You don't need technical skills in order to contribute here. Be bold when contributing and assume good faith when interacting with others. This is a wiki.

Getting help

More information is available at the community portal. You may ask questions at the help desk, village pump or on IRC channel #wikimedia-commons (webchat). You can also contact an administrator on their talk page. If you have a specific copyright question, ask at the copyright village pump.

Goodies, tips, and tricks

Put Babel boxes on your user page so others know what languages you can speak and indicate your graphic abilities.
You can find the files you have uploaded in your Uploads.
Please sign your name on Talk pages by typing ~~~~.
To link to an image page without embedding the image, type: [[:File:Foo.jpg]], which produces: File:Foo.jpg.
You may enable gadgets (custom features) for your account.
There are several tools to upload files.

I don't know much about copyright stuff, so correct me if I’m wrong, but if there’s nothing which states any copyright surely there is no copyright, which is why I listed it as that. Indeed you have gotten wrong. Long ago in the United States certain media needed an explicit copyright notice to be under copyright, but (a) not all media (b) that is no longer the case in the US (c) it was never the case elsewhere. Basically, if you find an image on the web, you have to assume it is copyright unless there is an explicit notice somewhere that it is not. You cannot just take a chance, you already have multiple warnings that "persistent violators will be blocked from editing". Err on the side of caution, and if there is an image you really want to upload but are unsure of the copyright status you can ask advice at Commons:Village_pump/Copyright rather than ploughing ahead risking the wrath of the administrators. (I am not an admin and I don't know the details of copyright, the preceding advice is just what I do myself.) Jnestorius (talk) 23:42, 9 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

before contributing more images to Commons/Wikipedia which are not your own work, you really need to acquire a basic knowledge of copyright. Since Wikimedia-Commons promises to offer freely usable images etc., our patrolers check very carefully and keenly whether the uploaded files have actually been freely licensed by their author. Otherwise we would expose re-users to litigation for copyright-infringement.
