Rollback right

Hi Jeff,
you are rollbacker (and patroller) since 2012, so when you see an obvious vandalism (e.g. this one), please use "rollback" link instead of "undo". It is faster for you and it is advantageous for people watching recent changes because reverted edit/s is/are automatically marked as patrolled. --jdx Re: 13:33, 3 December 2017 (UTC)

@Jdx: Ok, it didn't seem like all-out vandalism per se, so I AGF (perhaps a bit too much).   — Jeff G. ツ 21:26, 3 December 2017 (UTC)

Using picture

Hi Jeff,

you marked my recently uploaded picture for possible deletion (https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:A_papenburgi_tesztp%C3%A1lya_dinamikus_fel%C3%BClet%C3%A9nek_fel%C3%A9p%C3%ADt%C3%A9se.jpg). Could you help me, what is the way when I want to use in wikipedia such a picture, which is published in internet for anyone (https://atppbg.de/images/Bilder/Testrecken/FDY.jpg, i.e. on the homepage of the proving ground operator)? Thank you in advance. --Tortskiel (talk) 04:37, 4 December 2017 (UTC)

Threat

Do not threaten me, I've edited for many years, Your threat is unfortunate --Kasir (talk) 10:11, 27 November 2017 (UTC)

Your history on the site has nothing to do with the badge for consideration this user replaced on that file, thats just plain silly. It is NOT a threat but it requests more clarification on the photo and its lawful right to be on the site. Comments like "Your threat is unfortunate" dont do any good, save your emotions for real life, this is just a website that does not deserve your energy being directed at any one user for anything.. Thank you, Don.   — Jeff G. ツ 21:27, 3 December 2017 (UTC)
NP I was just passing by and noticed his rage, far too many people take the site too seriously.. I am no saint as I too have been in the shoes, just thought I would chime in..

Hi Jeff - you won't remember but you were immensely helpful on the Kendra Haste page when you sheperded many images through the OTRS process for which, again, my thanks. I have placed a copy of the Timber wolf image on my talk but need to flip it and don't know how without affecting the original. I have tried but am scared of affecting the original. Could you oblige me here? Thanks bud MarkDask 17:33, 9 December 2017 (UTC)

@Markdask: ✓ Done with this file and this edit. Now the wolf is facing left.   — Jeff G. ツ 07:05, 10 December 2017 (UTC)
File:Botticelli Madonna and Child 02.jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

This case

Dear Jeff G, If you know what to do with this Madison case (is the permission legitimate?), feel free to mark it. It is hard to mark such images.

PS: I see that INeverCry asked you to apply to be an Admin once under the Daphne sockpuppet account. INC also asked me this once but I told him I don't have time. I mentioned this long ago over here when I applied to be an image reviewer when I was frustrated that the flickr bot was unreliable and taking days or weeks to mark images. Also, an Admin can be de-Adminined for lack of activity...so I prefer to mark images and ask for help on difficult problems. Best from Canada, --Leoboudv (talk) 01:12, 18 December 2017 (UTC)

@Leoboudv: Hi, and thanks for writing. I am investigating the Madison case, see this post. I have been more objective and AGFd more since my 2nd RfA. My ideal RfA nominator is an Administrator or Bureaucrat in good standing who writes well in English.   — Jeff G. ツ 12:59, 18 December 2017 (UTC)

cropping Becca Pexiotto and Marina Elliott

Hi Jeff,

thanks for your help.

I was not sure if you would see my comments out in the help area, so I am responding to you here.

I am pretty sure I have the right scientist as I have read a lot of online new articles about these women, and the articles had photos. I will check again to make sure.

I am still not sure what the simplest way for me to crop a photo from wikicommons and get it into my wikipedia article.

Any advice on that would be appreciated. I find WikiCommons kind of confusing.

thanks MauraWen (talk) 18:51, 20 December 2017 (UTC)

@MauraWen: You're welcome. I usually use our gadget "CropTool", which you can find on Special:Preferences#mw-prefsection-gadgets. It only supports integers for degrees of rotation, but it does a good job of cropping. Re identification, it looks like the Flickr uploader got it backwards, right? That person also messed up the spelling of "Pexiotto".   — Jeff G. ツ 19:01, 20 December 2017 (UTC)

Jeff, you are right. the Flickr uploader got the two women's name wrong and Becca's last name misspelled. I am going to try the Croptool and see how well I do.

Duck

Hi But since you have contacts with "en.wiki" could you tell their administrators that this is the same person and so he has bypassed his blocking on Wikipedia. Also, he did not behave honestly on the talk page alternating with the two identities, would it be possible to warn him for that? Finally, one of the declared iP's of CC22 is similar to the figure. --Panam2014 (talk) 00:49, 21 December 2017 (UTC)

@Panam2014: Try User talk:Ivanvector.   — Jeff G. ツ 00:53, 21 December 2017 (UTC)
Because of CC22, I have been blocked from en.wiki. And Ivanvector did not believe that CC22 went through his ip address, ip address that looks like the one he used in June and was unmasked.--Panam2014 (talk) 00:56, 21 December 2017 (UTC)
What is the solution now ? Could you ask to en.wiki admins ? --Panam2014 (talk) 01:01, 21 December 2017 (UTC)
@Panam2014: You could apologize profusely on both wikis, at AN/B here and in an unblock request there. These wikis are not your personal battlegrounds on which to wage the Yemeni Civil War, you must remain civil and collegial. If a dose of RL or editing at frwiki helps with that, so be it.   — Jeff G. ツ 01:10, 21 December 2017 (UTC)

Can you please stop wasting time on this? In general tagging files uploaded over 5 years ago with (semi-)speedy deletion is not ok. Multichill (talk) 16:43, 21 December 2017 (UTC)

A barnstar for you!

Hi Jeff, thank you so much for all your help concerning my images. I have been new to Wikimedia Commens and had no idea before how much care is taken to be sure a photo can be shared on Wikipedia. Sending best wishes also for the coming festive holidays. Best to you. Laramie1960 (talk) 18:46, 21 December 2017 (UTC)
