Hi Eugene! Sorry for not answering the admin message, but you can delete the Valdres kart file, because another user made a vector version of it and I don't need it anymore, the file valdres kviss can also be deleted because I doesn't want to be blocked because I am new at wikipedia and I didn't know about this copyright violation before today when I saw the message first time.

When it is about that picture I uploaded today, I have sent a mail to get a license, because I don't want to be blocked, because I saw that previous message after I uploaded it.

Could you please explain origins of images? One of them was taken from MySpace.

If photos are taken from artist web site, you need to ask artist (or copyright holder) to send permission to Commons:OTRS (example Commons:Email templates).

Alternatively you could try to search for artist photos licensed under Creative Commons licenses on sites like Flickr. Please note that not all variants of Creative Commons licenses are accepted by Commons. See Commons:Licensing for details.

Sorry I cant upload exif full resolution as this files were edited by a batch app to save hard disc space and originals were deleted. There are no album covers in this photos. File:Tapaninemilesfromkingston.jpgis an image made by me that was meant to be used as album art but never got to it as the album was released before the image was finished. if the name is the problem I can change it. File:Nueve Millas (siluetas marcan ritmo).jpg was uploaded to be used for a descriptive visual feature of the band's live shows, but it wasn't used. If is better that isnt stored in wikimedia commons server, I can delete that file.

So I think File:Tapaninemilesfromkingston.jpg is out of Commons:Project scope.

The files were deleted as I waited for your response. Cant access the deletion page any more. I just wanted to contribute. One of the files were present in 8 wikipedia articles that now are with missing links. Took me about a month drawing that observable universe diagram. Congratulations.

Sorry, but I several times suggested you to write all arguments on deletion requested page. Deletion request was about copyrights status, not project scope. In this case used files could be deleted.

Commons:Undeletion requests is a standard procedure to restore deleted files.

This is my first time uploading file image to wikimedia commons and it seems that I have made a mistake. The file I uploaded is the logo for the organization I work for, Plant With Purpose, and this is not a copyrighted or trademarked item. The file image was created by the organization and is the logo of the company, but it is not protected in anyway and is free for public use. If somebody create work, it should be copyrighted, unless it trivial. You could ask organization legal department to send permission to Commons:OTRS (example: Commons:Email templates). The article is bare without the photos and provide quality addition to the articles - particularly those who have not been there

Please reinstate the photos as a matter of urgency or provide me with some guidelines on how to reinstate as I have the originals and will commence loading them again into the article - unless you have better explanations for their permanent deletions.

Hey folks, I'm a wikipedia editor/author and i've got a major complaint about a sudden batch of deletions made to files related to ballpoint pen artist James Mylne. The above file was also uploaded by James, but not part of the deletions to which I'm referring. Two other files were suddenly deleted with what I believe to be insufficient notification or understanding. I'm sorry I don't have the file names on hand, but I do have a batch of complaint-messages from the artist himself toward the trigger-happy staff who made the deletions. James was generous enough to spend his time uploading the files, not to mention the fact that by doing so he was providing free content to the project. I myself also don't have the adequate time to be chasing down neither the people nor the reasons behind the deletions, but I do politely demand that the files be re-loaded at the most immediate moment possible!

The files in question were deleted from the James Mylne (artist) wiki, and the Ballpoint pen artwork wiki. One was a file of his artwork possibly titled "Polo Pony." The other was a photo depicting James Mylne at-work/drawing. I solicited those images from him personally; he was nice enough to respond to my requests, and he uploaded them to commons himself, therefore he MUST've surely submitted some kind of statement granting permission for usage at that time. His User-name for the Commons uploads may be his own name, "James Mylne." Will someone please get on this pronto and send copious apologies to the man as well! Thanks for your attention. As for the magazine cover in question, I personally (the author of the articles in which the above files are utilized) have notified artist James Mylne (whom uploaded the magazine cover featuring his artwork) and he will make the effort to contact the publishers to obtain & submit the proper permission. I would like it noted through proper channels that this is under way, and request time-consideration for this to be dealt with.

I tried to add a proper "rationale" template to the file but was unsuccessful. The cover is being used in the wiki to illustrate the fact that Kate Moss is a regular subject of James Mylne artwork, which in turn have also been published as magazine covers on several occasions. Please do not delete the "Addlib" magazine file hastily without allowing a fair amount of time, considering we are all busy with other real-life concerns! I checked several book covers at Wikipedia before trying to upload the Seven Sins cover. Dick Francis' Nerve and Dead Cert, Laurel Hamilton's Guilty Pleasures, etc. They all have the same kind of license,

This is user Anjali Reddy J, i received a message from you that my pictures got nominated for deletion. Eugene those are my own pictures i took it from Canon Sx120 12 Mp camera. Could you please suggest me what shall i do to keep the pictures as it is. I choosed the option my own work when i uploaded them apart from that do i need to do anything. PLease suggest me, because those are my own pictures and i am the phorographer for those. It would be really helpful to me if you suggest me what license tag do i need to use and it is my own work. I have taken those pictures when i attended their dance performances. I know wiki have strong review process thats why i have added my own photographs which i took and mentioned it while uploading, i don't know i missed out anything, if it is please suggest me. I don't want to loose those pictures as those dancer photographs are my own work and close to my heart. The reason you mentioned is Unlikely to be own work: small resolutions, missing EXIF. I took it from that 12 MP camera only and i haven't edited anything i uploaded the pictures as it is :-(...I don't know much about editing the pictures as i am learning photograpghy now. Could you please suggest me and help me in keeping my pictures with out getting deleted.

I didn't get the solution what you gave, how can i upload the image with the original resolution, i directly took that picture from that camera and copied to ma system and from there i uploaded that. EXIF is automatically generated at time of creating photo by digital camera. It should include camera model, date, time, etc. See w:en:Exchangeable image file format for details.

It's strange that 12 megapixel camera is used in so low resolution.

I've just been talking with this editor in the editing help IRC channel. Sure, they tell me, all these pictures were uploaded directly from the camera, unedited, no idea why the EXIF data is missing. I take a look at the first one, "Achuta Manasa". Look, I say, that has obviously been edited, the background is a plain sheet of one colour.

Ah! No, they forgot. They did edit _that_ one. But all the others were uploaded unedited, etc. Then I take a look at "Prateeksha kashi"; the metadata is exactly what I'd expect to see if it was edited in iPhoto. I point this out. After some digging, it seems the pictures may have been transmitted via an upload to and download from Facebook, which of course shrinks them and strips the original EXIF data. I pointed this out, and recommended uploading originals. Pinkbeast (talk) 17:11, 9 April 2013 (UTC)

@Pinkbeast@Eugene: I was away for a while, see achutamanasa picture is the only one which we edited the back ground. The remaining pictures which i am using right now in my pages (prateeksha kashi, Vyjayanthi kashi, Shazia khan) are my own pictures which i took from that 12Mp camera. I haven't set any time and date in camera and i switched off the option as i don't want to display the time and date on the picture, is this showing some impact or so????...i really don't know now what shall i do. I took the pictures and through a card reader i uploaded them in my dell laptop which is having window OS and from their i uploaded them in my facebok and wiki...now i don't know what exactly needs to be done. :(

I have those pictures in my hard disk ecternal, can i upload them from that to wiki directly. Please suggest me in this regard.

Re-uploaded image seems fine for me. It still misses EXIF, but probably you suppressed it generation on camera. I think it's good idea to enable it, so you'll not have hard time to guess when particular image was created :-)

I could suggest you to take pictures of not only art, but everyday objects (tools, houses, etc) and routines/activities (construction, repairing, agricultural, food preparation, etc) and ceremonies (wedding, child born, funerals, etc) if you'll have possibilities. It could be very interesting too!

Хочу проконсультироваться с Вами насчёт одного из удалённых файлов, загруженных мною в Commons, мне не всё с ним ясно: Бронзовая медаль с профилем Альфреда Ромера, автопортрет, 1880, Национальный музей Литвы После того, как мне выставили предупреждение, я нашла в интернете другой ресурс, где этот файл лежит в свободном доступе, и поменяла источник в описании файла. Несмотря на это, файл всё же был удалён. Это правильно?

Думаю, тут происхождения файла неясно, да и медаль довольно рельефна, чтобы утверждать, что это двухмерное воспроизведение.

Кстати, а чем не устраивают монеты в Category:Coins of the Soviet Union? Да и отсканировать самостоятельно нетрудно. Есть участники, которые умеют делать очень хорошие фотографии монет (например, User:Komarov Nickolay).

Кроме того, надо убедится, что на изображения денег нет ограничений (Commons:Currency).

Для двухмерных произведений есть {{PD-Art}}. Монеты и медали - всё-таки трёхмерные объекты. Сканирование трудно назвать творческим процессом, а вот фотографию - вполне.

Про монеты я, возможно, ошибся, упомянул в связи названиями файлов в запросе на удаление вместе с медалью.

I definitely had similar issue for at least last week, and many file lock problems ~ 2-3 days ago. I notified about them on wikimedia-tech IRC channel, but reply was that it known problem. Frankly, I don't know other methods to communicate with developers/sysadmins except wikitech mailing list. Bugzilla is mostly pile of requests which rarely get attention from my point of view. So I could only suggest to send letter to wikitech. However reaction may be no different then on IRC. At least developers didn't show too much enthusiasm to investigate frequent (and unlikely to by justified by real updates) pulling of bits.wikimedia.org.

I'm subscribed to wikitech mailing list, so I could send mail there.

Why was the Logo deleted?

Hi Eugene, I just saw that you deleted the Picture of a Bandlogo I uploaded today (for the article of the band Mor Dagor). I got the affirmation of the Owner of the Logo to upload it on the Wikipedia Article. So what do I have to do in order to get the Picture uploaded?! I put the note about the authors affirmation into the file's description. And why does the use of an unlicensed logo for example in the german wikipedia article of the band "Darkthrone" work? Если логотип нетривиален, то Вы можете загрузить его в те проекты, которые разрешают несвободные изображения. Например в Википедию на русском языке. A brief comment on FOP in Armenia

This link is the earliest discussion that I know of on Commons about the new FOP law in Armenia. In it, user Vacio gives an English translation of the Armenian text. Then Carl Lindberg says that through Google Translate, it appears that the Armenian government has 'deleted the "for non-commercial purposes"' portion of the old law. Всё-таки стоит привлечь участников к проверке предлагаемых к переносу изображений. Например, в File:UaMigrGrowth.PNG отсутствует ссылка, в File:Алака1.JPG - перепутаны {{Own}} и автор (и прямая ссылка на автора бы не помешала), File:Одеський аероклуб - 1912.jpg была сделана в Российской империи.

Мне кажется, что если подобные проблемы не будут исправлены в украинской Википедии, то здесь вероятность их исправления ещё меньше.

Hi Eugène,

I see you marked File:Euskal jainkoen familia.png as no permission. Since then we received a permission on OTRS which I am processing. But before validating it I’d like to know why you marked it as no permission − as far as I can see after a quick GoogleImage check, the media has not been published before on the web. Therefore, I don’t really see why we doubt the uploader word. What am I missing here?

This image could originate from book or be compilation of book illustrations (sure, public domain is possible source too). If it's entirely uploader vision of deities, question is how accurate it's. --EugeneZelenko (talk) 14:29, 9 June 2013 (UTC)

Please I would like to understand why you removed files covered by freedom of panorama in Israel?

The reproduction of this architectural work, work of sculpture or work of applied art, is covered under the Israeli copyright statute (2007), which states that "Broadcasting, or copying by way of photography, drawing, sketch or similar visual description, of an architectural work, a work of sculpture or work of applied art, are permitted where the aforesaid work is permanently situated in a public place." (paragraph 23) See COM:CRT/Israel#Freedom of panorama and COM:CRT/Israel#De minimis for more information.

I would be happy to know your explanations.

Переименование аккаунта

Приветствую! Последний год я нахожусь в армии, поэтому не мог следить за процессом глобализации аккаунтов. Так, я не смог вовремя позаботиться о приведении всех своих учётных записей в разных проектах к единому наименованию. По сути, наибольшую активность я имею в Русской Википедии как Сидик из ПТУ и в Коммонз как Sidik iz PTU. Сейчас эти учётки в разных глобальных записях, я подал запрос на включение вклада Sidik iz PTU в Сидик из ПТУ, но не дождался никакой реакции бюрократов. Возможно, это уже невыполнимо технически - полностью ознакомиться с нюансами сложившейся ситуации я не могу и не могу по сей день, так как ещё в армии и доступ к Интернету у меня крайне не постоянный. В то же время я видел как в РуВики аналогичные процедуры выполняются и сейчас. Вы можете мне помочь? Хотя бы авторитетно заявить, что привязать вклад старой учётки к новой невозможно никакими путями?
