Deletion of Fred Trump images

Regarding the two deleted images, can you explain why you believe the Brooklyn Eagle paper renewed its copyright of past works? I see no evidence of this. UpdateNerd (talk) 23:13, 8 August 2020 (UTC)

It's right here: http://onlinebooks.library.upenn.edu/cce/firstperiod.html. Magog the Ogre (talk) (contribs) 02:04, 9 August 2020 (UTC)
@Magog the Ogre: I believe you are in error; that link is just a list of all renewals. The entry for the Brooklyn Eagle says "no issue renewals found in CCE or registered works database" and "First renewed contribution in January 6, 1933; see 1961 January-June". (The images you deleted are from 1940 & 1950.) The link of periodicals renewed from January-June 1961 has no entry for the Brooklyn Eagle. UpdateNerd (talk) 06:13, 9 August 2020 (UTC)
I will open a discussion shortly. That will be more fruitful. Magog the Ogre (talk) (contribs) 16:30, 9 August 2020 (UTC)
Please do so at your earliest convenience as I believe the removals were unjustified. Note that a number of international wikis are affected by the sudden removal of files. UpdateNerd (talk) 23:43, 9 August 2020 (UTC)
@@UpdateNerd: upon further thought, please take the issue to Commons:Undeletion requests. I showed a clear source indicating the issues were renewed starting in 1933. You countered that by pointing only to a single page in the renewal log. You'll have to provide a better explanation than that. Magog the Ogre (talk) (contribs) 01:00, 10 August 2020 (UTC)
OK, this appears to be a simple misunderstanding. The images were published in 1940 and 1950. That means they were clearly published after the 1933 renewal, and barring the discovery of new information, were not subsequently renewed. I will happily file an undeletion request to resolve all this. UpdateNerd (talk) 01:08, 10 August 2020 (UTC)
OK, I've changed my mind. Sorry I am in a bad mood. Actually it looks like you've already handled it. But I do plan to file for a deletion request still. Magog the Ogre (talk) (contribs) 01:34, 10 August 2020 (UTC)

Why Category:PD-ROC-Traffic Markings there? Being a CheckUser and an administrator would have to be a good model obeying Commons:Categories#Find_an_appropriate_category being an official policy. In the interest to avoid edit wars, I have provisionally redirected Category:PD-ROC-Presidential Office Gazette to Category:PD-ROC-Traffic Markings just to negatively tolerate, not to positively agree, your thought. Better reconsider how your bot may work.--Jusjih (talk) 01:21, 10 August 2020 (UTC)

@Jusjih: Correct. The bot uses the categories. It may not be ideal, and I might not do it the same if I had to go back, but I built the bot understanding that we hold hidden categories for all license templates. Magog the Ogre (talk) (contribs) 01:36, 10 August 2020 (UTC)
Then what would happen if redirecting Category:PD-ROC-Traffic Markings to Category:PD-ROC-Presidential Office Gazette? Maybe it will still work for your bot? What is the name of your bot?--Jusjih (talk) 02:16, 11 August 2020 (UTC)
@Jusjih: those are for two different templates. If you want them to have a shared category, it might be better to group them under a more neutral name like the already-existent Category:PD-ROC-exempt. Magog the Ogre (talk) (contribs) 23:56, 12 August 2020 (UTC)

JPMorgan Chase Updated Footprint

Just wondering if we can update the Chase map because they have expanded into many other markets than the map is showing.

I'd be interested in learning how to create and update it as well. — Preceding unsigned comment was added by 192.195.66.4 (talk) 01:55, September 15, 2020‎ (UTC)

I've uploaded an update here: File:JPMorgan Chase footprint 2020-09.svg.
To create it, I typed JPMorgan into FDIC bank find. I found they are operating under two FDIC numbers: 628 and 21761. I typed those numbers into toollabs:magog/branchmapper/start.php, and it came up with 4944 points. Magog the Ogre (talk) (contribs) 00:04, 25 September 2020 (UTC)

Ogre Bot 2 and exported images

Hi, your Ogre Bot 2 is going to fix the images that are uploaded to commons as new but not those that are exported from other wikis, would it be possible to get it through those too? Example on this has passed but on this no. Thank you --ZioNicco (talk) 08:09, 25 September 2020 (UTC)

Deletion closure

Hi,

In a DR closure earlier today, where a contributor called me a "nutcase" with a "a stick up his ass", you formally highlighted me as being "hard to work with". I was surprised to read this, considering I avoided the inflammatory comments that were personal attacks, instead sticking to civil replies about policy and copyright.

Could you provide me some feedback on what was wrong with my behaviour and responses in this deletion request? If I am failing civility standards in your view, I would like to do better. Thanks -- (talk) 15:53, 27 September 2020 (UTC)

@: well you nominated for deletion rather than doing researching and fixing it like I did.
This is not the attitude of someone who wants to keep valuable free images around which are in high usage; it is the attitude of someone looking for an excuse to delete something. It harasses longtime editors over technicalities, drives away valuable contributors, and results in many unnecessary deletions.
I am responding quite bluntly since you asked. You can catch more flies with honey than with vinegar. Magog the Ogre (talk) (contribs) 17:06, 27 September 2020 (UTC)
How did you go about finding a source?
The research I did before tagging the file as a derived work, was using Google Images which is pretty good at throwing up similiar maps, and Bing via ImgOps, which has an easy interface to match partial crops to parent images. Google also has the benefit of being able to constrain with matches within Commons, and being able to find matches filtered by dates earlier than the upload here. These are fairly quick ways of researching, and often highlight copyvios very quickly, even for early uploads. Though one can surf categories, these are actually far more unpredictable and time-consuming for turning up matches, compared to an external image search or tagging a file and letting interested members of the community take a look.
In this case being reverted as an 'idiot' was not encouraging to attempt a more positive discussion, one can be civil without being obliged to be a masochist. -- (talk) 17:15, 27 September 2020 (UTC)
@: Google won't do very well for finding cropped blank maps. It can only do full maps or cropped images. I don't write the algorithm, I've just observed it.
In any case, I typed Sea of Japan into the search. I found Category:Maps of the Sea of Japan, and this was one of the images.
I suppose sometimes I forget that other regulars aren't as permanently online as I am. I can recognize a self-drawn map from a Commons' derived one very quickly. I can also find the original quickly and assumed (presumably incorrectly) you could as well. Magog the Ogre (talk) (contribs) 23:24, 29 September 2020 (UTC)

About the user that upload images from https://kakijun.jp/

You left a warning on the user talk of this user: Mikamoto~ruwiki, and I am agree with that warning. I just wanted to let you know that, that all the .gif files that this user upload come from https://kakijun.jp/, in his English version it says below this "Copyright © 2002 - 2020 kakijun All rights reserved.". So I think their images may indeed violate copyright.
I would like to nominate all his images to deletion, because in addition to that, there is the Stroke Order Project, and his images do not fit in the project.
It is not my intention to be a harasser, because of that I will left him a message, about this situation. As he seems to be Russian I will leave it that message on Russian and English. FanNihongo (talk) 21:56, 6 October 2020 (UTC)

@Magog the Ogre: I've been doing research, at first I was not sure if it was a copyright violation, but now I am completely sure: On this link is the page that talks about the copyright of those images uploaded by Mikamoto~ruwiki. It is in Japanese, I used google translate to undestand it, here is the first paragraph translated. It says that "All copyrights of the contents (images, sentences, html, scripts, etc.) contained in this homepage belong to this site and kakijun...". FanNihongo (talk) 23:08, 6 October 2020 (UTC)

@Magog the Ogre: He didn't answer, I don't know what to do, I left him a message to solve this the better possible(discussing). For now I will start nominating his files for deletion. FanNihongo (talk) 03:56, 9 October 2020 (UTC)

@معتز الوحيشي: Ahmad252 explained that here: Commons:Deletion requests/File:Second Ww2 1941-ar.png. {{GFDL or cc-by-nc-sa-2.0}}, it says Effective 15 October 2018 this is no longer an option for media like photos and video. New uploads by Footlessmouse

Hi, I was wondering if you could look over my new uploads related to E. T. Whittaker. All of them are found in the new category I created for him Category:E. T. Whittaker. In particular, the two book covers may not have been appropriate and I am wondering if they need to be deleted. They are digital rather than photographs of the books, which I think is the problem, but I thought it was alright when I uploaded it as I have seen that in book covers. There is also the colloquium photo, which I am 90% sure I did correctly, but also need to make sure. Anyways, I wish to use these in various articles that I am trying to promote to Good Article status on Wikipedia and need to make sure the licenses are correct, and you seem to know the licensing pretty well. Thank you for your help. Footlessmouse (talk) 21:05, 28 October 2020 (UTC)

@Footlessmouse: good morning. Most of your uploads look good, but the background on the two modern book covers is sufficiently creative to garner copyright protection: File:A History of the Theories of Aether and Electricity 2nd ed combined cover.jpg, File:Course of Modern Analysis Dover Books third edition reprint cover.jpg. You may be able to use them on English Wikipedia under fair use depending on how you plan to use them. There is a good set of instructions at the bottom of this page: w:Template:Book rationale. Bug

Hi, I don't know why the bot believed it should do this. (France is not in the United States, the 16th and 19th centuries are not between 1925 and 1963, and the status tag for the photo must remain.) I reverted this occurrence, but if the bot has been doing the same thing elsewhere, it should be reverted there also. -- Asclepias (talk) 17:14, 30 October 2020 (UTC)

Daily gallery updater has failed on User:FredD/Echinoderm news

Hello, I just received this message. My gallery feed is about echinoderms, an important group of sea invertebrates. It seems that there is a Spongebob movie going on, and pictures of the vocal cast have swarmed the gallery due to category updates. Images of persons from Societies in which they take part

Hi Magog the Ogre, I was hoping to bug you just once more on your advice for finding a photo for Richard Rothstein. The Economic Policy Institute hosts a picture of him with a button for higher resolution, no blocks on downloading, and no disclaimers for use (and indeed, the same image appears on many other websites). Can it then be uploaded to Commons so we can use it in Wikipedia articles? Thanks for your assistance! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Footlessmouse (talk • contribs) 09:08, 14 November 2020‎ (UTC)

(talk page stalker) @Footlessmouse: there is a copyright notice at the foot of the profile page, and no indication the photo is under a free licence. (Lack of notice used to be a thing in the USA, but is irrelevant to most copyright laws nowadays; we assume everything is protected by copyright and non-free unless there is positive evidence to the contrary.) The image itself has no EXIF data either. I suggest you contact the organization to see if they (or the photographer) can license it for free use and are willing to do so. As for the “many other websites”, lots of people copy stuff without permission—or perhaps with permission but for only that specific use—so this has no bearing on the copyright status.—Odysseus1479 (talk) 19:50, 14 November 2020 (UTC)
@Footlessmouse: Odysseus is correct. Under modern copyright law, eligible works are automatically protected. However, I have found non-profits are often willing to work with volunteers who send a polite email. Here is a boilerplate with instructions and the relevant legalese: Commons:Email templates. Magog the Ogre (talk) (contribs) 01:21, 16 November 2020 (UTC)
Thank you both! After reading the first message, I ended up finding a video that was CC and already on commons, so I just extracted a still from that and it is now used as Rothstein's picture. The next time I come upon this situation, I will use the boilerplate to ask for permission. (Which I still might do now, as the video frame is not the best picture of him) Thanks again. Footlessmouse (talk) 01:28, 16 November 2020 (UTC)

Emilio Segrè Visual Archives (More than 30,000 photos of scientists and their work)

Hi Magog the Ogre! I am sorry to bug you once more, but this time it is not about copyright or anything. This great archive is moving to adopt open access starting in January. The notice reads:

"Attention ESVA patrons:
"The Emilio Segrè Visual Archives’ site is moving soon and adopting an open access approach to digital image sharing. Once we have transitioned to the new site in 2021, we will no longer charge for our high-resolution digital images or usage fees (note that we do not hold copyright to all the images in our collections and you will still need to obtain permission for those which we do not own).
"If you are working on a long-term project, we advise you to wait until 2021 so that you may obtain our copies for free. If you cannot wait until 2021, email us at nbl@aip.org and we will do what we can to assist you. We will not be offering refunds for past purchases."

This is very exciting as they have tens of thousands of excellent, high-quality photographs of famous physicists that can be used to radically improve the quality of our images for those scientists. I'm not sure if anyone else noticed it coming, but I think it would be great if we had a bot that could scan all these pages and pick out high-quality images (making sure the new licenses are correct, as some photos are not owned by them). I believe this is about to become the single greatest source of scientific photographs available to us, and it might also be good to mention that somewhere, sort of like how we mention Flikr is a great place to upload from. Footlessmouse (talk) 17:41, 20 November 2020 (UTC)

@Footlessmouse: this sounds intriguing. My bot is not well equipped for such edits; maybe you could bring the issue up on at the village pump? User:Fæ does a lot of mass uploads and might be able to help too. Magog the Ogre (talk) (contribs) 00:58, 24 November 2020 (UTC)
It is an interesting collection. Please do ping me when they change their credit requirements. However an initial look shows the photos appear to have an ESVA credit line and may be part of a named donated collection, this is not the same thing as a copyright statement. It is highly likely that the archives receive donations of prints without either asking for a copyright release from the photographer, or possibly even more likely, never checking that the photographer is known. Consequently a mass upload of any kind might be impossible to do, instead this may need manual checks or limiting upload to photographs that are old enough to be certain to be public domain by age. -- (talk) 10:00, 24 November 2020 (UTC)

2020 county change map?

The map should probably show the percent difference between first place and second place, not the percentage received by the winner.

Both of these counties currently show as gray (within 2%). Los Angeles County, California 2016: 71.76%–22.41% 2020: 71.0%–26.9% (my two sources have different numbers of decimal places)

Waukesha County, Wisconsin (suburb of Milwaukee known for being heavily Republican) 2016: 33.13%–59.62% 2020: 38.8%–59.6%

So while the leading candidate got about the same percentage both times, both counties actually got closer due to the trailing candidate doing better. Your map shows blue counties getting bluer and red counties getting redder, which didn't actually happen this election and is only shown that way because percentages of the two major candidates add up to 98% instead of 94%, increasing the percentage of both major candidates and making it the color of the winner. In actuality, outside the Northeast (where everything with complete results got bluer), suburbs got bluer, major cities such as Los Angeles and Chicago got redder (and Philadelphia, which is in the Northeast), and rural areas are mixed.

You can see the "blue areas get bluer and red areas get redder" in effect in Iowa (the only six counties colored blue are the already blue ones, but there should be a few others) and western Colorado (where the blue counties are the second shade of blue (5-10%) but the red counties are gray; in actuality, all of western Colorado got bluer). In addition, if a county went 47-46 in 2016 but 50-49 in 2020 (in either direction), why should it show in color if nothing changed except the loss of third party votes? For example, it makes no sense that Jefferson County, IA is in light red despite going 49.6%-48.2%; the leading candidate didn't even win by 2%. HotdogPi (talk) 14:26, 28 November 2020 (UTC)

@HotdogPi you're right. The current map uses winner's percent only, not loser. I'll fix this in the next few days. Magog the Ogre (talk) (contribs) 21:11, 28 November 2020 (UTC)

Question

Hello Magog the Ogre,

Is it possible to have the results of User:OgreBot/gallery on he.wiki? -- Geagea (talk) 02:01, 20 November 2020 (UTC)

@Geagea: maybe. Can you give me an explanation of what you're hoping for? Magog the Ogre (talk) (contribs) 02:29, 20 November 2020 (UTC)
I'm hopin for the pages created by the tool like User:Geagea/IDF or User:Geagea/Media from the Israeli Police/New files can have the output to he:משתמש:Geagea/IDF for example. I want that the usrers in he.wiki will help categorized and find possible copyright issues. -- Geagea (talk) 11:07, 20 November 2020 (UTC)
@Geagea: that's a pretty serious request. I'd need to go through a bot approval process, update the configs, and add new logic. Is there a reason that users can't create a gallery on Commons? Magog the Ogre (talk) (contribs) 00:46, 24 November 2020 (UTC)
In he.wiki Commons is like a "different planet". Even though that most of them speaks English the find it hard to conduct in Commons. Hebrew is written from right to left which make it harder to them. I want them to be more involved in photographs and files.
I can understand if you find it to hard to do. I can help with bot approval process, and I'm sure you'l find good users that will help you with the tecnicl issues. Generally I think it is a good idea to do so in other projects in other languages. Anyway thank for your attention. -- Geagea (talk) 01:16, 24 November 2020 (UTC)
I'll put it on the list for things to think about. It needs to go after a few other bugs fixes though. Magog the Ogre (talk) (contribs) 02:15, 30 November 2020 (UTC)

All my uploads are just improvements(Higher Resolution, Remove Watermark, Images with Exif Metadata, etc...) on photos that have been already uploaded by other people mostly from the same sources, my understanding is that the original uploader of the copyrighted material is the one responsible for the violation of the license, not every other person that improved on it, I have improved on more than 3000 photos and if I checked their license it would've taken me a lot more time to do the same, for me, it's better for every member to do what he does the best, and for me, I'm good mostly with improving the quality of images.Remitamine (talk) 00:59, 26 November 2020 (UTC)

@Remitamine: Did you know it was a copyright violation when you uploaded? The image you uploaded had metadata which showed it was taken by an AP photographer, and I couldn't find this resolution on their site. Magog the Ogre (talk) (contribs) 13:40, 26 November 2020 (UTC)
I don't check the file, I just extract a better quality from the same source and overwrite the file uploaded to Commons, VOA News is one of the websites, that I frequently check for new files uploaded from it, and upload better quality from the same source(as a proof that I'm uploading from the same source, I have re-uploaded more than 700 photos from VOA News, and they were sourced from different photographers, it's not feasible to have access to all these sources unless I did get the photos from VOA News, lots of the photos were only posted on VOA News websites, ex: [1], [2], [3], etc...).Remitamine (talk) 15:00, 26 November 2020 (UTC)
@Magog the Ogre: I think I did explain the situation and did provide evidence that the images that I'm uploading are from the same source, so would you mind reverting the last warning before blocking.Remitamine (talk) 18:10, 29 November 2020 (UTC)
@Remitamine: OK. You can remove it, as you can with any warnings from your talk page as long as the removal is made in good faith. Magog the Ogre (talk) (contribs) 01:37, 30 November 2020 (UTC)

Question about two files

Hello Magog the Ogre,

I transferred a file from enwiki that now I am not sure has the correct permissions. Perhaps it needs permission from the person who took the image?

After I categorized it I noticed another file already on the Commons with the same problem:

Could you decide what to do, please?

Thank you! Krok6kola (talk) 02:46, 1 December 2020 (UTC)

@Krok6kola I would prefer not to say too much lest I inadvertently dox this user when he no longer wishes it. However, the uploader was reasonably open about his identity, and through a bit of Google searching I am quite confident the uploader is the photographer. Magog the Ogre (talk) (contribs) 23:30, 1 December 2020 (UTC)
Thanks and I appreciate learning how you think about this issue. Krok6kola (talk) 01:19, 2 December 2020 (UTC)

Hi! Someone asked for a license review of this file from en.wiki. I'm pretty sure that Morwen made the file because we have lots of maps sourced to Morwen and I have been reading discussions about these files once. But I'm no longer an admin at en.wiki so I can't see the original information. Perhaps you can find something? The link to en.wiki does not work som you will have to look a bit for it. It would ofcourse be best if Morwen had specified the source because I think Morwen used some maps/sources to create the file. --MGA73 (talk) 09:57, 22 November 2020 (UTC)

@Morwen: this file was never properly licensed or sourced (although I'm reasonably sure you created it). Would you be so kind as to do so? If not, it has a lot of derivatives we'd have to delete. Magog the Ogre (talk) (contribs) 01:03, 24 November 2020 (UTC)
I honestly can't remember how I created it! Morwen (talk) 09:53, 3 December 2020 (UTC)
@Morwen: did you create it though? Magog the Ogre (talk) (contribs) 03:46, 5 December 2020 (UTC)

Traslado

Magog the Ogre (talk) (contribs) 00:13, 19 December 2020 (UTC)

Hawaii

@Magog the Ogre: , where is the Branch Mapper for Hawaii? Seems to be all that's missing from [https://magog.toolforge.org/branchmapper/start.php].
       — BoringJim (talk) 00:04, 19 December 2020 (UTC)

@BoringJim: it only includes maps if there are locations in your data set which show up there. Magog the Ogre (talk) (contribs) 00:12, 19 December 2020 (UTC)
@Magog the Ogre: My error. I did a map for Walmart, but was parsing the supercenters, so it did not show up in the list. (I shoulda realized Hawaii doesn't have supercenters.)        — BoringJim (talk) 00:49, 19 December 2020 (UTC)

Dear Admin Magog the Ogre,

You re-uploaded the full resolution image of this flickr image but when I tried to review the file, a message says the flickr account is blacklisted. Does that mean that it should be deleted? If so, perhaps you could delete it as the second uploader. This was the original uploader's only image on Commons and it is unused. I am not an Administrator. Thank you and Merry Christmas, --Leoboudv (talk) 09:26, 25 December 2020 (UTC)

@Leoboudv: apparently you're using a tool; I don't know how you found it was blacklisted. Anyway, I was unaware or I would have nominated it for deletion. Please feel free to take ownership and do it yourself. Magog the Ogre (talk) (contribs) 02:33, 28 December 2020 (UTC)
File:Yakkha mask.jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

Wegmans map

Please update the Wegmans locations map. This will definitely help you:

https://www.wegmans.com/wp-content/uploads/Here-We-Grow-Map-11-10-2020.pdf — Preceding unsigned comment added by Thomas J. Seymour (talk • contribs) 11:46, December 11, 2020‎ (UTC)

@Thomas J. Seymour: , please see the updated Wegmans map.
The PDF you provided was intriguing, but not viable for datasets.       — BoringJim (talk) 23:45, 18 December 2020 (UTC)
@Thomas J. Seymour, BoringJim: if either of you has the patience, the list of stores is here. You could use this service to convert to a list of lat longs. That would help in creating this map. Magog the Ogre (talk) (contribs) 02:55, 28 December 2020 (UTC)
@Magog the Ogre: I actually already used that list of stores 10 days ago, and updated the map, here (as noted, and as linked-to, above). Because it was a small enough list of stores, I manually looked up each lat/lon on Google Maps's aerial-view, which I prefer to do, because even stores, themselves, tend to get their coordinates very wrong, sometimes.
Looking up lat/lon by address should be considered far too unreliable, far too often. The Wegman's in Scranton, Pennsylvania, for example; before I corrected it, Google had it over a mile away off of a highway embankment. The latlong.net site puts it a full 135 miles away!
When shopping centers build anew, they often name it colloquially to the developer - a name that doesn't tend to make it to online mapping services. Their address translation services have the misguided notion of abandoning the street number and even the city/state, preferring to search by street name, only, even if hundreds of miles away.        —  BoringJim (talk) 09:30, 28 December 2020 (UTC)
@BoringJim: Great. Thanks for the update. Magog the Ogre (talk) (contribs) 14:25, 29 December 2020 (UTC)

Gallery change

Hallo Magog the Ogre, we the Wikipedians from Dresden in Germany think your bot is really useful for our work in and around the city Dresden. Many Wikipedians use the gallery c:User:Derbrauni/NeuesDresden. Please can you change it to gallery DAYS_PER_GALLERY(1). I have spoke with User:Derbrauni. He agree with this. Thanks.--sk (talk) 09:32, 28 December 2020 (UTC)

Great River (New York) Fire Engine

Regarding the image File:Grfd392monitor.jpg, is there any evidence that the source of the image was not from Pllobell? ----DanTD (talk) 04:12, 30 December 2020 (UTC)

@DanTD: you have the standard of evidence reversed. We require source and evidence the copyright owner has released the copyright. Commons:Project scope/Evidence. Magog the Ogre (talk) (contribs) 23:18, 30 December 2020 (UTC)
Well, I was under the impression that they already had released it. ----DanTD (talk) 00:38, 31 December 2020 (UTC)

Help with uploading a picture

Greetings! I need help with one picture. I am the editor of Serbian Wikipedia, and one user asked me for help on my talk page. Namely, she is the producer of the film "sr:Идеалан посао" and she uploaded a poster of the film here on Wikimedia Commons. However, some parts of the image received a larger amount of red color during the upload of the image to Wikimedia Commons. This is a link to the image posted here (File:IdealanPosao2020.jpg), and this is a screenshot of the original image of what the poster should actually look like ([4]). Do you know what the problem is and how it can be corrected? Greetings and happy holidays! — Serbian Nickmen (talk) 19:57, 2 January 2021 (UTC)

@Serbian Nickmen: please post your question on Commons:Graphics village pump or Commons:Graphic Lab/Photography workshop. Magog the Ogre (talk) (contribs) 21:50, 2 January 2021 (UTC)

File incorrectly flagged for not having information template

Hi! In this edit, your bot added Category:Media missing infobox template. It’s true that {{Information isn’t present in the description page’s wikitext, but {{Balla Demeter-engedély}} transcludes it, so it does have a machine-readable description, source, author etc. Please revise your bot so that it considers information templates transcluded by other templates as well (and make sure to remove already-added incorrect categories). Thanks in advance, —Tacsipacsi (talk) 12:14, 13 January 2021 (UTC)

@Tacsipacsi: this is a new feature and I'm still working on it. Chill. Magog the Ogre (talk) (contribs) 17:03, 13 January 2021 (UTC)
I’m not upset at all. But if it’s beta, early feedback is important so that you can fix its bugs, isn’t it? —Tacsipacsi (talk) 17:08, 13 January 2021 (UTC)
@Tacsipacsi: there is absolutely nothing on that page which is machine readable, so I don't really see the point of your comment.[5] Magog the Ogre (talk) (contribs) 03:14, 14 January 2021 (UTC)
I don’t know what data your API query is supposed to retrieve, but there’s pretty much COM:MRD data. —Tacsipacsi (talk) 12:33, 14 January 2021 (UTC)

Missing Licenses?

Dear Magog the Ogre..I don't know license required for these files File:Pretty Ladies.jpg and File:Madame Sans-Gene 1925.jpg?! Both files are created in USA before 1926, and so they are in public domain. {{PD-US-expired}}.--Maher27777 (talk) 10:21, 14 January 2021 (UTC)

@Maher27777: They are German and Swedish, as explicitly noted on their articles. Magog the Ogre (talk) (contribs) 00:15, 15 January 2021 (UTC)

File:Madame Sans-Gene 1925.jpg and File:Pretty Ladies.jpg

Greetings,

I am a little unsure what the issue with File:Madame Sans-Gene 1925.jpg is about - does it need a licence for the screenshot or is the PD-expired part in question? Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk) 13:59, 18 January 2021 (UTC)
Same question for File:Pretty Ladies.jpg Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk) 14:02, 18 January 2021 (UTC)

@Jo-Jo Eumerus: both have a license for the US but lack a license for the home country as required by policy. The author field provides the director, who isn't likely the same as the illustrator, who I couldn't determine. Magog the Ogre (talk) (contribs) 15:14, 18 January 2021 (UTC)

File:Ron Mueck head.jpg

Hello. With regards to the file that you speedily deleted. I think File:Ron Mueck head.jpg should not have been deleted, because it is covered by COM:FOP UK:

  • It is situated within publicly-accessible premises of the British Museum, and the British FOP is known to be very broad, and
  • It is a permanent installation inside the museum.

Hope you can reconsider. If you doubt, it is more better to submit it to a deletion request. Thank you. JWilz12345 (Talk|Contrib's.) 02:21, 19 January 2021 (UTC)

I already requested the undeletion of the file at COM:UNDEL. You may want to raise other questions or concerns surrounding the object there. Regards, JWilz12345 (Talk|Contrib's.) 03:56, 19 January 2021 (UTC)

Hi! What has your bot done here and why? Doc Taxon (talk) 12:57, 15 January 2021 (UTC)

Meanwhile you have been onwiki, but I got no reply ... Doc Taxon (talk) 22:33, 16 January 2021 (UTC)
Why would I reply to you when you've come on my page to flame me and the answer is literally in the thread above? Magog the Ogre (talk) (contribs) 19:08, 17 January 2021 (UTC)
But the license has been there before your bot has come. That's the reason why I asked you, what the bot is doing and why? Doc Taxon (talk) 13:28, 19 January 2021 (UTC)

Hi Magog the Orge,

you've recently blocked this User for uploading unfree files. As soon as the block expired, he continued uploading exactly the same type of pictures from the same unclear sources. Could you take a second look at this?

What does "Unstrip size limit exceeded (5,000,000)" mean

If I understand this means the pages size is now too large but I asked you several times about this possibility and if it would be good to have more gallery pages per month, but you never responded to that specific question. Please address this issue quickly and change my gallery so that we do not exceed the page limits again. For 3 days this has been a problem even though Gone Postal has reduced their upload quantity, so OgreBot can process the uploads. Thanks Ww2censor (talk) 11:27, 12 January 2021 (UTC)

@Ww2censor: the instructions page is provided so that you can make an educated decision. Magog the Ogre (talk) (contribs) 23:49, 12 January 2021 (UTC)
Thank you for that advise but unfortunately the instructions do not give me any indication as to the maximum number of images any one gallery page might hold. For now please change my Philately gallery from "DAYS_PER_GALLERY(31)" to "DAYS_PER_GALLERY(5)" and hopefully that will be sufficient but, to be honest, I am really just guessing. Ww2censor (talk) 13:52, 13 January 2021 (UTC)
@Magog the Ogre: I made a specific edit request about increasing the number of days per gallery per this discussion 11 days ago, in addition to asking for your advise on how many days would be good, but you have yet to make that edit. Please change this for me asap, so User:Gone Postal can restart their uploading; their getting impatient. In case you forgot, my main gallery page is "Category:Philately". PLEASE.
