Hello, DianeAnna, and welcome to Wikimedia Commons. Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Commoner! If you haven't already done so, you might also want to open an account on a Wikipedia in your preferred language, or one of the other Wikimedia projects. By the way, please be sure to sign your name on Talk and vote pages using four tildes (~~~~) to produce your name and the current date, or three tildes (~~~) for just your name. Danke für die Begrüßung! Thanks for your welcome! I will certainly stay .. I like the idea of Commons/Wikipedia and I'd like to support it. There are loads of pictures waiting for an upload and besides this is a good way to brush up my English. (Not to talk of my French..) -- DianeAnna 21:40, 9 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
mit mir kannst du aber auch Deutsch sprechen;) -- Duesentrieb(?!) 21:57, 9 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
<lol> .. Auch das werde ich mir merken.. ;) -- DianeAnna 22:03, 9 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. The day may very well come that we delete all "freedom of panorama" images from Commons because the United States has no such clause, but we're not there yet. It doesn't make sense to mark such photographs with speedy delete. Jkelly 17:35, 23 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Jkelly. I hope the day will never come, that we have to delete all FOP-images from Commons! But as I understand it, Freedom of Panorama does not apply on these artworks. These works are exhibits in a museum. That's a public place, but they are not "permanently installed" and that's the premise for FOP (FOP:Canada). Greetings, -- DianeAnna 20:32, 23 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Hm. You're probably right about that. Jkelly 21:35, 23 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks! :) -- DianeAnna 22:36, 23 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Lob[edit]

Hello, DianeAnna!
Tip: Add categories to your files
Tip: Add categories to your files

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

[[Category:Category name]]

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]
[[Category:Comets]]

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.

File:Jolene_Blalock_2005.jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!
