Resolution[edit]

Hello, Mabdul, at my request, Tina Mitusova sent his permission for photographs. The letter she sent twice to this address permissions-commons@wikimedia.org please check the mail. Permission is given to the following photos.

Sry for the late response: I can't do it since I don't speak Russian. Please ask somebody who can. Regards, mabdul 09:57, 30 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Russian-speaking inspectors are unwilling to help. Thanks for the answer. I do not speak English I apologize if you did not write correctly. -- Дагиров Умар (talk) 17:34, 30 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

OgreBot and FTCG's templates[edit]

Despite my eager reply on the OgreBot page, I am a bit worried about changing FtCG to use localised text. I cannot find a localisation template that would be good to replace the following:

This file was originally uploaded at <<WIKI DOMAIN>> as <<FILENAME>>, before it was transferred to Commons using <<TOOL NAME>>.

What do you suggest? This, that and the other (talk) 05:29, 30 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Did you realized that I provided a diff? The template is there: {{original description page|en.wikibooks|UmbDotNetContols8.jpg}} using [[:en:WP:FTCG|FtCG]].
Moreover check the minor edit related in the header (see diff). mabdul 09:55, 30 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I did realise that you gave a diff. The problems are
  • it looks terrible. "The original description page was here. All following user names refer to en.wikibooks. using FtCG." There is no way of neatly slipping in the tool name.
  • Also, the original filename is not given in plain text. It is hidden in the link. That is not up to my high standards.
This, that and the other (talk) 00:36, 2 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I believe either the bot or the template were fixed and we/you should consider to do the same, see this diff. Regards, mabdul 14:50, 6 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Completed translations[edit]

Hi, Mabdul! I just realized you left a message on my page about completed translations.. I'll move the ones done over from now on, if that's fine. Thanks WhisperToMe (talk) 06:02, 14 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Archiving permission for File:Virtualbox logo.png[edit]

Hello, Mabdul

A discussion with User:Fastily about restoring a deleted files requires the attention of an OTRS member. I am not sure I can understand him but he says:

I see, do me a favor and link that to COM:OTRS, and allow them to restore it. Normally I'd simply restore a file like this, but given the contentious nature of the debate surrounding it, we ought to get this in the OTRS archives so it isn't accidentally re-deleted in the future.

The file in questions is File:Virtualbox logo.png and the word "this" refers to Oracle EULA.

Any help would be apprieciated.

Best regards,
Codename Lisa (talk) 06:57, 24 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading File:Arenahtml3math.gif. I notice that the file page either doesn't contain enough information about the license or it contains contradictory information about the license, so the copyright status is unclear.

If you created this file yourself, then you must provide a valid copyright tag. For example, you can tag it with {{self|GFDL|cc-by-sa-all}} to release it under the multi-license GFDL plus Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike All-version license or you can tag it with {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain. (See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of license tags that you can use.)

If you did not create the file yourself or if it is a derivative of another work that is possibly subject to copyright protection, then you must specify where you found it (e.g. usually a link to the web page where you got it), you must provide proof that it has a license that is acceptable for Commons (e.g. usually a link to the terms of use for content from that page), and you must add an appropriate license tag. If you did not create the file yourself and the specific source and license information is not available on the web, you must obtain permission through the VRT system and follow the procedure described there.

Note that any unsourced or improperly licensed files will be deleted one week after they have been marked as lacking proper information, as described in criteria for deletion. If you have uploaded other files, please confirm that you have provided the proper information for those files, too. If you have any questions about licenses please ask at Commons:Village pump/Copyright or see our help pages. Thank you.

Notification about possible deletion[edit]

Some contents have been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether they should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at their entry.

If you created these pages, please note that the fact that they have been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with them, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

Code issues in User:Mabdul/modern.js[edit]

Hi Mabdul, I am a bored bot (this is kind of a computer program) that is watching the recent changes and tapping buttons like I did now.

Curious about the reason? Possibly not but I will tell you anyway:

  1. You edited User:Mabdul/modern.js. Glad to see you coding in javascript! Have you ever considered becoming a MediaWiki hacker?
  2. Though, that change appears to introduce 4 new jshint issues — the page's status is now having warnings. Note that invalid or ambiguous code often has unwanted side effects like breaking other tools for you. If you cannot find out how to fix it, I suggest blanking the page for now.
  3. To help you understanding where the issues are, I have aggregated a report here and now. If you have questions, don't hesitate to ask users experienced in javascript writing for help. But do not ask the bot's operators (chronically overwrought) unless you suspect an error of mine. If you prefer not getting spammed by me, you can opt-out reports by adding {{ValidationOptOut|type=all}} to your user page or cmb-opt-out anywhere on your your global user page on Meta. Good luck at Wikimedia Commons and happy hacking!
  1. ISSUE: line 1 character 2: Expected a string and instead saw {. - Evidence: {{db-u1}}
  2. ISSUE: line 1 character 3: Expected ':' and instead saw 'db'. - Evidence: {{db-u1}}
  3. ISSUE: line 1 character 6: Expected '(number)' and instead saw 'u1'. - Evidence: {{db-u1}}
  4. ISSUE: line 1 character 9: Expected '(end)' and instead saw '}'. - Evidence: {{db-u1}}

Important message for file movers[edit]

A community discussion has been closed where the consensus was to grant all file movers the suppressredirect user right. This will allow file movers to not leave behind a redirect when moving files and instead automatically have the original file name deleted. Policy never requires you to suppress the redirect, suppression of redirects is entirely optional.

Possible acceptable uses of this ability:

  • To move recently uploaded files with an obvious error in the file name where that error would not be a reasonable redirect. For example: moving "Sheep in a tree.jpg" to "Squirrel in a tree.jpg" when the image does in fact depict a squirrel.
  • To perform file name swaps.
  • When the original file name contains vandalism. (File renaming criterion #5)

Please note, this ability should be used only in certain circumstances and only if you are absolutely sure that it is not going to break the display of the file on any project. Redirects should never be suppressed if the file is in use on any project. When in doubt, leave a redirect. If you forget to suppress the redirect in case of file name vandalism or you are not fully certain if the original file name is actually vandalism, leave a redirect and tag the redirect for speedy deletion per G2.

The malicious or reckless breaking of file links via the suppressredirect user right is considered an abuse of the file mover right and is grounds for immediate revocation of that right. This message serves as both a notice that you have this right and as an official warning. Questions regarding this right should be directed to administrators. --Majora (talk) 21:36, 7 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
