Gracias. --Alfonso 11:04, 10 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Your RFA[edit]

Hi Jossifresco, one of the requirements as listed on COM:A is You have a user page on the Commons and are a Commons contributor with 100 edits (uploads or texts) minimum. According to interiot's tool you have 33 edits. Just FYI. cheers, pfctdayelise (translate?) 17:28, 17 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Oops. I will remove the nom and wait a while. Tx. I will do some janitorial tasks. Jossifresco 23:29, 17 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

No licence[edit]

Hey slow down, I've fixed them up now. I like to put my own licence on them which is why I didn't use the drop down box. Good work though. --— Erin (talk) 00:16, 21 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Jossi, I see you can speak Hebrew. Can you tell me if this page is worth keeping or not? If it is, a description in English should be added, or if the page already exists at another name then this page should be made into a RDR. Otherwise if it just nonsense or a 'test' then I will delete it. Thanks, pfctdayelise (translate?) 11:04, 22 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy delete it. It is about Muhammad and it is nonsense. Jossifresco 00:10, 23 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'd just like to say "thank you" for cleaning up Image:Vishniac smiling.jpg. The much improved version is now being used in the article Roman Vishniac. Thanks. -- Rmrfstar 17:46, 26 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

My pleasure. Jossifresco 00:35, 3 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Admin[edit]

You are now an admin here on Commons. Congratulations! villy 19:39, 3 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hello! Thank you for taking the time to vote for me in my recent request for adminship. It ended with a final score of (8/10) and hece failed to reach concensus. I value all of the contributions made during the process and I will take a special note of the constructive criticism regarding interacting with users in the user talk space. If you have questions, or requests, please leave a message. --Cool CatTalk|@ 12:50, 8 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

es: translation please :)[edit]

Hi Jossi, would you be able to translate my message here? User talk:Murven. Incidentally, if you know the answer as to the copyright status of images like this, I'd be interested to hear it. Thanks! pfctdayelise (translate?) 06:41, 9 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, scratch that, as they wrote back in English, so not needed. :) pfctdayelise (translate?) 06:51, 9 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

obvious copyvio[edit]

Regarding Image:Fetus.png, this is a really obvious copyright violation. Can you please be more careful? The NIH licenses images from many many sources, and most of the images they distribute are not free content. We should at least avoid uploading the ones that are clearly marked as not a product of the federal government. :) (my initial version of this comment, was rude, if you see it.. I'm sorry. Just a little carelessness takes so much work to clean up, I understand this was a simple mistake)--Gmaxwell 03:41, 11 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I downloaded the image from a governmental agency website, under the assumption it was copyright free (http://ehp.niehs.nih.gov/docs/2004/112-6/forum.html?section=environmental] and labelled {{PD-USGov-NIH}}. Most certainly a mistake. I will delete, and clean up any links to it. jossi 04:40, 12 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Cleanup done. jossi 05:05, 12 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Oops, just realised you wanted an answer here. You should add {{subst:nsd}} (no-source-date, meaning the date is automatically inserted). Then on that template you can copy and paste a warning to the uploader. In Category:Unknown you will see the hierarchy of categories. Feel free to delete anything in a folder older than a week (it would be nice to check-usage, remove from usage, make sure uploader has been notified and didn't reply on their talk page, etc). Obvious copyvios (Pokemon, Coke logo) can be speedied. pfctdayelise (translate?) 00:38, 13 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Images with unnecessary borders[edit]

I see you took out the RemoverBorder template from the image pages of Cathedrale de Coutances.jpg and Detail portail NdP.jpg without actually uploading a cropped version. Perhaps you didn't notice the white area surrounding the photos? By the way, there was a discussion at the Village pump about image modification (archive) some time ago, and people don't seem to be happy having their photos edited. Personally I decided to start uploading modifications as a new file in the cases where there is no external source for the image. --Para 14:02, 25 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hmmm. Sorry about that... Probably misssed it. As for some people not happy to having their photos edited, I would argue that once the upload these to commons, images can and sometime will be modified. jossi 23:19, 25 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]
My view is that unless a clear guideline is agreed upon, these problems will continue. I just went to the Cleanup category and started removing borders as per the description of the cleanup needed. jossi 23:22, 25 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Políticas de idiomas[edit]

¡Hola, Jossifresco!

Cordialmente, y muchas gracias por tu atención, --Rodriguillo 23:07, 18 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Ya me fijare en este asunto. Gracias. jossi 01:30, 19 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Commons-l subscription[edit]

Hello Jossifresco,

as per Commons talk:Administrators, I am asking all admins to subscribe to commons-l, a mailing list for Wikimedia Commons policy and project discussion. Since many admins are only on Commons infrequently, this is a good way to alert people about important happenings. The mailing list is nominally multilingual, but predominantly English.

If you are already subscribed to commons-l, I apologize for bothering you, and you are free to ignore this message. If you don't want to use your regular e-mail account, feel free to leave me a message, and I can send you a GMail invite. Traffic on the mailing list is relatively low, and we do not expect admins to read all messages to the list, but it would be nice if you could check on it at least every few weeks. Thanks for your time,--Eloquence 23:06, 4 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Although I am not to active in commons, I have subscribed as suggested. jossi 02:54, 6 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Admin news[edit]

Hello,

If you consent for statistics to be published about your actions as an administrator, please sign here: Commons:Administrator permission for statistics. (I expect that most people will not have a problem with it unless you are especially concerned with privacy.)

Also, please be aware that we now have a Commons:Administrators' noticeboard. Please put it on your watchlist, if you haven't already!

hola[edit]

Muchas gracias. Saludos. --Fede5 04:15, 21 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading Image:Phi.svg. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikimedia Commons (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page. If the content is a derivative of a copyrighted work, you need to supply the names and a licence of the original authors as well.

If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag, then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use {{self|cc-by-sa-2.5}} to release it under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license or {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain. See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find all your uploads using the Gallery tool.
