--Havang(nl) (talk) 10:35, 3 June 2011 (UTC)

Geograph categories

Hi, I've noticed recently that BotMultichillT has been trying to find better categories for various Geograph images. However, what also seems to be happening is that a lot of images are appearing in categories of counties they definitely shouldn't be in! For example, if you look at Category:Isle of Wight, a lot of the images there were actually Geograph images taken in Hampshire that have, for some reason also been added to the Isle of Wight. I understand in some cases it's difficult to determine exactly some categories with crossing boundaries, but with the Isle of Wight, which clearly has definite boundaries surely this shouldn't be a problem? I was just wondering if there was anything that could be done to try and help, as I've recently been recategorising a lot of files, only to find a few days later that even more have been incorrectly categorised and added to Isle of Wight categories, which is taking up quite a lot of time to then recategorise. Thanks, Editor5807speak 00:02, 6 June 2011 (UTC)

You should probably have a look at Commons:Batch uploading/Geograph and the talk page. In short: It's the best we have and I don't have any time to improve it. Please continue any discussion about Geograph at the batch uploading page. Multichill (talk) 06:32, 6 June 2011 (UTC)

Hidden license cats

Hello Multichill, it seems that a lot of uncategorised files are still lost inside the license cats, if it's possible, plese also run the bot there. Example of image which was never categorized, found by mere change: File:Shkodra river meeting.jpg. Thanks,-- Darwin Ahoy! 21:40, 6 June 2011 (UTC)

Hi Multichill. Are you 100% sure about this? I've been applying the {{subst:npd}} tag en masse to files bearing the {{OTRS-pending}} tag for more than a month. Before some 30,000+ files are potentially deleted, I just wanted to double check with you that this tag was appropriate. -FASTILY (TALK) 09:01, 10 June 2011 (UTC)

My two cents worth: The website says "Copyright © 2002-2011. Use of this web site and information available from it is subject to our Attribution-Share Alike Creative Commons License. We encourage non-commercial use of ant web images. Each image must be attributed to its photographer and to www.antweb.org." The site clearly links to CC-BY-SA-3.0, they "encourage" non-commecial use but don't exclude it by license, as the commons project page states they used to have a non-commercial license (archive.org early 2009). The history and licensing are clear even if we never receive an OTRS email. --Tony Wills (talk) 12:01, 10 June 2011 (UTC)

What June meetup are you referring to? Multichill (talk) 13:17, 11 June 2011 (UTC)

Barry Hunter or somebody, there was supposed to be an agreement being made between wikimedia and geograph?80.3.26.54 20:45, 15 June 2011 (UTC)

I am very disappointed after the effort I went to you can't even respond. Last I heard everybody was keen. What happened?Blofeld Dr. (talk) 11:20, 22 June 2011 (UTC)

Removing descriptions

Dear Chaoborus, please don't remove descriptions. If you think it's too crowded, just update it. Multichill (talk) 10:10, 12 June 2011 (UTC)

Thanks a lot ! I didn't know that template {{Multilingual description}} : it's great ! I'll use it now. Chaoborus (talk) 23:25, 13 June 2011 (UTC)
File:Orsellinic_acid_3dimage1.jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

Categorisation suggestion for the bot

Suggestion: don't tag /doc pages as uncategorised. Instead, add {{Documentation subpage}} at the top of the page (this categorises into Category:Template documentation). Thanks for a great bot BTW! Rd232 (talk) 22:22, 25 June 2011 (UTC)

PS I've tested some options to improve your archivebox, as it was pushing the table of contents a long way down the page. See what you think. Rd232 (talk) 22:36, 25 June 2011 (UTC)
Might implement that one day when I have time. I like the archive box the way it is now. Multichill (talk) 23:04, 25 June 2011 (UTC)
OK, good (on the bot). Sorry you didn't like the archive box thing - I thought it was quite neat. You might use {{Skip to talk}} if you want to stick with the current very tall archive box. cheers, Rd232 (talk) 00:21, 26 June 2011 (UTC)
