Hallo.
Euro bills
There is a current deletion request about copyrighted euro coins and bills photographs Commons:Deletion_requests#Euro_bills —FoeNyx 19:13, 1 Apr 2005 (UTC)
Hi - you copied the image of Jennifer Lopez from the english wikipedia and labeled it as public domain. Please clearify why the image is in the public domain - a simple claim is not enough: the copyright status has to be varifyable. Thus, please at least provide information as to who took the picture, so s/he can be asked if the image is really PD in case someone wants to use it in a book, on a t-shirt, etc. If you don't know, please try to get that info from the user who uploaded it to the english wikipedia. Thank you
PS: Sorry for being picky about this, but we quite often have the problem that images are labeled as PD even though they are not. Some people seem to think PD is the same as "I found it somewhere on the web"... -- Duesentrieb 20:17, 8 Apr 2005 (UTC)
- Have a look at this google image search: http://images.google.com/images?q=Jennifer+lopez the image is on the first page, twice. Now, it would be possible that they got it from the wikipedia, or someone did release it in the public domain. But how can we be sure? -- Duesentrieb 20:21, 8 Apr 2005 (UTC)
- Heya Daniel, you're right. I'll ask him. Mattes 20:33, 8 Apr 2005 (UTC)
Thank you for contributing to WikiCommons. I see that you have uploaded this image of the king of Sweden and claim that it has a GFDL license. May I ask why you claim this? Thuresson 11:07, 10 Apr 2005 (UTC)
- I have relied on the statement of the original picture in the Englisch language WP and I have now requested details of the uploader [1]. Mattes 14:26, 10 Apr 2005 (UTC)
Fair Use
Hi - fair use images are not allowed on the commons because this concept does not exist in many countries, or it is applicable only under a wide range of different restrictions. The german "Zitatrecht" for instance if far more restrictive than the US "fair use". Thus, it is pretty much impossible to determine where and how such images can be used. This is the reason such images are not allowed on the commons. For more information, see Commons:Licensing and Commons:Criteria for inclusion. -- Duesentrieb 10:13, 16 Apr 2005 (UTC)
Do you have other sources for claiming this is PD? You refer to english Wikipedia who doesn't have any sources for claiming PD. Now listed at Commons:Deletion requests. Thuresson 06:18, 20 Apr 2005 (UTC)
Bilder aus der deutschen Wikipedia
Hallo !
Danke ! --Denniss 19:37, 16 May 2005 (UTC)

We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry. If you created this image, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. If the file is up for deletion because it has been superseded by a superior derivative of your work, consider the notion that although the file may be deleted, your hard work (which we all greatly appreciate) lives on in the new file. |

Image Tagging Image:Hasibhussain.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Hasibhussain.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikimedia Commons (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.
If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use {{GFDL-self}} to release it under the GFDL or {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain. See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find all your uploads using the Gallery tool. Thank you.

-- Wolfgang Kopp 12:01, 14 May 2006 (UTC)
I added this tag. All images of goverment agencies provided to the public are subject for a free display. This picture, for example, has been in the "Bundesanzeiger" as a supplement (Muster für einen Reiseausweis aus Paßersatz o.ä.). Mattes 12:13, 14 May 2006 (UTC)
Please consider that "free display" is not enough for Wikimedia Commons. All images in this database must have a free license that includes the possibility to change the original work and create derivative works. This is the case for copyright free parts "of a statute, ordinance, official decree or judgment" (§ 5 (1) UrhG), but not for other official works, that have been published officially (§ 5 (2) UrhG), because they may only be displayed and distributed unaltered (see de:Amtliches Werk). I can't tell you if being supplement (Muster) makes a work part of an official decree with respect to German copyright. -- Wolfgang Kopp 12:23, 14 May 2006 (UTC)

Hi, one of your photos on the commons is said to be Wat Sisaket, in Vientiane; however, there's someone on the en Laos article claiming that it's actually of That Luang temple (which I presume is not the same thing as That Luang itsef). Do you know if he could be right? 84.64.111.160 19:25, 6 June 2006 (UTC)

Mattes 19:23, 5 August 2006 (UTC)
- Streiche Commons-Artikel, setze Themenseiten oder Kategorien bei Commons. Mattes 11:47, 7 August 2006 (UTC)

Image Tagging Image:Cksarptnasa.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Cksarptnasa.jpg. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikimedia Commons (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.
If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag, then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use {{Cc-by-sa-2.5}} to release it under the Creative Commons or {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain.
Thank you. It turns out that the source image on Wikipedia is available under a non-commercial-use license, so it can at best be used under fair use, but fair use is not allowed in the Wikimedia Commons. Jesse Viviano 21:01, 17 September 2006 (UTC)

Image deletion warning | Image:Title transport.jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry. If you created this image, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. If the file is up for deletion because it has been superseded by a superior derivative of your work, consider the notion that although the file may be deleted, your hard work (which we all greatly appreciate) lives on in the new file. |
