Kanadische Bilder

Hallo Martin.

--Martin H. (talk) 17:07, 1 November 2009 (UTC)
The Random Acts of Kindness Barnstar
Many thanks for all your help! MarmadukePercy (talk) 20:43, 1 November 2009 (UTC)

Hi Martin H! User has requested an unblock. If it's true what user said it is a sad story. We do not know but I'm willing to give the user a second chance. We can always block again. Would you object if I gave user this chance? Seeing you recent barnstar I can only hope to be as kind as you ;-) --MGA73 (talk) 08:40, 2 November 2009 (UTC)

The number of deleted uploads is a mortgage. Obviously he not has any self created images he can contribute here, so he can only upload free images from external sources. Did he understand that this is his only way to upload something? Did he understand that he can only upload freely licensd stuff and what freely licensed means? At the moment I dont think so, he only wants to upload images. --Martin H. (talk) 11:36, 2 November 2009 (UTC)
He said someone else was using his account and that he now has changed the password. As I said if it is true that it was someone else that uploaded the copyvio then it is a sad story. We can never be sure. We can either keep user blocked or we can give him a chance. If he does good then we are all happy. If not we can easy block again. It is almost x-mas so I find it hard to say no to people :-) Oh, and you will of course have the right to say "I told you so" if user screws up! --MGA73 (talk) 12:07, 2 November 2009 (UTC)
The compromised account, a story, nothing more. If you see that he will do good contributions in future you may of course unblock the account, I can only say, that he never made good contributions so far. I not see that he shows understanding of the rules, he only claims his account compromised for some time, not from the beginning. --Martin H. (talk) 12:24, 2 November 2009 (UTC)

Yes, the user is listed with his screenname "Mahir Sayar", I was unaware that people might not find him in the alphabetic sorted list. --Martin H. (talk) 16:17, 2 November 2009 (UTC)

Thank you

Hello Martin H. Just wanted to say thank you for taking care of the Nilderson's case. Best regards, --Dferg (talk) 21:43, 2 November 2009 (UTC)

Hilfe!

Vielen Dank. --Wvk (talk) 15:02, 3 November 2009 (UTC)

So, hab die Category:Firdosis Königsbuch (Schahname) (Rückert) bearbeitet, File:File-Schahname (Rückert) I a001.jpg habe ich auf File:Schahname (Rückert) I a001.jpg verschoben wegen dem zusätzlichen "File-". Allen Seiten habe ich {{BookNaviBar|Schahname (Rückert) I |jpg|001|002}} hinzugefügt.

No you cant, it's marked as for non-commercial use, and Commons accept only "free content" for any use. You may want to ask owner to change licence to (CC-BY) or (CC-BY-SA). And please read carefully Commons:Flickr files --Justass (talk) 17:10, 3 November 2009 (UTC)

Help deleting files again

Hi! This message is related to my last one to you. Those photos are really copied from blogs of entertainers. 2.jpg as copyvio with sources I found today, but I can't find the remaining File:葡萄姐姐3.jpg‎ which is similar to File:葡萄姐姐2.jpg‎ in original source, maybe it was deleted there. Would you please delete them all? Thank you very much.--Wcam (talk) 07:29, 4 November 2009 (UTC)

I already had this images somewhere, they appear, as the whole article w:zh:蝴蝶姐姐 with all its mess of tv appearance, as self-promotion. They need permision info or they will be deleted in seven days. --Martin H. (talk) 10:22, 4 November 2009 (UTC)
Well, I don't quite understand. They have been uploaded without permision info far more than 7 days.--Wcam (talk) 14:55, 4 November 2009 (UTC)

BArch by year

Where did the Category:Images from the German Federal Archive by year" images go to? This was an extremely useful method of sorting these images and I used this method often. 68.144.162.78 13:33, 4 November 2009 (UTC)

This categories where of temporary nature only to help including the 80,000 images to our category system. You have to use the search function now or do your research in the Bundesarchiv Database. --Martin H. (talk) 13:39, 4 November 2009 (UTC)
The wartime captions were very incomplete for many of the 1939-45 photos so searching would be useless. I would strongly recommend leaving the "by date" option open for these photos. You've just reduced the archives from a very useful tool to almost useless for many users.68.144.162.78 13:41, 4 November 2009 (UTC)
Okay, I just looked around in the Commons - I can't even find most of the photos that were uploaded. Why on earth would the "by year" categories be deleted? How is anyone supposed to find these images? Why would you delete these very useful categories?68.144.162.78 13:39, 4 November 2009 (UTC)

You say "you`ve"? I have nothing to do with the removal of this categories, I maybe deleted some empty categories for housekeeping reasons, but nothing more. --Martin H. (talk) 13:46, 4 November 2009 (UTC)

P.s.: I was even the first person here on Commons who complaint about the removal, Commons:Forum/Archiv/2009/July#BArch-Kategorien. "You've just reduced the archives from a very useful tool to almost useless for many users" - I demand an apology! Your complaint targets the wrong person and is, because this categories where of temporary nature, factually wrong. --Martin H. (talk) 13:56, 4 November 2009 (UTC)

Hello Martin, complain about deletion of several images

Hey Martin I noticed that you deleted several images that I've uploaded, you claim that I used the "Flickr washing" procedure, however I didn't, those images are free, shoot unprofessionally with my mobile phones (most of them with an iPhone and a Blackberry). So what can I do to actually proove you, once again, that those photos are free? Eduemoni (talk) 14:49, 4 November 2009 (UTC)

discussion
:I adressed the deletion on your talkpage. With me 2x and User_talk:Eduemoni/1#Your images you where now found 3 times Flickrwashing. You first uploaded the images to Commons, Platonides told you all necessary and warned you not to do so. You tried flickr washing the same images, Platonides stoped this. You did it again, I stopped it, and now you upload the same collection of images again from your flickr account. There is no need to proof something, you should simply stop this copyrigth violations. --Martin H. (talk) 15:04, 4 November 2009 (UTC)
This is funny, no, I didnt upload the same collection of images again, those images are new and taken by me, the other images were taken from GettyImages and shot by someone else and Platonides enlighted me on how upload it correctly, it needs to by my own work, or I need to get the authorization of the author to put those pictures on Commons, I thought that uploading those images on Flickr would easy things up, but I can't get an authorization too fast, because LeToya is a busy artist, I didn't had the intetion to violate copyright, but these new photos are completely free and my own work and I request you to put them back, you have no proof that they aren't free and that I'm violating rules once again because my past actions. Eduemoni (talk) 18:36, 4 November 2009 (UTC)
*sigh* Lets have a look: "your" flickr image - taken from letoyanews.com. your flickr image - same source. Your image - the source (even 2 times larger in size) ... I think you learned nothing, your Flickr account is a random collection of blurry images, even worser, because the images are blurry you realy think I trust you and belive they are yours. --Martin H. (talk) 18:57, 4 November 2009 (UTC)
This fansite LeToyaNews keeps stealing photos from everywhere, including photos I post in LeToya's official forum, if you take your spare time and see carefully you'll noticed that they posted those original photos after me, I posted before them when the Soul Train Awards was happening, btw this site tags the photos and credit them as self work you can't cite them as source, *sigh*, and this photo posted in The Fap Empire blog was shot by me, you need prooves right, it may take sometime and it will be annoying as hell, but I'll show you that I own those photos and lol @ blurred. Eduemoni (talk) 20:31, 4 November 2009 (UTC)
First example. The flickrimage has no watermark but the "original" has. Why is that? Well. If you have the original in higher resolution and with metadata that would be a start. This time uploaded directly to Commons. Maybe if you had some other images from same camera that has not been published on Flickr. Maybe you can take a photo of this discussion so you can proove that you have a camera matching the metadata. --MGA73 (talk) 20:41, 4 November 2009 (UTC)
I do have another picture from same camera that wasn't published on Flickr. From yesterday Eduemoni (talk) 20:49, 4 November 2009 (UTC)
No. Your image name on Flickr is the same name on the website. If they took the image from you they have the filename 4073838344_f4a4889a43_o and not app12020491257293779. So maybe you have another shared resource - I dont know, but the claim that they took your image from flickr is obviously wrong. You may upload some more pictures from the same event taken in the same or similar quality from the same or similar position. You can license them "all rights reserved" on Flickr, so no need to publish them under a free license if you not want this. Then we can talk again. So far your account on flickr is only constructed for flickrwashing since one year, noting else. --Martin H. (talk) 21:02, 4 November 2009 (UTC)
Did you read what I said? I posted the photos early in a LeToya's forum, before posting them into Flickr, I've got a photo of our conversation using the same camera Here it is. Eduemoni (talk) 21:27, 4 November 2009 (UTC)
Images on Flickr is from November 03 and "the originals" is from November 04. The photo of this debate proof that Eduemoni has a camera of that model that took the image. Maybe Eduemoni has had some bad images but it seems to me that there is also some good. Or am I missing somthing? --MGA73 (talk) 22:42, 4 November 2009 (UTC)
He abused the trust here one time and still not cleaned out the false images, they are still on flickr, the flickr account is still a mess of non-free images. So no, evidence of flickrwashing here. Yes, he will get a second chance, but first clean up and upload something, any photograph you made in Atlanta on November 3 maybe. --Martin H. (talk) 23:24, 4 November 2009 (UTC)
Ok I've cleaned the false images out of flickr, I've completely forgot about them, and I didnt upload them here, so can you revert the deletion please? Or may I upload them all once again? Eduemoni (talk) 00:16, 5 November 2009 (UTC)

Im still interested in more images from Atlanta, and im interested in your relation to the Centric TV twitter and why you image is from the dvfab twitter. --Martin H. (talk) 00:34, 5 November 2009 (UTC)

The relation is not between me or Centric TV or The Fab Empire, it is between me and LeToya, it is like a fascination, lol, I'm the official photo collaborator, thus whenever I can and when LeToya calls, I go to events with her to take some unprofessional photos, to antecipate her moves, I went with her to the Radio station and took some photos and the guys over there asked me to use on the post, few days later I put it on Flickr and later I uploaded it here, what about the awards, I was at the event and someone I can't remember who asked me to upload the pictures I was taking to his tweetphoto, I had no objections, just that, I'll upload one more photo from yesterday same camera though. Eduemoni (talk) 00:46, 5 November 2009 (UTC)
The images from centrictv all have this app filenames, you have only two files (app12020491257293779, app12031491257291180) so you copied the images from them (or somewhere else), if you created the images yourself you would not have copied them. And finally you included the image in en.wp using an IP from Brazil ~6 hours after the event... priceless! Nevertheless a nice story with the photo collaborator. Summary: This whole talk is a waste of time, as I said already: you learned nothing. --Martin H. (talk) 01:25, 5 November 2009 (UTC)
You wanted another prove right? Here it is, the wikipedia account is not related directly with this account, it is another guy, this account on Wikimedia is shared, and if I'm not wrong sharing accounts in Commons is not against the rules. Eduemoni (talk) 01:34, 5 November 2009 (UTC)
There is no Wikipedia account but an IP. You uploaded the image and included it in Wikipedia without logging in first. the image on Flickr is nice, a photograph of your monitor? --Martin H. (talk) 01:38, 5 November 2009 (UTC)

So, and now end of discussion. I wasted enough time, this is not a playground. Dont you shame with all the wrong claims? This "discussion" is closed, it becoming a joke more and more. --Martin H. (talk) 01:42, 5 November 2009 (UTC)

This is not a playground, you are giving excuses to not rollback, we are in a deadlock, but at least I'm giving proves, it is not a photo of my monitor, I can take a photo of my monitor, but if you check the exif data you'll see it was shot minutes later the other photos. What else do you want? I'm ready to give you an authorization from LeToya, herself, LeToya has been told what is happening here and she wants to collaborate. Or may I ask help with another Wikimedia admin? I don't wanna a admin war here. Eduemoni (talk) 01:46, 5 November 2009 (UTC)
Even other users saw those photos are in conformance with the rules of commons, aren't you ashamed of yourself? Ain't your admin title being over-used? Will you go out there searching for pictures and stating this or that? I use flickr to upload pictures because it is easy than uploading directly here, I've given anything you wanted, but you don't want to go back, just because you don't want to admit you were wrong, it is really a shame, you have no proves, but only assumptions about my identity. Eduemoni (talk) 01:49, 5 November 2009 (UTC)
I think you already heard of EXIF manipulation, you just did it, great. The images are clearly not created by yourself, so stop this stupid claims, it is not a basis to work here. It is your burdon to prove that images are yours, I show you the correct source and demonstrated, with much effort, im not a magican and can say the source for every image, that you blatantly violated copyright. Not the first time, you have a significant history of copyright violation. --Martin H. (talk) 01:57, 5 November 2009 (UTC)

Martin I'm ready to start a de-admin request against you, so you better be ready. Regards Eduemoni (talk) 02:13, 5 November 2009 (UTC)

Do so, this diff collects most evidences of your wrong claims in one edit. --Martin H. (talk) 02:18, 5 November 2009 (UTC)
LOL @ the diff, there is no huge difference between one version and the other, are you mad???? Eduemoni (talk) 02:28, 5 November 2009 (UTC)
It says enough to determine flickrwashing. --Martin H. (talk)
Flickrwashing, did you personally created this article? Or do you mantain it? To match your actions. Eduemoni (talk) 02:51, 5 November 2009 (UTC)

FYI, there is a discussion about this at COM:AN/U#User:Martin H. Wknight94 talk 11:31, 5 November 2009 (UTC)

Hello Martin, could you revert the deletion please, I'll soon put a {{OTRS pending}} on them, while they approve the e-mail sent by LeToya's camp. =) Stay fine, as well. Eduemoni (talk) 21:52, 10 November 2009 (UTC)

Hi

Hi, File:Li Lisan2.jpg and File:Zheng_Donquo.jpg have source problem, but I am using the same way for all my other uoloads, I do not see any differences between them. Can you point out wha went wrong, so that I can rectify it? Thanks.Arilang Arilang talk 22:30, 5 November 2009 (UTC)

I marked this images during checking Special:NewFiles - the problem here is that the source requirement is not fulfilled (Please provide where the image was first published and who created it) and that the images are to recent to simply assume a publication date and simply assume that they are public domain. See COM:PRP, provide the date and place of first publication. --Martin H. (talk) 22:34, 5 November 2009 (UTC)

Erosionsbilder

Improper deletion

Martin H., you improperly deleted an image of mine (Araxdance.jpg) that had a GFDL-self license. I cannot cite the license because the page has been deleted from Wikimedia Commons but someone made a copy of it [2]. Furthermore you notified the wrong user of the deletion [3]. This is not acceptable behavior. Ketone16 (talk) 14:26, 7 November 2009 (UTC)

The image was uploaded here in a much larger size on month befor it was uploaded by you to en.wp. --Martin H. (talk) 14:29, 7 November 2009 (UTC)
Okay, but what does that have to do with anything? You improperly deleted an image with the proper license. Ketone16 (talk) 14:50, 7 November 2009 (UTC)
Cor.: Not by you, but someone else: en:User:Artaxiad, see the log. I actually dont know why you say it is "your" image. --Martin H. (talk) 14:32, 7 November 2009 (UTC)
I call it my image because I took it with my own camera. Artaxiad, who is a known abuser, took it from my Flickr page. When I found that the image was being used in Wikipedia articles I corrected the attribution. Ketone16 (talk) 14:50, 7 November 2009 (UTC)
I can not guess that your nick here Keaton16 = [....] on Flickr. I found the image on Flickr, I found that the image is not corretly sourced and that Ataxiad is a known abuser, I found that there is no evidence of permission from the flickr user but that the image is licensed there "All rights reserved". Images published somewhere else need written permission from the copyright holder, an image without evidence of permission or uploaded here under false copyright claims can get deleted at any time per copyright violation. You may change the licensing on Flickr to cc-by or cc-by-sa or you may sent me a flickr email from your flickr account [....] confirming that you, the copyright holder of this work, release a 500px version of the image into the public domain (that was the selected license). My Flickr account is http://www.flickr.com/photos/29297742@N04/. --Martin H. (talk) 15:01, 7 November 2009 (UTC)
I think the proper procedure, if there was any question of the provenance of the photo, would have been to leave a message on my user page since I was listed as the author in the GFDL license. I see that you challenge an extremely high volume of photos and perhaps the quality of your work suffers. Ketone16 (talk) 15:15, 7 November 2009 (UTC)
The procedure was absolutely ok. I informed the uploader, I normaly forward this information to the en.wp uploader but was unable to inform him as his talk is prtected on en.wp. If you have a copyright inquiry or claim it is not a good way to simply change the information to "source=Flickr" and a Commons nickname, thats a bit vague. We can follow the regular permission procedure for images already published elsewhere, I described it above (mail on Flickr, change of license or any other comment on Flickr - additional COM:OTRS), or the image will not be restored. --Martin H. (talk) 15:21, 7 November 2009 (UTC)
Just because you say the procedure was "OK" doesn't mean it was okay. If you could not inform the uploader then you should have informed the actual author. The notes in the GFDL license and history page explained clearly what had happened. You did not attend to detail here. Ketone16 (talk) 15:26, 7 November 2009 (UTC)
The last licensing was PD-self (public domain, all rights released), not GFDL.
The image was tagged as "missing source" for 1 month. The given source was "Flickr" - Our policy requires to inform the uploader, that was done.
The history not brings any evidence that the "Flickr", that was the source (and "Flickr" explains nothing), was http://www.flickr.com/photos/jurban16/347143938/ - I found the image there after I researched it myself and deleted it following the interest of the copyright holder: "All rights reserved, to not reuse this image". I deleted it NOT as missing source but as a copyright violation by uploader, Along with some other Artaxiad images I remember.
Again: You may follow the requirements - the image was published somewhere else under a different copyright claim - or the image will stay deleted. You may also upload the image as own work here, thats your choice, but please make sure to follow the OTRS process described in the upload form for images published somewhere else. --Martin H. (talk) 15:40, 7 November 2009 (UTC)
I agree that informing the person mentioned as author could have been a good idea. But that did not happen and we can't change that. Ketone16 could you make some note on Flickr so we can see that you controll both accounts? Then we could undelete the image and you could fix the license and information to be as you like it to be? --MGA73 (talk) 13:51, 8 November 2009 (UTC)

File:Annelinn_2007_1.jpg

How can I restore File:Annelinn 2007 1.jpg (deleted from Commons as no source), because most likely it was created by the uploader like this other image: http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Annelinn_2007.jpg --WikedKentaur (talk) 07:30, 8 November 2009 (UTC)

Isn't there a prewarning system for images used in et.wikipedia, that will be deleted (like CommonsTicker was)? --WikedKentaur (talk) 07:32, 8 November 2009 (UTC)

I dont know CommonsTicker. A warnings system for what? The image was based on a satellite image or aerial photography that was not created by the uploader. The only way was to find out the correct copyright holder - with the uploaders help - and to ask for written permission. --Martin H. (talk) 10:13, 8 November 2009 (UTC)

HendrixEesti has uploaded series of pictures about boroughs of Tartu city, Estonia. Such as File:Ihaste 2007.JPG, File:Jaamanõisa 2007.JPG et cetera. All they have source "http://www.maaamet.ee" and license "Attribution|Estonia Land Board (http://www.maaamet.ee)". Maybe he simple forgot to add something important for File:Annelinn_2007_1.jpg? Source - http://www.maaamet.ee ? License? If this is possible, please restore this picture. --Rünno (talk) 15:45, 8 November 2009 (UTC)
O.O - where does that website say, that you can reuse their content freely? Yes, you can use the data freely, thats everything listed below the download section. But the rest needs written permission: "File based use and ordering of digital map data is regulated by decree of Ministry of Environment (in Estonian)". see http://www.maaamet.ee/index.php?lang_id=2&page_id=512&menu_id=89. Also the offered licenses are neither for everyone, so you can not upload images from there here under the claim that everyone can reuse them, nor the offered licenses are perpetual. Both is required here. That more seems to be a case for mass deletion request, not undeletion. Furthermore, if you want to request undeletion, you should do so on COM:UNDEL, not here. --Martin H. (talk) 23:28, 8 November 2009 (UTC)
Wait a minute, please. I have consulted with Estonian Land Board, and they claimed, that digital images via WEB services are public, if they are properly attributed. The problem is that, they have not in the web page of Estonian Land Board such sentence. They are dealing with this problem. --Rünno (talk) 10:03, 9 November 2009 (UTC)
Here is about of public services of Estonian Land Board. But in estonian. Somehow about of this in english [4]--Rünno (talk) 19:23, 11 November 2009 (UTC)
We talk about the work named "Orthophotos" here. Of course they are public, everyone can see them and use the data on their website for free. But where did it say that everyone can reuse them for every purpose - not only educational or internal purposes but also commercial purposes? The flash application only says "All rights reserved". http://www.maaamet.ee/index.php?lang_id=2&page_id=512&menu_id=89 says: Estonian Land Board digital map data can be used free of charge via public web map application called X-GIS or via WMS standard (supported by majority of GIS software). File based use and ordering of digital map data is regulated by decree of Ministry of Environment (in Estonian).
used free of charge via public web map application is free beer on their website, but it has nothing to do with freedom required here. --Martin H. (talk) 19:44, 11 November 2009 (UTC)
p.s. We are talking about images like that ones listed at User:HendrixEesti/gallery#Sun_Jul_20_11:03:58_EEST_2008. --Martin H. (talk) 19:53, 11 November 2009 (UTC)

Naming conventions for scientific and common names in File names

Dear Martin,

I noticed that you changed the file name of one of my entries from

Virgularia (Banded sea pen) with Porcellanella picta (Procelain crab) fliter feeding on top to

Virgularia sea pen with Porcellanella picta porcelain crab filter feeding on top

Not having found guidance on how to use both scientific and common names in a file name, I adopted Lycaon's file name protocol.

As I am getting ready to upload a good number of new images, I would like to know whether I should stop using the (parentheses) around the common name in my file names or not. Thanks. -Nhobgood (talk) 12:54, 8 November 2009 (UTC)

I renamed the file on request. Please ask the editor who requested the rename for more information. --Martin H. (talk) 23:30, 8 November 2009 (UTC)
Thanks Martin. Any hints on where I can get information on the best way to name images with scientific and common names ? Cheers. Nick - Nhobgood (talk) 12:40, 11 November 2009 (UTC)
No good help pages found here :/ Reviewing the rename I would say that your initial naming was good and the rename was not really covered by Commons:File renaming. Hope you not mind the rename action, keep your good filenames. --Martin H. (talk) 01:14, 12 November 2009 (UTC)

User:RuNNer 20

Hallo Martin

--Martin H. (talk) 12:36, 11 November 2009 (UTC)
Ok, danke! Amalthea (talk) 13:07, 13 November 2009 (UTC)

Rolling Stones images

Hello Martin. Can I upload this image (http://www.rollingstone.com/artists/venom) or this (http://www.rollingstone.com/artists/celticfrost) with this terms (http://www.rollingstone.com/termsofuse) ??--Progenie of the great apocalypse2 (talk) 19:32, 9 November 2009 (UTC)

Clearly NO. The termsofuse say:
"The information, artwork, text, video, audio, or photographs (collectively, "Materials") contained on the RollingStone.com Web site are protected by copyright and international laws. You may only access and use the Materials for personal or educational purposes."
If you will finally read Commons:First steps you will learn, that Commons only accepts free content, free content is free for EVERY purpose including commercial use and not only "personal and educational purposes". --Martin H. (talk) 19:37, 9 November 2009 (UTC)

Advise

Hi, want your advise :) I started to upload some PD-art painting with some nice resolution, and many of them already exist on commons, but with low resolution or at least half size of my uploads. Question is should I upload over existing images new with better resolution or uploads as new image. Problem is that because of light, use of flash and so on some colours differ on images, as example File:Raphael - Madonna dell Granduca.jpg and [5] same painting but slightly different colours. --Justass (talk) 15:38, 10 November 2009 (UTC)

The example looks very different, better upload it under different filename. --Martin H. (talk) 15:40, 10 November 2009 (UTC)

Hi Martin, I have suspects about the following images uploaded by Cazadoroculto:

How can I do this.....

Hello Martin, my question for you is this: my friend uploaded a ton of image files for me from my computer. Thing is he uploaded to many now that I have seen them all. I would like to down size and only keep the few quality good ones and delete the others. Quality over quantity. Message me back at your earliest convenience with the "how to" so these quick deletions of my choice can be made. Thank You for your valuable time,

Jaderocker (talk) 14:44, 14 November 2009 (UTC)

Thats a more complex topic, the Commons:Deletion policy is helpful here, see case 5 there. --Martin H. (talk) 14:59, 14 November 2009 (UTC)

just looked at it, not sure? can I just place a tag on the ones that need to be deleted or where you are an editor can you do them if i tell you which ones?

Jaderocker (talk) 15:09, 14 November 2009 (UTC)

Please read and follow the instructions in Commons:Deletion_policy#Redundant.2Fbad_quality. I always like to help but thats really not my business. --Martin H. (talk) 15:12, 14 November 2009 (UTC)

Thanks Martin, I just looked at it but since I never upload or do any of my own stuff it is like another language to me. I'm not the computer guy by any means, ha ha ha! I know above you said it's not your business, but feel free to help me. I would very much appreciate it. Would it be easiest for you to let me give you a list of the ONES I WANT TO KEEP since they are fewer and you can just delete all the rest. Just want some of these others gone, they are horrible. Just need your help my friend on this!

Jaderocker (talk) 15:18, 14 November 2009 (UTC)

Is this something you can help me take care of buddy?

Jaderocker (talk) 16:07, 14 November 2009 (UTC)

No, I linked the deletion policy, it says that redundant or low quality files only get deleted on a case by case basis after they are listed [...]. Deleting superseded or low quality images is a community decision and I cant surround this policy. --Martin H. (talk) 16:11, 14 November 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for your time & have a great weekend!

Jaderocker (talk) 16:22, 14 November 2009 (UTC)

Sorry Martin, just looked over the deletion process, looks like numerous steps that are really detailed. Confused with all the steps, is their a unified version. Is pasting the template with image names and reason ok and some way to accomplish the extras all at once? I know there will be something left out at this point. Sorry again, he just uploaded way to many lousy low grade pics. Just horrible! If I put the template with image names that need to be deleted on my talk page could you give me some simplified diredctions? Sorry again Martin!

Jaderocker (talk) 16:41, 14 November 2009 (UTC)

Their is a button to request deletion in the toolbox on the left side. Unlock your popup blocker befor using it. --Martin H. (talk) 16:58, 14 November 2009 (UTC)

I almost want to call it a day buddy, when it rains, it pours! I have every button on the left side toolbox but that one and my pop up blocker is off. Unreal one has to go through this to correct an issue which is something as simple as they don't want some cheap lame photos of themselves on such a global level

Jaderocker (talk) 17:19, 14 November 2009 (UTC)

Lastly Martin, if I paste some of the unwanted photos into the template where should I copy/paste them. Leave it on my talk page or where? Thanks so much!

Jaderocker (talk) 18:07, 14 November 2009 (UTC)

I cant follow you. If you want to nominate an image for deletion please follow the deletion guidlines. Add {{delete|reason=reason why this image should be deleted}} and follow the instrcuctions inside the red box: Created the deletion request subpage with c&p, add the deletion request to the deletion log. --Martin H. (talk) 18:10, 14 November 2009 (UTC)

Hello Martin, the image files that we talked about earlier have been properly submitted for deletion. Look under the deletion log for November 14, 2009......

Commons:Deletion requests/2009/11/14

You can read the reason why these image files NEED to be deleted on that page or on the new deletion page created......

Category:Deletion requests/Images of John Quinlan (wrestler)

Thank you for responding to me in a prompt and professional manner. I know this mishap will be properly and ethically corrected.

Thank you so much,

Jaderocker (talk) 00:54, 15 November 2009 (UTC)

Not bad, seems ok. I moved the deletion request from the log to a subpage Commons:Deletion requests/Images of Category John Quinlan (wrestler). That subpage is listed at the log, Commons:Deletion requests/2009/11/14, all discussion takes place at the subpage. --Martin H. (talk) 13:25, 15 November 2009 (UTC)

Hey man! Thanks! Just for your info, this is the real JQ talkin' to ya right now, not somebody logged into my account as me. I changed my password to keep all the untrust worthy out. So by doing what you just did, which I really want to say thank you again about, this will get all those garbage photos and ones I never approved out of my gallery that is linked to Wikipedia? Man, I saw all those messages sent to ya on I think like Ocober 15th, that wasn't me. Unreal! Just want this fixed, damn, I am happy with just a few quality photos in there! I never would have put all that crap in there. Message me back, and when this is cleared up I'm just gonna kick back and watch some football! Thanks Mr. Martin

Jaderocker (talk) 13:38, 15 November 2009 (UTC)

Just wondering what the time table will be for these images marked for deletion to be deleted. What do you think it is?

Jaderocker (talk) 15:50, 16 November 2009 (UTC)

~7 days, may be longer. --Martin H. (talk) 15:52, 16 November 2009 (UTC)

Thank you Martin for your insight, I truly look forward to these images being deleted!

Jaderocker (talk) 18:11, 16 November 2009 (UTC)

I've sent two permissions to OTRS

Hello Martin! I've found a way to send the emails I receive via Flickr and I've sent two permissions to OTRS, please verify them. Please wait for the other ones since people don't answer me immediately and I don't have a lot of time to spend here. --Ycco (talk) 10:54, 15 November 2009 (UTC)

Your emails will be handles by an OTRS volunteer. As soon as you get the OTRS number you may ask for speedydeletion of the screenshots with {{speedydelete|not longer required here, permission is logged in OTRS under #12345678}} --Martin H. (talk) 13:27, 15 November 2009 (UTC)

Atentamente --Varpaijos (talk) 18:13, 16 November 2009 (UTC)

GPL screenshots

Hi, I need precise input, if you're able to help... Who says that the output (screenshot) of a GPL program is automatically licensed under GPL? I'm really not so sure about that. --Eusebius (talk) 22:51, 17 November 2009 (UTC)

How about shot blocking of this user, cos I am really tired to fight with him over your deletion request notice [7] --Justass (talk) 01:00, 20 November 2009 (UTC)

As long as the deletion request subpage is created and logged the removal of deletion request notices is simply stupid and useless. Will give him a one day rest. However, I suspect some socking with this user. --Martin H. (talk) 01:06, 20 November 2009 (UTC)
Thanks for keeping an eye on him. As you have found out already by now, that's an account of User:Kay Körner, indef banned from Commons, EN and DE. I see him turning up under new accounts or as IP user every few weeks. Looks like it's time to close that account, no need to waste time and AGF on this. User:32X or User:Polarlys know him very well, too, just in case you want some more confirmation that it's him. Well, that's what he claims in the picture descriptions anyways... Regards, --X-Weinzar (talk) 03:03, 20 November 2009 (UTC)
--X-Weinzar (talk) 04:14, 20 November 2009 (UTC)

Renaming

Hi Martin,

Thank you for renaming the pictures of Ringelstein. There should definitely be some special authorizations of renaming for the picture uploader to avoid worrying admins with such lapsus-based errors. --Pethrus (talk) 13:23, 20 November 2009 (UTC)

It seems that i accidentally reverted to the first version, after you´ve done that, as i forgot to purge the file history. My apologies, and i ask if you could delete my edition so not to clogge the file history. Sorry for the inconvenience and thank you. Tm (talk) 16:10, 20 November 2009 (UTC)

Hello Martin, we just discovered that Fredy.00 has created another sock-puppet account. I believe it will need some counter-measures to prevent him from constant violating copyrights. Best regards, --Mercy (talk) 22:10, 21 November 2009 (UTC)

I already suspected this with File:Štefan Füle.jpg, thanks @User:Harold for the copyright violation evidence. --Martin H. (talk) 22:12, 21 November 2009 (UTC)
Ok, found enough evidence. Technically found also 3 other sockpuppets, 2 of them already blocked on cs wiki. --Martin H. (talk) 22:37, 21 November 2009 (UTC)

You accidentially nominated the page (gallery) Danilomiedi.jpg for deletion, not the File:Danilomiedi.jpg. I will delete both, the file and the accidentially created page, and fix the deletion request. --Martin H. (talk) 08:54, 23 November 2009 (UTC)

OS

Hi Martin. As you are quite active, I was wondering if you wouldn't want to become an OS. The three current ones are mostly inactive and I think it's something that should be done by more active users. It's a fairly trivial, but important function. As checkuser, you already completed the main requirement. Besides, you don't have too many other hats either. I can't exactly explain myself the drama the two recent candidates had to go through, but it's obviously something I would want to spare you. It's a wiki, so it can't be excluded. Take your time to think about it. You might want to make your candidature yourself, otherwise I can nominate you or someone else might want to do so. -- User:Docu at 10:56, 26 November 2009 (UTC)

No, at the moment Im quite happy with the work I do and dont want to volunteer for that. --Martin H. (talk) 11:48, 26 November 2009 (UTC)
I understand. I don't think there is that much to do and it wouldn't really oblige you to do so. Besides, apparently one doesn't even need to be active any more for other functions ;) -- User:Docu at 12:25, 26 November 2009 (UTC)

--Gelpgim22 (talk) 20:12, 26 November 2009 (UTC)

Cicling

Hello, excuse for my english. Can you cut the follow pictures, the same that you did with this File:Nacor Brugos.jpg?

Michael Minsky

Why you took our photograph of Michael Minsky away? The photo is from a family photobook from 1954, so nothing wrong! 94.215.61.61 08:25, 27 November 2009 (UTC)

See User_talk:Nicostam#Please stop re-uploading of the same file. --Martin H. (talk) 09:39, 27 November 2009 (UTC)

Danke für die Hilfe

bei den Politikern. Tschüß --Ra Boe (talk) 13:02, 27 November 2009 (UTC)

Ich bin ganz begeistert von dem Projekt. --Martin H. (talk) 13:31, 27 November 2009 (UTC)
Mal sehen was als nächstes kommt. ;-)

Loosing categories on upload

Hi Martin,

There is a technical issue when selecting a category for an uploaded image. A category selected from the list is dropped when an image is uploaded. I suspect that the selection list is not properly filtered and contains CommonsRoot, or parent categories. Currently, I transfer images from Wikisource using the Transfer a work from another Wikimedia project form, but this has happened with other types of transfer forms. — Ineuw (talk) 14:19, 27 November 2009 (UTC)

Dummy question: Did you click on “OK” after having typed the category name? :-) --Leyo 14:26, 27 November 2009 (UTC)
Hi Leyo, a fair question. Yes, I did. I transfer a number of images, and at times, I do forget to select a category, but I have a dread of bot generated "forgot the category again" emails :-). To double check, I studied the Categories and the list and there are categories in the upload selection not to be posted to. If I knew to whom, or where, to post a possible bug report (and there are many), I would suggest that the Preview should also check the category. Ineuw (talk) 13:48, 28 November 2009 (UTC)
I missed this question here, sorry. However, thats an technical(?) issue, I cant help you. The same problem was raised on the COM:HD several times. --Martin H. (talk) 14:24, 28 November 2009 (UTC)
Thanks Martin, Just please drop it, as I am sure that it's on a list of prioritized corrections and it will eventually be dealt with. My main concern was that I constantly miss something. — Ineuw (talk) 16:51, 28 November 2009 (UTC)
Please try first refreshing your browser's cache. We had an error like this in one of our scripts, but that's been fixed on 2009-10-25. However, I'd still like to be sure that your browser does have the current scripts. If that doesn't cure the problem, please notify me on my talk page the next time this happens to you. Be prepared to tell me:
  • What OS and browser (including version) you use
  • Which upload form you used (the one with many fields, or the one with the single "description" field)
  • Which file it was.
  • Which categories you input where (in which field, or in the category bar)
  • Whether you used preview or not.
  • Anything else you might consider useful.
I'll try to hunt it down then. Lupo 22:03, 28 November 2009 (UTC)

category Members of Landtag of Lower Saxony

Boah, was bist du schnell.

:-)) --Martina Nolte (talk) 16:36, 27 November 2009 (UTC)

Sorry!!

I thought I could load these photos, Sorry it. Pollye (talk) 22:32, 27 November 2009 (UTC)

i accidently uploaded the pic in the masturbation section. Please delete the pic i uploaded.

I alredy did. Do not overwrite images and please open an account on any penis comparison website elsewhere on the web if the only purpose is to upload images of your penis... --Martin H. (talk) 04:09, 28 November 2009 (UTC)

nix schief

Hallo.

--Martin H. (talk) 08:14, 28 November 2009 (UTC)

"Schleichende Überfütterung mit durchgekauten Threads" :-), -jkb- (talk) 08:32, 28 November 2009 (UTC)

Guten Morgen Martin, schon so früh wieder aktiv ;-). Was meinst du dazu?

ME 78.55.246.246

Michael Minsky

Was zu tun? 94.215.61.61 08:33, 2 December 2009 (UTC)

(english: the copyright holder must give written permission that everyone can reuse the image for every purpose including commercial purposes. No fair use on Commons. The image was uploaded several times now with changing information regarding source and author, therefore I cant assume that a written permission was obtained furthermore I dont think that the correct source and author information was ever researched correctly by you.) --Martin H.
