Creator pages

Hello,

Could your bot do the following:

  1. Create the remaining creator pages? (I am adding the dates on the main page now).
  2. Add links back to Commons from Wikipedia(s) in the languages where the article is available?
  3. Add a link to Wikisource (with {{wikisource|l=fr|Auteur:Firstname Lastname}})? What about other languages? (these are mainly French authors) Do we have a multilingual link template to Wikisource?
  4. Create the category for each author when it doesn't exist?
  5. Create the monthly categories with {{Monthbyyearbirths}} and {{Monthbyyeardeaths}} when necessary? (BTW, these categories sometimes do not show up, why's that? i.e. Category:Henri d'Arbois de Jubainville)
  6. Add the categories births and deaths by year to the author category? Shouldn't be done automatically when including the creator page (it doesn't seem to be the case)?

Best regards, Yann (talk) 08:03, 22 June 2010 (UTC)

Should I create a formal request? Regards, Yann (talk) 04:34, 7 July 2010 (UTC)

Hi. Can this be qualified? There are hundreds of images from this source and many or all of them are apparently okay. Thanks. Wknight94 talk 02:56, 7 July 2010 (UTC)

Pay attention to copyright
File:Zicht toegang MUDAM.jpg has been marked as a possible copyright violation. Your bot and approved tasks

Howdy. A bot of your's recently made this edit. While the edit does appear helpful, it does not appear to be listed here in the tasks section. I suggest either listing this task on that page, or getting approval for it if not done already.--Rockfang (talk) 01:56, 14 July 2010 (UTC)

See the bottom bullet. Multichill (talk) 06:29, 14 July 2010 (UTC)
Thank you for replying. Are you referring to the "maybe more" bullet? :) Rockfang (talk) 06:49, 14 July 2010 (UTC)
Yep, the catch all bullet :-). The list tends to not really cover exactly what the bot is doing. Will update the list of tasks at User:BotMultichillT later this week. Seems to be very out of date again. Multichill (talk) 08:26, 14 July 2010 (UTC)

Flickrripper

Hey there! As I promised, here is a little reminder to put in your todo list a possible implementation of a non-CLI interface for Flickrripper. Let me know if there's anything I can do to help in that regard. Also, it was nice to meet you! Cheers, Waldir talk 08:28, 14 July 2010 (UTC)

Permission for portraits by Jean-Claude Fourneau

It seems to me that the images I have loaded on Commons (see my watch list at July, 2, 2010), in spite of the fact that I have given all permissions to use them, are not yet fully received, for a reason that escapes far from my mind. Is it because I have already published them on site Jean-Claude Fourneau ? If it is, what can I do to obtain a clear authorisation to publish them ? It's a strange thing that text is so easily published, in spite of the copy dangers, and that it is nearly impossible for me to publish any image, even the rights of which are entirely and completely and fully mines ! I am elsewhere previously so tired at the idea of the numberless impeachments I'll have to jump through or over to obtain permission to publish photographs which have however been taken in first years of twentieth century, that I have no courage to begin. Profane letters, holly images, that's our poor times. It has something boring, I must say. Best regards --Thierry (talk) 10:24, 16 July 2010 (UTC)

Bot help

Hi. I composed a deletion request which affects some 50 pages. Could you put a template on each file by bot? I will add the request to the deletion log and notify the uploader myself, but I am really very reluctant to put a template on 50 files manually. Regards. --Blacklake (talk) 08:39, 16 July 2010 (UTC)

Ok, I finally did it myself, sorry for the disturbance. --Blacklake (talk) 13:45, 18 July 2010 (UTC)

Births/Deaths by month

The {{Creator}} template is changed back, soon the server cache will be updated but we will end up with a whole lot of empty categories or manually categorized content (I saw some people adding by month categories on categories on my watchlist). The list will be long [1]. Can we have bot help to replace month yyyy births back to yyyy births and month yyyy deaths to yyyy deaths for manually categorized files and people categories? And delete the empty categories? --Martin H. (talk) 13:41, 18 July 2010 (UTC)

You could use SieBot and then add {{Speedy}} to {{Monthbyyearbirths}}.  Docu  at 13:51, 18 July 2010 (UTC)
Moving everything out of the cats and deleting them shouldn't be that hard. Just to be sure: Do you guys think we have consensus on this (=nuking of birth/death by month cats)? Multichill (talk) 13:55, 18 July 2010 (UTC)
I guess it depends on how you weight some arguments and the question if you notified the creators of the categories of the discussion.  Docu  at 14:06, 18 July 2010 (UTC)
Maybe we should bring the case a second time (first time: see archive) to VP? My personal interpretion is that the vaste majority of this categories came from the creator templates, only a small number was added by hand just following the creator templates example, not because it was necessary. --Martin H. (talk) 14:33, 18 July 2010 (UTC)
Could you do that Martin? Maybe invite some of the people who created this? Multichill (talk) 16:50, 18 July 2010 (UTC)
For your information: I have left a message for the person who created many, many of these months categories. See AnRo0002 talkpage, but he/she did not react on the VP. Wouter (talk) 21:11, 18 July 2010 (UTC)

I forgot about this, sorry. See COM:VP#Births/deaths by month. --Martin H. (talk) 05:30, 24 July 2010 (UTC)

Only responses are in favour of nuking and the creator of this is not responding. Cleaning up atm. Multichill (talk) 19:11, 24 July 2010 (UTC)

Universal replacements stalled

Gday. If you have time would you please tickle the belly of CommonsDelinkerHelper as it doesn't seem to be prompting CommonsDelinker to undertake universal replacements. Thanks.  — billinghurst sDrewth 16:43, 20 July 2010 (UTC)

Commonscat at fr.wiki

Hi,

I see your message for French Wikipedia on this page. Why the system is broken ? On fr.wiki, we use the template {{Autres projets}} to specify the commons category, {{Commonscat}} is deprecated. This work with your system ? Thanks. Can you answer on fr:User_talk:Myst, thanks. Myst (talk) 15:37, 24 July 2010 (UTC)

April 1939 births

Just curious, why was Category:April 1939 births emptied and deleted? Nyttend (talk) 23:39, 24 July 2010 (UTC)

In case you wonder, this edit prompted my question. Nyttend (talk) 23:40, 24 July 2010 (UTC)
After having a look at them, one wonders why they were created in the first place. Not well-populated, and their value has to be questioned.  — billinghurst sDrewth 03:55, 25 July 2010 (UTC)
See #Births/Deaths by month and Commons:Village pump#Births/deaths by month. Multichill (talk) 07:45, 25 July 2010 (UTC)
Was this one overlooked by your bot: Category:Dirck van der Lisse ‎ (removed Category:August 1607 births; added Category:1607 births using HotCat) (top) which I just adapted by hand .--Havang(nl) (talk) 16:16, 25 July 2010 (UTC)
The bot overlooked some. Some of them had both categories, some of them had e.g. 'actors born in the 1930s' caegories, maybe that was the cause. I went through the categories with prefix January... to December... and replaced or fixed the overseen categories. --Martin H. (talk) 20:10, 25 July 2010 (UTC)
The bot worked on the categories with the template on it. After that I did a query and delete some by hand. Might be a little error in the query. Multichill (talk) 20:24, 25 July 2010 (UTC)
To both of you thanks for having done the additional deletions. --Havang(nl) (talk) 20:31, 25 July 2010 (UTC)

Patrol / delete bug

Good morning:

There is a nuisance bug in the page patrol system. If you delete a new page that has not yet been marked as patrolled, no problem. But if you move it without first marking it as patrolled (as at Lazar Brcic Kostic), it remains in the unpatrolled log and as far as I know the only way to get it out is to recreate it, mark it patrolled, and then delete it. Not a big deal -- I run across it about once a week as I patrol new galleries. Regards,      Jim . . . . Jameslwoodward (talk to me) 12:59, 25 July 2010 (UTC)

Do you have a bugzilla id? Multichill (talk) 13:01, 25 July 2010 (UTC)
I first ran into it before I was an admin and if I recall correctly the admin who fixed the problem told me either that he/she had reported it or that it was already on the list, I don't remember which. As long as we remember to mark "patrolled" first, it's no problem, so it's not worth much fix time, I think. Regards,      Jim . . . . Jameslwoodward (talk to me) 13:58, 25 July 2010 (UTC)

Request

I've seen your bot working hard on the month categories :). May be you can help with posting the template: {{Flickr-change-of-license}} in all the files in Category:Paata Vardanashvili's photos. The user change the license so it will save me some work {small amount of the files have the template). Thanks. Geagea (talk) 02:19, 26 July 2010 (UTC)

A mystery to solve!

Hello from Canada! Can you help me solve a mystery? There is an image of Doge Agostino Barbarigo posted on Wiki that I would dearly love to know who painted; where the painting is located; and anything else I can learn about the painting. I teach Venetian history at the University of Toronto, and this painting of Doge Barbarigo is almost identical to one of another Doge I've been researching. The director at the Ashmolean Museum here at Oxford believes the two paintings may be part of a series by the same painter. I am currently at Oxford doing research into Venetian history and stumbled across your reference. Can you help? If so, please send me a note.... Many thanks! Bonnie bshettler@sympatico.ca July 2010

Noted this. Corrected File:Basaiti Portrait of Doge Agostino Barbarigo.jpg according to the source. File:Agostino Barbarigo.jpg seems wrong according to the description I added to the aforementioned. Imo its the same painting (from the same museum) just with wrong information. The gallery etc was given with the file description of both files already. The rest is with you, we only transfered the images from outside sources. --Martin H. (talk) 05:54, 29 July 2010 (UTC)
