Bagh-e Melli[edit]

That's a real pity you deleted this picture. What was the risk of keeping that picture of an historical landmark ? I know it is now the Foreign affairs ministry, and thus pictures are prohibited, but the door dates back to the Qajar era, and it is one of the few of its kind still standing in Tehran.... Sadly i had to delete this file as i have delete some other images from that place in different wikis plus commons .as you know because of Foreign affairs ministry no one is allowed to take photos from there.Though i deeply respect your work and precious images on commons but we have to remove this image .if i let this be other user in fawiki and other place will whine why did i delete their images .so again i do apologize for deleting the image but i hope you understand we have to respect the policies of local places for photography --Mardetanha talk 12:28, 11 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Well,I didn't take the picture,just uploaded it on commons from en. Respecting local policies is strange because it's not a matter of copyright, but a matter of national security. Neda Agha-Soltan grave site photo was not a copyright violation[edit]

Hello. Did you read the talk page? This is a different photo from the BBC one. People must have visited the grave site, and the uploader said they took the photo. The uploader also wrote a description in the Persion language. The photo was being used on this article page: en:Neda Agha-Soltan. See this version of the article:

Can you give me a direct link to the photo elsewhere? More than one person may have taken photos of the grave site. Are any of the photos you found elsewhere exactly the same as the photo you deleted?
If so, what claims are made for sourcing and author? Maybe they got the photo from here on the Commons.

Jastrow and I are working on autotranslating {{Meta information museum}}, the meta-template we use for many museums, like {{Information Louvre}}. Could you please help us find Farsi translations for every tag name: 

   * artist/maker
   * description
   * dimensions
   * credit line
   * accession number
   * location
   * source/photographer
   * references
   * other versions

"Credit line" is mainly about the mode of acquisition: what collection does it come from? Did it join the collections by gift, purchase, on loan, etc.?

Farsi admin needed[edit]

Hi, would you care to have a look at Amirreza's uploads that I have tagged recently? I'm sure they are good faith uploads, but info is missing, images are tagged PD-Iran but nothing shows that they were first published in Iran more than 30 years ago. Since the source websites appear to be in Farsi (or maybe in Arabic), and since the user begins adding statements in Farsi to address my problem tags, I guess it would be better if you could have a look at them and decide what's OK and what is not... Commonist licenses[edit]

Dear Mardetanha,

As you might know Wikimedia is currently migrating from the GFDL to cc-by-sa-3.0. Wikimedia Commons is also migrating and we're down to less than 8000 files (started with about 1,8M files) . Unfortunatly this number keeps growing because Commonist contains outdated license templates. You appear to be running Commonist, could you please change the following lines in your license.txt?

{{self2|GFDL|cc-by-sa-2.5,2.0,1.0}} should be changed to {{Self|GFDL|Cc-by-sa-3.0,2.5,2.0,1.0}}
{{self2|GFDL|cc-by-2.5}} should be changed to {{self|GFDL|cc-by-3.0}}

Please bear with me instead of acting rashly. First of all, there is only one image. So saying "images" seems to indicate that you don't know what you are talking about. Please apologize for your inaccurate depiction of what is at issue. Second, I know of only one place where this one image appears: the www.kaloskaisophos.org website I maintain for my wife, the Paris-based dancer-choreographer Clara Gibson Maxwell, who appears in the picture along with my late friend, the philosopher Cornelius Castoriadis. Where else have you found this one image? Please be specific or retract your statement about multiple appearances and apologize. Third, the picture is up there because I myself perssonally scanned my own snapshot photo. So I don't know what you mean about copyright status. Please be more specific or withdraw your objection and restore the image forthwith. I admit that I'm no computer whiz and this was the first time I uploaded a photo of mine to Wikimedia Commons. In good faith, I have replied to the person who asked for more category information. Why not try to work with people rather than taking arbitrary action on the basis of inaccurate information? Finally, please tell me who, if anyone, is claiming to be the author of this one photo. I'd like to know who has made this surprising claim just a few hours after I uploaded this snapshot. Restoring an image[edit]

Hi, you deleted File:Bmk.JPG, but there is evidence that this was released by the author into the public domain. I can still see the data on the telugu wikipedia at MBMK01.jpg and the same user released another image from the same time into the public domain.
