinatown since we don't have one yet??? The biggest problem is some of your pictures are on all two, three even four of those categories you have just created!! Please show some restraint!!! Why do have this need to put your pictures on several categories that you have to CREATE FOUR NEW, RELATED categories?? You are now ABUSING your right to make a new category. Not only there but also in previous categories. I have seen your pictures on categories where it is not related like non-wedding pictures at the Category:Wedding ceremonies in the Philippines, or non-bridges pics at the Category:Bridges in the Philippines (I have already removed some of them from this category), among some of them. I think you are misguided. Do you think the more of your pictures are categorized the better? You are creating category clutter (Wikipedia:Overcategorization).

The problem is you do not follow the Wikimedia Commons criteria regarding OVER-CATEGORIZATION (Commons:Overcat). Why don't you create a personal system before you upload your pictures so that they are in the correct categories??? That means sorting out your pictures, putting them in separate folders, remove the bad ones and similar pictures, before uploading them folder by folder. Other editors have already complained to you about this, but still you do not care or doing anything to solve it. Please stop making your usual excuses, like age, slow connection, instead, DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT!, FIX it. Stop using AGE as an excuse. Our age is not that way off. You seem to be waiting for other editors to do the dirty job for you.

I think you are now ABUSING Wikimedia Commons just so you can put your pictures online. This is not Flickr. Please choose only the best pictures to upload, sometimes there are five, six or seven pictures of similar subject (for example in Category:Pasig City), pick only the best of them. Sometimes there are blurry ones. You have been complaining that you have a slow connection... Why not choose only the best pictures to upload, so it it will not take that long to upload them??? What do you have this need to upload all the pictures that you took in one day. You are a MISGUIDED individual. Because somebody gave you that Barn Star, you think this is a numbers game not quality; and wait for other editors to do deleting, proper categorizing, proper description. You are using Commons like it's your own PERSONAL ONLINE HARD DRIVE, and in my opinion you are now abusing it. -- Briarfallen (talk) 20:00, 7 February 2014 (UTC)

Thanks for your concern. I have tried my best and with all due respect, I have focused myself on taking the best angle of pictures. Before I uploaded them, I tried my best to select, and I admit that I commit mistakes, specifically as you stated, in category, in pre-selection and in blurry pictures. For these reasons, I have asked editors to message me my mistakes, for it is my philosophy the Commons like Wikipedia is a collaboration of editors who wish to devote their time for future generations's wisdom and knowledge. I believe that reviewers and patrollers, may make this photography better by editing, by review. I discern that you and others may have difficult times in correcting my mistakes. My judgment on these matters may not be the best for many times I failed. Hence, apology and I hereby ask other editors to help make my photos in accordance with Commons' philosophy and wisdom. Regards.--Ramon FVelasquez (talk) 00:10, 8 February 2014 (UTC)
 • Kumusta Ramon. I have to agree with Briarfallen. There is no trophy for most uploads, so be more selective. Only upload the best ones and improve the quality of the descriptions and categories. Thanks. -- P 1 9 9   20:53, 7 February 2014 (UTC)

Thanks, for your message, User:P199 and good morning. Regarding the over-categorization and creating new ones, often, I created new ones, based on the existing articles of Wikipedia, so that when you open the article like Category:Chinese Filipino, Category:China–Philippines relations, they really fit into the photos. To be specific, the photos in Chinatown, are very related to these 2 articles in Wikipedia. I thought of creating just Chinatown, but I desired to make specific so that there will be a view of Manila Chinatown, and this great 2014 Chinese New Year. I understand with all due respect my mistakes, and I can only ask your help, respectfully submitted.--Ramon FVelasquez (talk) 00:10, 8 February 2014 (UTC)

 • More on categories: the new sub-categories you created for Category:Intramuros are a mess! For instance Category:United Arab Airlines Flight 869 (1963), from this title we can assume that it should be about the actual flight that crashed. By placing it in Category:Intramuros it gives the impression that the flight crashed at Intramuros. And then there are the usual double-level and circular categories. But the images are of a memorial to 3 boy scout leaders who died in the crash (so it is not even a memorial to the crash itself). And other categories have similar problems, while Category:History of the Philippines (1521-1898)‎ is so bad, I rather see it deleted than fixed. Briarfallen and I are willing to help you, but you are not willing to help us by following Commons standards that we have mentioned often. So if you want help, contact me or Briarfallen for a while before you make new categories, let us know what you are going to upload and we'll help you set up a proper category. -- P 1 9 9   18:27, 10 February 2014 (UTC)
Category discussion warning

Category:History_of_the_Philippines_(1521-1898) has been listed at Commons:Categories for discussion so that the community can discuss ways in which it should be changed.

Thank you!

Alternative Request for Adoption, in Wikipedia where it is allowed

Thanks, for your message, User:P199 and good morning it is scorching heat and bright Lights hereat Philippines, the beautiful. I deeply understand how you tried to clean up and review my edits and uploads. My faith is that class D and E readers from 2nd year high school 14 years studends and 90% of public officers who have 100% Facebooks in 201 towns of the 14 provinces I did photo, and most asked them how they could get my pictures, would copy and print them. This is the sense that the maker of Commons desire, reach the ignorant internet users. I know that unlike me and them, you had been in this hightech internet. Ergo, I desire that instead of making things harder for you and other editors on the categories and judgment of pictures to upload, why not adopt me in Wikipedia. Let me give you an example: when I take pictures of Manila Chinatown, no amount of thousands of photos can be put in Commons to tell these Chinese and Filipinos what are these photos. It is so beautiful the colors, the noises. So, I put Filipino-Chinese, Chinatowns in Asia and 2014 Manila Chinatown Chinese New Year as categories, many stoned many birds, that is, when they type any of these words, the search engines will reach them. In Paete, Laguna, the Boy Scout who died in crash are companions of Intramuros Letran scouts. How do these poor ignorant Paete and Intramuros public people classes d and e, have access to these rare photos that not even the wisest photographers ever did photo. Even the townpeople would not notice this fallen Paete scout statue in a corner of a library inside a dilapidated old Town hall? I want them to see these fallen ones. Please consider this: in taking photos of the 201 towns in 14 provinces, many would not have acces to Commons, since they do not know how. In these, my experiences, I desire them to reach Commons photos for sure in the crudest way possible the many categories. Regarding blurry pictures, and redundant ones - I will not blame the sun and clouds, I wil not blame the wires, garbages and blockings of my panorama. But if you look at the 120,000 photos I contributed, I tried my best to have the sun in there, waiting fighting the clouds and bad weather with my only weapon the Nikon sensor. So, please look at the bad pictures like this bad one [3] and thousands of others uploaded by lovers of photos but not so keen as many experienced editors here. My point is, I am a photographers, please help Commons not me, in making these photos beautiful. I want to follow the rules, but the rules says there are uploaders, there are reviewers, there are correctors of spelling, there are reverters, bots, and the like. In fact, many files are edited many times by many editors. The truth if the truth even if no one believes in it as Bishop Fulton Sheen said. It takes 9 hours to go to Lamut, Ifugao and Quezon, Nueva Vizcaya, there to find the very bad weather and blockings of views, then 9 hours to be back. My question is, will it a great sacrifice on cleaners, reviewers here, to sit and do 2 hours of cleaing, putting in the right categories my photos. For example, when for 3 weeks in Pangasinan, I am totally ignorant of Categories. You and only you, put my photos in Categories, and I thank you for letting Pangasinan see my work. Lazy as I am, I only took 2 photos of the town hall of San Antonio, Nueva Ecija, not it is totally burned. I and only I have these 2 photos but if you did not put them in Categories, will my photos be seen, no. I have tried my best to put my photos in accordance with the rules, but often the views are tempting. For example, I take photos of facades. Now there is no sun, then the sun comes, will I not upload the photo without the sun? Of the 120,000 I uploaded, how many were blurry, of the 1400 categories I made, the stub articles of wikipedia, how many are over-cat or wrong ones. This is the philosophy of Commons, it is a collaboration of editors, not one photographer, reviewers, and cheker, you and I play different roles. But I cannot grant all what you desire, due to my limited knowledge of these, and I cannot learn this due to my class d or e learning of internet. A last point, may I ask you, from your heart and spirit these a) have any Filipino, Japanese or American etc ever took angle by angle photography daily of 201 towns in just 2 years? b) Is $ 21,000 cost of photography not enough to say that I can buy other flicker, photobucket or other sites to put my photos, as my personal hard drive? c) Why do I solely upload to Commons, not to Wikipedia, not to any site, from the 11th to 120,000 photos. and finally d) is it not possible for you as alternative to be my adopter in Wikipedia as indirect solution to all these, Respectfully and sincerely--Ramon FVelasquez (talk) 03:48, 11 February 2014 (UTC)

 • Kumusta Ramon. I really appreciate the efforts you make to take pictures. I also go out of my way to take pictures of small towns so they can be added to WP articles. So I know this involves a lot of work. And for that reason I have awarded you a barnstar in the past. But if you want your pictures to educate others (as you say above), you also need to improve the quality of your uploads. For example, the description of File:AgnoBani,Pangasinanjf9537 36.JPG says "Poblacion East in Agno, Pangasinan[1] - the scenery along the Agno-Bani Road, the Pan-Philippine or Maharlika National Highway from Agno Town Proper viewing its River and Bridge beneath the seats of Victory Liner bus stop, - towards the Poblacion East, Agno, Pangasinan, the Centro, Town Proper and downtown where one sees the being contructed Junction, Intersection jeep, tricyle and bus stop - Town Plaza, Park beside the Agno Bridge and Balincaging River, now named - Don Marcelo Nagal, Sr. formerly named Don Angel Sison Bridge - to Bangan-Oda the 1st Barangay of Agno, Pangasinan, finally passing Bani, Pangasinan Town Hall Proper Intersection". How are readers supposed to know from that what it really shows? Furthermore, if I search for pictures of Agno, this picture will also show up in the search result, but it is in Bani. That is really annoying. So the description should be specific and brief, like: "Town plaza of Bani". If you want help from me or others like User:Briarfallen, I want you to ask for help before you create new categories and do uploads, so that is done right immediately. -- P 1 9 9   14:48, 11 February 2014 (UTC)
I also appreciate the pictures that you've uploaded, but it is a little sickening when you see several of them repeated. Also, checking the pictures on one category, and checking the next category only to find that they are the same pictures you have seen from the previous category, gives you the same feeling. And I'm glad that finally you admit it, that you do not want your pictures on categories because you feel that "they won't be seen". You're wrong as you are basing it solely on your own perception.
What you wrote above shows how quantity-driven you are, bragging your 120,000 photos and 1400 categories (some are doubles btw of other categories). Also, you said that you created those four related (redundant) categories about Chinatown because you want your pictures to get more exposure, and you think SEARCH results are based on category titles. Now I understand you more, SEARCH results on Commons are based NOT just the title of the category, but also from the file descriptions. The reason why we have been asking for shorter and SPECIFIC description of each file because that is how searches are made, not by just the category title. So now, searches on Commons (about the Philippines) are inaccurate because of your long, irrelevant descriptions. Your pictures are always on the results, but the results are most often junk, that is, not the ones you typed in. (Is that the reason you wrote all those long descriptions, so that your pictures are always on search results? I hope not.) So please stop making all those categories with the same contents, it does not make your files searchable. You have messed up the search on Commons.
Please don't call the readers of Commons "ignorant", that is just rude. And also, we are all volunteers here, and let me remind you, you are not the only one doing some sacrifices here just so we can have an good and organized Philippine entries here on Commons and Wikipedia. What do you mean that you have "limited knowledge of internet or Commons", you have created categories, you know how to upload files, you know how to rename categories. I think you know more than I am. What you lack is the capability to obey rules, or the knowledge or concern that fixing mistakes takes longer time than uploading.
Yes, you are the only one who took and upload all every angle-by-angle pictures because most levelheaded photographers only pick the best of their pictures and post only the good ones, they are not driven by numbers.
BTW, Flickr is free now, feel free to switch to that site if you want. There, no one will bother you if you break any rules. You can put as much description and over-categorize to your hearts content. Your pictures will get more exposure there as well. Thanks. -- Briarfallen (talk) 22:36, 11 February 2014 (UTC)

Comprehensive replies

I added a Wikibreak template on my Userpage and I updated it and asked an Administrator to ask Consensus of Administrators, on the statement of an editor here that I should be banned and stopped from editing. [4]. If the Blocking policy qualifies me to be warned or even blocked so be it. I want to wait for the reply of the Administrator on this mater. In addition, I offered to retire, if the consensus is that the blocking policy must punish me or anybody. My faith in this Commons compels me to rather know their thoughts in accordance with the Rules, since Commons is composed of Administrators and 1 or 2 non-administrators cannot say what is the consensus. I have no objection to the deletion of the blurry image, but I can upload a new version if the one who put the template would permit. The accusations above are serious and these must be addressed in detail in the Administrators Board or proper spaces. I referred the matter to an Administration for proper actions. --Ramon FVelasquez (talk) 02:56, 12 February 2014 (UTC)

 • No body is trying to get you blocked. User:Briarfallen and I are just so frustrated that there seems to be no improvement in the quality of your categories and descriptions. Because you should realize that fixing some 120,000 photos is a lot more work than uploading them. You want me to adopt you in order to help you. Well, that only works if you ask for help beforehand. Adopting does not mean that I follow all your uploads and fix it for you. Once we have given you instruction and guidelines, it is up to you to apply it. -- P 1 9 9   17:01, 12 February 2014 (UTC)
Time and time again again, we have always asked you to follow Wikimedia Commons rules especially about over-categorization and description on your files, but you are just disregarding them. You've been in Commons longer than I am, you are not new here. There is no rule in Commons where if you upload more than 100,000, you can do whatever you want. Another example is putting your pictures on categories where don't belong. (Like your recent addition to the Gates of Intramuros category, there were 20 plus pictures of Letran College with no hint of the Intramuros gates on them.) You are creating category clutter. Is this what you call "fulfilling the Scriptures in Heaven"? -- Briarfallen (talk) 18:51, 16 February 2014 (UTC)

ArchiveBot

Hi, I noticed you have set up User:MiszaBot to archive your talk page. Unfortunately, the bot has stopped working, and given how its operator is inactive, it is unclear when/if this will fixed. For the time being, I have volunteered to operate a MiszaBot clone (running the exact same code). With that said, your input would be appreciated at Commons:Bots/Requests/ArchiveBot 1.
