Categorization

Hi. Thank you for you effort to help with the mass of uncategorized images. However, I recommend to consider whether categorization into an overly general unmaintained category brings more benefits or harm. When you remove the template {{Uncategorized}}, the image will fall out of the attention of other tools that help categorize, for example, by description language, by coordinates, by use in articles, and so on. Permanently overcrowded and unmaintainted general categories like Category:People (19 529 unsorted files) do not yet help much for definitive categorization or image search.

These negative effects need to be somehow reduced or eliminated. A file that is located only in some such overcrowded category should remain tagged as uncategorized. It would be appropriate to coordinate mass categorization with other users who run tools for tagging and processing uncategorized images. --ŠJů (talk) 08:32, 18 January 2021 (UTC)

Hi ŠJů! I always categorize several for example to People, then on Men, then Portrait photographs of men and further then finer. This makes me much faster than if I deeply categorize images individually in one step. If no one can find these images under the People category, wouldn't it make sense to program it so that the uncategorized flag remains in the images in this folder? --GT1976 (talk) 20:05, 18 January 2021 (UTC)

Category:September 2015 Dresden photographs

I just wanted to tell you that in regards to Category:September 2015 Dresden photographs, there are a number of subcategories for images by individual date. I don't generally agree with images by city by day but it may help you in the future. -- Ricky81682 (talk) 21:12, 15 April 2021 (UTC)

Sie wurde bereits angelegt. Legitimation hatte diese Ergänzung auch vorher. Oft genug ist es mir auch schon passiert, dass bereits Dateien in nicht angelegten Kategorien sind, wenn ich Kategorien anlege. --GT1976 (talk) 17:05, 22 April 2021 (UTC)
