Possible bot move

Hi Multichill. Would it be possible, in Category:SVG coats of arms - France to replace all "catSVGCOA=- France" occurences with "catSVGCOA=" ? Thank you anyway. --Foroa (talk) 18:21, 3 June 2009 (UTC)

An if possible in Category:SVG coats of arms - Canada replace all "catSVGCOA=- Canada" occurences with "catSVGCOA=of Canada". --Foroa (talk) 16:30, 4 June 2009 (UTC)
I will have a look at it. Multichill (talk) 19:27, 3 June 2009 (UTC)
+ strange error in Category:SVG coats of arms - France redirect template. --Foroa (talk) 06:43, 24 June 2009 (UTC)
I'm (finally) changing everything now. I don't feel like debugging that template error right now. It's layers of templates so it's probably quite hard to spot. The name of the current category seems to be causing problems. Multichill (talk) 09:53, 24 June 2009 (UTC)
Two more questions:
Great job well doen. Thank you. --Foroa (talk) 18:25, 9 July 2009 (UTC)
You're welcome. I replaced (almost?) all references to Category:Unidentified subjects. The code:
replace.py -lang:commons -family:commons -ref:Category:Unidentified_subject -regex -nocase "\[\[:Category:Unidentified subject" "[[:Category:Unidentified subjects" -summary:"Category:Unidentified subject moved to Category:Unidentified subjects"
Multichill (talk) 18:28, 9 July 2009 (UTC)

Hey, it was great to meet you in Berlin! Thanks also a bunch for your input on the WLA template; I've made some adjustments now, and it would be good to know what you think of these.--Pharos (talk) 01:56, 17 June 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for the reminder. I'll post my concerns/suggestions at the talk page. Got your email btw, you should have received a reply by now. Multichill (talk) 10:33, 24 June 2009 (UTC)

Hi there. I'm having a little pesky template trouble, and maybe you can help; we're trying to get Template:WLA to work even if the id parameter is empty (as it will be in a few cases, when the exhibit itself does not have an id number). Thanks!--Pharos (talk) 16:08, 16 July 2009 (UTC)

Your bot User:BotMultichillT could do better ...

Hi, your bot just left a note on my disk about a file being uncategorized. Actually it was already categorized but carried the uncategorized cat in addition. In such cases it would be a real enhancment if the bot would not falsely complain about a picture being uncategorized but rather report contradicting cat information. Even better, remove the uncategorized cat in such cases where a valid cat is already present and notify the user about it.

BTW: The actual root cause for the confusion was the upload process of commons, which does not care about existing category and license tags when a file is being transferred from a particular wiki project to commons. I was not aware of this behaviour and assumed that adding a valid category during the upload would take care of such issues - and had to find out that the uploader is quite dumb in this respect. Best regards, --Burkhard (talk) 18:31, 25 June 2009 (UTC)

It's very hard to distinguish between topic categories and other categories (also see #Categories on images). The (very conservative) logic to decide if an image is uncategorized is in the uncategorized bot. The other bot merely checks if an image is tagged with {{Uncategorized}}. If an image is tagged with {{Uncategorized}} and one or more topic categories, a human should check it anyway. Multichill (talk) 00:26, 26 June 2009 (UTC)
You are saying that the bot is (contrary to what it claims) not checking if the image is uncategorized, it simply looks for a maintenance tag! If that's so I strongly suggest to report to the user exactly this situation and refrain from interpreting signs as the cause. It's extremly confusing and annoying to be told that you did not categorize a picture when you're absolutely sure that you have added a valid cat. Why not stick to the facts: "Your picture carries a maintenace flag {{Uncategorized}}. This can be caused by
  • failure to remove the {{Uncategorized}} tag , please check and remove this tag if suitable categories are present
  • the image really is uncategorized, please do the following ....
BTW: A general thought: I assume that there are good reasons justifying the use of maintenance tags - but on the other hand - the use of maintenance tags creates situations where you have two sources of information that are not necessarily in synch with each other.
regards, --Burkhard (talk) 21:04, 26 June 2009 (UTC)
If the bot had not informed you maybe you would not have noticed that the {{Uncategorized}} was on the image. So to me it seems like a happy end after all. So instead of changeing the bot that informed you it would be better to prevent that the template comes on the image in the first place. Sadly I'm not sure how to do that. --MGA73 (talk) 11:09, 8 July 2009 (UTC)
Drahkrub, this is a wiki, feel free to improve {{Please link images/en}}
MGA73, probably hidden somewhere in the upload form. Multichill (talk) 18:11, 9 July 2009 (UTC)

what does the substituting mean?

The edits of the bot today like this one is a bit confuse, the image has three categories since Februar and it is solved. Somebody who does not know why you do it need some time to check it instead of doing something better. In my eyes it is fully OT. Regards, -jkb- (talk) 15:46, 26 June 2009 (UTC)

Substitution is replacing a call to a template with the contents of the template. I'm doing it here because the template should be substituted, see Commons:Village pump#Link issue. What are you trying to say? What's "OT"? Multichill (talk) 16:12, 26 June 2009 (UTC)

I mean that the substituting of a message that is some five month old and done is off topic and iritating. When so you could delete the massage (I did it). But when I see it I think in the first moment that there is something to do and I search a while. That is not necessary, I guess. But, never mind, regards -jkb- (talk) 16:21, 26 June 2009 (UTC)

The bot is flagged and the edits are minor so no orange new message bar. Most users probably won't even notice it. Multichill (talk) 16:24, 26 June 2009 (UTC)

:-) you might be right, but I did... OK, be well and nice weekend. -jkb- (talk) 16:32, 26 June 2009 (UTC)

Looks like it all went fine. I substituted all usage now. Multichill (talk) 18:08, 9 July 2009 (UTC)

OTRS received images

Hello, Multichill. You (or your bot) marked these images with {{OTRS received}} some time ago, but it doesn't look like they've had any further action on them since. Would you mind taking a look at these to see if we have permission for them or if they should be marked for deletion? Thanks! I might have more later on as my bot continues to run. Hersfold (talk/work) 03:56, 27 June 2009 (UTC)

And some more...

Commons:OTRS/Noticeboard is probably a better place to put these kind of requests. Multichill (talk) 18:07, 9 July 2009 (UTC)

File:IMRanch-Dollie.jpg's permission still unconfirmed

Hello, Multichill. The file linked to in the above header has been marked with {{OTRS received}}, but there has been no complete confirmation of it's permission status in the last 30 days. From what I'm able to tell, you were the person who added this template. Would you mind taking a look at this again? If confirmation cannot be found, this file should probably be marked for deletion. This should be the only notification you will receive regarding this image, so long as the comment I added to the image description page is not altered. Thanks! HersfoldOTRSBot(talk/opt out) 04:03, 27 June 2009 (UTC)

If you are not an OTRS volunteer or did not add the "received" template to this file, it's possible I made a mistake identifying the correct user. I look for the most recent diff where the template was added, so if you reverted an edit where this template was removed, I can't tell the difference. If this is the case, please let my operator know at w:en:User talk:Hersfold. Sorry for the inconvenience!

Left a note about this at User talk:Hersfold#Notify the right user. Multichill (talk) 18:05, 9 July 2009 (UTC)
You're half right - it should have gone to User:Andrew c, since the bot was leaving a note about the OTRS received template rather than the status of the image itself. I think I know what was causing the problem, so I'll look into fixing it shortly. Thanks for the note. Hersfold (talk/work) 19:40, 26 July 2009 (UTC)

Help please -- for file you marked as uncategorized

You recently marked file "File:096-newt1687-figp434.jpg" as uncategorized, with a request to categorize it.

I can see that it belongs in category "Gravitation" with possible subcategory "Orbit".

But I can't find my way through the system to add that information, in the correct format, to the file page or record.

Please could you help? With thanks in advance, Terry0051 (talk) 19:09, 27 June 2009 (UTC)

[From Terry0051] I think I've managed to do it now. Terry0051 (talk) 19:19, 27 June 2009 (UTC)
Great! Have fun here at Commons. Multichill (talk) 18:02, 9 July 2009 (UTC)

AuFaisanDoreKingdom01.jpg and 02.jpg

Hello Multichill. Being a new user of Wikipedia, I find all this process rather confusing. I wrote to you earlier but before I could post my message another one titled "HIDDENCAT" popped up and then I really didn't know how to handle that new hurdle so I deleted my message and started from scratch again. I noticed that some categories have been added on the pages of my 2 images. Is it really possible that a robot could have done that? Anyway, I think it did a good job. The thing that remains to be done is to get rid of the yellow box that says " The categories of this image should be checked. Check them now!" How do I do that? Also, strangely enough, sometimes that box is in English, other times it is in French and it says : «Il faudrait vérifier les catégories associées à cette image. Vérification immédiate. » Oclupak (talk) 17:43, 28 June 2009 (UTC)

Hello Multichill, I wrote to you on June 28 but you haven't responded. Please tell me how to remove the yellow templates that your bot installed. I wouldn't want to mess everything up by deleting something which should not be deleted. Thank you. Oclupak (talk) 18:20, 6 July 2009 (UTC)
Hi Oclupak, the bot is used as a backup when users don't add categories. The bot adds one or more categories based on the usage of the image. It's possible that you sometimes see the message in a different language. The template uses the interface language to decide which language to show. To get rid of the big yellow box click the "Check them now!" link. This will remove the template and put you in edit mode. You only have to press "save page" now. Multichill (talk) 13:49, 9 July 2009 (UTC)

Please help with categories!

I'm sorry but I've never put any category in Commons. Could you kindly show how to do it at any picture from my contribution [1], and then I'll multiply. --Ozolina (talk) 20:02, 29 June 2009 (UTC)

All your uploads appear to be properly categorized now. Multichill (talk) 17:55, 9 July 2009 (UTC)

Hello, I have added categories, but I see still the message:Media needing categories as of 27 August 2009, and Media needing category review in use at nl.wikipedia, Media needing category review with 1 suggested category. --Winius (talk)

quick question.

hello, I have recently posted a picture on the article about the creature from the Alien Film Series. It was supposed to be of one of the creatures eggs. For some reason, the picture was deleted and it's not in my gallery. Can you explain why that is?

--Evilmaster23 (talk) 14:44, 1 July 2009 (UTC)Evilmaster23

I don't know which image you're talking about, none of your contributions appear to be deleted.
Btw, you do understand that all your uploads can be used anywhere for about anything? Multichill (talk) 17:53, 9 July 2009 (UTC)

I´ve sent an email today as you sugested. Some more details on the page about this possible batch uploading. Sincerely Tm (talk) 15:12, 2 July 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for your note, I watchlisted the page now. Multichill (talk) 17:51, 9 July 2009 (UTC)

thank you for letting me know...

...to categorize pictures. i didnt know that each image has its own page. thanks again, that you already categorized the picture. --Faustamente (talk) 11:56, 3 July 2009 (UTC)

Yes, looks like one of my bots found some categories. Multichill (talk) 17:50, 9 July 2009 (UTC)

Not exactly a false positive....

...I've just been informed by your bot that a picture I uploaded is uncategorized. The image was a short-term temporary upload, and I had already tagged it for speedy deletion. I don't know if this is the sort of thing that comes up often enough to write an exception for, but this is just a heads-up. -GTBacchus(talk) 22:04, 3 July 2009 (UTC)

Yes, that happens when an image is {{Uncategorized}}. I'm not going to make exceptions for this. Multichill (talk) 17:49, 9 July 2009 (UTC)

Hi!

Your bot added the wrong categories to that image. I removed them. --MaiusGermanicus (talk) 15:36, 4 July 2009 (UTC)

Don't just remove categories! Add proper categories or revert to the {{Uncategorized}} state. Multichill (talk) 17:48, 9 July 2009 (UTC)

Category: Deutscher Schäferhund - one more time

About Licence

Hello.. I am Lauro, and I received your alert about category in images that I have uploaded to commons. Thanks. I already have categorized all the pictures.

I'm having a problem with licences. I would like a licence wich could permit all modifications, distributions, and so on, but i would like to forbid only the commercial use (money profit) of my images (and their futured modifications). What kind of licence can I use?

I beg your pardon about my english, but I am a brazilian, and I speak portuguese as a native language.

Thanks.

--Lauro Chieza de Carvalho (talk) 18:50, 5 July 2009 (UTC)

I'm sorry but Commons only allows images which can be used freely. This includes commercial usage. See Commons:Licensing for details. Multichill (talk) 17:44, 9 July 2009 (UTC)

bot edits after IP vandalism

Hi Multichill,
I want to notify you about a problem, in case you aren't aware of it already. When patrolling for vandal edits at the weekend, I found quite some instances where an IP-vandal had removed legitimate content including cats from images. Then within short, your bot recognized the (now) missing cats and put the usual add-cats-tag on it, such as for example in this case (or this or this). However, this bot edit made it impossible to use the fast revert function. It might be worth to consider fine-tuning the bot to check whether the last edit was an IP edit and then either do nothing or to alarm an vandal bot, if that is possible at all. --Túrelio (talk) 05:54, 6 July 2009 (UTC)

It would be nice for you to comment, as the problem is still going on[2]. --Túrelio (talk) 05:51, 8 July 2009 (UTC)
This kind of vandalism should be caught by the abusefilter. Special:AbuseFilter/27 seems to be the relevant filter. Multichill (talk) 13:52, 9 July 2009 (UTC)
After taking a good look at the filter I think it's better to create a new filter for image namespace. This filter should prevent this kind of vandalism and this way also prevent my bots from adding {{Uncategorized}}. Do you want to help with creating this filter? Multichill (talk) 14:18, 9 July 2009 (UTC)
As I have no knowledge/experience with filters and programing, I would probably be of little help. --Túrelio (talk) 15:21, 9 July 2009 (UTC)
Anyway, I added it to my (by now quite large) todo list. Multichill (talk) 17:42, 9 July 2009 (UTC)
Thanks. --Túrelio (talk) 19:59, 9 July 2009 (UTC)

An idea

Hello Multichill. Today, I received your message on my talk page. It is about uncategorized image.
My image has been already tagged on upload, although {{Uncategorized}} tag had been remained ...
I think your bot will make more people happy if it removes {{Uncategorized}} tag on already categorized image.
I believe your sincere efforts. Many thanks. --Shoulder-synth (talk) 12:32, 7 July 2009 (UTC)

Unfortunately that's quite hard, see #Your bot User:BotMultichillT could do better .... Multichill (talk) 17:36, 7 July 2009 (UTC)

empty BArch categories

Hi Multi, something went wrong? Or are Category:Images from the German Federal Archive by year and all other (by batch/location/topic) are realy obsolete? All categories are empty at the moment. --Martin H. (talk) 17:31, 7 July 2009 (UTC)

Nope, time to delete the temp cats. Almost all images are categorized. Unfortunately the images left in Category:Images from the German Federal Archive needing categories don't contain any workable temp cats. Multichill (talk) 17:34, 7 July 2009 (UTC)
Are the "by date" and the "by batch" categories temporary categories?
I think the by date categories are still very usefull, a date or time period categorization is not yet done for most images and they are helpfull for finding possible PD images.
Im unsure about the by batch categories, they are extremly usefull to keep similar photos or photos from the same sources together, but of course Commons is not BArchII. --Martin H. (talk) 17:41, 7 July 2009 (UTC)
Automatic categorization is a hack and was just to get people started, not to be around forever. About automatically adding dates we had a discussion at the village pump recently. The batch categories weren't that useful because one batch contained most of the images. Multichill (talk) 18:03, 7 July 2009 (UTC)

Hell-oh, Have a Nice Day; can You rebuild please the category 'Images from the German Federal Archive by year' ?! I seen the edited messages here (up), but i mean for this Historical category, and for a historian more useful the original version of this category (and You wrote: "Almost all images are categorized." = ALMOST...) and ALL the original Picts in the start of XXIth Century... Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Arturotosca (talk • contribs) 17:59, 9 July 2009 (UTC)

Rebuild tree? No. This was just a temporary tree to get categorization started. If the date is relevant the images should be put somewhere in Category:Germany in the 20th century. Multichill (talk) 17:40, 9 July 2009 (UTC)

Hi. Do we REALLY need to delete these categories?... I've found them very useful, especially those from WW2 period, to search images. You wrote "Almost all images are categorized". In many cases, they were wrong categorized, and if something was put into a wrong category, now I'm afraid, that we may never find it. Some cases of categorization are just absurd, like placing thousands of photos taken in Berlin (even of anonymous workers) in a category "history of Berlin" pibwl (talk) 20:28, 10 July 2009 (UTC)

Danke/Thanks (for Your Work and for the Answer)! But very interesting, more People has the same viewpoint in this case !
Please take a look at Commons:Village pump#Bundesarchiv categories. I left a comment over there. Multichill (talk) 20:42, 13 July 2009 (UTC)

It is a great shame that the 'temporary category' "by year" has been deleted as this was extremely useful for historians when researching images. It is not possible to know in advance what one might find when searching an archive of this size- for example one might not know what pictures are available for the German invasion of Poland but it is possible to work out that they will be in the year 1939. However under the classification system you have adopted only a small number of the pictures that do exist from the German Federal Archive for the occupation Poland have actually been categorised as such. Many have to be found under the individual German army units. This action seriously undermines the credibility of Wikipedia as a serious repository of images and and makes it less likely that other large institutions will donate their images to Wikipedia in the future ( if people can't find the images what's the point?). Until the categorisation problem, and there seriously is one, can be solved then can we have the "by year" category restored, as it was the one most people intuitively understood, and the most efficient for the purposes of the type of search I have described? --86.177.28.151 21:25, 17 July 2009 (UTC)

You're repeating yourself, so i'll repeat myself too: No. Multichill (talk) 22:18, 17 July 2009 (UTC)

What a rude and extremely unhelpful person you are! I thought that the point of Wiki Commons was to facilitate access to public domain resources, not to bury them in arbitrarily determined categories where the average person cannot find them. Why are you being so obstructive? Do you feel you own these images?

Multichill if not unhelpful. He does a great job keeping or creating structure here on Commons (and on many wikies around the world). As you can see from his talk page he gets a lot of messages and many of them from people, that hase not read older debate. Every minute he has to spend reading/writing here gives him less time doing wonders on Commons.
You asked if he wanted to help and he said no. As you can se from the debate here Commons:Village_pump#Bundesarchiv_categories he has given a reason. The best would be to continute the debate there since Multichill does not own the pictures (and he knows that). --MGA73 (talk) 08:45, 19 July 2009 (UTC)

Presseamt Liechtenstein

The Presseamt Lichtenstein provides free images, see Template:Landesverwaltung Liechtenstein, related Category. The images are on http://www.llv.li/amtsstellen/llv-pia-fotoservice.htm separated in 15 section, most interesting the 2nd (Pressefotos-Archiv, press photo archive). Can you review the site and give an estimation if a batch upload is possible? Which preliminary work is to do to prepare an transfer? --Martin H. (talk) 16:31, 9 July 2009 (UTC)

I took a look. Would be nice to ask them if they could license everything under the {{Cc-by-3.0}}. Also a dump of their database (imageid & description pairs) would make this a lot easier (no crawling needed). If we have a dump, doing the batch upload should be pretty straightforward, although without a dump it would still be possible. We could use their categories for categorization here. Looks like a suitable candidate for Commons:Batch uploading. Multichill (talk) 17:32, 9 July 2009 (UTC)

Removing cats

Hi Multichill. Is there a way to remove from all images in Category:Australien their Australien category as all those images are (nearly) properly categorised in Australia anyway. Thank you. --Foroa (talk) 07:55, 17 July 2009 (UTC)

I'm filtering the categories now (imagerecat.py -onlyfilter -cat:Australien). This will move all the images to the redirect target and filter overcategorization, example. Multichill (talk) 10:08, 17 July 2009 (UTC)
✓ Done, Multichill (talk) 10:31, 17 July 2009 (UTC)

Bundesarchiv image categorization finished

As of today, July 22, 2009, all of the images that are part of the Bundesarchiv project have been categorized. That said, the temporary categories that you have created (images needing categories from 4 Dec and 9 Dec) are now empty. As you have already done for the 3 Dec category, I think that you can delete them now. Thanks so much for all of the hard work you do categorizing images: I have really learned to appreciate what people like you do after trying categorizing myself for a couple of months! TFCforever (talk) 02:58, 22 July 2009 (UTC)

Wow, that's great! Some people might reason that categorization is never finished, at least all these images have at least one category. Looks like some last remaining images to categorize are still in Category:Images from the German Federal Archive involving sports. Multichill (talk) 17:25, 22 July 2009 (UTC)

Uncategorized

Hello,

would you please help me in categorizing my photograph i have uploaded? I am new at this site. I tried my best but still can not make it. A little confusing for me at this time. I have uploaded the pic of famous concert pianist Giorgi Latsabidze accepting a Carol Hogel music scholarship given by Thornton School of Music, USC. I understand I should put it under "music" category. However, I have troubles with it.

I would be most appreciative for any kind of assistance.

Thank you! Peter Awarelike (talk) 07:22, 24 July 2009 (UTC)

Hi Awarelike! If the person is the same as this one en:User:Music43lover/Giorgi_Latsabidze i suggest you add [[Category:1978 births]] and [[Category:Pianists from Georgia]] + maybe a category for music scholarship (not sure which). Just add the text on the image page (File:Giorgi Latsabidze at the Dickens Dinner.jpg). --MGA73 (talk) 08:05, 24 July 2009 (UTC)

Hi Multichill. Thanks for a suggestions. I followed your instruction. Now I can see on the bottom of the page: 1978 births | Pianists from Georgia. Could you please check it out for me if it looks all right now?

Also I had one more question: This page still says: "This file is missing evidence of permission."

I got a permission to use this photograph from Giorgi Latsabidze. He got a license for this photograph from Lee Salem Photography taken by professional photograph at the Dicken's Dinner in Biltmore Hotel, L.A. Dec 5. 2008. I have forwarded via email both Latsabidze's and Lee Salem's permission to use this pic to permissions-commons@wikimedia.org. Is there anything more I should do?

Thanks!

I added a {{OTRSpending}} on the image. That should keep admins from deleting the file until permission has been verified. I do not think, that there is anything more for you to do. --MGA73 (talk) 21:51, 30 July 2009 (UTC)

Removed author

Hmm, really strange, but thanks for notice. Yarl 08:34, 24 July 2009 (UTC)

File:Vaderenzoon.jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

BotMultichill and License migration

Hi Multichill,

i saw your license migration here. Generally, adding Cc-by-sa-3.0-migrated will shown the right license-information. but through the template-system this is generating an error: the category License migration redundant is added. But this is wrong, because the status isn't redundant, it is "completed". So it will be better if you added |migration=relicense instead of the new license-template. Or?

Greeting, --Quedel (talk) 15:49, 26 July 2009 (UTC)

So someone should fix that template. Multichill (talk) 20:30, 26 July 2009 (UTC)

Could you delete three talk pages whose categories you have just deleted?

Dear Multichill,

Thanks so much for deleting the categories Category:Images from the German Federal Archive by location, Category:Images from the German Federal Archive by year, and Category:Images from the German Federal Archive needing categories. I really appreciate your hard work in cleaning up these empty and (now) useless categories.

However, their talk pages still exist: could you delete Category talk:Images from the German Federal Archive by location, Category talk:Images from the German Federal Archive by year, and Category talk:Images from the German Federal Archive needing categories as well? I'm hoping to catch you while you are working so this can get done right away, but if not, don't worry about it: I'll file for speedy deletion for all of them. Thanks!

File:P1000078-retocado.JPG

Could your bot please stop marking the file File:P1000078-retocado.JPG as unkategorized? This file is marked as {{bad name|Waiblingen - Neidkopf 01.jpg}} and should be deleted and not categorized. Thank you. --ecelan (talk) 19:13, 28 July 2009 (UTC)

Don't blank pages, just add the template. Thank you, Multichill (talk) 20:02, 28 July 2009 (UTC)

Hi,

I noticed your revert. IMO, templates which are not ready to be translated should not be mentionned in Commons:Template i18n/Infobox templates, since the goal of this page is to watch a translation status and that no translation means no status. Furthermore there are probably many and many other templates like {{Philately}} which are not ready to be translated and not mentionned in this page though; but if anyone adds anything to this page, it would quickly becomes useless—and I guess we both don't want it.

But currently this is not a big deal. Bibi Saint-Pol (sprechen) 21:06, 28 July 2009 (UTC)

categorizing

Thanks for the note via your bot on my talk page. I always add categories to my images, and I often know which category each belongs in prior to uploading so I include the category directly in the upload form. That's what I did with Image:Russell, North Dakota.jpg. However, it appears that adding categories in the upload form aren't doing any good, since it looks like the categories didn't take. Is there some problem with the upload form that could be causing this?Dcmacnut (talk) 17:45, 30 July 2009 (UTC)

Do you mean File:Russell, North Dakota.png? Sometimes strange things happen. If you have added right categories manually it should be just fine :-) --MGA73 (talk) 21:54, 30 July 2009 (UTC)
