File:Odhran h-Ua Eolais.gif has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

Hi Nmclough, you took an interest in this cross-slab which I photographed and uploaded some time ago. I am grateful for any useful information added but I want to ask you for two things:

  • Image notes as you added here are used to mark things on an image, not to add a general description to it. The area you have marked here has no relationship to the text you have added to the image note. I hope that you don't mind that I've removed it. File:Holy Cross Abbey Charter Domnall Ua Briain King of Thomond.jpg is an example how transcriptions along with explanations can be added to an image per image notes with associated literature references in the associated description.
  • Whenever you add non-trivial information to the description of a photograph as you did here please add a reference to it. I've linked this photograph to the corresponding record at the Archaeological Survey of Ireland using the {{Archaeological Survey of Ireland}} template. The record provides a transcription of the inscription – I've added this to the description – but it does not include a translation. I wonder in particular where the “scribe” comes from.

Thanks and kind regards, AFBorchert (talk) 07:59, 26 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi AFBorchert, thanks very much for taking the time to reply. For image notes, I will note how to add transcriptions and explanations correctly, so I am glad you removed it. For the second question, I will look at this {{Archaeological Survey of Ireland}} template. I have written an article and used your image on the person who this cross-slab remembers: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/%C3%93dhr%C3%A1n_Ua_hEolais and initially I was going to add a hyperlink the source of this information but commons does not seem to pickup wikipedia hyperlinks so I changed my mind. Thank you Nmclough (talk) 08:54, 26 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Nmclough, interwiki links to en:wp can be done with a prefix of “:en:”, e.g. [[:en:Ódhrán Ua hEolais]] for en:Ódhrán Ua hEolais. You can apply the “|” syntax if you want to get rid of the visible prefix: [[:en:Ódhrán Ua hEolais|Ódhrán Ua hEolais]] delivers Ódhrán Ua hEolais. Alternatively, the {{W}} template can be used, e.g. {{w|Ódhrán Ua hEolais}} delivers Ódhrán Ua hEolais. More infos about interwiki links can be found at Help:Interwiki linking. Congratulations, BTW, for the fine article about Ódhrán Ua hEolais you wrote for en:wp. I've created a category for him at Commons, Category:Ódhrán Ua hEolais, added the images of his cross-slab to it, and linked that category to your article through Wikidata. You will notice now a link to this category from your article in the left navigation bar at the section labelled “In other projects”. Regards, AFBorchert (talk) 11:59, 26 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Category discussion warning

Manchán of Mohill has been listed at Commons:Categories for discussion so that the community can discuss ways in which it should be changed. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this category, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for discussion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it. If the category is up for deletion because it has been superseded, consider the notion that although the category may be deleted, your hard work (which we all greatly appreciate) lives on in the new category.

In all cases, please do not take the category discussion personally. It is never intended as such. Thank you!

Images from www.irelandglamping / Pink Apple Orchard Glamping[edit]

Hi Nmclough, you have uploaded images from www.irelandglamping / Pink Apple Orchard Glamping and tagged them with {{Cc-zero}}. Firstly, when you upload photographs that are not your own work, we need a written permission by the copyright holder passed to our support team. If this is missing, the photographs will be deleted. Secondly, if the photographs have been published somewhere else, we need an exact URL, not just a pointer to the site. Regards, AFBorchert (talk) 20:28, 1 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
