@JuTa: It is a shame the backend system is losing tickets. I can ask Roger Bansemer for email agreement and directly claim ownership but it would tell a proper story if the original rights owner were in the wikimedia commons records. I'm fighting another battle in parallel with the [1] which became unpublished. It is hard to keep up with the happy deletions. What do you expect me to do? I cannot see the tickets as I am no OTRS-member. You dont need to send any mail again. You have a recept. Go to the notoceboard and ask what was wrong with the case including telling the ticket-number. The people there will be able to check the ticket and tell you what was missing. I noticed that you deleted the photo I uploaded "File:Musical_artist_Shlomo_Simcha.jpg". In my Talk page, the notice on the file says says "I notice that the file page either doesn't contain enough information about the license or it contains contradictory information about the license, so the copyright status is unclear."

I uploaded the photograph with permission of Shlomo Simcha Sufrin (who is both the person in the image and its owner and rightsholder), but must not have properly tagged its copyright, which led to the noted confusion. I would like to request that the photo be undeleted (if still possible), and am happy to provide whatever information is necessary to show that I have permission from Shlomo Simcha Sufrin to upload the image.

My apologies, as well, if this is not the space for making such requests. I am still quite new to this, and this image was my first upload to Wikimedia Commons.

It does not feel good to read your pretty quick lie assumption, as it goes rather about discretion here and ignorance of Commons processes in this respect. I suppose there might have been a copyright problem, but as the photo apparently was from 1925, perhaps published at latest in 1929 (see Commons:Deletion requests/File:Exposition des oeuvres de Charles GARNIER 1888-1929 - cliché du 26 mai 1929.jpg), it will soon be out of copyright unless already so. I supposed it was from the same book (unavailable to me) as some other images in the batch of DRs. As non-administrator I have no access to the information on source that might have been in the file description page. I suppose that is the uploader. If this was a portrait photo, it must have been taken during the lifetime of the subject. I think we use year of authorship +120, with some weighting of probabilities that the author was at least 25 years old and lived at most to 75 (or to 80 but was 30 at the time and so on), see {{PD-old-assumed}}. If we can assume the photo was anonymous, +70 years is probably enough for Europe, I don't know about the USA. –LPfi (talk) 15:21, 19 July 2021 (UTC)

Do you know whether it's possible to select all or some of a specific users uploads? I would like to categorize all uploads by Special:Contributions/Svenar to Category:Google Web Designer screenshots. I've been working on categorizing uploads from nowiki and would like to avoid having to look at them again, but there's a lot of them and categorizing them one by one is a tedious job. Da sind aber noch viele andere Dateien, die Du mit falscher Lizenz und mindestens unklarer Quelle hochgeladen hast. Das macht Deine "Behauptung" dass Du diese Karte komplett allein erstellt hast nicht wirklich glaubwürdiger. Du kannst auch versuchen das ganze via dem sog. L'image file:///GuermeurJacPortrait.jpg|GuermeurJacPortrait.jpg m'appartient, je détiens ce portrait en tant qu'héritier direct de Jacques Guermeur né en 1750 mort en 1798. Ce portrait date de 1795 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Il est en plus de m'appartenir, évidemment dans le domaine public, comme l'image file:///Marduel-Claude-portrait_1818.jpg|Marduel-Claude-portrait_1818.jpg Je vous prie de rétablir ces pages sur wikimedia dans les meilleurs délais. For permission to use a Gene Hyde photo in my book, I paid the society a small fee because the book, although published by the State University of New York, was a commercial project But Wikipedia is not a for-profit enterprise. What is your objection? The photo was taken around 1960.

I have another photo of Murphy that I could try to upload to Creative Commons, but the quality is not as good. However, that photo is from a picture postcard that Murphy distributed for free in her restaurants as a marketing vehicle. I have a pdf of the front and back of the postcard, showing there is no copyright. But I'm afraid that you or another Creative Commons monitor will prevent me from using that photo, too.

I hope you take into account the recent University of North Carolina study showing that women account for less than one-fifth of the biographical articles on Wikipedia, and that the number hasn't been growing because articles about women are routinely nominated for deletion. It would be very difficult to find a public-domain photograph of Murphy. Well, you are allowed to use the image in your book, but you are not allowed to release it for everybody in the world for any purpose, which is required for staying on commons. Authors of photos takes i.e. in 1920 are not neccessarily dead for more than 70 years. If they i.e. were 30 years old when taken the photo and they becase 80 years old they would have died in 1970. Which would make the photo copyrighted until 2041. --JuTa 15:36, 1 August 2021 (UTC)

Hello.

You deleted my files Robertmiller.png, Robert_Doubek.png, Gunovsky.png, ACSA_poster.jpg, and ACS_Newsletter_cover.jpg. These were deleted because "Source of derivative work not specified since 11 July 2021."

I left a talk and I attempted to create a discussion about this, I'm dissapointed that there was no effort made to engage in a conversation as to how to help my images comply.

I am the original creator and rights holder to the content that was uploaded. The contents within are entirely my creation. As per advice of the original deletion request (by EugeneZelenko), I released rights to all the images on the GNU basis and confirmed that, yet again, I am the holder of these images.

However, I return now to find that my images were deleted on the 20th with the justification that you have given. That no source of derivative work was provided since the 11th of July 2021, yet I opened a discussion and performed the necessary steps on the 18th of July 2021.

Can you help me understand what went wrong?

It feels very difficult to work with the commons when it feels very difficult to communicate with moderators who seem to delete these files with little oversight. Dear JuTa,

I am an inexperienced Wikipedian. I did not know whether this file would be deleted or not. Let me explain. I had screenshotted and cropped a picture of an 1852 illustration, digitized by Gallica. I was not certain whether it should be possible that I consider it my own work, but this specific picture I uploaded to Wikimedia Commons is theoretically a picture I took. I left a U.R.L. as the source wherefrom I got this picture, but it is, as I see it, the object of my picture, not the picture itself.

At the end of the uploading process, I was asked whether I was unsure of the possibility of the deletion of the file, and I confirmed; which demonstrates how uncertain I am about all this. What should I do?

Jai un projet de photographie qui consiste à faire des Photo des Départements/communes/Arrondissements/quartiers du Bénin afin de mettre plus en lumière nos communes et quartiers de villes du Bénin. Dans ma curiosité, j'ai découvert par exemple que le modèle {{Supported by Wikimedia France}} peut être mis sur chacune des images qui sera prise dans ce cadre si ce projet arrive à avoir le soutien de Wikimédia France. ce qui à donné ce le résultats ici . à côté de la description il est demandé de proposer un projet. Cela veut dire que je peux mettre ce projet de photo sous un projet Wikimédia France ou tout autre projet ou si je dois le créer comme je veux sur meta ou ailleurs. je voudrais savoir si j'ai bien compris si oui comment procéder s'il y a des exemplaires. Je suis curieux d'en savoir plus. De plus, je voudrais savoir s'il serait utile de créer une catégorie générale pour pouvoir retrouver toutes les photos à faire dans ce projet. j'ai besoin d'un guide dans ce sens ̪. • First of all, these simple logos are not copyrightable works anyway, because they do not have the required level of threshold of originality. There are tens of thousands of them at Commons (e.g. over 77,000 here or over 45,000 here) that only require the license building block

This logo image consists only of simple geometric shapes or text. It does not meet the threshold of originality needed for copyright protection, and is therefore in the public domain. Although it is free of copyright restrictions, this image may still be subject to other restrictions. See WP:PD § Fonts and typefaces or Template talk:PD-textlogo for more information.

The USA has a fairly high threshold of originality but in many other places a design need not be very creative or original to qualify for copyright. Deletion of files in February

Hi JuTa, I do not visit common regularly. Someone suggested in January that some files I had created actually included content from other people. This suggestion is not substantiated. The list of the relevant files can be found here:

Hi Juta! Please, I would like to know if you could help with an issue about OTRS permission.  In May I sent 2 emails to OTRS permissions (permissions-pt@wikimedia.org ) and I'm still waiting for the answer  (Ticket#2021051410010271 sent by lilianviana@usp.br ;   Ticket#: 2021061810008239 sent by hugofortes@usp.br). I work in a library in Brazil and we would like to upload images from the library collection to Commons but since we don't have any answer about this tickets I would like to know if there is another way to do it. Hey, I have seen that you have left messages in warning me about the possible deletion of files I uploaded to Wikipedia Commons.

However, I do not know how the process works, and I am not sure how I could show anything about the copyright status and where I can find whether they are subject to copyright or not and am not sure how to make tags either.

I also want to note that I have taken the pictures from Bangladeshi Government Websites (Bangladesh Judiciary Portal and Bangladesh Bank website), which I believe can be used freely. Especially, considering I have seen other images in Wikipedia, brought from the same websites (like most Bangladeshi banknotes images in Bangladeshi Taka wikipedia page are from Bangladesh Bank website and are under "fair use"), so I have these reasons among others to believe they can be freely used.

But I would be glad if you could help me figure out what to do next.
