Dear Hazard-SJ,

Thank you for contributing to Wiki Loves Monuments and sharing your pictures with the whole world. You are very welcome to keep uploading images, even though you can't win prizes any longer. To get started on editing relevant Wikipedia articles, click here for more information and help.
You can find all uploaded pictures in our central media collection Wikimedia Commons. Many photos are already used in Wikipedia. The contest was very successful with more than 165,000 images submitted throughout Europe. To make future contests even more successful, we would like to invite you to share your experiences with us in this survey.

Hello, Hazard-SJ!
Tip: Add categories to your files
Tip: Add categories to your files

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.

must be substituted (your bot work)

Hey Hazard-SJ, it was noticed that your bot is not detecting some templates as must be substituted. One example is Scope, which is a redirect to Project scope. My guess would be that Hazard-Bot is not detecting redirects as tagged with must be substitued. Could you please look into this, as we have gotten two new bot requests in the last few days for jobs that Hazard-Bot has already been approved for. --Dschwen (talk) 19:18, 19 February 2013 (UTC)

Thanks for the note, I'll have it implemented soon.  Hazard-SJ  ✈  04:26, 20 February 2013 (UTC)
Should be fixed now.  Hazard-SJ  ✈  05:10, 24 February 2013 (UTC)

Please check what the bot is doing there, something is not working as intended. --Denniss (talk) 11:43, 24 February 2013 (UTC)

Let us know when you've fixed the issue. Request unblock at COM:AN if required. Thanks for your efforts. The block is intended to prevent more useless reverts at COM:VP. -- Rillke(q?) 18:27, 24 February 2013 (UTC)
Fixed, sorry for the trouble.  Hazard-SJ  ✈  03:45, 25 February 2013 (UTC)

Building a bot

Hi, recently there was a village pump discussion about a signature bot. Could you perhaps write a SineBot clone and stick it somewhere to run continuously on Commons (i.e. WMFlabs or Toolserver)? —Mono 23:05, 29 March 2013 (UTC)

Hello, I believe I could try, but I'm not sure how soon I'd have something functional.  Hazard-SJ  ✈  00:29, 4 April 2013 (UTC)
I think there's someone else who can do it, but I'll let you know if they aren't up for it. Thanks for responding, —Mono 00:55, 4 April 2013 (UTC)
Okay.  Hazard-SJ  ✈  03:50, 4 April 2013 (UTC)

Category:Images from the Geograph British Isles project needing categories in grid C0618. Very well, can you finish of the series from categories for 5 down to 1 files ? Thank you. --Foroa (talk) 06:17, 10 May 2013 (UTC)

I plan to do all of them in the next few days.  Hazard-SJ  ✈  02:24, 14 May 2013 (UTC)
Great, but I think that you forgot a few thousand in the lists of 5 files, such as Category:Images from the Geograph British Isles project needing categories in grid NS7812. --Foroa (talk) 07:19, 15 May 2013 (UTC)
Yes, I started, but still haven't finished as yet. I'm only running it from my computer when I'm online at present, though I might just start it on Labs and allow it to finish there.  Hazard-SJ  ✈  02:59, 17 May 2013 (UTC)
✓ List complete.  Hazard-SJ  ✈  20:30, 20 May 2013 (UTC)
Not really as can be seen in here: for example Category:Images from the Geograph British Isles project needing categories in grid SO3634 and Category:Images from the Geograph British Isles project needing categories in grid NN9304. --Foroa (talk) 05:18, 21 May 2013 (UTC)
Okay, sorry about that. I was working from the list someone generated on COM:BR. I'll get those done.  Hazard-SJ  ✈  00:46, 22 May 2013 (UTC)
Problems ? --Foroa (talk) 05:02, 28 May 2013 (UTC)

Yes, thanks for this. More would be great. --99of9 (talk) 09:03, 4 June 2013 (UTC)

Sorry for the delay,  Doing… all from the special page's cache now.  Hazard-SJ  ✈  22:41, 10 June 2013 (UTC)
✓ Done  Hazard-SJ  ✈  00:13, 11 June 2013 (UTC)
Great, I guess that the ones with 3 items will appear on the list after the next list rebuild. --Foroa (talk) 05:06, 11 June 2013 (UTC)
Unfortunately very incomplete: as you can see here. --Foroa (talk) 11:47, 13 June 2013 (UTC)
✓ Created  Hazard-SJ  ✈  04:17, 14 June 2013 (UTC)
Thank you. --Foroa (talk) 05:42, 14 June 2013 (UTC)
And they keep coming back as you can see here. --Foroa (talk) 13:45, 16 June 2013 (UTC)

For now I've put it on a daily crontab, so whenever it's updated, they should be created.  Hazard-SJ  ✈  02:57, 18 June 2013 (UTC)

Hello, thanks for your help with translations. This page has to be redone, see what I told Mono.[1] Please don't ruin pages in this way again. --Nemo 12:50, 23 May 2013 (UTC)

You're welcome, and thanks for the note.  Hazard-SJ  ✈  02:00, 24 May 2013 (UTC)
By the way, an administrator (who is a translation administrator) would be needed to merge the current translations.  Hazard-SJ  ✈  22:44, 27 May 2013 (UTC)

Welcome, dear translation administrator!

Hi Hazard-SJ, thanks for your application for translation administrator. Your request was closed as successful, and you've been added to the list of translation administrators.

Please take a moment to read our help page before marking pages for translation.

For existing translations

Make sure to move all existing translations to language subpages (/fr, /de, etc.). Pages with existing translations need to have them manually copied to the new system or some process to be created for it. Translation administrators must ensure existing translations don't get lost or hidden, or translators will be unhappy and we'll lose them.

Thank you for your contributions to Commons! --Steinsplitter (talk) 11:57, 26 May 2013 (UTC)

You're welcome, and thanks!  Hazard-SJ  ✈  22:38, 27 May 2013 (UTC)

Hi Hazard-SJ, does your bot only look for Must be substituted at the template page directly or does it query whether it is included in the template, e.g. through the documentation. -- Rillke(q?) 14:49, 27 May 2013 (UTC)

Hello, if I understand what you're saying, it would do the latter. In it's generator, it specifically attempts to change /doc pages to the actual template.  Hazard-SJ  ✈  22:38, 27 May 2013 (UTC)
...although if I'm not mistaken, it would still show up as a transclusion once the doc subpage is transcluded.  Hazard-SJ  ✈  01:44, 28 May 2013 (UTC)
Then let's use an example for clarification: Will Hazard-Bot substitute Template:Lle? I am asking because I moved it to the documentation because it is documentation of the template, in my opinion and now I am wondering whether this would break something. -- Rillke(q?) 11:11, 28 May 2013 (UTC)
No, that should be quite fine.  Hazard-SJ  ✈  23:54, 28 May 2013 (UTC)
Thank you. -- Rillke(q?) 09:50, 29 May 2013 (UTC)

Please run your script again, files subcat again filled with nearly 1k images. --Denniss (talk) 21:23, 10 June 2013 (UTC)

Okay, I'll put it on a crontab to run regularly soon.  Hazard-SJ  ✈  23:55, 10 June 2013 (UTC)
It should be running now, and should run twice a week.  Hazard-SJ  ✈  01:14, 11 June 2013 (UTC)

Forgot to run task 9?

I saw Category:Images from the Geograph British Isles project needing categories in grid... is taking too much space in Special:WantedCategories, and made a script to clean them before seeing you've already taken the task. --Zhuyifei1999 (talk) 12:27, 28 June 2013 (UTC)

That's okay. I've checked, the task is still in it's crontab, but on the last run it only made Category:Images from the Geograph British Isles project needing categories in grid TL6154 (no errors seem to have been encountered). I'll wait and see what happens when the list is updated again.  Hazard-SJ  ✈  21:32, 29 June 2013 (UTC)
Can you run it every three days? That's the speed of the update of Special:WantedCategories. I'm doing that, so when the list is updated, my bot will start working on it (at 11:45 (UTC)). Unfortunately, tool labs is experiencing some technical problems, which makes it hard to disable the function. Fortunately, with some other lists it's working on, it'll run quite slow -- it'll take at least 7 hours to finish, so there's plenty of time. --Zhuyifei1999 (talk) 11:51, 1 July 2013 (UTC)
It's actually supposed to check every day, I'm not sure what the problem is. I've just manually submitted the job and it's running now.  Hazard-SJ  ✈  23:29, 1 July 2013 (UTC)
Seems that you have to run manually. The list is updated on June 4. I asked Petrb, but (11:27:40, 7 July 2013 (UTC)) <petan> zhuyifei1999 sorry, I really think this is something what bot creator should handle somehow... --Zhuyifei1999 (talk) 11:33, 7 July 2013 (UTC)
I've been working on this, I'll attempt to query the database for the results and do it from there.  Hazard-SJ  ✈  00:36, 9 July 2013 (UTC)
The only result I got from my query was Category:Images from the Geograph British Isles project needing categories in grid B6415, so this might be ✓ done.  Hazard-SJ  ✈  02:03, 10 July 2013 (UTC)
Ok, thanks. Can you teach me how to query the database? --Zhuyifei1999 (talk) 05:02, 10 July 2013 (UTC)
You'll need knowledge of SQL (something I haven't mastered yet, but I'm improving overtime). Also, for access, you could take a look here.  Hazard-SJ  ✈  23:37, 10 July 2013 (UTC)
Seems I was wrong, there are still more results. I've written a new query, and am getting more results, so I'll work from this query.  Hazard-SJ  ✈  01:43, 11 July 2013 (UTC)
I've modified the script to query the database for the results. It will take a while to get all the results, after which, it should start to create the categories.  Hazard-SJ  ✈  02:09, 11 July 2013 (UTC)

Congratulations! Task 11 is approved. --EugeneZelenko (talk) 14:07, 29 June 2013 (UTC)

Thanks!  Hazard-SJ  ✈  21:14, 29 June 2013 (UTC)
Same for task 10 :-) --EugeneZelenko (talk) 14:50, 30 August 2013 (UTC)

Recent uploads by Hazard-Bot

Hazard-Bot appears to have made some uploads in the past few days with no indication of the user who requested the upload (for example File:UpRising Leadership Programme (9215285910).jpg). Is this a one-time thing or an ongoing activity? If it is the latter, you should probably add identify the source of the upload request. Thanks. Delicious carbuncle (talk) 02:58, 25 August 2013 (UTC)

Please see Commons:Bots/Requests/Hazard-Bot 13 for more details.  Hazard-SJ  ✈  03:59, 28 August 2013 (UTC)
Thanks. I've commented there. Delicious carbuncle (talk) 17:32, 28 August 2013 (UTC)
Hazard-SJ I've commented there, it's all ok. Don't mind Delicious carbuncle, there's no need for the requester to be named on the file upload, all that matters is that licencing is good, which it is :) russavia (talk) 17:09, 30 August 2013 (UTC)
The initiator of the upload request needs to be included. Delicious carbuncle (talk) 17:43, 30 August 2013 (UTC)

Hey Hazard-SJ, Eugene is ready for another test run as per this. If you can drop me a note on my talk page, or catch you on IRC, and I can do what I need to do to the images. Cheers, russavia (talk) 00:49, 1 September 2013 (UTC)

I've fixed the images from the latest upload. You can see the error in this image. russavia (talk) 06:49, 3 September 2013 (UTC)
Thanks.  Hazard SJ  00:17, 4 September 2013 (UTC)

Hairless or shaved?

Why did you do this change: https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=Category:Hairless_genitalia_%28female%29&diff=102063699&oldid=71421649 ? I see no full support for it at the talk page. Boot Blues (talk) 22:14, 3 September 2013 (UTC)

That was done by my bot upon request by Hedwig in Washington (see request).  Hazard SJ  00:16, 4 September 2013 (UTC)
So that makes it OK? Without checking the talk? Boot Blues (talk) 04:57, 4 September 2013 (UTC)
No, I didn't say so. I was simply saying that my bot carries out such category renaming based upon requests added to User:CommonsDelinker/commands by an administrator (the page is fully protected). Therefore, the category rename in question was, as I said, submitted by Hedwig in Washington, so it's best to ask him/her, in case there might have been another discussion elsewhere, or to ask for it to be done the other way around (which would be more appropriate in my opinion, based on the talk page).  Hazard SJ  01:52, 5 September 2013 (UTC)
Category discussion warning

2013 in water transport in Toronto has been listed at Commons:Categories for discussion so that the community can discuss ways in which it should be changed. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this category, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for discussion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it. If the category is up for deletion because it has been superseded, consider the notion that although the category may be deleted, your hard work (which we all greatly appreciate) lives on in the new category.

In all cases, please do not take the category discussion personally. It is never intended as such. Thank you!

Arabian nights on tv

Hi! Thanks voor correcting the Arabian Nights translators category. Could you help me again? In https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:Arabian_nights_on_television I made a typo. "Nights" should be with capital N, because it's an English booktitel. Like other "Arabian Nights" categories. The category is does not contain much media yet; maybe that helps --Judithcomm (talk) 07:27, 3 October 2013 (UTC)

Bot

Hello. Please check Special:Contributions/2A02:EC80:101:0:0:0:2:4. It seems that your bot isn't logged in. --Zhuyifei1999 (talk) 01:54, 6 October 2013 (UTC)

Thanks, already fixed.  Hazard SJ  03:29, 6 October 2013 (UTC)

Congratulations! Task 14 was approved. But please take care about removing interwikis from file descriptions. --EugeneZelenko (talk) 14:35, 19 October 2013 (UTC)

Okay, thanks. I haven't implemented that as yet, but I'll keep a eye out for it.  Hazard SJ  23:59, 22 October 2013 (UTC)

Hazard-Bot is following a request to move Category:People from Brooklyn to Category:People from Brooklyn, New York City per Revision of User:CommonsDelinker/commands, but the request would be controversial, and I see no discussion about it, and no reason for the speedy move. (It is unlikely that "Brooklyn" should be "Brooklyn, New York City".) How do I request that this speedy move be cancelled? (Or if there was discussion, where was it?) --Closeapple (talk) 10:18, 21 October 2013 (UTC)

More information: The origin of this request appears to be Revision of User talk:CommonsDelinker/commands in July 2013, added with the reason "Full names" along with 2 other categories with a similar change. Category:People from New York City is divided by borough without the disambiguator, however, and most subcategories about New York City boroughs are without the disambiguator. (The borough names by themselves seem to have the disambiguator on Commons, but not on English Wikipedia.) --Closeapple (talk) 10:36, 21 October 2013 (UTC)
Hello, you have to speak with Pitke, who added the request and then deleted the old category, since that process has already been completed.  Hazard SJ  00:04, 23 October 2013 (UTC)
"I was just following orders, sir/ma'am". In other words, it's probably best to look at Commons MOS and/or do a CfD to figure out what we want the cat names to consistently be. Also, I'll try and remember to look into things more before renaming bunches of stuff via bot. --Pitke (talk) 04:40, 23 October 2013 (UTC)

Overbotting at Ships by location

Hi, please see >>> COM:AN#Please stop Bot (about the ships category). :) Thankz Orrlingtalk 17:20, 24 October 2013 (UTC)

Please fix your bot

I do not think this is wanted. --McZusatz (talk) 08:35, 23 October 2013 (UTC)

JFYI - it still happens. [2] --Denniss (talk) 14:31, 26 October 2013 (UTC)
The bot operator is gone for some days now. I think about blocking the bot as long as the problem is not addressed. Though I have no actual statistics about the occurrences, the damage should be limited. --McZusatz (talk) 21:02, 26 October 2013 (UTC)
No need to block it, only happens to some recently deleted or moved pages and these occurences will be noticed by BernsteinBot Data reports for easy reverts/deletions. --Denniss (talk) 21:11, 26 October 2013 (UTC)
Fixed, and I've gone through the bot's log and fixed those that weren't fixed.  Hazard SJ  00:42, 30 October 2013 (UTC)
What about those newly created files? --McZusatz (talk) 20:28, 31 October 2013 (UTC)
Hopefully fixed now.  Hazard SJ  07:50, 3 November 2013 (UTC)
Ok, thx. --McZusatz (talk) 14:42, 3 November 2013 (UTC)

Doing more simple cleanup

Hi Hazard-SJ. If your bot edits a file description page to apply fixes for internationalization support anyway, could it e.g. remove spare pipes (two examples) at the same time? There might be some additional ideas in VisualFileChange or in User:Magog the Ogre/cleanup.js such as moving the categories to the bottom or internationalizing dates or other things. --Leyo 19:39, 27 October 2013 (UTC)

Hello, thanks for the ideas, I'll look into them and hopefully be able to implement a few soon.  Hazard SJ  00:45, 30 October 2013 (UTC)
Thanks. Commons:File description page regular expressions may be helpful. --Leyo 12:24, 31 October 2013 (UTC)
OK, thanks.  Hazard SJ  07:49, 3 November 2013 (UTC)
