As User:P.g.champion discovered in Commons:Village pump/Proposals#God has joined Commons!, w:Spreadtrum is a Chinese mobile phone chipset manufacturer. They didn't take that picture, they just insert bullshit copyright information in the EXIF. - Alexis Jazz 10:45, 26 February 2018 (UTC)

@Alexis Jazz: So please fix it.   — Jeff G. ツ please ping or talk to me 10:51, 26 February 2018 (UTC)
I'm confused, what exactly are you asking me to fix now? - Alexis Jazz 10:55, 26 February 2018 (UTC)
@Alexis Jazz: All of these (eventually):
 1. The company which caused the fraudulent assertion.
 2. The chipset which contains the fraudulent assertion.
 3. The uploader which uploaded the file which contains the fraudulent assertion.
 4. The file which contains the fraudulent assertion.
 5. Similarly situated files.
 6. Create a template to address the issue, and apply it to similarly situated files.
Pick your poison. Letting such files stay here indefinitely is unacceptable.   — Jeff G. ツ please ping or talk to me 11:02, 26 February 2018 (UTC)
Letting them stay here is perfectly acceptable for me. Confusing, yes. And people who blindly (without even looking up exactly who or what is claiming the copyright) assume whatever bullshit is in EXIF must be true will be deleting them. Why are those people not on the list, anyway? ;-)
 1. Fixing the company: I will ask Mark Zuckerberg. He speaks Chinese.
 2. Fixing the chipsets (plural): we will need lots of pickpockets.
 3. The uploader which? They are not human? They never even knew. And if they did they wouldn't know how to fix it.
 4. This particular file will cost me a few seconds to fix. Seconds I should use to make something happen that fixes all of them.
 5. Probably tens of thousands. Maybe more.
 6. That's one possible solution.
I need some time to think. - Alexis Jazz 11:12, 26 February 2018 (UTC)

So.. are either of you planning on acting on this? ~riley (talk) 02:17, 27 February 2018 (UTC)

@~riley: I apologize for believing the fraudulent assertion and acting on that belief. I await Alexis's thoughts. I have been unable so far to isolate similarly situated files with a search query for categorization or template application.   — Jeff G. ツ please ping or talk to me 02:26, 27 February 2018 (UTC)
Jeff: that's because you're not searching the right way. I don't know if cirrus can, but even if it can it won't be efficient.
@~riley: I do plan on it, but I want to get it right. We see this one file and focus on it, but there are probably too many to tag by hand. I see you tagged the file in question, thanks for that. I didn't know there already was a suitable template so that'll help when I get this right. For the time being, could you have a discussion with and ping all administrators not to delete any file based on copyright information in EXIF they do not recognize? That's the only thing that can be done very quickly. - Alexis Jazz 10:09, 27 February 2018 (UTC)
@~riley and Alexis Jazz: Thanks, I have filed Commons:Bots/Requests/JeffGBot 3 to deal with this.   — Jeff G. ツ please ping or talk to me 10:20, 27 February 2018 (UTC)
Jeff: please document the template arguments (if any) you will use. If you tag some files as "wrong exif|Spreadtrum", some as "wrong exif|spreadtrum, inc", some "wrong exif|spreadtrum and photo edit program" (this especially, the additional information can't be detected) and others as "wrong exif|chipset maker" this might make things harder later on. - Alexis Jazz 10:31, 27 February 2018 (UTC)
@Alexis Jazz: I would use "Spreadtrum" in this case.   — Jeff G. ツ please ping or talk to me 10:43, 27 February 2018 (UTC)
Personally I find the default image of the template more clear. If you do include the company logo, please wait for the SVG (Commons:Graphic Lab/Illustration workshop#Spreadtrum logo) and create a redirect called "File:Current Spreadtrum logo.svg" or similar and link that. - Alexis Jazz 11:11, 27 February 2018 (UTC)
@Alexis Jazz: Ok.   — Jeff G. ツ please ping or talk to me 11:41, 27 February 2018 (UTC)
File:Current Spreadtrum logo.svg - Alexis Jazz 17:56, 27 February 2018 (UTC)
@Alexis Jazz: That one is pretty wide, I like the one with two rows better.   — Jeff G. ツ please ping or talk to me 23:27, 27 February 2018 (UTC)
@Alexis Jazz: Ok, so "Spreadtrum" then.   — Jeff G. ツ please ping or talk to me 20:30, 28 February 2018 (UTC)
Yes. I've also created File:Spreadtrum logo graphic.svg, if you prefer that I will (or you can) create a redirect something like File:Spreadtrum wrongexif.svg. Maybe that's not such a bad idea anyway. It's not that hard to imagine wanting to use a logo in the template different from the one used on Wikipedia. If you want, I could also create a version with just the word. The word with the graphic above it takes a little bit more of my time. - Alexis Jazz 21:00, 28 February 2018 (UTC)
@Alexis Jazz: File:Spreadtrum logo graphic.svg should do fine, since we will have Spreadtrum as wikilinked text to its right. "Spreadtrum".   — Jeff G. ツ please ping or talk to me 01:35, 1 March 2018 (UTC)

Long edit summaries

Hi there. I know it is probably a habit and probably hard to break but do you think you could stop copying and pasting your entire edit into the edit summary box? The devs raised the limit to 1,000 characters globally without really asking any of the communities (dewiki wanted it) and you are leaving enormous summaries now like this one. --Majora (talk) 02:24, 2 March 2018 (UTC)

@Majora: It's much better than leaving no summary, like so many do here, and it's in keeping with these recommendations. How useful is it to not leave a summary, or to leave a bare one like "r"?   — Jeff G. ツ please ping or talk to me 02:45, 2 March 2018 (UTC)
If I wanted to know everything you said I would look at the diff. r/cmt/re etc. are fine edit summaries for when you are responding to someone. If you want to be more specific. r Majora would be acceptable. To be perfectly honest, no edit summary is better than having an entire 1,000 byte copy/paste of your entire post permanently in the history of the page and temporarily in the watchlist. Summaries are supposed to be, well, summaries. --Majora (talk) 02:50, 2 March 2018 (UTC)
@Majora: , how do you know dewiki wanted it? Artix Kreiger (talk) 02:59, 2 March 2018 (UTC)
@Artix Kreiger: The Phabricator request specifically says that it was a wish from the German community. Why they didn't just do it for the German community and leave the rest of us alone I'll never know. --Majora (talk) 03:04, 2 March 2018 (UTC)
Help:Edit_summary#Recommendations has not been updated to account for the fact devs raised the limit to 1,000 characters, hence why it says "For an addition of, say, 400 characters you can also save time by simply copying that into the summary field. The excess will fall off, and the first 200 characters will usually be acceptable as a crude "summary"." ~riley (talk) 03:06, 2 March 2018 (UTC)

About tagging photos

about tagging for deletion, When I click on "no source", it would tag and notify user, b ut after you click a green box for confirmation. Was this always the case? Artix Kreiger (talk) 00:27, 4 March 2018 (UTC)

@Artix Kreiger: I don't think so, I think they now want to verify that you want to notify the uploader.   — Jeff G. ツ please ping or talk to me 01:07, 4 March 2018 (UTC)

Ikebana photos

Hi Jeff G. I'm wondering if you have a further suggestions on how to proceed with Commons:Village pump/Copyright/Archive/2018/03#File:2017 Ikenobou Autumn Tanabata Exhibition Souka Hyakki (9).jpg? Would tagging with Npd be sufficient or do you think COM:DR or something else is better instead? -- Marchjuly (talk) 11:38, 11 March 2018 (UTC)

@Marchjuly: It seems that flower arrangements are copyrightable artistic expression, and the flowers do not stay arranged that way permanently, therefore we would need permission from the arranger or a DR for each such photo from a country with no FOP for indoor 3D temporary artworks; however a mass DR for all such photos would be more efficient.   — Jeff G. ツ please ping or talk to me 15:35, 11 March 2018 (UTC)
Understand. Do you think it might be a good idea to ask the uploader to clarify "ownership" first? -- Marchjuly (talk) 00:56, 12 March 2018 (UTC)
@Marchjuly: Sure, go for it.   — Jeff G. ツ please ping or talk to me 01:01, 12 March 2018 (UTC)
Feel free to correct or clarify as needed at User talk:Gryffindor#Ikebana photos. -- Marchjuly (talk) 04:46, 12 March 2018 (UTC)

Hi Jeff,

For some reason the Commons:Village_pump/Copyright/Archive/2018/03#File:2017_Ikenobou_Autumn_Tanabata_Exhibition_Souka_Hyakki_(9).jpg discussion on this topic was already closed and archived, I have opened it up on User_talk:Marchjuly#Ikebana_photos. These are good questions. Gryffindor (talk) 14:47, 12 March 2018 (UTC)

VP threads are automatically archived when they've been inactive for awhile. Prematurely archived threads can be "unarchived" on English Wikipedia, but I'm not sure about Commons. I've moved the discussion back to your (= Gryffindor) user talk page, but perhaps Jeff G. can "unarchive" the VP thread so that things can continue there. -- Marchjuly (talk) 00:02, 13 March 2018 (UTC)
@Marchjuly: Anyone may restore an archived thread via copy/paste or refer to an explicitly closed one. Do Ikebana works typically get copyright protection in Japan? Is there case law to back that up? If your goal is really "to keep everything in one place", you are not doing very well at achieving it. I generally reply where I'm pinged, here if I'm written to here, or where I have something to add. Start a DR or don't but it seems to me like that would be arguing about how many angels can fit on the head of a pin.   — Jeff G. ツ please ping or talk to me 01:20, 13 March 2018 (UTC)
I wasn't sure about Ikebana works which is why I originally asked about it at VP/C. Your response at VP/C seemed to indicate that such works require OTRS permission. You reaffirmed the same above and subsequently on Gryffindor's user talk. My above posts was intended to be a response to Gryffindor's post here and not a reply to anthing you posted. I only mentioned "keeping things in one place" because Gryffindor seemed to be replying to the posts left on his user talk in places other than that particular thread. FWIW, I wasn't inferring that you should n't respond here or anywhere else; once again, it was just a suggestion made to Gryffindor. As for the unarchiving, I wasn't familiar with how it was done on Commons; if anyone can do it, then I will re-add the thread to the VP/C main page and the discussion can continue there. -- Marchjuly (talk) 02:14, 13 March 2018 (UTC)
@Marchjuly: Ok, thanks.   — Jeff G. ツ please ping or talk to me 02:22, 13 March 2018 (UTC)
Discussion restarted at COM:VP/C#Ikebana photos. -- Marchjuly (talk) 02:32, 13 March 2018 (UTC)
Hi Jeff, would you mind commenting in the discussion as well? Gryffindor (talk) 12:08, 15 March 2018 (UTC)
@Gryffindor: ✓ Done.   — Jeff G. ツ please ping or talk to me 13:57, 15 March 2018 (UTC)

I have asked for permission from the author, and I have already asked for an OTRS, but still no reply currently. What should I do? Itsquietuptown (talk) 11:08, 14 March 2018 (UTC)

@Itsquietuptown: If a free license has been sent to OTRS, then the file will be restored automatically when and if the email is received, processed, and approved. Note that OTRS, like Commons, is entirely staffed by volunteers, and, also like Commons, is shorthanded, so it may be close to 43 days before the email is processed and the file is restored.
If the message was sent to the English language version of OTRS and the email has been properly received there the sender will receive an automatic reply with the ticket number. If the sender has not had a reply, please check that it was sent correctly and try again. Other language versions may or may not provide the automatic reply.   — Jeff G. ツ please ping or talk to me 14:26, 14 March 2018 (UTC)
@Jeff G.: The author is not yet responding. But he did give me permission, so what should I do? Itsquietuptown (talk) 02:48, 15 March 2018 (UTC)
@Itsquietuptown: Who sent the OTRS email message?   — Jeff G. ツ please ping or talk to me 03:07, 15 March 2018 (UTC)
@Jeff G.: What do you mean? The author didn't send an OTRS, but when I first asked permission, the author allowed the usage of images. Itsquietuptown (talk) 04:19, 15 March 2018 (UTC)
@Itsquietuptown: How did he give you permission?   — Jeff G. ツ please ping or talk to me 04:24, 15 March 2018 (UTC)
@Jeff G.: I emailed the author about the use of his images on Wikipedia. He replied, saying "Yes you can use the images i have taken. as long as its image is credited under my name, Carlo Salgado or to my Business name 360Manila Virtual Tours. Thank you." How can I show the correspondence so I have proof? Itsquietuptown (talk) 05:01, 15 March 2018 (UTC)

@Jeff G.: Uh, how exactly do I forward the email with full Internet headers? Do I copy the entire original message and the subject is Attn: Jeff G. and then forward it? Itsquietuptown (talk) 22:55, 15 March 2018 (UTC)
@Itsquietuptown: That depends on your email client software. Whoever provides that software should be able to help answer those questions. The headers are described in general at en:Email#Message header.   — Jeff G. ツ please ping or talk to me 23:51, 15 March 2018 (UTC)

restoring an image

Hello Jeff

I’m writing regarding the image

https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:%D7%99%D7%95%D7%A8%D7%9D%D7%99%D7%A2%D7%A7%D7%91%D7%A1%D7%95%D7%9F19442017.jpg

It is a scan of one of many pictures of my father (now deceased), taken many years ago, by a professional photographer, to his request.

All the pictures are in my possession and I own all rights to the image.

When I could not upload the file I asked a friend, then knows a bit more than I do about Wikipedia, but the image was removed once again.

Therefore, I kindly request that the Image will be restored to the page:

Based on the previous discussion at Commons:Deletion requests/File:Tunyuan Trailhead.jpg. So What do you think of this image: "File:楊梅伯公山公園入口.jpg"?--Kai3952 (talk) 15:26, 4 March 2018 (UTC)

@Kai3952: The situation is unclear. Is that brick object just there to hold up the artwork, or is it one side of a building a person may enter?   — Jeff G. ツ please ping or talk to me 02:20, 5 March 2018 (UTC)
I'm confused by what you're saying. Why haven't you seen it?--Kai3952 (talk) 03:27, 5 March 2018 (UTC)
@Kai3952: If it's the side of a building that a person may enter, we can keep the photo of it. If it's just a work of art mounted on a brick wall that is not a part of a building, we cannot keep the photo of it unless it can be shown to be PD for some reason.   — Jeff G. ツ please ping or talk to me 03:39, 5 March 2018 (UTC)
What I meant was that, for me, the case of "File:楊梅伯公山公園入口.jpg" is the same as that of "File:Tunyuan Trailhead.jpg". Do not you think so?--Kai3952 (talk) 11:37, 5 March 2018 (UTC)
@Kai3952: I do not think so.   — Jeff G. ツ please ping or talk to me 12:25, 5 March 2018 (UTC)
Can you say a little more about how you see things?--Kai3952 (talk) 13:11, 5 March 2018 (UTC)
@Kai3952: I think it is part of a building.   — Jeff G. ツ please ping or talk to me 13:44, 5 March 2018 (UTC)
Why?--Kai3952 (talk) 15:20, 5 March 2018 (UTC)
@Kai3952: It appears to be attached, to have integrated electric lighting, and to have stairs leading around the side.   — Jeff G. ツ please ping or talk to me 15:28, 5 March 2018 (UTC)
But what I see is a image of the entrance sign. That's why I think it's the same case as "File:Tunyuan Trailhead.jpg".--Kai3952 (talk) 16:37, 5 March 2018 (UTC)
I am waiting for your reply. If you can not answer my question, then I would think that it is unreasonable for you nominated to delete "File:Tunyuan Trailhead.jpg".--Kai3952 (talk) 11:55, 7 March 2018 (UTC)
@Srittau: What's your opinion?   — Jeff G. ツ please ping or talk to me 12:42, 7 March 2018 (UTC)
I'm certainly no expert on the matter, but I'd err on the side of deletion per the PRP here. I agree with Jeff that this seems to be attached to a building, but I wouldn't necessarily assume it to become architecture because of that, especially since it seems to have a frame of some kind. But even without the frame, we'd need to need more about Taiwanese (case) law to be sure that this does fall under the FOP exception. Sebari – aka Srittau (talk) 13:32, 7 March 2018 (UTC)
@Srittau: Thank you. One of you can nominate it if you want.   — Jeff G. ツ please ping or talk to me 16:46, 7 March 2018 (UTC)
@Srittau and Jeff G.: The question is: How do you think about "COM:FOP#Taiwan"?--Kai3952 (talk) 13:16, 12 March 2018 (UTC)

Jeff G, why don't you want to answer me. What is the difference between "File:Tunyuan Trailhead.jpg" and "File:楊梅伯公山公園入口.jpg"?--Kai3952 (talk) 13:47, 13 March 2018 (UTC)

@Kai3952: Do you want File:楊梅伯公山公園入口.jpg deleted, too?   — Jeff G. ツ please ping or talk to me 13:51, 13 March 2018 (UTC)
I didn't say that I want to delete it. But you didn't answer my question.--Kai3952 (talk) 14:24, 13 March 2018 (UTC)
@Kai3952: There is little difference. You have talked me into filing Commons:Deletion requests/File:楊梅伯公山公園入口.jpg.   — Jeff G. ツ please ping or talk to me 14:50, 13 March 2018 (UTC)
No, that's what you said. My original problem was: "Based on the previous discussion at Commons:Deletion requests/File:Tunyuan Trailhead.jpg. So What do you think of this image File:楊梅伯公山公園入口.jpg?" I didn't see I have said I want to nominate File:楊梅伯公山公園入口.jpg to COM:DR. Incidentally, you never answered my question. I just want to know what you think about "COM:FOP#Taiwan"..--Kai3952 (talk) 10:38, 14 March 2018 (UTC)
@Kai3952: It documents the current state of the law in Taiwan. Members of the government there have decided how they wish to balance the rights of the creators against the rights of the users and reusers. I respect the rule of law, thus, I respect that decision and our implementation of it.   — Jeff G. ツ please ping or talk to me 12:37, 14 March 2018 (UTC)
The problem is not here. Look at what you say in this edit. You have said that "not upload such works". So my real problem is: I don't know how to follow "COM:FOP#Taiwan", because I don't know how to judge and distinguish. But you know how to do that. This is the reason I will ask you.--Kai3952 (talk) 01:20, 15 March 2018 (UTC)
@Kai3952: I meant "You should not upload such works."   — Jeff G. ツ please ping or talk to me 02:11, 15 March 2018 (UTC)
I know, but my problem is not here. My problem is: If I can't to judge and distinguish works, I still make the same mistake over and over. In other words, because I don't know what is "the freedom of panorama", I may accidentally upload such a work. Therefore, you said "not upload such works" is not helpful for me. I am very helpless now. So what do you want me to do?--Kai3952 (talk) 03:40, 15 March 2018 (UTC)
@Kai3952: I don't know, find something else to upload? Attack a backlog?   — Jeff G. ツ please ping or talk to me 03:50, 15 March 2018 (UTC)
How do you know at Commons:Deletion requests/File:Tunyuan Trailhead.jpg that the reason for deleting is "COM:FOP#Taiwan"?--Kai3952 (talk) 04:48, 15 March 2018 (UTC)
@Kai3952: It is an artistic work created in Taiwan. @Teofilo: wrote "Reproductions of artistic works are thus only for non-commercial purposes; therefore, such photographs are not free enough for Commons :  Not OK" in this edit, and it has stood the test of time for 9+ years.   — Jeff G. ツ please ping or talk to me 13:27, 15 March 2018 (UTC)
This answer is not very clear. In some buildings, itself is a artistic work, for example Xincheng Taroko Station, Zhinan Temple, National Palace Museum, Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall, and Wufeng Lin Family Mansion and Garden. In the case that the artistic work does existing, and I don't understand why that doesn't apply to COM:FOP#Taiwan.--Kai3952 (talk) 14:54, 17 March 2018 (UTC)

Best I can figure the file name no longer exists because it was deleted (by a user named Túrelio). This is the image, which I just uploaded with a new name:

File:NatewithCoralSorghumfromMalakalSouthSudan.jpg
Nate Kleinman with 'Coral' sorghum from Malakal, South Sudan (Elmer, NJ, 2014).

It was taken by my friend Katherine Ramos, who originally uploaded it to Facebook on October 5, 2014.

I want to go about all this properly. I have a great deal of respect for Wikipedia/Wikimedia and all of you who keep it up. Thank you for your work. NathanKleinman (talk) 07:10, 14 March 2018 (UTC)

@NathanKleinman: Thank you. Neither website indicates a free license. I see that you uploaded it with the Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike 4.0 International license. I can't find your OTRS ticket, what is it's number?   — Jeff G. ツ please ping or talk to me 13:22, 14 March 2018 (UTC)

Hi, thanks. I don't know what the OTRS ticket number was (nor really what OTRS is). I gave it the CC Attribution-Share Alike 4.0 license because that's what Katherine did when she originally uploaded it. It appears that Katt still needs to respond to an email about OTRS? I'm not sure she ever received it. Since she uploaded it with that license and is the original author of the work, does she need to take any further action to make sure it isn't deleted again? 73.194.60.108 02:34, 17 March 2018 (UTC)NathanKleinman — Preceding unsigned comment was added by 73.194.60.108 (talk) 01:04, 17 March 2018 (UTC)

@Túrelio, Jameslwoodward, and Yann: Would you or another Admin please check who added "" to dup File:NatewithCoralSorghumfromMalakalSouthSudan.jpg, possibly why, and whether it is even necessary on File:NateKFarm.jpg given the travel through Facebook and Commons:Undeletion requests/Archive/2018-03#File:NateKFarm.jpg?   — Jeff G. ツ please ping or talk to me 11:05, 17 March 2018 (UTC)
Hi, The uploader, i.e. NathanKleinman, did it. Regards, Yann (talk) 11:52, 17 March 2018 (UTC)
@Yann: Thank you. Do you think we need OTRS permission for this image?   — Jeff G. ツ please ping or talk to me 13:15, 17 March 2018 (UTC)

Ortolana.jpg

@Jeff_G.Thank you for your answer but i don't understand very well the reason because an old engraving made centuries ago is against the copyrithg. Ortolana.jpg. Thank you (please, be patient, I am learning) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Juan Hispalense (talk • contribs) 11:10, 8 March 2018 (UTC)

@Juan Hispalense: You answered none of my questions at Commons:Undeletion requests/Archive/2018-03#File:ortolana.jpg. Please answer them here.   — Jeff G. ツ please ping or talk to me 14:56, 13 March 2018 (UTC)

@Jeff_G. Thank I declared that i have find this picture in internet when i upload the imagine but It´s clearly an old engraving made centuries ago. Obviously I can not prove it, but it is the classic image of a saint in a seventeenth-century hagiographic book. This is verey very vlear for me. Them i think that the opcion "I found it in internet" must be eliminated. --Juan Hispalense (talk) 16:24, 13 March 2018 (UTC)

@Juan Hispalense: Exactly where "in internet" did you find it?   — Jeff G. ツ please ping or talk to me 13:31, 15 March 2018 (UTC)

TIFF

In the WP article on TIFF, it says TIFF is not supported by many browsers, so I decided to check. I uploaded a TIF to Facebook; didn't work at all. Then to flickr; uploaded OK, but image looked out of focus. Then tried commons, got message that image did not pass image verification etc. Can't give you the exact message, but that was the drift of it. Any idea what gives?

Sardaka (talk) 08:28, 20 March 2018 (UTC)

Just did a test and had no issues but not sure what software you used. File:2018 Queens Baton Relay on Tarcutta St, Wagga Wagga ( MG 0279).tif is saved as uncompressed (Photoshop gives a selection list; None, LZW, ZIP and JPG with quality selection), interleaved (RGBRGB) (there is a "Per Channel (RRGGBB) option but not used it), IBM PC (Macintosh is also available) and layer compression as RLE (ZIP, Discard also available). @Sardaka: What software and settings did you use to make it, or where exactly did you get it?   — Jeff G. ツ please ping or talk to me 11:53, 20 March 2018 (UTC)
Took the shot on Nikon D810, did not process it at all, just tried to upload it without having done anything to it. Results were as described.

Sardaka (talk) 06:47, 21 March 2018 (UTC)

@Sardaka: It appears from Category:Taken with Nikon D810 that many uploads of photos from that model are in .jpg (JPEG) format, have you tried that? Can you convert to .jpg or .png with software like GIMP or Photoshop?   — Jeff G. ツ please ping or talk to me 07:55, 21 March 2018 (UTC)

Hey, Can you look at this and the rest of the person's logo uploads? I think they are ok but want a 2nd opinion. Artix Kreiger (talk) 14:27, 21 March 2018 (UTC)

@Artix Kreiger: They may be under TOO, if not we would need OTRS permission. However, what is TOO in Spain?   — Jeff G. ツ please ping or talk to me 22:24, 21 March 2018 (UTC)

Concerning revertion of the deletion of this file. I received permission from the owner of the website. And I emailed @wikimedia-permissions this to allow me an OTRS tag. but they still haven't replied back concerning this other than generating an automatic reply telling me next time to write them with a [Ticket#:2018032410005643]? So I just decided to upload the file early in advance and just put this as the Id number as the OTRS. but all in all I'm confused. @MORNINGSIDE: I'm also confused by the deletion.   — Jeff G. ツ please ping or talk to me 20:39, 24 March 2018 (UTC)
I messaged the guy who deleted it and he just said it was "Copyrighted" which, while yes it is; I did although "Receive" permission to use it on wikipedia by the owner(website) hence is why I put in an OTRS #tag which is the proper method of using a Copyrighted image on wikipedia. File:KhunYing Sudarat Keyuraphan holding Thai's Jasmine.jpg (DELETION)

Hello Jeff,

I have received your messages

"Hello Nafeby632. It has come to our attention that you have uploaded several files that are copyright violations. You have done so despite requests from editors not to do so, and despite their instructions. See Commons:Licensing for the copyright policy on Wikimedia Commons. You may also find Commons:Copyright rules by subject matter useful. This is your last warning. Continuing to upload copyright violations will result in your account being blocked. Please leave me a message if you have further questions"

What made me so confused is that why are all my photos getting deleted! Because first, I work as a private secretary to KhunYing Sudarat, the former Ministers of Agricultural in Thailand and all of the photos I uploaded are originals! Especially the File:KhunYing Sudarat Keyuraphan holding Thai's Jasmine.jpg , this was taken from my camera. But as KhunYing Sudarat is a well-known politician in Thailand, therefore, we sent these photos the presses and media.

So my question is, even I took the photo, I don't have the rights to send to the media and upload this photo on Wikipedia? How am I going to stop getting warning about photos taken by me! This is so funny and not making sense! I can send you all the original files if you don't believe me and I can send you my business-card if you want me credential.

Thank you, Treerat Sirichantaropas Private Secretary to Minister KhunYing Sudarat Keyuraphan. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Nafeby632 (talk • contribs) 05:07, 26 March 2018 (UTC)

Question

Can i upload this image? — Bukhari (Talk!) 08:14, 26 March 2018 (UTC)

File:Mariana (20886692429).jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!
