Wikimedia Commons is happy to announce that the second round of the 2013 Picture of the Year competition is now open. This year will be the eighth edition of the annual Wikimedia Commons photo competition, which recognizes exceptional contributions by users on Wikimedia Commons. Wikimedia users are invited to vote for their favorite images featured on Commons during the last year (2013) to produce a single Picture of the Year.

Hundreds of images that have been rated Featured Pictures by the international Wikimedia Commons community in the past year were entered in this competition. Brooklyn Museum image

We developed the 'no known restrictions' template for this purpose. Hi, I'm sorry, but fair use is not allowed on commons. The licnse tag you added was a fair use tag and redirects to a speedy deletion tag here on commons. Compare Commons:Fair use an en:Wikipedia:Fair use. Hallo JuTa! Die Mail mit der Bestätigung kam, zusammen mit dem Bild direkt von Yohan Goutt Goncalves am 7. Januar (ich habe die Mail aus meinem Archiv gerade nochmals an permission geschickt). Später gab es noch eine Rückfrage, wer der Fotograf ist, Goutt antwortete daraufhin, dass seine Mutter das Bild gemacht hat. Danach gab es keine Rückfragen mehr. Müsste ja alles eigentlich im Posteingang bei Euch drin sein. Derzeit ist Goutt in Osttimor zur Feier seiner Fahrt beiden Olympischen Spielen und eher schlecht erreichbar. Hi, the main prolem is that you didn't provided any license for those images. The source pages don't indicate any license either, which makes them "all rights reserved" per default. You could use i.e. advanced google image search for searching for free images. an exmpample: important choose "free to use or share, even commercially" for the option "usage rights" near th bottom. regards. --JuTa 20:10, 11 March 2014 (UTC)

I don't know what is the problem, but I've uploaded the covers of the books, because there wasn't any yet and they are awesome Portuguese Books that I believe that deserve more information in Wikipedia. I don't understand why you've blocked it, but if you are going to continue, I give up. I uploaded the cover image just to add some more information about the books, but if you want to block the image go ahead, I just don't understand what's the gain for you.

Hi, you simply break the copyright of the authors of the books and/or the designers of the book covers. Because you own a copy of those book, you dont own the copyright of them. You cannot release images of them under a free license (which includes commercial reuseage for everybody in the world btw.). The only chance I see that you contact the authors or their publishing houses an ask if they are willing to publish those images under a free license of their choise ({{Cc-by-sa-3.0}} is recommanded). • set the {{OTRS pending}} template which prevents deletion for about 30 days or until the case will be decided as valid or invalid by a member of the commons support team.
• apply the license given by the copyight holder(s) as noted by you above.

Hi, I think you simply break the copyrights of the original authors uploading those images to commons. You didn't shot these images yourself, so you cannot publish them under a free license. If you have contact to the original author(s) you can try to ask them if the are willing to publish them under a free license of their choice ({{Cc-by-sa-3.0}} is recommanded). If they agree thy have to send an email to the commons support team as describted in Commons:OTRS. Hi, yes. But that means only that wikia users uploading files to wikia should not break any other party copyrights. It does not mean that they pulish thir own work under a commons compatible license (see Commons:Licensing). You should try to contact the copyright holder, probarbly TheQ Editor, an ask him if he is willing to publish this image under a free license ({{Cc-by-sa-3.0}} is recommanded). Hi, this is a borderline case. You might try to use {{PD-textlogo}} and {{Trademarked}} for this image. But this will not prevent anyody to raise a reduglar deletion request for it because it might exceed the so called threshold of originality. The better way is to ask the copyright holder if he is willing to publish this under a free license ({{Cc-by-sa-3.0}} is recomannded). If he agrees he has to send a releasing mail to the Commons support team as describted in Commons:OTRS. Hi, I guess you talking about File:Иларион Троекуровский.jpg. In general you can't just copy files from the internet and upload them to commons declaring them as your own work. Mostly they are copyrighted and you breaking law doing so. Please read Commons:Licensing and or Commons:Licensing/ru. In this one case you missed to provide any license template. In most coutries for such painting the artist has to be dead for more than 70 years to make a paining public domain. Hello! I uploaded an image. Before I did it I ask for permission to the right person. It's a picture of 1€ct from European Central Bank's web. I wrote an e-mail to the person in charge of coins and bills images and he answered that those images could be uploaded to wikimedia commons and wikipedia for informative purposes. I don't know where to obtain information about copyright or what do you want me to write in the copyright line in the image table... Can you explain me? Hi, the main problem is that you used just no license template when uploading this image - compare Commons:Licensing and Commons:Copyright tags. The second problem that the "Backsides" of Euro coins are copyrighted by th national law of its country - compare Commons:EURO. I you got a written permission you should forward that to the commons support team as describted in Commons:OTRS, but be aware that only for informative purposes is normaly not enough it must be possile for anybody in the worl to reuse that image for any purpose (incl. commercial purposes as i.e. print an sell t-shirts with it). regards --JuTa 08:39, 6 April 2014 (UTC)

Excuse me. This is my first time to upload picture onto WikiCommons. I found the picture on a website here providing a network picture. It is clear that this website did not create this picture as I know that LVB company gave out this network plan and this website used it afterwards. I'm not certain about how to license the file I uploaded. LVB allow its network plan downloaded at its website, so this file are supposed to be created by LVB. Is there any improper deeds of me? Please note that free licencences for any sort of media can only be granted by the creator of the file. So, as you rightly observed, this image of a network plan was created by LVB and not by you. The fact that some website offers these plans for download does not at all mean that they waive any sort of copyright. Therefore you as the uploader cannot simply make up a licence and claim that the file is in the public domain. Moreover, the source page http://www.city-cover.com/ is a commercial platform that does not allow any content to be copied and uploaded elsewhere. That said, your uploading this file at Wikimedia Commons was a clear infringement of copyright. Next time you would like to upload files from the internet please be sure that the source website has explicitely granted a free licence for all of its content. We are trying to help expand the Stevie "Keys" Roseman page however it seems difficult to make any sort of progress with random editors making decisions. Evidently the picture we wanted to upload is copyrighted which is fine and the owner has now been contacted for it's release. In the meantime someone else has marked the entire reference for speedy deletion even though his page is a valid one. In addition to the pending photo there is relevant content that should be there however we need help with this process. Are you willing to assist expanding this page if we provide this content? Hi, the image you are talking about was uploaded and deleted more than a month ago now. But anyhow, you stated the source as "internet" and the author as "B". Most internet images are copyighted and you can't just upload them to commons releasing them under a free license (which is required here - see Commons:Licensing). I you now contacted the copyight holder an he is willing to publish this image under a free license, he should send a releasing email to the commons support team as describted on Commons:OTRS. Once the support team staff has checked that release an foun it OK they will undelete the image. (I'm not a member of that team). Basically, this is a 1973 publicity photo of the band, distributed by the record company, and I believe this photo is covered under the "fair use" principle of Wikipedia publicity photos. I've seen your message and understand the situation. However I want to explan myself in order to obtain help. My family owns a letter, it was wriiten by Porfirio Diaza Mexican dictator that died almost 100 years ago. We wanted to share the histroy by adding our great grandfathers Plutarco Montiel history to Wikipedia, besides we wanted to share the letter that Porfirio Diaz wrote to him while he was president. I'm new to this and would love to share the media, however what copyright status should I use? I think it can be considererd public domain already. The letter was written in 1888 date that you can clearly see on the letter.

Is {{PD-US}} ok? or should I use another tag? how can I preven't my file from being deleted.

Hi Paolo, the {{PD-US}} is not realy OK, because thats not an US work but a Mexican work. I've changed it to {{PD-old-auto-1923}}. I think thats fitting here altough Mexico has a 100 pma rule - compare Commons:Copyright rules by territory/Mexico. Quote: There is one exception: works that were already in the public domain before July 23, 2003. Generally speaking, that means works created by someone who had died before 1952 are in the public domain (30 years before the non-retroactive extension to 50pma was implemented on 12. The image is used in many projects for this species. If you are sure that your identification is correct you couldtry to ask i.e. on Commons:Help desk for other opinions. Regarding property right of logo

I would like to mention that two logos of universities are kind of public property, because it's license is not clear. If university authorities are aware about it they would certainly release it as creative commons.

Lizenzstatus

Hallo JuTa,

ich bin noch neu auf Wikipedia und kenne mich deshalb noch nicht recht gut aus. Die Datei "Horner beim Mürzman Extrem Duathlon (2014).jpg" habe ich käuflich beim Fotografen "Oliver Königshofer" der seine Fotos auf "www.actline.at" zeigt erworben. Beim Kauf hat er die Klausel "Mit der Zahlung übertragen ich die Werknutzungsbewiligung für den privaten Bereich. Gewerbliche Nutzungen (z.B. Prospekte, Inserate oder ähnliches) bedürfen einer eigenen Vereinbarung." bekanntgegeben. Diese Habe ich aber leider nur in einem E-Mail stehen. Reicht diese Klausel für eine veröffentlichung auf Wiki? Es ist ja keine gewerbliche Nutzung. Wenn ja, wie kann ich dass dann bestätigen? Die Datei "Horner beim Austria Triathlon über die Mitteldistanz (2013).JPG" wäre zum löschen. Wie geht das? Hallo Triathlon1, Commons und Wikipedia selbst sind zwar nicht kommerziell, aber all ihr Inhalt, kann und muss von jedem weltweit für jeden Zweck weiternutzbar sein - vergleiche z.B. Commons:Licensing. "Deine" Nutzungsvereinbarung mit dem Fotografen ist also nicht ausreichend, da sie sich

1. nur auf Dich bezieht. D.h. Du darfst das Bild nutzen, aber sonst niemand.
2. eine Gewerbliche Nutzung ausschließt.

Du könntest den Fotografen fragen, ob er bereit ist das Bild / die Bilder unter einer freien Lizenz zu veröffentlichen - {{Cc-by-sa-3.0}} wird empfohlen aber es gibt noch viele weitere, siehe Commons:Copyright tags. In diesem Falle müsste er eine sog. Freigabeerklärung an das Commons-Support-Team schicken, so wie in Commons:OTRS bzw. Commons:OTRS/de beschrieben.

Gelöscht werden die Bilder in ca. einer Woche wenn sich am derzeitigen Zustand (ganz ohne Lizenz) nichts ändert. Gruß --JuTa 07:30, 1 May 2014 (UTC)

Wie läuft das ab? Wenn ich ihn frage und er einverstanden ist, was müssen wir dann machen, sodass das nachgewiesen ist? ich habe da leider keine Ahnung wie sowas ablaufen kann!?! würde das Bild aber trotzdem gerne drinnen lassen, da ich finde, dass bei Personenbeschreibung auch ein Bild dazugehört.

Das ist dort beschrieben, abr gerne nochmals hier im einzelnen.

1. Du schickst ihm eine Anfrage z.B. mit folgendem Text: Commons:Emailvorlagen#Einfache Bildanfrage
2. Falls er einverstanden ist, schickt er dann den ausgefüllten Text von Commons:Emailvorlagen#Einverständniserklärung (Rechte-Inhaber) an permissions-commons-de@wikimedia.org, und am besten auch CC an Dich.
3. Sobald Du weisst dass die Einvrständniserklärung verschickt wurde, bearbeitest Du die Bildbeschreiungsseiten und fügst ein {{subst:OTRS pending}} hinzu. Dies verhindert dann die Löschung für ca. 30 Tage ober bis der Fall als OK oder nicht OK entschieden wurde.

Es sind normale Logos von Shows, wie zum Beispiel bei de:SmackDown oder de:Two and a half men. Wie kann ich da eine Lizenz angeben und was für eine? Ich habe ja schließlich nicht die Rechte daran, aber Logos sind doch gemeinfrei, oder? Dateiliste Grüße --T1m0b3 HSV (talk) 20:31, 1 May 2014 (UTC)

Nein, Logos sind nicht gemeinfrei. Nur wenn sie die sog. de:Schöpfungshöhe nicht überschreiten können sie hier hochgeladen werden, vergleiche auch COM:TOO. In diesem Fall könnte man {{PD-textlogo}} und {{Trademarked}} als Lizenz verwenden. Deine beiden Fälle sind grenzwertig, aber Du kannst versuchen diese Liezenzen zu setzen und hoffen dass niemand anderes einen Löschantrag darauf stellt. Gruß --JuTa 20:36, 1 May 2014 (UTC)

Ähhm, für die Serie selbst ist denk ich klar warum sie ein Logo führt. Wiedererkennungswert und so. Wenn Du die Wikipedia-Artikel meinst, nun ich sag ja nicht dass "deine" beiden Logos gelöscht werden. Aber die "Grenzwerte" wann etwas die Schöpfungshöhe überschreitet und wann nicht ist in unterschiedlichen Ländern sehr unterschiedlich und auch innerhalb eines Landes gibt es sehr unterschiedliche Auffassungen dazu. Hier auf Commons müssen wir sozusagen die Gesetze aller Länder der Welt beachten. Und da kann es durchaus passieren dass jemand einen Löschtantrag stellt, muss aber nicht. Für mich ist die Sache jetzt OK, ich kann aber nicht für alle anderen Commons Benutzer sprechen. Gruß --JuTa 21:26, 1 May 2014 (UTC)

Test Bilder

Guten Abend, müßte mehrere Bildzeichen Hochladen zum Testen auf WikiVoyage und wollte fragen ob ich Sie dann nachher ohne weiteres Löschen kann? Oder gibt es eine andere Möglichkeit diese für eine festgelegte Testperiode abzulegen? Gruß --Walta (talk) 22:24, 1 May 2014 (UTC)

Moin Walta. Ich kenn die Gepflogenheiten auf WikiVoyage nicht aber ggf. könnte es einfacher sein sie dort hochzuladen un auch wieder löschen zu lassen. Ansonsten gehe ich davon aus dass diese "Bildzeichen" urheberrechtlich OK sind. Ich würde sie dann hier beim Hochladen in der Beschreibung mit einem klaren Kommentar, dass es sich um temporäre Testdateien handelt schreiben. Nach Abschluss der Tests dann mit {{speedy|"Deine Begründung"}} dann einen Schnelllöschantrag stellen. Nach Stunden oder Tagen wird dem normalerweise problemlos stattgegeben, sollte es jedoch Wochen oder länger dauern kann und sollte es auch abglehnt werden. Das liegt u.a. daran dass ja alle Dateien hier auch außerhalb der Wikiwelt von jedermann weltweit nachgenutzt weren können. Je länger eine Datei hier existiert um so wahrscheinlicher eine mögliche Nachnutzung. Durch eine Löschung würde man dieser u.U. die Rechtsgrundlage entziehen. Gruß --JuTa 03:11, 3 May 2014 (UTC)

Nabend werte User:JuTa. Habe wie du empfohlen hast bereits Drei Bildzeichen so markiert. Wie schnell werden solche Speedy Anträge gelöscht? 1. Hallo, gelöscht wird dort wenn ein Admin rauf schaut, im Schnitt irgendwas zwischen Minuten und Stunden.
